Lydia Lea Flemming
Lydia Lea Fleming, age 73, of Miles City passed away on Monday, February 2, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Lydia was born in Ismay, Montana on January 29, 1931, the daughter of Lee and Rosemond (Kimball) Linnell. She attended and graduated from high school in Ismay. Lydia married Maurice Fleming on October 1, 1950 in Ismay, Montana. They lived at Knowlton, Montana until moving to Miles City in 1976.
Lydia served on the local School Board, was President of the Fallon Creek and Southeastern Montana Cowbelles, member of Locate-Knowlton Extension Club, Past President of Custer County Extension Council, Deacon and Elder of Presbyterian Church, Past President of Range Riders Reps, was a member of the Eagles Club, Sage Riders, and RSVP. Lydia enjoyed cooking, friends, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities.
Lydia is survived by two sons: Philip Fleming and his wife Debi of Broadus, MT; and Tab Fleming and his wife Santos of Miles City, MT; a daughter, Rita Fleming of Miles City, MT; seven grandchildren: Brett, Derick, Jesse, Cresta, Rayne, Carmen, & Tab; and a brother George Linnell of Miles City, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maurice in 1995, a brother LaJaren and a sister Neva.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2004 in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City with a luncheon to follow at the church. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Knowlton cemetery.

Rozella Mae (Nichols) Gregg
Rozella Mae Gregg, age 84 of Wolf Point, Montana, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2004 at the NE Montana Health Services Facility Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
Rozella was born on August 6, 1919, in Oswego, Montana, the daughter of Sam and Alice (Blount) Nichols. She was raised and attended schools in Oswego and after her schooling she married George Gregg on October 15, 1936 in Chinook, Montana. They lived in Oswego for a time before moving to Wolf Point. In 1959, the couple moved to California returning to Wolf Point ten years later where they have remained ever since. Rozella worked mainly as the CHR at the Chief Redstone Cultural Center until her retirement.
Rozella enjoyed sewing and going to pow-wows, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Rozella is survived by her daughter Alice and her husband Melvin Billy of Rocky Boy, MT, six adopted daughters; Thelma Todd of Frazer, MT, Teresa Smoker of Poplar, MT, Carlene Plain Feather of Billings, MT, Loretta Walton of south of Wolf Point, Carol Jones of Wolf Point, and Dolly Stark of Poplar, MT, one adopted son, Everett Chaney of Rigby, ID, eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2004 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.. A vigil service will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Oswego Presbyterian cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Magdalena Galzagorry
A small memorial service in her honor will be held at 11:00am Friday June 4th in the chapel at Providence Marianwood Nursing Home in Sammamish where she lived the last couple of years. A remembrance service will be held in Miles City later this summer followed by burial at the Calvary cemetery.
Magdalena Galzagorry, age 91, passed away on Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 in Sammamish, Washington after an extended period of failing health.
Magdalena Galzagorry, born Goni, was born in Gorostapolo, a small area of the village of Errazu in the Basque Region of Spain, on April 6th, 1913. She immigrated to the U.S. after marrying the late Jean Galzagorry in April of 1960. She lived in the Yellowstone Valley with Jean and his 4 daughters. She became a U.S. citizen in 1972. She worked alongside her husband farming and ranching most of her life as well as cooking at the Log Cabin Café for a brief period. Following her husband's death in June of 1990, she lived briefly at the Eagle's Manor before moving to Washington in 1993 to be closer to her daughter. Her health gradually deteriorated until her recent death.
She is survived by her daughters, Liz Galzagorry of Helena MT, Cathy van der Linden of Sammamish WA, Grace Galzagorry of Nevada City CA, and Helene Galzagorry of Austin TX. A small memorial service in her honor will be held at 11:00am Friday June 4th in the chapel at Providence Marianwood Nursing Home in Sammamish where she lived the last couple of years. Rose Grenz
Rose Grenz, age 83, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Rose was born in Gorham, North Dakota on February 3, 1921, the daughter of Russian immigrants, Steve and Katherine (Godlesky) Anheluk. As a young girl, Rose was a Shepard, with dreams of one day being able to drive an automobile which they would occasionally see passing through. The family would travel to town once a year by horse and buggy, the daughters receiving only a nickel apiece to spend. She attended elementary schools in Gorham, moving to Medora for high school. She boarded with a shopkeeper's family, and worked for them while attending school. They taught her English as she spoke only Russian. Rose graduated high school in Medora as the valedictorian of her class, which consisted of two students. She then went to Beauty School in Fargo and opened a beauty shop in Bowman, North Dakota followed by one in Belfield. While in Belfield, she met Chris Grenz in 1945 and married in 1947. Chris and Rose moved to Miles City in 1948 and purchased the 600 Bar. Rose convinced Chris to start a five-stool restaurant and bakery across from the bar. As the dining area continued to expand, the bar was moved down stairs. Beginning the era, which would later be known as the 600 Café. Never would Rose have dreamed that the 600 Café would become the anchor tenant of Downtown Main, Miles City, Montana. She was very active in the Catholic Church and in helping the community. For the past several years Rose hosted the Harvest Dinner, a benefit for the Catholic Church, which will continue as a tribute in her name. Rose was also an avid traveler, exploring much of the world near and far.
Rose is survived by two sons: Chris "Butch" Grenz of Miles City, MT; and Carter "Ike" Grenz of Flippin, AR; stepdaughters: Sheila Koon of Vista, CA; Joan Marie of Chico, CA; and Marcella Olson of Bismarck, ND; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Grenz was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chris, and her children: James "Spike" Grenz, Tom Grenz, Gardner Grenz, and Betty Wilhelm.
A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Parish.

George C. Sindelar
George C. Sindelar, age 94 of Miles City, Montana, passed away on Saturday, May 29th at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
George was born on September 22, 1909 at Wagner, South Dakota, the son of Charles and Katerina (Lev) Sindelar. At an early age he moved with the family to Cohagen, Montana where George attended country school and worked on the family ranch. After his schooling, George worked with the WPA in the construction of the Fort Peck Dam. He also worked for Inland Construction in the building of highways between Jordan, Miles City and Fort Peck. On June 14, 1937, he married Ruth M. Jacobson in Miles City. In 1938, George graduated from mechanics school in Miles City and began working for Fink's Garage in Culbertson, Montana. The couple then moved to Miles City where he worked for Miles City Motors until 1947, and then at Boutelle Motors until his retirement in 1971.
George was a motorcycle aficionado and continued riding until the age of 85. He helped institute the motorcycle club in Miles City in the 1960's and also the archery club in the 1950's. George enjoyed working with his hands and was an excellent leather crafter and woodworker, making many wooden toys for his grandchildren. He was also an inventor, making his own tools that he would use in his leather crafting and woodworking. He was an avid reader and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
George is survived by two sons; George and his wife Betty of Miles City, MT and Norman and his wife Cathy of Seeley Lake, MT, three sisters; Viola Fluss of Terry, MT, Carey Zook of Miles City, MT, and Tudi Jones of Chula Vista, CA, ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 1991, his daughter Joann Webb in 2000, and two sisters Helen Jenerich and Mildred Fiske.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County cemetery.
Should friends desire; memorials may be sent to the Miles City Hospice or to the local Meals on Wheels Program.

Gerald "Sonny" Taron
Gerald "Sonny" Jerome Taron, age 63, of Miles City, MT passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 1, 2004.
Sonny was born on July 26, 1940 in Glendive, MT to Arthur and Bertha Taron. He attended local schools and graduated from Dawson County High School in 1959. Sonny worked for Standard Oil as a welder for 18 years and was a member of the Boilermakers union for 18 years. Later, in 1983, he took over Art's Repair Shop when Art passed away.
Sonny was an expert in welding, Blacksmith work and restoring cars. He loved cars and car racing. In high school he painted local cars and crash cars as a hobby. He also collected gem stones and Montana agates. Sonny taught local teachers and artists the art of welding. Sonny loved to go fishing and hunting.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Bertha Taron. He is survived by six sisters and one brother, Deloris Padilla of Casper, WY, Ellen Montgomery of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Taron of Tooele, Utah, Millie Janssen of Wellton, AZ, Violet Palmer of Lafayette, CA, Rosemary Willey, of Anoka, MN, Lorraine Mees of Las Vegas, NV, and almost 202 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Jun 5, 2004 at 11:00 at the Custer County cemetery in Miles City. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

PFC Owen David Witt
B-Troop 1-4 Cavalry

PFC Owen D. Witt, age 20, of Sand Springs, MT, died in Iraq on May 24, 2004. His mission was to serve his Country, which he chose by enlisting in the United States Army. Owen was extremely affected by the events of September 11, 2001 and was determined to defend the United States.
He was born December 6, 1983 in Lewistown, MT. He attended Benzien Country School through the eighth grade, and graduated from Garfield County High School in 2002. He was involved in the 4-H, basketball team, and loved to be at the ranch and spend time with his family. Owen was a terrific person. He was kind, loving and caring with a great sense of humor and wonderful smile. He lived with his family on a working ranch in Montana. He was an artist, working at painting in oils. Owen wanted to ranch, raise a family and paint. He liked country and western music and was a very gregarious fella.
He is survived by his mother and father; Karen and David Witt of Sand Springs, grandparents; Alvin and Patsy Clark of Brusett, three brothers; Cody and his wife Christina Witt of Missoula and their children, Catherine and Corbin, Kelly and his wife Michelle Witt of Sand Springs, and their children Megan and Morgan, and Troy Witt, and his fiancée Margo, of Sand Springs, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and a special friend, Janina Behen of Germany.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garfield County High School Gymnasium. Interment will follow in the family lot at the Steve Forks cemetery with full military honors. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements.

Marvin Dufloth
Marvin Dufloth, age 66, of Miles City passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2004 in Miles City.
Marvin was born on December 1, 1937, in Terry, Montana, the son of Christ and Leona (Vanarski) Dufloth. He grew up and attended schools in Terry where he graduated from the Terry High School. Following his schooling, he entered the United States Army where he served for two years before he was honorably discharged. He then returned to Terry where he worked for his father then moved to Miles City where he went to work at the United Building Center and for Pepsi. He later went to work for M & C Beverage where he worked until the time of his death.
Marvin was an avid reader. He loved truly loved his sister who died at the age of sixteen, and he loved spending time with Doug and Ronda's son. He also enjoyed his ham radio. Marvin was a member of the Eagles and the VFW Club.
Marvin is survived by his cousins: Wayne Corneliusen of Albuquerque, NM; Rick Corneliusen of Lyndon, KY; and Larry Corneliusen of Tucson, AZ; and all of his friends at work. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veteran's cemetery in Miles City.

Al "Alphonso" Ault
Al 'Alphonso' Ault, age 59, of Poplar passed away at his home on June 1, 2004. He was born on June 12, 1944 in Poplar to Lawrence James and Anne McGowan Ault.
He was born and raised in the Poplar Hotel. He attended High School in Poplar and graduated in 1962. He attended some schooling in Guadalajara, Mexico. He farmed most of his life, worked for MDU, was a real estate broker, and a Farm Bureau Insurance agent.
Al enjoyed following high school basketball, watching his kids play ball, a good comedy, playing cards, and socializing. He really enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren.He also liked 'Road Tripping' with friends. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife DeLaine of Poplar; three sons, Philip (Kelly) Ault of St. Helens, OR, Randal Ault of Kansas City, MO, and Gregory (Amber) Ault of Billings; nephew Carter (Lana) Swanson; two children from his previous marriage to Gloria Buckles: James Roman of Denver, CO and Kimberly (Ken) McGraw of Glenwood Springs, CO; a sister Pat Cowan of Arizona and grandchildren: Sloane, Rachael, Camryn and Addison Ault, Michael and Annie McGraw. His parents, two brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
Vigil services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Poplar City cemetery.
Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

Marilyn Kay Wright
Marilyn Kay Wright, age 57, of Spearfish, died peacefully at her home after a thirteen month battle with cancer.
Marilyn was born in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Jack and Margaret (Williams) Mills of Boyes, Montana. She attended rural school at Boyes and graduated from High School in Broadus, Montana. After attending Dickinson State and Black Hills State Colleges, she developed the first elementary physical education program in the Belle Fourche school system, and taught elementary physical education in Belle Fourche for seven years. On July 25, 1977, she married Jim Wright and they raised four children. When her children were raised, she cared for her mother.
Few could compare to Marilyn in generosity. All who knew here will miss being remembered on special occasions including: Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, graduations, births and every holiday. But what will be missed most of all is the friendship she extended to everyone she met. Her home was open to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. Once she befriended you, it became a lifelong companionship. During her own battle, she prayed for others with cancer, rejoicing in the victories, and mourning in the defeats. She will not be forgotten, but will be missed and mourned by many.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Jim, four children and four granddaughters: Julie (Shannon) Rolando of Spearfish, Jill Wright of Boston, Genie (Charles) Bouck of Okinawa Japan and Jimmy Wright of Boston. Her granddaughters are Anne-Marie Rolando, Kate Bouck, Alissa Bouck and Hannah Bouck. Also surviving is her mother, Margaret (Williams) (Mills) Schmaus of Cascade, MT; two brothers: Jack “Slug” Mills (wife Mary Anna, “Poppy”), and Steve Mills (wife Cicelia, “Sis”), all from Boyes, and one sister, Vivian Deleo (husband Ben) of Cascade, MT, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Jack Mills; and grandparents: Louis and Anna Trucano and Roy and Bessie Williams.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Baptist Church on Exit 12 in Spearfish, SD with Mark Fuhr officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 pm at the Boyes cemetery in Boyes, Montana with a reception at the Boyes Community Hall to follow.

Robert Butler
Military Graveside Services: Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Custer County cemetery in Miles City with full military honors.
Robert A. Butler, age 63, of Seeley Lake, passed away Dec. 30, 2010, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1947, in Lovell, Wyo., to James C. and Betty Jane Butler. He attended Custer County High School in Miles City, and continued his education at Miles City Community College. He worked for various ranchers in the area with the dream of owning his own ranch.
He married Linda I. Friesz in 1965. They had three children: Alladin J. Butler (Nancy) of Forsyth, Christine E. Correa (Angelo) of Brown Mills, N.J., Roberta J. May (Zjon) of Forsyth. They were later divorced and he was remarried to Joan (Jody) Houk in 1980, when he gained two more sons: Richard D. Hulett (deceased) and Rodney M. Hulett (Renee) of Seeley Lake. He has 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He joined the Navy in 1965, spending two years on active duty, and retired from the Naval Reserve in 2004.
After working many years at Carquest in Forsyth and retiring from Montana Power Company in Colstrip, he achieved his dream and bought a ranch of 24 acres in Fishtail and built a home. In 2001, he sold his ranch for the true retirement life and bought an RV and traveled and spent the winter months in Yuma, Ariz., and the summers at Monture Ranger Station in Seeley Lake as volunteer station keepers, where he tended to the stock and assisted in the renovation of the station cabin, which is now listed with the Historical Society. He finally bought a home in Seeley Lake with his wife, where he lived out his remaining days.
Bob is survived by his mother, Betty Butler of Miles City; two sisters, Bettiann and husband Terry Haggard of Castle Rock, CO and Katy and husband Vern Harbaugh of Miles City, three nephews and a great niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother James S.
Bob had a very big heart, was kind and polite to everyone. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Custer County cemetery in Miles City.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to an American Legion of their choice.
