Amber Bastian
Amber Lynn Bastian was born on May 27, 1975 in Miles City, the daughter of Jim and Cathy Bastian. She attended school in Miles City and 'graduated' to EMI at the age of 17. Because of all of the wonderful care-givers at EMI, she was there for 18 years. She was also blessed to have wonderful home caregivers that were her best friends. She especially loved Jessica Kennedy, Sara Stoeckel, April Hom Samuelson, Misty Anderson, and Cassie Blanchard Bastian. In the last few years of her life, Amber so benefited from special massage sessions with Jana Sloan Ward and Helaina Miller; the power of a caring heart and touch spoke in ways that words never could. Amber also had a special relationship with her Grandma Weyerbacher and no matter how sick she was, would always smile when she'd hear her voice.
Amber was a very special 'little girl.' When she was born it seemed that her parents heard the Lord's voice say, 'You are going to need to take very good care of this special gift.' For 35 years, that was the honor that her parents and family had 'to take very good care' of her, and to see beyond the genetic condition and enjoy life Amber's way. The real heroes in life are these special gifts who teach everyone who came in contact with them that you don't need to walk or talk to touch people's hearts.
Amber's delights in life were music, sunshine, the breeze blowing in her face, french fries, orange pop, ice cream, and watching TV in her bed with Emma.
Amber's life was touched and lengthened by the tender loving care of our beloved Dr. Young. Thank you so much for helping us with all our children.
Amber is survived by her parents, Jim and Cathy Bastian of Miles City; grandmother, Alice Weyerbacher of Miles City; her brothers and sisters, Chris and Cassie of Casselton, ND, Karin and Scott Helmig of Billings, Megan Bastian and Kyle Oliver if LaCrosse, WI, and Tim and Mandi Bastian of Billings; along with her nieces and nephews, Emma and Ava Bastian of Casselton, ND, Marissa, Harrison, and Isaac Helmig of Billings, and Grace Oliver of LaCrosse, WI. Amber was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elwyn and Evelyn Bastian and Ralph Weyerbacher, and her sister and brother Wendy and Daniel Bastian.
