Clarice Merle 'Dolly' Fandrich
March 11, 1926-December 15, 2007
Dolly passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long illness in Butte, MT. Dolly was born in Swan River, Manitoba, to her Canadian mother and American father, Pearl (Tibble) and Clarence Preller. Being a beautiful little baby earned her the nickname 'Dolly.' Her family moved back to the family ranch in the Pine Hills, east of Miles City, MT when she turned three. Throughout her life, she shared stories of fun and adventure of ranch life. At age five, in the middle of winter, she and her brother Bud, one year younger, put their little sister Lorraine into their wagon and headed for 'town.' They made it about one mile down the road before their parents found them. Dolly watched her mother change her little sister, Dorothy's, diaper. Inspired, she took a diaper out to the pigpen and attempted to put a diaper on a baby pig until the sow objected. Her mother cleared the fence as she jumped into the pen to rescue Dolly. Dolly loved to share the ranch Christmas story. Their family opened their one gift on Christmas Eve after a visit from Santa. They enjoyed traditional Christmas pudding, fruitcakes and oyster stew with their bachelor friends. She attended elementary school in a country school a few miles from the family ranch. She moved into Miles City to attend high school. Dolly dreamed of becoming a newspaper woman while she worked part-time jobs throughout school. She married Nolan Fandrich on December 22, 1946. After honeymooning in Billings, they moved to Colstrip. She lived there for the next sixty years.
Family was very important to both Dolly and Nolan. They raised their four daughters, Peg, Kay, Pat and Jane in Colstrip when it was very small. The girls have wonderful memories of growing up in Colstrip. Dolly participated in many activities in Colstrip. She and Nolan became charter members of Colstrip United Community Church; Dolly served on the board many times. She supported her children's involvement in school, 4-H, music lessons, sports, and Sunday School, often serving as teacher or leader. Her skill as an artist grew each time she participated in traveling artists' workshops given in the Colstrip area. Dolly and Nolan helped establish the local pictorial history at the Schoolhouse History and Arts Center. In later years, Dolly enjoyed Senior Citizens and served on the county and local Library Board. Dolly loved spending time with her grandchildren; she enjoyed plays, concerts, camps and many other activities with them. Dolly blessed her family with unexcelled cooking, growing flowers and a love of reading.
After Nolan died, Dolly lived alone; she moved to an Assisted Living facility in Butte following a serious stroke on July 4, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nolan; daughter, Kay; brother Bud Preller and sister Dorothy Elliott. Survivors include: daughters, Peg Fandrich, Pat Fandrich, Jane Gardner (Roger); grandchildren, Josh Ensign, Rachel Ensign, Dan Ensign, Jacob Ensign, Gabrielle Fandrich, Elisabeth Fandrich, Emily Gardner; great-grandson, Bob Tyson; sister Lorraine Miller (Bud) and brother, Louis Preller (Marlene).

Glenn R. Ingram
Glenn R. Ingram passed away peacefully on June 5, 2005 in Billings, Montana of a massive stroke.
He was born on April 25, 1928 in Terry, Montana, the son of Glenn Herschel and Winifred Lois (Siegrist) Ingram. He was graduated from Terry High School as valedictorian of the class of 1946. He joined the Army that fall, serving for two years. Upon his honorable discharge, he enrolled at Montana State College and graduated with both a BS and MS in Mathematics. While working on his Masters degree, he also taught at MSC. He earned a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Mathematics from Washington State University in June 1962. Upon graduation, he returned to Montana State University as Director of the Computing Center. In May 1968, MSU received a grant from the National Science Foundation for the purchase of a Sigma 7 computer, one of the largest and most sophisticated computers of that time. The NSF later called him to work for them, thus beginning a long career for Glenn, which divided his time between MSU, WSU and various government agencies. He ended his career at the Bureau of Standards as the Chief of Scientific Computing.
While still in college, he married Eva Stewart, of Helena, MT. Two children, of whom he was very proud, Lois and Glenn, were born to this union. Glenn and Eva later divorced. After ten years, he married Ginger Colao of New Carollton, MD. They made their home in Germantown, MD until July 2000 when they moved to Montana to be near family.
Glenn always felt particularly lucky to be born into such a loving family, especially to have two big sisters, Gladys Helen and Eva, to love and cherish him. As a child growing up, Terry was for him the epitome of all that was right and beautiful in the world. Extremely loyal, he carried the name of Terry to almost every person he ever met. Glenn was a natural born storyteller and could fascinate people for hours about life on the prairies in a small town nestled at the foot of the badlands and the banks of the Yellowstone River. He accomplished so much; from delivering newspapers and mowing lawns to the best available job for a teenager – working at Sawyer’s store, where he started as a box boy and proudly worked his way up through the ranks.
During World War II, a Conscientious Objector’s camp was established just outside of Terry and Glenn often commented that it was a great influence on his life. The men there taught him what it was to be young, educated, well traveled responsible citizens and yet able to truly uphold their strong convictions that one could graciously disagree with a government, even one as great and powerful as the United States. The men joined the young Terry boys in their common passion of playing baseball. This furthered Glenn’s lifelong passion of baseball. As a young child, he and his father faithfully listened to the broadcasts of the Giants, their favorite team. In later years, the Minnesota Twins caught his eye and he became a loyal fan.
Glenn had an unquenchable thirst for reading, in an astonishing array of subjects. He developed an early passion for poetry and great literature. He loved the challenge of the imagination in writing and one could find him reading heavy historical and political tomes in the morning and ending his day reading about UFO’s.
One of the things for which he was most grateful, was of obtaining the foundation of faith and family values in his home church. This foundation would lead him, providing a moral compass and strength for all his life. Following the path of simple faith, he found his way back home – to the community of Terry, his church and the beautiful cemetery, sheltered by the protective arm of the badlands.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Glenn and his sister, Gladys Helen Young. He is survived by his wife, Ginger, of Billings, MT, his daughter, Lois, of New York City, NY, two step-children, Chris Colao and Cathy Colao Ward of Crofton, MD, three step-grandchildren, Stephen Ward, Alicia and Amanda Colao, a sister, Eva (Bill) Chittick of Claremont, CA and former wife, Eva Stewart Bristol of Pullman, WA.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 10, 2004 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry. Interment will follow in the family lot in Prairie County cemetery in Terry.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Prairie County MAF, the Prairie County Library and any hospice.
