Carl Whittmayer
Carl Whittmayer, age 90, of Glendive, formerly of Terry, MT passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Glendive Medical Center.
Carl had lots of friends in Terry, as his home was here from the early 70's. He grew up in Western part of the state and came to Prairie Co. Manor as one of its first residents. He did lots of puzzles, large puzzles 1000-1500 pieces while he lived at the manor. One time was doing a puzzle on top of a puzzle continued to do puzzles as resident at nursing home. He liked to wear lots of pins on his clothing
Carl lived at the Glendive Medical Center for short time between the manor and Terry Nursing Home. He attended the Community Church until moving to Glendive. He loved to go to Senior Citizen for coffee and parties. He really liked the church's Christmas celebration. His favorite holiday seemed to be the one someone would give him candy for.
Walked everyday for years and was a recognizable part of the community. The song he always requested at music events at the Nursing Home was "Them Golden Slippers"
Last summer Carl was the winner of the basket of items from the Prairie County Birthday party. He was very proud of the items he won. Liked to rise early in the morning and them have an early cup of coffee.

Zackary Eugene Smith
Staff Sergeant Zack Smith, age 23, of Miles City, died Monday, September 20, 2004, at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Billings, MT.
Mom and Dad Smith received the glorious gift of Zack on March 10, 1981, in Melbourne, FL. Soon after, the Smith family moved back to Mom's hometown of Miles City. The family lived in Miles City until 1987 when they packed up and moved to the Seattle area of Washington.
During the seven year stay in Washington Zack developed many interests; baseball became a family favorite... even Mom could swing a powerful stick. Zack intensified his love for Miles City through frequent trips to visit his Grandparents and Uncle Roy who would always take him fishing, hunting, and shooting which Zack grew to love so very much.
To Zack's delight, the Smith family moved back to Miles City in 1993. Ice hockey skated its way into Zack's heart as he played the sport throughout his high school career. He attended Custer County District High School and somehow found a passion for auto mechanics. Needless to say his favorite class was auto shop.
In 1999, upon graduation from CCDHS, Zack enlisted in the United States Air Force and excelled as a Aircraft Ground Equipment Mechanic. During the period of his enlistment he served in many foreign lands which include Kuwait, Israel, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, England, and various other parts of Europe.
Zack was in the Air Force for over five and a half years and was soon to be discharged to come home to his beautiful fiancée whom he had stumbled upon not even a year ago while on leave in Miles City. They found the ultimate “LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT” for one another. They were to be married this twentieth of November until this tragedy changed all of his plans.
Zack in his all too short journey into and out of this life was so many things. Zack was outstanding in everything he did, but where he truly excelled was in the giving of himself. To us who knew him best he was the truest friend, loyal to the end. Zack was the greatest brother anyone could've been blessed with. He was the son any parent would cry with tears of pride and joy to be able to have the privilege of raising. He truly was a fine young man and would've grown to be an outstanding husband and father. Zack is leaving behind a growing legacy of lasting loved ones who adore him deeply and the fire of our love will never dim!!!
Zack's survivors include his fiancée, Brandi Lowe of Custer, MT; his father, Thomas; his mother, Donna; older brother, Jeremy; younger brother, Jacob; grandparents, Ronnie and Beverly Molstad, all of Miles City, and Betty Smith of Palm Bay, FL; aunts, Ronna "Nini" Molstad who was like his second mom, Becky Sims and husband Bret of Coeur d' Alene, ID, Teresa Lane and husband Mike of Auburn, WA; Jerry Molstad of Glasgow, MT, Roy Molstad; aunt, Carol "Peanut" Smith of Palm Bay, FL; and uncle Dennis Barnes of Palm Bay, FL. His survivors also include his best friend Chad Dunwald who was like a brother; sister-in-law, Michelle Smith; nephews Caleb and Anthony; niece, Abigail; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; Brandi’s incredible family; and countless numbers of friends any place Zack stepped foot.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2004 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City with family receiving friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. During the visitation, friends are asked to sign a message on the casket.
