Patricia J. Christensen

Patricia J. Christensen died on Sept. 22, 2007.
She was born in Chewelah, Wash., to Luke and Ollie Jean Countryman.
She loved reading and traveling, but music was her passion. We all loved to hear her play the piano.
Patricia called Montana her home and is survived by her husband Merle and three children: Gary, Sheila and Robert; along with nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Yaak Falls, rain or shine.

Stanley E. Person

Stanley E. Person, 46, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital in Libby.
He was born in Eureka, Calif., on Jan. 2, 1962, the son of John and Susan F. (Lay) Person. He grew up and attended school in Libby, and graduated with the class of 1980.
He served in the U.S. Navy, and returned to Libby and worked at the local saw mill and in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He then worked as an over-the-road trucker. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering and woodworking.
Survivors include his parents John and Sue Person; a sister Karen Warner and husband Joe; and a brother Harvey Person – all of Libby; and his wife Colleen and three children of Shelton, Wash.
Services will be Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m., at The Family Worship Center, 2043 Highway 37 N in Libby.
Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Carol A. Petek

Carol A. Petek, 60, a longtime employee of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, died Wednesday, April 2 at Brenden House in Kalispell. Carol was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho to Mr. and Mrs. Leo Pruitt on May 28, 1947.
She was raised and educated in both Bonners Ferry and Libby, remaining in Libby most of her adult life.
She had been an employee of Lincoln County for over 30 years, serving many of those years as a dispatcher at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office until retiring in July 2007.
Carol had been an active member of St. John Lutheran Church for many years and had been a member of the church bell choir and Altar Guild as well.
She had also served as board member and president of the Libby Little League Association. She had a special interest in arts and crafts and had also been an avid reader. Her greatest enjoyment was being a grandma to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne “Tiny” Petek in 1994 and her father.
She is survived by her children: Sarah Williams and Becky Petek, both of Libby, and Marie Hoobery of Caldwell, Idaho; her sisters: Paula Pruitt of San Fransisco, Calif., Val Pellens of Vancouver, Wash., and Candy Kelly of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; her brothers: Gary Pruitt of Seattle, Wash., Stan Pruitt of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and Wayne Pruitt of Hawaii; her mother Delores Pruitt of Bonners Ferry; eight grandchildren: Kirsten, McKenzie, Dawson, Leslie, Chanelle, Melanie, Kyira and Kimberly as well as one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Eric Christiansen officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Nelson & Vial Funeral Home & Crematory.

Linden O. “Fuzzy” Edwards

Linden O. “Fuzzy” Edwards took his place in heaven on April 27, 2008. Born Sept. 3, 1938 to Gilbert and Alice Swanke Edwards in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Fuzzy spent his childhood in the areas of Coeur d’Alene, Trout Creek and Butte.
In 1959, Fuzzy married Marilyn Johnson and resided in Libby until 1983. Fuzzy and Marilyn had seven children: Charles of Billings, David and his wife Sheri, Connie Everett and her husband Ken, Claude and his wife Sis, all of Libby, Pat and his wife Lynda of Fruita, Colo., Kathy McCloud and her husband Marc of Columbia Falls and Teri Beebe and her husband Harry of Libby.
In 1984, Fuzzy married Patricia Pence of Troy where they resided at their home on Iron Creek until the early 1990s. With his marriage to Pat, Fuzzy gained four more children: Mike and his wife Sungi of Mesa, Ariz., and Laurie, Sherry and Heidi, all of California. Fuzzy and Pat moved to Tucson, Ariz. where he continued mining until his retirement.
In 2007, Fuzzy married Renata Hall in Tucson where they lived until his death. In this marriage, he gained yet again two children: Tim and his wife Cheryl and Danny, all of Tucson.
Fuzzy spent many of his years working in the woods falling timber and operating numerous pieces of equipment. In the early 1980s, Fuzzy went to work for ASARCO at the Troy Project and worked there until its closure then continued mining in Tucson until he retired.
Fuzzy enjoyed his leatherwork, as well as the outdoors and was an avid big game hunter for many years. Fuzzy took up wood working later and was a very accomplished carpenter.
With his amazing talent he did a lot of volunteer repairs for his church, friends, mission and the Crisis Pregnancy Centers of Tucson.
However, one of his great joys was to make gifts for family and friends, especially toys for his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the children of the church in Tucson and orphanage in Mexico.
Since 2000, the greatest passion in Fuzzy’s life was his love for the Lord. Fuzzy’s love for the Lord gave him a love for absolutely everything, everyone and giving his time to Caring Ministries and the Phoenix Disaster Relief Program.
Fuzzy was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Alice Edwards and his beloved Pat.
He is survived by Renata at their home in Tucson, all of his 13 children, 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial and celebration of Fuzzy’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 24 at the Libby Christian Church.

Dennis L. Hill

Dennis L. Hill, 61, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Libby, died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 in Denver.
He was born June 27, 1946, in Little Fork, Minn., and as a child came to Libby, where he was raised by his parents, Bill and Erma Baeth.
Dennis attended Libby schools and graduated in 1964. He worked at the Libby Mill until he joined the U.S. Army. He was in the army for 11 years and served two tours in Vietnam. After getting out of the service, he settled in Colorado Springs, Colo. where he worked at a body shop before moving to Denver. He then drove a long distance mail truck for many years before buying his own semi truck in which he hauled miscellaneous merchandise across the U.S.
Dennis loved fishing, hanging out with his good friend Larry Carbajal, and keeping in contact with the family.
He is survived by his brothers, Steven Hill of Laughlin, Nev., Bill and his wife Joyce Baeth of Spokane, Wash.; and sisters Anita Funk and her husband Al of Spokane, Becky Baeth and Carla Foti and her husband Joe of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Dianne Kneller and her husband Dan of Libby. He was preceded in death by his brothers David and Thomas Hill, sister Roberta Brester, and his parents Bill and Erma Baeth.
There will be no services held. Burial will be done in Libby in the spring.

Alice E. Roberts

Alice Elizabeth Roberts was born in Polson on Dec. 4, 1970. The good Lord took her on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008.
While she was on this earth she touched the lives of everyone that she came in contact with. Alice loved life and lived it to the fullest. There was nothing ordinary about her. She was an inspiration to all who met her. Born with a congenital heart defect she never complained about her situation, instead she helped, comforted, and worried about others.
Alice leaves behind many loved family members and dear friends. Among family she leaves behind her beloved husband and best friend Jon Roberts and their two sons Jay and Bryce, her parents Karl and Ellen Kaphammer, sister Liz Courville and brothers Kip and Cal Courville, grandmother Alice Ogden and grandparents Bob and Leoba Engles as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many wonderful friends. Alice had a very special place in her heart for her grandfather Dick Ogden and grandmother Alice Ogden. Alice's love for her family and close friends was unwavering and unconditional. She truly was a beautiful young woman.
Alice grew up and graduated in Ronan. She moved to Post Falls, Idaho when she met the love of her life and her soulmate Jon Roberts. She helped raise his children like they were her own. She loved the great outdoors, and loved being with friends and family.
Alice's big heart was failing her and it was time for a new one. She faced this with courage and excitement. With Jon at her side they made their plans for the future. She moved to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. in October 2007 to begin the wait for her new heart. While there she lived at the Gift of Life Transplant House, where she met many new friends who became like a second family to her.
We will miss her deeply. There will be an emptiness without her presence but a fullness with her spirit in our hearts felt by all. A memorial service to celebrate Alice's life was held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Terrace Lake Road in Ronan.

Robyn R. Dennis

Robyn R. Dennis, 32, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at her home in Libby. She was born Oct. 25, 1975 in Kalispell to Robert and Jeannie Blixt Dennis. She grew up and attended school in Libby, graduating in 1994.
She then found employment as a store clerk at Tidyman's in Spokane, Wash. She later moved to Rapid City, S.D. before returning to Libby in 2001 were she worked at Save Rite West for the past six years.
She loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and traveling. She especially loved her son Trysten. Her father Robert preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son Trysten Allen of Libby; mother Jeannie Dennis of Libby; sister Tracy Lauer and her husband Mark of Libby.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.

Alvin "Al" R. Nicholls

Alvin (Al) R. Nicholls, 81, died Wednesday, Oct. in Libby.
He was born in Butte on April 7, 1926 to Robert and Agnes (Plint) Nicholls and was raised and educated there, graduating from Butte High School in 1943. He came to Libby in 1944; he enlisted in the Army that year and served during World War II. He served in Europe with the 6th Armored Division and earned both bronze and silver stars for his service.
Following the war, he returned to Libby working first for the J. Neils Lumber Company and later for Zonolite and W.R. Grace & Company for 25 years in the company's dry mill. He married Marie Solem on Oct. 18, 1947.
A gifted artist and painter, Al produced many works in oils, water color and acrylic and he, along with his wife Marie, had owned and operated the Kootenai Art Gallery where he taught painting and Marie had instructed in hand crafts. He also had served as an adjunct art instructor at Libby High School.
Al continued to paint until being unable to due to failing eye sight in recent times. He had been an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and hiking in the mountains surrounding the Kootenai Valley.
He is survived by his wife Marie of Libby; a son, Paul Nicholls, also of Libby; a brother, Robert Nicholls and his wife Myrna of Libby; as well as sisters-in-law Norma Vinson and Marlene Nelson and brother-in-law John Solem and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Monday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment services with military honors followed at the City of Libby cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dwayne Delzer

Dwayne Delzer, 82, died Monday, Oct. 1 in Missoula.
He was born at Libby to Gus and Verna (Thomson) Delzer on May 29, 1925. He was raised and educated in Libby and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for four years during World War II. During that time, he married Dorothy Ledum and following his honorable discharge, they moved to Spokane, Wash.
Dwayne attended Kinman Business University and Whitworth College and later was employed as an accountant with General Machinery in Spokane until his retirement. Following his wife's death in 1994, he moved to Missoula to be near family. Dwayne enjoyed attending the activities of his grand nieces Libby and Lacey and attending Grizzly basketball and football games.
Dwayne is survived by his sister, Darleen Kain and her husband John; his niece Laurie Zinke and her husband Dave; and grand nieces Libby and Lacey, all of Missoula; and special friends Kay and Jay Simons of Spokane.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at the City of Libby cemetery. Arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Vikkie L. Olsen

Vikkie Linn Olsen, 52, died Friday, Nov. 2 at her home in Libby following a valiant battle with cancer.
Vikkie had most recently owned and operated a commercial painting business here in the Libby area.
Born March 6, 1955 in Whitefish to Robert and Shirley Olsen, Vikkie came to the Kootenai Valley at the age of 1 with her family where she grew up, attending Libby Public Schools.
She had worked for many years in the operation of The Hiway Delicatessen and was well-known over the years by the many hundreds of patrons who stopped there.
While working at the Hiway Deli, Vikkie began helping people with their painting projects.
This led to the start of a commercial painting business, which soon became much in demand due to her high level of integrity and perfection.
Throughout the years, Vikkie remained a fan of baseball and had been a member of a Montana State Womens Fast-Pitch championship team; she also served as a coach for several girl's baseball teams. Vikkie had also been an avid hunter, still holding the family record for the largest deer (much to her brothers' dismay).
A generous friend who was always willing to help anyone, Vikkie demonstrated tremendous courage and strength of character during these last months as she struggled with her illness that was an example to family and friend alike.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert in 1989 and her aunt Maxine Olsen, whom she was very close to, in 1991.
Survivors include her mother, Shirley Olsen of Libby; six brothers: Michael Olsen and his wife Jayne of Shelton, Wash.; David Olsen and his wife Kim, Allen Olsen and Gary Olsen, all of Libby; Mark Olsen and Brian Olsen and his wife Kathy, all of Kalispell; and sister Doritta Stenson and her husband Dave of Dillon; and numerous nieces and nephews and "adoptive" nieces and nephews, all of whom dearly loved their "Aunt Vikkie."
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Libby Christian Church with interment services to follow at the City of Libby cemetery. Friends may call at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Libby Logger Booster Club, c/o 700 Idaho Ave., Libby, MT 59923.

Roy L. Fletcher

Roy Lane Fletcher, 49, of Libby died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center from natural causes. He was born April 11, 1958 to Charles E. (Gene) and Geraldine (Cottrell) Fletcher in Libby.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a master at huckleberry picking. His father Gene and a son Curtis preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother Geraldine of Libby; son Justin Fletcher of Kellogg, Idaho; grandson Owen Hunter of Kalispell; brothers Jerome and Jim both of Libby, and Steele and Rene of Kalispell; sisters Valorie Sweet and her husband Walt and Mary Beth Stroklund and her husband Larry both of Libby, Letty Overby and her husband Darrell of Randal, Wash., Molly Boggs of Port Orchard, Wash., Betsy Arnold and her husband Neil of Portland, Ore., Linda Leazenby and husband Wes of Bozeman, Mont. and his best friend Lazy Dog; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at the City of Libby cemetery.
Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
