Douglas Ray Poe
December 21, 2015

Douglas Ray Poe, 54, of Great Falls, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 at Peace Hospice.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Doug was born March 28, 1961 at Johnson A.F.B. in Japan to Sam and Darlene Poe. Doug was a kind, loving, gentle and sweet soul. He will be missed by many.
He was a proud veteran. He loved to fish, water ski, and go camping.
Doug is survived by his sisters Joanie (Ken) Kiser, Jackie Poe, Roxann Poe, Dawn (Jerry) Denegar, and Deseree (Tom) Dubay; brother Sammy Poe; nieces Samantha Leathers, Rachel Poe; nephews Lucas Poe-Kiser, Tyler Ophus; and a great nephew and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Darlene Poe.
We would like to thank Dr. Margaris and staff for taking such good care of Doug. Also Benefis Peace Hospice for all the comfort and kindness given our brother and for helping our family through this difficult time.

Grace Myers
December 8, 2015

Grace Agatha Myers, 87, of Great Falls passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015.
No services will be held. Internment will take place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home.
Grace was born on November 15, 1928 in Billings. She was raised in the area and graduated from Billings High School in 1946. After graduation she went on to work for Consolidated Freight Ways in Billings and Glendive. She also worked for the State of Montana Veteran Services and General Mills in Great Falls. Grace owned her own secretarial service for a time before working as a Legal Secretary for Leo Graybill. She then became an Executive Secretary for United Savings Bank before reaching her goal of retirement.
Grace was an avid reader of anything that the author John Grisham published and loved all animals, especially cats.
Grace is survived by her close friends, Colleen Downham, Karen Kohm, Tom and Connie Winjum, Stacy Jarvey all of Great Falls and Udell Eby of San Jose, CA; and her beloved cat Samson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Royal Elsworth Myers and Katherine Ella (Lardy) Myers; brother George Roy Myers; and numerous cats which were her “children.”
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any animal shelter or animal rescue organization of your choice.

Louise J. Antonich
January 7, 2016

Louise Julia (Nicola) Antonich, 87, of Belt, our wonderful mother, grandma, and best friend was called home by the Lord on January 7, 2016.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church in Belt. A vigil service will follow beginning at 6:00 p.m. also at St. Marks Catholic Church. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Louise was born in 1928 in East Helena. She later moved to Belt. In 1947, Louise married the love of her life, Matt Antonich. They lived a life of music, family, and travel while living on the Tiger Mountain Ranch.
Louise is survived by her children, Matt (Bonnie) Antonich, Roger (Mary) Antonich, Joe (Cathy) Antonich, John (Pat) Antonich, Cindy (Bill) Reynen, and Morgan (Kate) Antonich; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt; precious granddaughter Ginny Antonich; parents James and Anna Nicola; brothers James, Leonard, and Lawrence Nicola; and sisters Eva Pontet, Juanatta Hill and Cathy Young.

Myrtle "Babe" Hennessey
September 10, 2015

Myrtle Marie “Babe” Hennessey, a long-time resident of Great Falls, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Missouri River Center from natural causes. She was 90 years old.
A vigil service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, followed by entombment at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum.
Born in Washington on May 19, 1925, Myrtle moved with her mother and siblings at a young age to Great Falls. She met the love of her life, Daniel Hennessey, at a local Elks Club dance, and after dating only a few weeks, they were married in a small ceremony. They were married for 54 years and spent their lives devoted to each other.
Throughout her life, Myrtle served primarily as a nurse’s assistant and a baker, where she worked side by side with her sweetheart, but most importantly was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was well-known for her cooking, her sense of humor, her sassy personality and her loving hugs.
She enjoyed crocheting, painting, her flowerbeds, and spending time with her family, while also being active in her faith at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Myrtle is survived by her five children, Dannie Polk of Lake Bay, Washington, Connie (Paul) Barnhorst of Helena, Sharon Hennessey of Helena, James (Susan) Hennessey of Great Falls, and Donna (Russell) Thunstrom of Great Falls. She is also survived by her brother, Leo Hansen, Jr. of Great Falls; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel; her mother Orpha “Suzie” Kellogg; and three of her siblings.

Cynthia Quarta
September 22, 2015

Cynthia W. Quarta, 73, wife, mother, teacher, author, and community supporter/volunteer, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Benefis Peace Hospice of Montana with family and friends by her side.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 409 13th Street South. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home
Cynthia was born on August 17, 1942 in Merrill, Wisconsin to Mary and Allen Webster. She lived in many locations in her early years including Great Falls for a time attending grammar school here.
In Great Falls, she started taking ice skating classes and was so proud that she got her cousin, Olympian John Misha Petkevich, to join her.
Her family finally settled in Lake Forest, IL in the early sixties where she attended Woodlands Academy and Barat College of the Sacred Heart. In Lake Forest, she met and married her husband of forty five years, Joseph Quarta. Together they had their only child Dr. Michelle Vallie.
Cindy, husband, and daughter moved to Great Falls in 1970, where she worked in the family business for her aunt and uncle, Dr. F.M. Petkevich and Delphine in the X-Ray Laboratory.
She enjoyed everything in life such as being a ballet teacher in her early years, writing, and teaching TaiChi at Paris Gibson Square and The University of Great Falls. Over the years she authored many TaiChi and instructional books for teachers and TaiChi enthusiasts alike. As the president of “Preservation Cascade”, she was very passionate about the restoration and reuse of the historic Tenth Street Bridge in Great Falls.
Cindy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph Quarta; daughter Dr. Michelle (Tom) Vallie, and grandchildren Alyssa and Kylor.

Marlene B. Elliott
September 15, 2015

Marlene Badke Elliott, 80, of Great Falls passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015at 10:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Highland cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Marlene was born in Wadena Minnesota, the youngest of three children born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Badke. She attended grade school in Minnesota and graduated from Pine City High in 1953. She went on to attend the University of Minnesota for one year before transferring to Montana State University in Bozeman as a nursing student. There she was a member of Alpha Tau Delta. She graduated in1958 with her degree in nursing education. She worked as an operating room nurse in the hospitals in Billing, Sacramento, CA, and in Denver, CO. Due to health reasons she left nursing and became a caseworker for Yellowstone Co. in Billings.
Marlene married Raymond John Elliott on December 17, 1963. Together they had three daughters and Marlene became a homemaker. She was very active in school activities while her children were in school. She also helped run the family home rental business.
She enjoyed family, gardening, and reading. Marlene was also a member Of Our Saviors Lutheran Church; taking part in Stephans Ministries, Sunday school, and Martha Circle.
Marlene is survived by her husband Raymond Elliott of Great Falls; daughters Kathleen (Duane) Herigon of Great Falls and Karen Elliott of Corvallis, OR; grandchildren Elliott Herigon, Evan Herigon and Emelia Herigon all of Great Falls.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rhonda Jean.
Memorials are suggested to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA, 01923.

Cheryl Navarro, 58, of Great Falls passed away September 17, 2015. Private family services will be held. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home.

Dorothy Hamman
September 16, 2015

Dorothy “Dot” Hamman, 77 of Great Falls and formerly of Belt, went to heaven on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Dorothy was born on February 4, 1938 to Leo and Annastia Rumpza in Webster, South Dakota; and was raised on the farm, graduating from Roslyn High School in 1956. She moved to Montana in September of 1957 and was employed by the Belt Valley Bank for over 33 years.
On August 2, 1958 Dorothy was united in marriage to Gene R. Hamman at St. Ann’s Cathedral in Great Falls. They were divorced later in life.
Dorothy was known for her many talents which included making wedding cakes, arts and crafts, oil paintings, her special talent of growing flowers, as well as her love of puppy dogs. She was a loving mother who knew the love of Christ and gave us kids life’s greatest gifts.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Dianne (Steve) Nash of Great Falls, Mike Hamman of Belt, and Dale (Becky) Hamman of Stamford, CT.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Bennett.
The family would like to thank Dr. Onstad, Dr. Walker, Dr. Mazur, Dr. Prambi, and all their staff. We would also like to thank Peace Hospice and the Timbers Assisted Living staff for all their wonderful care you gave to our mother.

Shelly M. Stone
September 12, 2015

Shelly Marie Stone, 41, of Great Falls, passed away at home September 12, 2015 after a long Battle with cancer.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2 p.m. at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Shelly was born January 11, 1974 in Townsend and was raised in Missoula and later moved to Great Falls. She graduated from GFHS and received her degree from the University of Great Falls. Shelly worked as a bartender and has been an employee for the State of Montana for 13 years.
Shelly enjoyed family, camping, fishing, card playing, snowmobiling, and 4 wheeling.
Shelly is survived by her mother, Cherie Stone; father Gary (Linda Riley) Spatzierath; grandmother Mary Spatzierath; sister Saundra (Kevin) Ardoin; brother Victor (Kami) Stone; step-sister Susan (Larry Decker) Stone; step-brother Brad (Connie) Stone; nephews Tyler, Justin, Connor, Chance, Christopher, Tyler, Johnathan, Cory, and Brendan; nieces Kendra and Christina, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shelly was preceded in death by her step-father, Kenneth Stone; and step-brother Jeffrey Stone.
We would like to thank all the family and friends who have supported Shelly through this battle.
