She loved school and learning, writing science fiction stories and poetry. She had an active life in cyber space where she belonged to a writing group and corresponded with people around the world. Meredyth was a teacher's aide at the Boise State University Summer Academy, working with 26 school-age children. She loved the children and her work; she liked the idea of being paid but said it was such a great job she would work for sand. One of the last things she did was send all of her students e-mail. Meredyth was a wonderful friend to many people everywhere. At her request, all her organs have been donated to help others in need.
From a very young age, Meredyth was committed to human rights and civil rights. She was an active participant in the annual Martin Luther King Jr./Idaho Civil Rights March. In 1995, she won the Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest with her essay "How Can I Stand For Equality." Meredyth was always concerned for those who were discriminated against and one of her heroes was Rosa Parks. She regularly wrote Letters to the Editor to draw attention to injustice and other issues in our community. She did not hesitate to stand up for and express her beliefs to anyone. Meredyth was small in stature but she made up for it in the strength of her commitments. She made a difference everywhere she went.
Meredyth was a dreamer and a writer; her own words from a poem she wrote express that very well.
If you can laugh,
if you can cry,
if you can dare to touch the sky,
then you can dream a million dreams.

Meredyth laughed, she cried and she dared to touch the sky, she had a million dreams.
Memorials in Meredyth's name can be made to the Boise State University Foundation to support the Martin Luther King Jr./Human Rights Celebration, Bishop Kelly Foundation for scholarships, and the Bishop Kelly Band.
