LEWISTOWN - Mary A. Hruska, 92, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Cloyd Chapel in Lewistown.

George Schara
CIRCLE - George Schara, 80, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at the McCone County Medical Assistance Facility in Circle.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Clayton Memorial Chapel in Circle with inurnment in the Veteran's Circle in Riverview cemetery.

Allen F. Carpenter
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Allen F. Carpenter, 89, died Monday, June 30, 1998, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Viewing will be 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheridan with interment in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Elsie C. Zinne
MISSOULA - Elsie C. Zinne, 86, of Missoula passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at Community Medical Center of natural causes.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1911, in Church, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Anna Spieler. Elsie married Arthur Zinne on June 25, 1935, in Park City. He preceded her in death in September of 1974. Together they resided in Billings until 1951 when they moved to Bridger. Elsie worked for the public school while she was in Bridger. She remained there until moving to Missoula in 1984.

Elsie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bridger, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Missoula, and member of RSVP. One of her greatest joys was being a foster grandmother at the Lewis and Clark Elementary School. Elsie will be remembered for her caring of other people, especially children.

Besides her husband, Arthur, Elsie was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and a grandson. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Zinne and wife, Karen of Billings and Bruce Zinne and wife, Cheryl of Missoula; a brother, Tommy Spieler of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Katherine Forsman of Georgia; four grandchildren, Tracy Zinne of Great Falls, Joel Zinne of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael Zinne and Amy Zinne, both of Missoula; two great-grandchildren, Vander Zinne of Colorado Springs and Nicholas Zinne of Great Falls; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 6, 1998, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bridger at 10 a.m. with Reverend Mark Hofferber officiating. Burial of the urn will take place in the Bridger cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Missoula Manor, 909 W. Central, Missoula, MT 59801 or to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 830 South Ave. W., Missoula, MT 59801. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lawrence 'Larry' J. Hobein
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Lawrence "Larry" J. Hobein, 78, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Kane Funeral Home of Sheridan was in charge.

Doris 'Sis' E. Huth
TOWNSEND - Doris "Sis" E. Huth, 82, lifetime resident of Townsend and Helena, died Thursday, July 2, at Big Sky Care Center in Helena.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Townsend. Connors Funeral Home is in charge.

Dorothy Elizabeth Hawk Egnew
TUCSON, Ariz. - Dorothy Egnew died June 29, 1998, in Tucson.
Born to Harry and Vava Christian on May 19, 1915, Dorothy lost her father in World War I and was raised in Helena, Mont., by her grandparents, Joseph and Emily Hawk.

She graduated from Helena High School and attended Intermountain Union College before marrying Charles Egnew in 1936 and eventually settling in Hardin, Mont., where she was a homemaker and a reporter for the Hardin Tribune Herald. She later worked at the Big Horn County Department of Public Welfare for 23 years, beginning as an eligibility technician and eventually becoming the county director. She sat on two separate Governor's Advisory Committees and was instrumental in both the development of a sheltered workshop for developmentally disabled adults in Hardin and the formation of a Child Abuse Case Management and Treatment Team to address child abuse issues on the Crow Reservation. Throughout her career, Dorothy's interest in the welfare of the poor, downtrodden, and defenseless never wavered and she was particularly vigilant in securing the protection of children. Dorothy counted both Anglos and Native Americans as friends and confidants, choosing to judge individuals on the quality of their character rather than the color of their skin or origin of their culture. She was active in the formation of St. Thomas Episcopal mission, where she played the organ for many years and worked with youth programs.

Dorothy died the beloved wife of Charles of Tucson; the cherished mother of Joan (Victor Stempel) of Tucson, Richard of Phoenix, Robert (Rama Khalsa) of Soquel, Calif.; and Tom (Joan Halley) of Tacoma, Wash.; the adored grandmother of Misha Stempel (Franz Vereyken), Danielle Egnew, Tanya Stempel, Jason Egnew and Halley Egnew; and the proud great-grandmother of Tamlin (Vereyken). She is survived by her sisters, Virginia (Norm Nelson) and Peg (William Fry).

Dorothy is remembered for the fidelity and devotion of her faith, the loyalty and warmth of her friendship, her integrity and courage towards the responsibility of that which she believed to be right, and her love of life and enjoyment of the Creator's providence.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at St. Philip's In The Hills Episcopal Church in Tucson.

Edward Frank Kunesh
RYEGATE - Edward Frank Kunesh, 77, was born in Big Coulee near Ryegate on March 20, 1921, to Edward Ernest and Dolly Gillette Kunesh. He was the third of four children. He passed away Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at his home.
He attended the 79 School at Ryegate and Wilsall School, Wilsall. He graduated from the Hanson Auto & Electric School in welding, May 1938, and the Lincoln School of Welding, Fargo, N.D., July 1939.

He married Alma E. "Betty" Williams on July 3, 1941, in Livingston. They ranched at Ryegate until semi-retirement in 1978. He was also a welder for 50 years. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. His favorite pastime was going to a rodeo and visiting his friends. Through the years, he enjoyed raising good horses.

Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Kunesh; sister, Stella Reynolds; mother and father.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Shirley and Gordon Clark of Helena; son, Robert and Ebbanie Kunesh of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Tammy and Curt Pate of Helena, Tara Clark of Helena, Stefani and Rod Lyman of Victor, C.R. and Cierra Kunesh of Tucson; and great-grandchildren, Rial and Mesa Pate of Helena; sister, Leona Campbell of Tumwater, Wash.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, 1998, at the Ryegate School gymnasium, Ryegate. Perkins Funeral Home arranged the services.

Gregory M. Manly
WOLF POINT - Gregory M. Manly, 39, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, in Wolf Point, from injuries sustained in a train accident.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point.

Ralph L. Nielsen
FORT SMITH - Ralph L. Nielsen, 75, of Fort Smith, died Tuesday morning, June 30, 1998, in the Big Horn County Memorial Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Turner, S.D., a son of Chris and Emilia K. Christensen Nielsen. He grew up and attended school in Turner. Following his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served his country and received his honorable discharge in 1946.

Ralph married Nina McElwain and to this marriage four daughters were born. He was later divorced. He married Judy Ellen Wagenaar on June 26, 1972, in Sheridan and the couple lived in Billings for a short time, before settling in Fort Smith. Ralph operated the Fort Smith Service Center and Shuttle Service until poor health forced his retirement.

He enjoyed bird watching, bowling and his Pomeranian, Holly.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Fort Smith; four daughters, Karen (Wayne) Stanford of Stevensville, Melody Nielsen of Great Falls, Wendy (Ali) Garnaj of Mesa, Ariz., and Randi (Chris) Kisiel of Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters, Ruth (Ernest) Gregory of Flandreau, S.D., Esther Jorgensen, Bernice Hansen and Alma Anderson, all of Viborg, S.D.; two brothers, Harold (Ruby) Nielsen of Egan, S.D., and Orville (Joy) Nielsen of Trent, S.D.; nine grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow the services, private interment of the cremains will follow at a later date. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Big Horn County Nursing Home Activity Fund.

Patrick Cain Honstain
MILES CITY - Patrick Cain Honstain, age 75, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at the Deaconess Medical Center in Billings.
Patrick was born on Sept. 22, 1922, in Miles City, the son of Jay and Mamie (Cain) Honstain. He attended schools in Baker, where he graduated from high school. He entered the US Army in 1944 until 1947. Following the service, he moved to Miles City, where he worked for Gamble Robinson, later operating the Miles City Taxi service and he started the first ambulance business in the area. Patrick married Davida Brown in Miles City on May 5, 1956. He also worked for Miles City Coca-Cola for 20 years and then worked for Holy Rosary Health Center as an engineer for 15 years until his retirement in 1995.

Patrick was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, V.F.W., Eagles, Elks, and the American Legion. He loved his dogs (Max and Charlie), gardening, and the outdoors but most of all, he loved his family.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Davida Honstain of Miles City; one son, Jay Honstain and his wife, Nettie of Billings; one daughter, Laura Lee Honstain of Miles City; two brothers: Al Honstain of Miles City and Art Honstain of Minnesota; two sisters; Olive Sparks of Plevna and Nellie Ducello of Havre; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Prayer services will be held Thursday, July 2, 1998, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Kevin Christofferson officiating. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Holy Rosary Health Center Chapel Fund or to the charity of one's choice.

Fay Marie Kronebusch
GLASGOW - Fay Marie Kronebusch, 67, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow of pulmonary complications.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at the Highland cemetery in Glasgow. Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge.

Howard L. 'Corky' Farwell
MISSOULA - Howard L. "Corky" Farwell, 64, of Missoula, formerly of Pryor, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.
Visitation will be noon-7 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 3, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 6, at the Pryor cemetery.

DeLores J. Nelson
TERRY - DeLores J. Nelson, 78, of Terry, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at the Glendive Medical Center.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, July 3, in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry with interment at a later date.

Leola Busch Swinton
LIVINGSTON - Leola Busch Swinton, 91, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will gather at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston to proceed to Mountain View cemetery for graveside committal services at 1 p.m.

Rosella Granvold
PLENTYWOOD - Rosella Granvold, 68, died Monday, June 29, 198, at her home in Plentywood.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel in Plentywood.

Irene Hougard Sorlie
Irene Sorlie, 83, died June 30, 1998, at Autumn Care Center in Billings.
Irene was born Feb. 6, 1915, at Elklake, Minn., daughter of Pete Hougard and Agie Peterson. She graduated from high school in Strandquist, Minn., earned an elementary teacher's certificate at Moorhead State Teacher's College in Minnesota, received a B.A. degree from Rocky Mountain College in Billings and attained a master's degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Married to George S. Sorlie in 1939, Irene traveled extensively, working in accounting offices and businesses in addition to teaching school.

For 19 years she held positions at Eastern Campus School in Billings and taught extension classes, Upward Bound Program and reading clinics. In 1970, she joined the Billings School District, teaching at Poly Drive School and later served as curriculum coordinator. She influenced many lives and gave her energies to the education field for over 40 years.

Irene's love of colorful yarns and fabric extended a leisure activity beyond the hobby stage. She will be remembered for her sewing skills, handwork and needlepoint creations.

She was a member of NEA, Tau chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Kappa.

Survivors include daughter, Jacqueline Osborne of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Jeffrey Osborne and Katherine Osborne of Anchorage and Natalie Osborne of Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Fern Gilbert of Warren, Minn., and Lorna Johnson of Crookston, Minn.; brother, Ray Hougard of Hampton, Iowa.

Cremation has been provided by Smith Funeral Home and graveside services with family members will take place July 4, 1998, in Strandquist, Minn.

Henry Young Bird Sr.
NEW TOWN, N.D. - Henry Young Bird Sr., 68, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at the clinic in New Town.
A wake service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at the Mandaree High School. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at the high school with interment in St. Anthony's Catholic cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Watford City is in charge.

Mary Elizabeth Williams
EKALAKA - Mary Elizabeth Williams, 85, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at the Dahl Memorial Nursing Home in Ekalaka.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the Stevenson's Funeral Home in Ekalaka with interment at a later date at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic cemetery in Stirling, N.J.

Edna V. Elsom
BUFFALO, Wyo. - Edna V. Elsom, 62, of Buffalo, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998.
Visitation will be 1-10 p.m. Monday, July 13, and 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Adams Funeral Home in Buffalo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with interment in Willow Grove cemetery.

Harvey W. Syring
SIDNEY - Harvey W. Syring, 64, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at the Sidney Health Center.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Fulkerson Memorial Chapel in Sidney.

Edward James Krenelka
SHERIDAN - Edward James Krenelka passed away Tuesday morning at Ruby Valley Hospital. He was born Jan. 26, 1947, in Kenmare, N.D., to James Edward and Frances Ruby Krenelka.
His early schooling was in Kenmare, and in 1961 the family moved to Billings where he went to high school. He joined the Navy in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1970.

On April 11, 1969, he married Janet Albrecht. They moved to Seattle the first year of marriage and returned to Billings in 1974 and lived there until moving to the Ruby Valley in 1991.

He was an iron worker welder for many years. He enjoyed trapshooting, fishing and hunting.

Ed is survived by his wife, Janet; father, Jim; a daughter, Leah; a son, Edward; two brothers, Peter and Kit. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances, and a sister, Kay.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at Chick's Bar in Alder on July 11, 1998, at 3 p.m.
