SCOBEY - Pat Harrington, 45, formerly of Outlook and Plentywood, died Monday, July 20, 1998, as the result of a work accident in Glasgow.
A public vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Outlook. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Plentywood with burial in Outlook. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge.

Wesley B. Ketchum
FORSYTH - Wesley B. Ketchum, 90, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 24, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth with interment in the Forsyth cemetery.

Merlene Leivestad
ROCHESTER, Minn. - Merlene Leivestad, 75, formerly of Savage, Mont., died Saturday, July 18, 1998, at the Rochester Health Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 24, at the Sidney Lutheran Brethren Church in Sidney, Mont., with interment in the Riverview cemetery in Savage. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.

Agnes Ostrom
ROUNDUP - Agnes Ostrom died on July 22, 1998. She was born Dec. 20, 1910, in Hays, Kan., the eldest child of Anton and Dorthea Sack. She was married to Alphonse Beilmon and Woody Ostrom, who preceded her in death. During her life, she worked at various occupations but her favorite was with The Green Thumb program at the Roundup Central and High school libraries.
She is survived by daughters, Jeanette Devine and Imelda Brychta; son-in-law, George Brychta; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorials to St. Benedicts Catholic Church or Roundup School Libraries.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, 1998, at St. Benedicts Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Roundup City cemetery. Wier Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Agnes M. Otis
SILESIA - Agnes M. Otis, 75, of Silesia died July 21, 1998, at Valley Health Care Center with her family by her side.
Agnes was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Billings to Helen and E.M. "Snyde" McDowell. She attended grade school in Silesia and graduated from Edgar High School in 1941. She married Paul G. Otis of Silesia, Nov. 3, 1945.
Agnes was a member of Joliet Senior Citizens, XYZer's Kitchen Band and Rockvale Women's Club. She loved music and spending time with her grandchildren and family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bruce; and two sons, Artie and Lee.
She is survived by her husband, Paul of Silesia; two sons, Duane of Great Falls, Don of Missoula; two daughters, Sue Krone of Billings, Carol McDonald of Park City; grandchildren, Shawnda Musgrave, Randy and Pat Otis, Leslie McDonald, Jason, Janeen, Juanita, Sam and Bryan Krone, Laurie, Daniel and Cody Otis, Shelly Piltz, Brandon Otis and Jodie Hartman; a sister, Corina Slater of Laurel; a brother, Jay McDowell of Billings; a lifelong friend, Iggie Messer; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 1998, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel with interment in Rockvale cemetery. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice or Joliet Senior Citizens Center.

Calvin J. Robinson
KAYCEE, Wyo. - Calvin J. Robinson, 73, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, at the Kaycee cemetery. Adams Funeral Home of Buffalo is in charge.

David L. Sather
LEWISTOWN - David L. Sather, 79, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown of a heart attack.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 24, at the Creel Funeral Chapel in Lewistown with interment in the Lewistown City cemetery.

Ronald Claude Schouboe
BAKER - Ronald Claude Schouboe, 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker from complications resulting from a farm accident.
Ronald was born on June 21, 1922, the son of Claude and Mabel Leppla Schouboe in Golden Valley County, N.D. He started school in the Alpha, N.D., community and completed it in Ollie. Ron broke horses while attending school.
Ronald was married to Florence "Fern" Robbins Rose on Jan. 26, 1944, in Baker. Together they purchased their present farm north of Baker where he began farming and ranching. In the early '60s Ronald became a well-known welder for Cate's Welding and continued his love of welding until the time of his death. He dearly enjoyed fishing and was very proud of the trout pond which he developed on his farm north of Baker. His other hobbies included gardening and working in his shop, building many items from wood, bolts, nuts, and metal.
He is survived by his wife, Fern of Baker; two sons: Donny Schouboe and his wife, Barbara of Pascoag, R.I., and Clarence Schouboe of Gillette, Wyo.; a daughter, Peggy Niemerg and her husband, Larry of Baker; a sister, Adeline Stark of Ollie; five grandchildren: Phillip Schouboe of Durham, Calif., Robin Kimation of Harrisville, R.I., Michael Coddington of Forsyth, Cheryl Niemerg of Aberdeen, S.D., and Brent Niemerg of Phoenix, Ariz.: three great-grandchildren: Tara Schouboe and Joshua and Peter Kimation, all of Rhode Island; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mabel; a sister, Irene Bury; a son, Jimmy; and a granddaughter in infancy.
A Prayer Service will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Stevenson's Funeral Home in Baker. A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the American Lutheran Church in Baker. Interment will follow in the Bonnievale cemetery in Baker. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge of the arrangements.

Howard M. Spencer
CANYON FERRY LAKE - Howard M. Spencer, 76, formerly of Billings, died March 2, 1998, of heart problems.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Helena Sunset Memorial Gardens. Hagler-Anderson Mortuary of Helena is in charge.

Melva Jean Bakken
DENVER - Melva Jean Bakken died July 19, 1998, in Denver. She was born Sept. 20, 1933, in Sidney, Mont. Melva worked for many years with Boeing and Owl Construction before retiring to care for her parents.
Melva is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janis Lorenz of Lafayette, Kim and Marie Lorenz of Anchorage, Alaska; and daughters, Patty Evans of Colorado Springs and Karen Miles of West Jordan, Utah. Melva has 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren whom she was very proud of. She is also survived by her father, Melvin Bakken of Billings; her sisters, Pat Christoffersen of Deer Park, Wash., Dodie Clapper of Billings and Jacque Bucklin of Great Falls; and her brothers, Ted Bakken of Billings and Marty Bakken of Bozeman. She was preceded in death by her mother, Adell Bakken and her sister, Kay Albright.
Melva will be remembered as a wonderful, loving mother who was always there for her children and for all her family and her many friends. Her love, compassion, and caring always extended the walls of her home. We will all be forever grateful for the privilege to call her mother, gramma, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend.
A celebration of Melva's life will be held Friday, July 24, at 10 a.m. in Yellowstone Lutheran Bretheren Church, 310 Governors Blvd., Billings. Memorial contributions can be made to your choice of organization or you may give a donation toward the purchase of several trees to be planted in Melva's memory.

Barbara Clark Bassett
LOVELL, Wyo. - Barbara Clark Bassett, 79, died Monday, July 20, 1998, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Lovell LDS Stake Center with interment in the Lovell cemetery.

Ronald Bohlin
GRANTS PASS, Ore. - Ronald Bohlin, 68, of Grants Pass, formerly of Sheridan, Wyo., died Saturday, July 18, 1998, at his home.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, at the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Howard 'Leo' Davis
GREAT FALLS - Howard "Leo" Davis, age 76, passed away Monday, July 20, 1998, at his home in Great Falls of cancer.
He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Columbus, Ky. On June 1, 1951, he married Norma Kennedy. They were divorced in 1988.
He received his education in Columbus, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the Naval Destroyer USS Frankfurt as Signalman II Class. He came to Helena in the early 1940s to work in CCC Camps. After the war, he continued working in Helena before moving to Great Falls in 1954. He was a truck driver here and later retired from the Burlington railroad as a truck driver in 1984.
He was a member of the VFW and a member of Teamsters Union Local 45. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his partner, Jackie Welsh of Great Falls; daughter, Katie Davis of Great Falls; and son, Bill Davis of Great Falls. He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Davis.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 1998, at Croxford and Sons Rose Room. Memorials may be made to The Gift of Life c/o Benefis Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 7008, Great Falls.

Robert L. Ellis
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Robert L. Ellis, 64, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at Black Hills National cemetery in Sturgis, S.D. Champion Funeral Home of Sheridan is in charge.

Ruth L. Gifford
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Ruth L. Gifford, 76, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at Mortimore Funeral Home with interment in Riverside cemetery, both in Thermopolis.

Violet Mae Paulson Hall
Violet Mae (Paulson) Hall, 94, former Havre resident, died of natural causes on Tuesday July 21, 1998, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Billings.
Her funeral is 10 a.m. on Friday, July 24, at First Presbyterian Church in Havre, with burial in Highland cemetery. Holland and Bonine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital, George/Violet Mae Hall Endowment Fund MSU-Northern, or to the donor's choice.
Mae was born April 14, 1904 in Amery, Wis., to Charles and Clara (Gumpert) Paulson. At age four, she moved with her parents and siblings by emigrant train to a homestead at Belmont. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1922. She graduated with a Life Certificate from Montana State Normal College in Dillon on Aug. 18, 1926, and taught in country schools in Golden Valley County before coming to Havre to teach, for a total of nine years.
On May 30, 1930, she married George W. Hall in Great Falls. They returned to Belmont where they farmed for a short time. They moved to Havre where George Hall was instrumental in Valley Motor Supply Co. They lived in Havre until she moved to Billings on Aug 9, 1990.
Mae was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, D.A.R. Havre Chapter 30, O.E.S. and enjoyed music, dancing, gardening (she loved growing peonies), fancy work and leather tooling.
She is survived by two sons, James (Helen) of Billings and Raymond (Merilyn) of Havre; a brother Willard (Selena) of Spokane, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Elsie Paulson of Lavina; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, one sister and two brothers.

Robert H. Halpin
Robert H. Halpin passed away peacefully at his home on Monday evening, July 20, 1998, after six weeks of tender loving care given by his children, and the informed and able assistance of Big Sky Hospice
He was born on March 21, 1932, in Red Lodge, to Arthur and Ada Halpin. He attended schools in Red Lodge and graduated from Carbon County High School in 1950. He was a member of both the football and basketball teams.
Mr. Halpin joined the U.S. Navy on Oct. 30, 1951 and received an honorable discharge on Oct. 29, 1959. On May 28, 1952, he married Kathleen McDonald in Red Lodge. They lived in California until 1965, when they returned to Montana to make their home in Billings.
Robert was an electrician by trade and a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 532. He retired on March 21, 1992. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, reading Western novels, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends in whatever project they had at the time.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; a son, Patrick, his wife Yvonne and children, Ashley and Cole Halpin of Billings; three daughters, Roberta Gerondale, her husband Mike and children, Chris and Matthew of Glendale, Ariz., Pamela Montchalin, her husband John and son, John, Jr. of LaPine, Ore., Janice Billington, her husband, Scott and children, Michele and Michael of Helena; his devoted mother, Ada Mathews of Red Lodge; a brother, Arthur Halpin of Bridger; three nieces, Cynthia, Linda and Andrea; and one nephew Trent. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Halpin, who was a victim of the Smith Mine Disaster, Feb. 27, 1943.
As requested by Robert, cremation has taken place, and according to his final wishes no services are planned. A memorial gathering will be held at the graveside in the Halpin family lot in the Red Lodge cemetery at a later date. Smith Downtown Chapel of Billings and Olcott Funeral Chapel of Red Lodge are m charge of arrangements.
We as a family are very thankful and appreciative of the services of Big Sky Hospice and ask memorials be made in Robert's name to: Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033; Billings, Mont. 59107, or to the charity of their choice.

Delores M. Hauck
Delores passed away July 20, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital. She was born in Butte, Feb. 20, 1920, a daughter of Paul and Mary Roberts.
She attended Butte High School and graduated in 1940.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; sons, Raymond Brown of Dillon and Edward Brown of Sheridan, Wyo.; stepson, Gary Hauck; grandson, Eugene Hauck; sister, Virginia Sullivan of Butte; and a cousin, Kathren Shaw of Helena. Delores was preceded in death by her sister, Roberta Swartz of Butte.
A memorial service will be held in Boulder, Mont., at a later date.
