Kenneth W. Hill
Kenneth W. Hill, 57, of Billings, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Bozeman.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Dokken-Nelson Funeral Home of Bozeman had charge of arrangements.

Hazel J. Leuprecht
BUTTE - Hazel J. Leuprecht passed away Thursday evening at her home. She was born Saturday, June 14, 1947, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to Albert and Helen Dirksen and moved to Butte at the age of five.
She graduated from Butte High School with the class of 1965.
On Sept. 6, 1986, she married Herb Leuprecht and on April 25, 1996, she adopted his son, Thomas, just as Herb adopted her daughter, Kammie, in a mutual sign of love and commitment to family.
Hazel achieved the Certified Hotel Administrator recognition while working at The War Bonnet Inn in Butte. She was appointed to The Governors Tourism Advisory Council and served several years helping grow a strong tourism industry in the state of Montana.
She was employed at the Copper King Inn from 1980 to 1985 and the War Bonnet Inn from 1985 to 1990. In 1990, she and her husband Herb purchased the Butte Plaza Inn and have flourished in the hotel industry throughout the state. Together they held interests in Best Western Grant Creek Inn in Missoula, Best Western War Bonnet Inn in Miles City, The Richland Motor Inn and The Lone Tree Inn in Sidney. They also operated several local businesses including Management Consultants Inc., Hospitality Specialists Inc., Leuprecht Property Management and Uptown Ventures, which recently purchased the historic First National Bank Building on the corner of Broadway and Main.
Despite her busy work schedule she was the core of a very loving family and always found time to be a devoted wife, mother, a great inspiration to all who were fortunate to meet and visit with her. She loved family gatherings, entertaining friends, cooking extraordinary meals for any occasion and traveling all over the world with her husband Herb. In her own reflections to her family about her life, she felt very blessed to have had the many experiences life had given her including visiting over 18 different countries. Her greatest asset was that she found and taught the positive side of every situation in life.
She is survived by her beloved husband Herb Leuprecht of Butte; daughter: Kammie Phillips of Butte; son and daughter-in-law: Tom and Ann Leuprecht of Missoula; her mother: Helen Dirksen of Butte; sister and brother-in-law: Marianne and Don Johnson of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister: Marcy Hayden of Butte; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Renate and John VanDeHeede of Austria and mother-in-law: Irene Leuprecht of Austria; numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her father Albert T. Dirksen and her brother-in-law: Tally Hayden.
Hazel will be deeply missed as she leaves all of us and now begins her next journey.
Mrs. Leuprecht's remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where friends may call beginning Sunday evening at 6 o'clock with Parish Vigil Services conducted at 7 o'clock. Prayers will be recited Monay morning at 9:30 in the funeral home, proceeding to St. Ann's Catholic church where liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials in memory of Hazel may be made to a charity of the donors choice.

Richard E. Marquess
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Richard E. Marquess, 98, passed away Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Westview Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 in the Elks cemetery. Champion Funeral Home of Sheridan is in charge of arrangements.

Danny O'Neill
HAVRE - Former Havre resident, Danny O'Neill, died on July 16 in Rapid City, S.D. He was born on Feb. 3, 1912, one of seven children born to Martin and Julia O'Neil. Danny was raised on the family ranch east of Havre and attended Havre High School and Northern Montana College.
In 1934, he taught school north of Zurich. In 1936, he returned to college, attending Montana State University where he graduated in agricultural economics in 1938.
After working in New Mexico and Colorado, Mr. O'Neill moved back to Havre with his wife Mickey and purchased the Havre Livestock. Over the course of his years in the livestock business, Danny also owned the Shelby, Malta and Great Falls Livestock markets. He will be remembered by some as the voice of the morning market report on KOJM.
In addition to his work in the livestock business, Mr. O'Neill was co-owner of the Valley Furniture Company for many years. He had a great interest in the state of Montana and the Democratic Party and ran for governor in 1966 and U.S. Congress in 1968.
He may also be remembered for his pride in his Irish heritage. Each year for many years he dedicated a special St. Patrick's Day program of music to his mother, Julia O'Neil.
Danny and Mickey lived in Havre for many years where they raised their five children. Mr. O'Neill was preceded in death by his wife Mickey and sons, Tim and Tracy. He is survived by his daughters Patti of Seattle, Nancy and her husband Larry Huss of Portland, Ore., Sharon and her husband Leroy DiPasquale of Rapid City, S.D., and five grandchildren: Daniel and Robinson Huss and Antonio, Dominick and Mario DiPasquale.
Danny will be remembered at a rosary at the Holland-Bonine Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23 at 7 p.m. and a Memorial Mass at St. Jude's Church on Friday, July 24 at 1 p.m.
Our Dad and grandfather has been a source of great love and strength to us all. His kind presence and great sense of humor will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to your local Hospice, the Parkinson's Association, Aids Foundation, or the American Cancer Foundation.

James 'Russ' Porten
MILES CITY - James "Russ" Porten, 79, passed away Thursday, July 16, 1998, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, in the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at a later date in Marshall, N.D. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of arrangements.

Joshua Stewart Randall
Joshua Stewart Randall, son of Craig and Jackee (Deibel) Randall, of Broadus, Mont., went to be with the Lord on April 9, 1998, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Joshua is survived by his parents, a sister, Kari Randall; three brothers Lee, Tayler, and his twin brother Jay Randall, all of the family home; grandparents: Doug and Lucille Randall of Broadus; Jack and Mary Lou Deibel of Volborg; Harlan and Peggy Jones of Broadus; great-grandparents, Buster and Gladys Deibel of Olive, Mont.; AnnaLe Stewart of Malta; and many aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Pete Stewart.
Family services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the Randall Ranch. Interment will follow at the Randall Ranch. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Broadus is in charge of arrangements.

Eloise Solberg
Eloise Solberg, 87, of Billings, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital. She had been a resident of Aspen Meadows Retirement Community the last 3-1/2 years.
The daughter of Arthur and Alice Knaak, she was born Dec. 6, 1910, in Mapleton, N.D. She was raised and educated in Mapleton and graduated from high school in 1929. Eloise then moved to Billings and married Bjarne Solberg. They were married 53 years. Bjarne and one son, Darell, preceded her in death.
Eloise enjoyed her family, friends, and community activities. She was a volunteer at Deaconess Hospital for 25 years.
Survivors include her two daughters, Charlotte Pemberton and Darlene Zuck (Les); seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; her brother Ken; and her sister Mazie.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Memorials may be sent to the Habitat for Humanity, 100 24th St. W., Billings, MT 59102, or the charity of one's choice. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Alderson Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Max William Sullivan
Max William Sullivan, age 79, of Billings, died Friday, July 17, 1998, at his home.
He was born March 8, 1919, at Burlington, Wash., the son of Fred and Mabel (Stevens) Sullivan. Max was raised and received his education in Seattle. He worked for Boeing Aircraft for seven years.
Max married Gayle Papez on May 19, 1950, in Reno, Nev. They lived in Billings, where Max was associated with Duro-Test Industrial Lighting for 31 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Ashlar Lodge 29, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Al Bedoo Shrine and Billings Elks Lodge.
Max is survived by his wife, Gayle; one brother and his wife, James and Karen Sherblon of Marysville, Wash.; two sisters, Jerene Cunningham and Laura Kelly both of Seattle; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, at Smith's West Chapel, 304 34th St. West.
Memorials may be made to the Al Bedoo Shrine Transportation Fund or Building Fund; P.O. Box 20673; Billings, Mont., 59104.

William H. Uphaus
GLASGOW - William H. Uphaus, 87, passed away Thursday, July 16, 1998, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital of natural causes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 20 in the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Highland cemetery in Glasgow. Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Everett Wiser Sr.
Donald Everett Wiser Sr., 69, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at his home in Billings. He was born July 11, 1929, in Butte, a son of Everett and Estelle Wiser. Don married Ramona Triner at Burtonwood Air Force Base, England, in 1954.
Don served four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954. He worked at Continental Oil in Butte as a clerk from 1947-1951 and again from l954 to 1955. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Montana. He was employed by the USDA, Forest Service for 28 years. He served on the Nez Perce National Forest in Grangeville, Idaho, from 1959-1961; the former Kaniksu National Forest in Sandpoint, Idaho, from. 1961-1965; and the Custer National Forest in Billings as Administrative Officer from 1965 until his retirement in June, 1985.
The thing Don loved best was his family. Gathering with all his relatives at the Reservoir Lake for camping, fishing, and fun was his greatest enjoyment. He loved music, especially polkas, big band, swing, and country music. In his younger years, he played the saxophone for the Butte High Band and a local Butte swing band. The band played throughout Jefferson and Silver Bow counties in the late 1940's. There wasn't an instrument that he couldn't sit down and play.
Don was an avid gardener raising and canning "prize" tomatoes, and other vegetables each year. His garden was one to be envied, praying mantises and all. He loved being in his yard and in his garden.
Don looked at life in a practical, realistic manner. He felt you should be thankful for all the good in your life and not pity yourself for the bad. He was forthright and true, respected and loved. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by a son, Don (Myrna) of Longmont, Colo.; daughters, Linda Susan of California, Janet (Bob) Nickoloff and Sandy (Dave) Marquis of Billings, and Laurie Carlin of Boise, Idaho; His mother, Estelle Wiser, of Butte; his brother, Robert (Maureen) Wiser of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his sister, Lorelei (Tom) Susanj, of Butte; ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; his wife; and a son, Steven Ray Wiser.
Following private family committal services, memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 18, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist's Alderson Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Northern Rockies Cancer Center, 1041 N. 29th St., Billings, Mont. 59101.

Harold Jacob Baus
LAUREL - Harold Jacob Baus, 82, of Laurel, was born June 23, 1916, in McCook, Neb., to Russian immigrants, Jacob and Mary Elizabeth Rhinehart Baus. He went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 15, 1998.
His family farmed in Wyoming and Montana before settling in Laurel in 1939. He worked various jobs as well as helping run the family farm. He was employed by the Northern Pacific in 1947, learning various crafts. Harold retired from Burlington Northern in 1980.
He loved gardening, building, reparing small appliances, and collecting old things. He loved children and enjoyed playing Santa at parties. Harold dearly loved his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Survivors include daughters, Marcia Amos a.k.a Maryanne Deville, Shari (Quentin) Kingfisher, and Cindy (Phil) Chapple; grandchildren, Billie Jo Hernandez, Cherish (Greg) Tonn, Hope and Gayle Chapple, Jacob and Aaron Cevera; great-grandchildren, Kamisha and Zack; brothers, Gerhard and Victor Baus; and sister, Carol (Phil) Danssaert. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Howard.
Funeral and burial are pending in Laurel. Cremation or Funeral Gallery is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Cindy Chapple, 416 4th Ave., Laurel, Mont., 59044.

Emy Siegel
LAUREL - Emy Siegel of Laurel passed away peacefully after a short illness with her loving husband and family at her side.
She was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Yukon, Okla., and grew up in the Midwest. She married William Siegel Aug. 1, 1946. They lived all over the world while Bill was in the air force.
They moved to Laurel in 1964, when they bought the Laurel Nursing Home where she worked as an LPN.
She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, playing bridge and pinochle, trips to the lake and Air Force reunion trips with Bill's fighter squadron group. She had a special fondness for the recreational opportunities in Nevada.
Emy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bud and Charlie Crawford; and two sisters, Challis Wooten and Berchel Cudd.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Billie Hanna of Laurel; son, Guy Siegel and wife, Sharon of Kent, Wash.; son, Jay Siegel and wife, Nancy of Billings; seven grandchildren, Nanette Johnson of Laurel, Guy Siegel II and Jeff Siegel of Kent, Wash., Nicholas Siegel of Absarokee, Brandi, Amy and Danielle Gillis of Billings; two great-grandchildren, Sierra and Treyton of Kent, Wash.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Dahl Funeral Chapel, 10 Yellowstone Avenue, in Billings.

Julitta 'Oma'
Bernhardt Schanz
Julitta "Oma" Bernhardt Schanz, 94, passed away at Deaconess Medical Center on Wednesday, July 15, 1998, of natural causes.
Oma was born in the Ukraine on Nov. 25, 1903, to Sebastian and Anna Bernhardt. In 1929, she married Christian Schanz. She had three sons Christian, Arkadius "Arthur," and Viktor. With her sons, they endured an incredible journey by wagon from the Ukraine to Germany. In 1951, they left Germany and moved to the United States. She and her sons traveled by train to Ryegate, to reunite with relatives. Later, Oma moved to Billings where she resided until her death.
Oma enjoyed being with her family, baking, and tending to her flower garden. Her entire family will miss her.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Christian and Rosa Schanz of Montgomery, Ill.; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Rachel Schanz of Billings; a son and daughter-in-law, Viktor and Margarete Schanz of Milton, Wash.; six grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitations will being Sunday afternoon at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 20, at the Smith Downtown Chapel and will proceed to Sunset memorial gardens for a 2 p.m. graveside service.
