Sister Mary Conrad Ihlefeld
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - Sister Mary Conrad Ihlefeld, 87, formerly of Billings, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at Ross Hall, Mother House.
A vigil will be at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in Ross Chapel of the Sisters of Charity Mother House where friends may call after 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in Ross Chapel with interment in Mount Olivet cemetery on the Mother House grounds. Davis Funeral Chapel is in charge.

Charles Sooktis Sr.
LAME DEER - Charles Sooktis Sr., 83, of rural Lame Deer, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at his home.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Lame Deer Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at the church with interment in the Family cemetery near Lame Deer. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is in charge.

John O. Hage
LEWISTOWN - John O. Hage, 78, formerly of Kolin, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Valle Vista Manor of natural causes.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Cloyd Funeral Home Chapel with interment in the Lewistown City cemetery.

Frances C. Doran
MILES CITY - Frances Cecelia Doran, age 95, of Miles City, passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Frances was born on Dec. 29, 1902, in Spring Valley, Ill., the daughter of John and Anna (Winski) Mrogenski. Frances attended grade schools in Spring Valley. In 1917, her family moved to Crow Rock where she completed her schooling. Following graduation, she lived with her parents on Tree Coulee. She then went to work in Miles City as a housekeeper for the Sawtell and Rawson families.

On June 24, 1926, Frances and John Doran were united in marriage. They ranched in the Crow Rock area until retiring in 1953 and moving to Miles City. In 1962, John passed away. Frances was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved to crochet and write to her pen pals. She also enjoyed doing the linen at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Tat.

She is survived by a son, Jack Doran and his wife, Clare of Crow Rock; three daughters: Ann M. Bird, of Volborg, Ruth Roos and her husband, Ray of Miles City, and Dorothy Doran of Miles City; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; one daughter, Evelyn Rautio; two brothers: John and George; and one sister; Martha.

Vigil services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Gil Hemauer-Capuchin celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot in the Calvary cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Home Health Care or the Holy Rosary Extended Care.

Russell C. Scoville
WOLF POINT - Russell C. Scoville, 79, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at his home.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the chapel with interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Leonard Frank Armstrong
Leonard Frank Armstrong, 80 of Billings, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 26, 1998, at Aspen Meadows Retirement Community. The son of Albert and Theresa (Fischer) Armstrong, he was born in Royalton, Minn., Oct. 20, 1917.
He married Leona Terlson of Forsyth on Sept. 1, 1939. Leonard worked 40 years for the B.N. Transport and Burlington Northern as a mechanic. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren and was a 50-year member of Rimrock Lodge No. 149.

Survivors include his wife, Leona; his son, Keith and his wife, Marilyn of Columbia Falls; his son, Allen and his wife, Mary of Bozeman; his daughter, Jo Ann of Laurel; two granddaughters, Karla and her husband, Greg Smerker of Butte and Wendy and her husband, Kevin Cook of East Helena; three grandsons, Kevin, Paul, and Max Armstrong of Bozeman; and one great-granddaughter, Sydney Smerker of Butte. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Friday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Alderson Chapel. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Laurel cemetery. Friends and family will gather at 12 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary before departing for the cemetery at 12:30. Leonard's family requests that no flowers be sent.

Dorothy Nagel
TWIN FALLS, Idaho - Dorothy Nagel, 76, of Twin Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at her home.
Dorothy was born May 18, 1922, at Shields, N.D., to Conrad and Elizabeth Weschenfelder. At five years of age she moved with her family to Park City, Mont., where she grew up and attended school. On Jan. 6, 1944, she married Emil J. Nagel at Laurel, Mont.

Because of Mr. Nagel's work in road construction they traveled extensively in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. In 1966, they settled in Rupert. Mr. Nagel died in 1968, and Dorothy moved to Twin Falls that same year.

Dorothy worked as a seamstress and did alterations in local department stores for 20 years. She enjoyed making Teddy Bears and quilts and loved her dog, Mindy Jo. She was a member of the Twin Falls United Methodist church and the First Congregational Church in Laurel.

She is survived by a daughter, Loretta (Dan) Kimpton of Twin Falls; a brother, David Weschenfelder of Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Elizabeth Baxter of Kemmerer, Wyo., Emily Shuman of Big Timber, Mont., and Lydia of Park City. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, a sister and her parents.

A funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel. Burial will take place at Park City cemetery.

Ada M. Wier
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Ada M. Wier, 76, of Cheyenne, former Lewistown, Mont., resident, died Tuesday evening in United Medical Center in Cheyenne of natural causes.
She was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Klein, Mont., the daughter of Joe and Susie (Demany) Masini. She received her education in Klein, graduating from Klein High School. She then attended the University of Montana.

On Jan. 3, 1944, she was united in marriage to James A. Wier in Roundup. In 1953, they moved to Lewistown and established Wier Furniture. She made her home in Lewistown and was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild. She moved to Cheyenne to be near her daughter in 1996.

Ada was a kind, wonderful and dedicated mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed embroidering and attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren. In recent years she was an avid Rockies and Broncos fan. Her family and all that knew her will dearly miss her.

Ada is survived by two sons: Jim of Lewistown and Bill of Bozeman, Mont.; two daughters: Janet Taylor of Cheyenne and Kellie Bleth of Billings; her mother, Susie Masini of Roundup, Mont.; one sister, Erma Ross of Roundup; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her father and one son, Pat, preceded her in death.

Vigil Services for Ada N. Wier will be Friday at 7 p.m. in the Cloyd Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church. Committal will be in Mount Calvary cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may make memorials to the Lewistown Youth Baseball/Softball Association and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

June Conolly
LEWISTOWN - June Conolly, 68, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at her home of natural causes.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at the Central Montana Memorial Gardens. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge.

Mike Perrella
ROUNDUP - After a long and courageous battle with the complications of diabetes, Michael M. (Mike) Perrella passed away in the early morning hours of Aug. 26, 1998, at his home in Roundup.
Mike was born to Domenick and Maddalena (Campanella) Perrella in Boiano, Italy, on Jan. 28, 1922. In November 1930, speaking very little English, Mike, his sister, Concetta, and their mother immigrated to the United States to rejoin their father on the family homestead west of Roundup. He attended St. Benedict's Parochial School and graduated from Roundup High School in 1939.

Mike worked as a coal miner (as had his father), a grocer, and a meat cutter. In 1942, he lost his right hand in an accident. He set out to prove that he could still do anything he wanted and do it his way. In the 1940s and 1950s he simultaneously operated Mike's Carter Service, Mike's Standard Service, and Mike's Service, all in Roundup. In 1959, Mike moved his business to its present location in Roundup. Since 1963 this family-run business has been the GMC Truck Dealership for Roundup and the surrounding area.

Through membership in the Patrician Club at St. Patrick's Church in Billings (now St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral), he met Catherine Wambeke. They were married at the church on Oct. 29, 1955. Mike was a member of St. Benedict's Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents (September 1967) and his wife (July 1987). Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Louis (Concetta) Picchioni; his three sons: Patrick (Debra), Anthony (Cindy), and John (Janell), and his five dearly-loved grandchildren: Marcus, Chrissy, Katie, Jackie and Michelle, all of Roundup.

Evening prayers and rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, at St. Benedict's Church in Roundup. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the church with internment in the Roundup City cemetery. Wier Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Benedict's Church, the Knights of Columbus scholarship fund, or Roundup Hospice.

Robert C. Knudson
Robert C. Knudson, 65 of Billings, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, in Billings.
Robert was born Oct. 20, 1932, to Clarence and Florence Knudson in Dunn Center, N.D. He entered the Marine Corps in September 1951 and was discharged in September 1954. While serving in the Marines he met Mildred Wunduke. They were married Sept. 13, 1952, in Yuma, Ariz. They resided in Garden Grove, Calif., before moving to Billings in 1972. A heavy equipment operator, Bob was a member of the Operating Engineers Locals 40 and 400 since 1954. In 1983 he started his own business, "Bob's Backhoe." He retired in 1991.

Survivors include four children and their families, Robert Knudson, his wife, Karen, and their children, Katie and Kristy of Olympia, Wash.; Cindy Newmiller, her husband, Doug, and their children, Kyle and Erica of Billings; Karen Merchant, her husband, Jim and their children, Ashley and Michael of Billings; and Lori Ernst, her husband, Richard and their children, Anne and Bryan of Billings; a sister, Shirley Weigel of Monroe, Wis.; and a brother, William Knudson of Dubuque, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Midge, parents, and brothers, John and Leonard.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at King of Glory Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors will be 3 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation, Occidental Tower, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite No. 370, Dallas, TX 75244. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, Alderson Chapel, has charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Pauline Haberreiter
Dorothy Haberreiter, age 60, died peacefully at her home in Billings surrounded by her family on Aug. 25, 1998. She was born on Nov. 29, 1937, in Richey, to Jacob and Christina (Kunz) Scheck. Dorothy grew up in Richey and Circle and then moved to Billings in 1952.
She married Max Haberreiter on Dec. 26, 1967, in Reno, Nev. Dorothy worked for Retail Credit Company for 15 years, then left to get her degree in elementary education, then taught school in Lewistown and Columbus. After her children began school she worked for Deluxe Check Printers. Recently she had worked for Fleet Mobile Copying.

She loved her husband and children deeply, and took great pride in her new granddaughter, Andrea. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, reading and spending time with her family. She also spent many hours doing volunteer work at St. Vincent's Hospital. Dorothy was a strong Christian woman who gave 100% to the happiness and well-being of family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Max: her two daughters, Joyce Willis and husband, Mike, and Ginger McDermott and husband, Edward; her son, Daniel Haberreiter; stepdaughter, Janet Morehead; stepson, Richard Haberreiter; brother, Roy Scheck and wife, Cathy; brother-in-law, Lewis Haberreiter; and granddaughter, Andrea Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Erwin.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Billings. Visitation will be held until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings.

Gerald L. Bickel
MILES CITY - Gerald L. Bickel, 55, of Miles City, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Bullis-Graves Memorial Chapel with cremation in the Eastern Montana Crematory. Private interment of ashes will be at a later date.

Irene L. Harrod
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Irene L. Harrod, 92, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, in Sheridan Manor.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the First Presbyterian Church. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Walter G. Dyer
WORLAND, Wyo. - Walter G. Dyer, 79, of Worland, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at the Bryant Funeral Home, and 1-2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at the First Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

Michael Perrella
ROUNDUP - Michael "Mike" Perrella, 76, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at his home.
Viewing will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Wier Funeral Chapel. Rosary/vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the church with interment in Roundup City cemetery.

Victor Irigoin
BROCKTON - Mass of Christian Burial for Victor Irigoin, 75, of Brockton, 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, with Father Greg Staudinger, presiding. Christian Wake service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at the Fulkerson Memorial Chapel, Sidney. Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery, under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.
Victor died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at the St. Vincent's Hospital and Health Center in Billings.

Victor is survived by his wife, Betty, Brockton; daughters, Dianna Branstetter, Laurel and Peggy Franzen, Sidney; sons, John and wife, Maureen Irigoin, Great Falls, and Michael and wife, Mary Irigoin, Brockton; 11 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters.

Raymond M. 'Scotty' Howard
Raymond M. "Scotty" Howard, 80, of Billings passed away at his home. He was born June 4, 1918, in Huntley, son of Clyde and Maude Howard.
Scotty grew up in Huntley and graduated from Huntley Project High School. He married Wynona M. Miller, March 14, 1941, in Billings.

Scotty joined the Billings Police Department where he served for 20 years until retiring in 1969. He moved to Seattle in 1973, then returned to Huntley in 1981 to work as City Court clerk in Billings until his second retirement.

Survivors include three sons: Guy A. of Miami, Fla., Gary R. of Sidney, and Glen N. of Miami; three daughters: Mrs. Steven (Jean Ann) Alexander of Healdsburg, Calif., Mrs. Bruce (Zita Gail) Borgen of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Kevin (Anita Jill) Mason of Washougal, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Wynona.

Funeral services at Smith Downtown Chapel, 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28. Interment will follow at the Huntley cemetery.

Emma (Sally) McGimpsey
DENTON - Emma (Sally) McGimpsey, a longtime Denton resident, passed gently from this earth on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 25. She was 81.
After suffering a devastating stroke on New Years Day, Sally met her day-to-day challenges with the perfect patience and resignation that made her a world class mother, friend and community member.

Sally will be missed by her four children, Phil, DeWayne, Jim and Jane; her eight grandchildren; and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her son, Donald.

A prayer vigil in Sally's honor will be held Monday evening, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. followed by a memorial Mass Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m. at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Denton.
