Mary Jean Stephenson
On Aug. 31, 1998, Mary Jean Stephenson joined her God and her husband. She was born Aug. 4, 1922, on the family farm west of Broadview, the daughter of John and Mary (Powrie) Hanser.
Mary Jean graduated from Broadview High School and attended Billings Business College. She served our country during WWII as an aircraft mechanic in Spokane, Wash., and San Diego, Calif.

Mary Jean married John Stephenson, Sept. 5, 1945, in Ryegate. They lived on Dean Creek, where they farmed and raised cattle. Mary Jean and John had four children, Jeanie, Steve, Pat, and Susie. They later moved to Roundup and in 1957, John preceded Mary Jean in death. Mom dedicated the rest of her life to her children.

She is survived by her two daughters and two sons, her four sisters and one brother, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The casket is closed. A vigil service will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at St. Bernard's Parish. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at St. Bernard's Parish with Rite of Committal in the I.O.O.F. Odd Fellows cemetery in Roundup. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Alderson Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Paul G. Koltiska
WORLAND, Wyo. - Paul G. Koltiska, 56, formerly of Sheridan, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Washakie Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.

Arvid Morstad
PLENTYWOOD - Arvid Morstad, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Sheridan County Civic Center with interment in Plentywood Memorial cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Juanita May Barling
CODY, Wyo. - Juanita May Seaberg Barling, 82, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at West Park Long Term Care Center.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Ballard Funeral Home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1719 Wyoming Ave., with interment in Riverside cemetery.

Kenneth Ross
POWELL, Wyo. - Kenneth Ross, 74, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, in the Powell Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Powell. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home in Powell.

Mary Joan Rukstad
Mary Joan Rukstad, age 66, of Billings, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, with her family at her side.
She was born April 26, 1932, in Watertown, S.D., to Robert and Freda (Hall) Porter. She was raised in Watertown.

She married Harry Milton Rukstad and gave birth to five sons. They moved to Laurel, Mont., where they resided for five years. She then moved to Billings where she raised her children. She worked at The Turf, The Vegas Club, Wong Village and Polly's Quality Cleaners.

Mary served people all her life. Her proudest accomplishment in life was her family who dearly loved her for her many sacrifices, her strengths and her caring wit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert (Bob) Porter and her youngest son, Craig, who was four years old. Mary is survived by her children: Harry and wife Bev, Gale and wife Carolyn, Marty and wife Patty and Bruce and wife Diana all of Billings; grandchildren: Kellie, Michael, Stacy, Dawson and wife Kadeshia, Jamie, Jennifer, Deanna, Aaron, Craig, Chad and Andrew; great-grandchildren: Christian, Hunter, Riciah and Akira; and brother and sisters: Marge Benoist, Pat Smith, William (Bud) Porter, Dolores Lindner, Lovyce Smith and Marcia Spencer.

Mary's first great-grandchild, Christian, helped give meaning and fulfillment to her life as did all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her lasting legacy will be her caring, compassionate and giving spirit. She will remain in the hearts of her family eternally.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Smith's Downtown Chapel. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Steven Langwell
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Steven Langwell, 42, of Thermopolis, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998 at the VA Hospital in Sheridan, Wyo.
Private family graveside interment of cremated remains will be held Friday in Thermopolis. Cremation was held at Cremation or Funeral Gallery in Billings.

Roy J. Guszregen
Roy J. Guszregen, 74, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at his home in Billings.
Private family graveside interment of cremated remains will be held in Conrad at Hillside cemetery. Cremation has taken place at Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Viola Wallstein Green
MESA, Ariz. - Viola Green, a former Baker and Ekalaka, Mont., resident, died Sept. 3, 1998, at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa.
Viola was born to William and Mary-Feiock Neiffer on April 6, 1924, in Eureka, S.D. Viola was six years old when the family moved to Baker. Viola attended school in Baker. Viola worked with her family on their farm in Baker. In February 1942 Viola married Ernie Wallstein. Ernie and Viola ranched in Mill Iron until 1969. At that time Ernie and Viola retired to Spearfish, S.D.

Viola spent her time in Spearfish studying in various college courses and traveling with her husband Ernie. A highlight in her life was traveling by boat with Ernie to Europe. Their extensive trip was a memorable one and allowed Ernie the opportunity to return to his home country of Germany for the first time in over 40 years. Ernie and Viola moved to Mesa in 1970. Ernie and Viola's dedication to each other was paramount to their lifelong relationship. Ernie died in 1979, in Mesa.

Viola married Darrell Green in 1983 in Mesa. Darrell and Viola spent their time traveling together and enjoying a very special companionship with each other. Darrell died in 1996 in Mesa. Viola spent the last few years in Mesa living in her home, spending time with her family and close friends.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, and nephew, Bryan Steffes. She is survived by a brother, Ruben Neiffer of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Lee Steffes, Lewiston, Idaho; nine nieces and nephews, and numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Sept. 10, 11 a.m., at Clearview Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mesa. Interment will follow at Mesa City cemetery. Bunkers Mortuary, Apache Trail in Mesa is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Viola to The General Missionary Fund, 1741-40 S. Clearview Drive, Mesa, AZ 85208.

Morine Anderson
EKALAKA - Morine Anderson, age 81, of Ekalaka, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at the Dahl Memorial Nursing Home in Ekalaka. She was born on Nov. 30, 1916, the daughter of Bob and Grace Moles Renshaw at the homestead at Elgin. She attended rural school at the Sykes and Central schoolhouses. Morine graduated from the Ekalaka High School with the class of 1934.
Morine and her brother, Morris, purchased the Abstract Office in Ekalaka in 1935. They operated it together until 1942 when Morine purchased the business. She operated it until 1967. Morine was married to Walter Anderson on June 17, 1937, at Ekalaka. They made their home in Ekalaka until moving to the "Anderson Ranch" located on Little Beaver Creek north of Ekalaka.

She was very active in community affairs, especially the Chamber of Commerce and Republican-related clubs.

Morine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter in 1977; and her brother, Morris.

Survivors include: a daughter, Kay Gundlach and her husband, Don of Miles City; two sons, Walter Anderson of Gillette, Wyo., and Tom Anderson and his wife, Rita of Wauwatosa, Wis.; five grandsons, four great-grandchildren; and a niece, Lorine Williams of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; and several cousins, residing in California, Arizona and Oklahoma.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, in the Congregational Church in Ekalaka with Pastor Wallace Fox officiating. Burial will be in the family lot of the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Ekalaka. Stevenson Funeral Home of Ekalaka is in charge of the arrangements.

Jean Mock
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Jean Mock, 72, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Kane Funeral Home with interment in the Eagles section of Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Clifford Doney
Clifford Doney went to heaven on Sept. 2, 1998.
He was born on April 4, 1980, the son of Stewart Doney and Debbie Linsebigler. He was a cherished son and beloved brother. Clifford had a big heart, a warm sense of humor with a charming smile that touched the lives of the people who loved him.

Clifford led an active life. His favorite activities included fishing and hunting with his brother, listening to music and cruising with his sisters and home boys. Clifford also enjoyed gardening with his grandma, spending quality time with his only son and family members.

He lived life to the fullest, taking joy out of all that he did. Clifford will be deeply missed by his father and mother; his big sister, Vanessa Gonzalez; brothers, Arthur (Eugenia), Stewart Jr. (Michelle, Morgan, Kelsy), Hughi John, Glen, Victor and Timmy; his son, Isaiah; Grandma Minnie; Grandpa Johnny and Grandma Linda; special nephew, Angel; and by Victor Nava, who loved him like a son; and Prima, Jesse, Victoria and Tanya Nava, who he took as sisters; his loving companion, Yvonne; his uncles and aunts, James (Marlene) Ponce, Jessie (Julia) Mota, Bill and Loretta, Rienold and Marie, Arnold (Deann), Joann, Gary, Glen, Warren, Olivett and Sonny; numerous nephews and nieces; and special friends that all played an important part in his life.

Leonard Bear Sr.
POPLAR - Leonard Amos Bear Sr., 71, died on Sept. 15, 1998, at the Poplar Community Hospital.
Leonard was born on March 31, 1927, the son of Edward and Constance Bear in Poplar. He was raised in the Chelsea community, attended schools in Poplar and Flandreau, S.D., and Bacone College in Oklahoma where he earned a Golden Glove in boxing. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Marines and the Air Force, being discharged in 1948. In 1984, he graduated from the Fort Peck Community College in Poplar with an AA degree.

After attending Bacone College, he married Bertha Bluestone in Albuquerque, N.M. They moved to California where he worked for the Chrysler Corp. for 20 years until the plant closed in 1972. After the death of Bertha in 1974, he moved back to Poplar in 1975 to be close to family and he has lived there ever since.

Leonard served on the Tribal Executive Board for one term, worked for the CHR and the Senior Citizens Program. He enjoyed attending pow wow celebrations, the Wild Horse Stampede, enjoyed boxing and watching basketball, spending time with his many grandchildren and visiting his many friends and relatives. Leonard had a beautiful voice and he sang at many funerals and was a Sunday School bus driver. He knew the Lord Jesus God our Father.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Leonard "Julio" Jr.; brothers, Nathan, Johnny, Joe, Kermit, Edward; sisters, Norma and Melda; and a granddaughter, Constance Faye Bear.

Survivors include four sons, Edward Bear of Williston, N.D., Everett John Bear of Poplar, Daniel Bear of Wolf Point and Maynard Bull of South Dakota; three daughters, Bernadine Bear, Debra Bear and Tanya Frederick, all of Poplar; special friend, Lavina Day of Oklahoma; a brother, Max Bear of Wolf Point; sisters, Iva Deane of New Town, N.D., Beatrice Welch and Ruth Brock, both of Wolf Point, Margaret Bear of Great Falls, and Almeda Bear of Minnesota; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A wake will be held at the Poplar Cultural Center Friday evening. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Poplar Cultural Center with Pastor Ray White Tail Feather, Pastor Ted Holmquist and Rev. Enright Bighorn, all of Poplar, officiating. Interment will be in the Chelsea cemetery, Poplar. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Lou Welch
BOUNTIFUL, Utah - Betty Lou Welch, 71, formerly of Poplar, Mont., died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, of natural causes.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Clayton Memorial Chapel in Poplar. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the chapel with interment in the Poplar City cemetery.

Steven James White Sr.
BALLANTINE - Steven James White, 33, of Ballantine, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, of injuries received in a vehicle accident near Ballantine.
Steven was born Oct. 6, 1964, in Sheridan, Wyo., the son of Arthur and Neoma (Parker) White Jr. He was raised in Lockwood until the age of 6 when his family moved to the Huntley Project. He attended Huntley Project Schools and Billings Vo-Tech, studying auto mechanics.

He married Deana Sherrodd, Jan. 27, 1987, in Sheridan, Wyo. He worked at Wilson Dunham Station for a year following school and then he and his wife moved to New Hampshire where they lived three years. The returned to Ballantine in February of 1990 and began working for Homestead Hyundai-Subaru.

Steven loved to fish, watch football with his family, and play with his children, especially football with his son. He was a wonderful father and husband.

Survivors include his wife, Deana of Ballantine; his son, Steven White Jr., his three daughters, Tracilyn White, Breanna White and Amanda White, all of the family home; his mother, Neoma White of Ballantine; two brothers, Arthur (Kathy) White III, Walter White, both of Portland, Ore.; and two sisters, Melody (Curtis) Fitch of Lockwood and Kathy (Todd) Wilson of Worden; numerous nieces and nephews, and four aunts, Evelyn Rudolf of Billings, Marilyn Allen of Reno, Nev., Shirley Soens of Ballantine and Audrey Parker of Billings; and his father and mother-in-law, Larry and Judy Sherrodd of Worden.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Bethlehem Congregational Church in Worden. Interment will be in the Pleasantview cemetery in Ballantine. Smith Downtown Chapel in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be sent in memory of Steven to a trust fund for his children at the Stockman Bank, P.O. Box 249, Worden, Mont. 59088.

Josephine M. Tremblay
MALTA - Josephine M. Tremblay, 85, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook of natural causes.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Malta. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the church with interment in the Malta cemetery. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge.

Floyd Sharp
Floyd Sharp, 69, of Billings, died late Tuesday evening, Sept. 15, 1998, after a long illness. He was born in Guilford, Mo., on April 22, 1929, to Floyd K. and Rosa Virginia Cinderella Weathermon Sharp. He married Alice Fannon on Oct. 31, 1947. To this union were born four daughters: Sheryl, Kathi, Cindy and Juanita. He married Virginia Jensen on Feb. 22, 1969.
He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and strived to apply Bible principles in his life and relationship with others. He was an elder in the Rimrock Congregation. He dearly loved his children including his stepchildren: David, Steven, Lorinda, and Holly. Most of all he loved his grandchildren of whom he had 23 and four great-grandchildren.

Survivors also include one brother, Dale Sharp of Ravenwood, Mo., and one sister, Rosetta Dooley of Kissee Mills, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at the Kingdom Hall at 405 36th St. W., Billings.
