SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Lola M. Wright, 66, died Friday, Sept. 11, in Westview Health Care Center.
Visitation is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Ferries Funeral Home.

Penny Pauline Auers
COLUMBUS - At the age of 45, Penny Auers of Columbus lost a courageous 5-year battle with ovarian cancer. She died on Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at her home on the Countryman Creek Ranch following a lengthy illness. The daughter of Leonard and Maudine (Roberts) Lauseng, Penny was born Feb. 15, 1953, in Mora, Minn. In 1971, she graduated from Pine City High School.
Penny was joined in marriage to Lawrence R. Auers on June 12, 1971, in Pine City. When they were first married , Penny and Larry lived in Mankato, Minn. They later moved to Wisconsin, then back to Grasston, Minn., and in 1987 to Billings. This past year, they lived at Countryman Creek Ranch in Columbus.
Penny worked as a nurse's aide, a waitress and secretary. She most recently worked as a payroll clerk for Cenex Petroleum in Billings. She was a member of the Heights Baptist Church in Billings, and was an AWANA leader. Penny also worked with the women's ministries and taught Sunday School at other churches that she attended.
Camping and the outdoors were a love of Penny's, but she mostly loved spending time in the surroundings of her home in Columbus. She was truly a devoted mother and wife, giving greatly of her time and self to her family. Penny always had a strong will and positive outlook on life, always focusing on what she could do ... not what she couldn't.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Larry; two sons, Joel of Buhl, Idaho, and Ryan of USS Bridge, Bremerton, Wash.; one daughter, Tracie Hunt and her husband, Jeremy of Billings; her mother, Maudine Stamp of Custer, S.D.; four brothers, Leroy Lauseng of San Diego, Calif., William Lauseng of Zion, Ill., Wendell Lauseng of Ceylon, Minn., Cameron Lauseng of Westland, Mich.; two sisters, Wanda Gunderson of Almelund, Minn., Rosalie Blazek of Rush City, Minn. Penny was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Lauseng.
A memorial service was held at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings on Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Heights Baptist Church, 383 Alkali Creek Road, Billings, 59105 or to Big Sky Hospice, PO Box 35033, Billings, 59107.

Ruth L. Brugger
Ruth L. Brugger, 87, formerly of Joliet, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Western Manor Health Care Center in Billings.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services are pending. Smith Funeral Chapel of Laurel was in charge of arrangements.

James M. Christiansen
FAIRVIEW - James M. "Jimmie" Christiansen, 76, of rural Fairview, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairview. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Clark
LEWISTOWN - Lillian Clark, 83, former longtime resident of Grass Range, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at the Central Montana Medical Center.
Funeral services for Lillian Clark will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the Creel Funeral Chapel in Lewistown. Interment will be in the Grass Range cemetery.

Jared Jene Hanson
POWELL, Wyo. - Jared Jene Hanson, age 18, died Thursday night, Sept. 10, the result of drowning. He was born Sept. 22, 1979, in Rock Springs, the son of James and Jacque Nordwall and later adopted by his loving, caring and devoted stepfather Michael Hanson.
Jared moved with his mother and brother, Justin, to Powell in 1981. He attended grade school, middle school and high school in Powell, graduating with the class of 1998. He was currently attending his freshman year of college at Northwest College in Powell.
Jared became involved in as many sports as he was able to manage as young as he was allowed. He filled his time with T-ball and USS swimming at age 6 and became involved with flag-football at age 9. He continued these sports throughout his high school years. His favorite sports were baseball and swimming/diving, at which he excelled at both. Baseball was Jared's summer passion. Each year Jared was either selected to participate on the All-Star Team during his Babe Ruth years or assisted his team in their goal to take state.
At the end of summer all Jared's ambitions turned to the pool. During his senior year, Jared took home the State Championship title in Diving. He was also selected to the Wyoming Coaches Association All State Boys Swimming Team for his 1 meter diving. His coaches selected him to receive the Coaches Award for swimming/diving and the award for outstanding diver. Jared also enjoyed snow skiing, snow boarding, water skiing, and recently had become involved in caving. Basically, Jared enjoyed anything that took skill, dedication, and practice. To say the least he was an adrenaline junkie who enjoyed all the challenges of life.
Survivors include his father and mother, Michael and Jacque; one brother and girlfriend, Justin and Summer Allen; his girlfriend, Kodi Coleman; grandparents Ivan and Lois Wolfe of Powell, Egon and Shirley Hanson of Aurelia, Iowa, and Joe and Phylis Nordwall of Rock Springs, Wyo.; natural father, James Nordwall; great-grandmother, Violet Edington of Riverton, Wyo.; many uncles, aunts, and cousins; and hundreds of friends.
A remembrance of Jared will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Powell High School Auditorium.
For those who wish to make memorial contributions, the family has selected the Park County Search and Rescue.
Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home of Powell is in charge of arrangements.

Jurgen Matthew Hatcher
February 15, 1970, the world became a little brighter with the birth of Jurgen Hatcher. Jurgen met life's struggles head on from the first and never wavered to continue.
Jurgen was one to be admired for his strength and willingness to give aid to others to any extent.
He touched the hearts of everyone whose paths he crossed. His heart was bigger than most and the warmth and happiness that came from within enveloped those he felt were special and everyone was.
Jurgen's fight in this life came to a close Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, from complications due to a car accident. Before he left he made the lives of his remaining family better by giving them many good memories of his having been here.
Jurgen's touched family consists of his mother Ione Lenz and husband Dick of Sheridan; father Elbert Hatcher and wife Carla of Shelby; brother Doran Hatcher and wife Tana of Billings; his grandmothers, Ruby Suter of Havre and Velma (Jurgen) Wigen of Shelby; uncles Dennis Hill and wife Joyce of California, Loran Hill and wife Rose of Shelby, Warren Hill and wife Debbie of Chester, Larry Thompson and wife Bev of Washington; aunt Jane Stuart and husband Sam of Havre; numerous cousins, and a very special friend Michelle Croy.
We all would like to thank him for his time with us.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. There will be private family interment. Memorials may be made to Dialysis Unit, Deaconess Medical Center, 2800 10th Ave. North, Billings, Mont. 59101.

Betty D. McConahay
LOVELL, Wyo. - Betty D. McConahay, 69, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell after a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the Cowley LDS Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell, and one hour before the services at the church in Cowley. Interment will be in the Cowley cemetery.

Ruth W. Winters
POWELL, Wyo. - Ruth W. Winters, 75, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in the Powell Nursing Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home in Powell. Interment will follow services in Crown Hill cemetery.

Elma May Yetter
Elma May Yetter, 85, of Billings, passed into the arms of her Lord, with her family at her side Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at the St. Vincent Hospital.
She was born Sept. 3, 1913, in Forsyth, the daughter of Thomas J. and Eula May (Cantrell) Hume. At the age of 5, her family moved to Billings and she attended several local schools.
She married Harold H. Yetter, Feb. 15, 1933, in Billings and they have enjoyed 65 years of marriage. They were the first couple to be married in the Wesleyan Church. Elma enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking and canning and had a special love for all children. They brought a lot of joy to her heart and a big smile to her face.
She was a life member of the Tree of Life Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; two daughters, Dorothy Prindle and husband, Ron and Evelyn Zent and husband, Clarence, all of Billings; her son, Harold Ed Yetter and his wife, Frances of Norfolk, Va.; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; her brother, George Skaufle of Ben Wheeler, Texas; and her sister, Juanita Gramley of Billings.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the Smith West Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to the Tree of Life Wesleyan Fellowship, 3608 Custer Ave., Billings or the charity of one's choice.

Faith Covell Anderson
LEWISTOWN - Faith Covell Anderson, 91, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the Lewistown City cemetery. Creel Funeral Home is in charge.

Donald Albert Berg
MARTINSDALE - Donald Albert Berg, 66, a lifetime rancher, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 11, at his home. He suffered from deteriora-tion of the brain and aphasia for the past two years.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Ringhand); two daughters, Donna Hagberg and Beth Ann Keating, both of Harlowton; a son, Russell Berg of Martinsdale; six grandchildren and a brother, Byron.
Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Martinsdale, on Monday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Veterans Memorial Wall (Harlowton), Montana Stockgrowers Assiciation, Trinity Lutheran Church or Martinsdale Community Center.

Ethel W. Buettner
Mrs. Ethel W. Buettner, 82 of Billings, died on Sept. 11, 1998, at St. John's Lutheran Home where she had been a happy resident since 1990.
Mrs. Buettner was born in Broken Bow, Neb., on Dec. 10, 1915. She was the daughter of Raymond N. and Eva M. Gates. She married Carl H. Buettner (who preceded her in death) on Nov. 7, 1936, and they lived in Martin, S.D.
Survivors include daughters, Wanda Harrison and husband Ernest of Billings, and Carol Pritchard and husband Brian of Hazelton, British Columbia; sons, Warren Buettner and wife, Rene of Denver and Carl Buettner Jr. and wife, Teresa of Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother, Robert Gates and wife, Bonnie of Benson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and all of the wonderful staff at St. John's Lutheran Home.
Mrs. Buettner and her husband and business partner moved to Red Lodge from Sturgis, S.D., in 1954. The family was in the motel and restaurant business in Red Lodge for many years.
In addition to helping manage the family business, Mrs. Buettner served as chairman of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Red Lodge, chairman of the Rebekah Lodge, cofounder of the Western Museum of Red Lodge and member of the board of directors of a national tourism association. In addition to being a very proud, devoted parent, she maintained a lifelong interest in sewing and needle crafts.
Mrs. Buettner was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Billings since 1973. Small Lutheran churches in Red Lodge, Sturgis and Martin, S.D., have all benefited from her cooking and many active contributions.
She will be remembered by many friends and relatives in several communities and states.
A Service will be held at the chapel at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at 1 p.m. She will be cremated and join Carl at Mountview cemetery
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Buettner requests memorials be offered to either St. Johns Lutheran Home or Big Sky Hospice.

Billy Arthur Fisher
Billy Arthur Fisher, age 87, passed away Sept. 11, 1998.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services.

Donald D. Gruel
HELENA - Donald D. Gruel, age 65, died of cancer, at his home in the Helena Valley on Sept. 9, 1998.
Don was born in Belfry on July 13, 1933, to Fred A. and Margaret (Shupak) Gruel, and graduated from Belfry High School in 1951. He graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman with a B.S. in civil engineering in 1956. Upon receiving his degree, he joined the Montana Highway Department, remaining there until his retirement in 1990. He spent 35 years serving the State of Montana, retiring as administrator of maintenance.
He worked the past few years for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) investigating and assessing damage caused by disasters. He spent time working in North and South Dakota, Colorado, California, Montana, and more recently in Kentucky.
Don liked fishing, hunting, horse racing, and was a bowler up until the time of his death. He coached "C" league baseball for many years in Helena. He owned both thoroughbreds and quarter horses, racing the Montana circuit. He was a lifetime member of the BPOE, serving as secretary for two years.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Martha (Bobby) of the family home; his daughter, Jennifer Thompson and husband, Jamie of Gore, Okla.; his sons, Jesse of Helena, Leonard (Sam) Sewell of Helena, Richard Sewell and wife, Lauree of Walker, La. He is survived by four grandchildren, Donnie and Alex Thompson and Josh and Lacy Sewell. He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Curfman and husband, Lloyd of Gilford and Norma Thomas of Billings; and nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be at the Liberty Baptist Church under the direction of Hagler-Anderson Mortuary at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998. Pastor Rick DeMato will officiate. Burial will be at Forestvale cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Helena Junior Bowling Assn., c/o Terry Harris, Box 522, Helena, MT 59624; or an organization of the donor's choice.
