Caroline Sophia Jorgensen, the first-born child of Niels and Ella Jorgensen, entered this world Dec. 1, 1903, at Grundy County, Iowa, weighing in at around 3 pounds. She always had as large a garden as she could manage, enjoying both produce for the table and lots of flowers. A superb cook, everything was delicious, but never made from a written recipe. A skilled seamstress, she loved to crochet, make quilts and afghans, and always had a work of some kind in progress. She was among the earliest group of "quilting ladies" at Plentywood Lutheran Church, and stayed active there as long as her health permitted.
