Audrey J. Olson

Audrey Jean (Langton) Olson, 78, of Bozeman died at Mountain View Care Center Dec. 3, 2001, from complications due to diabetes. She was born July 2, 1923, in Niche, N.D., to Wilbert and Mary Langton. At the age of 16, she moved with her family to Williams, Minn.

She married Howard Olson July 3, 1942, and the couple had five children.

She moved to Bozeman with her family in 1959 and worked in several restaurants in the area.

After divorcing, she moved back to Warroad, Minn., in 1972 where she worked for 15 years, assembling windows at Marvin Windows.

In 1987, after being diagnosed with diabetes, she moved back to Bozeman, living in Darlinton Manor, to be closer to two of her daughters.

Audrey was a loving and hard-working woman who always believed that if something seemed impossible, you had to work at it a little harder. The most important things to her in life were family, and friends dating back to her school years that she continually kept in contact with through letters.

She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, embroidering, and making quilts, from which her children and grandchildren all benefited.

Her 16-year battle with diabetes and its ravages claimed part of her body but never her spirit. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is an inspiration to all she left behind.

She is survived by her five children: Patricia Garner of Phoenix, Ariz.; Wilbert (Karen) Olson of West Fargo, N.D.; Phyllis Gates of Bozeman; John (Mary) Olson of Sturgis, S.D.; Mary (Barry) Hedella of Bozeman. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Annie (Ralph) Olson of Orr, Minn.; Velma Lund of Roosevelt, Minn.; Ronnie (Francis) Langton and Leslie (Pat) Langton of International Falls, Minn.; Garry (Ione) Langton of Salol, Minn.; and an aunt, Martha (Copeland) Willson.

Audrey is also survived by her 11 grandchildren: Michelle Ward, Delores (John) Lynch, Tracy (Dan) Guttenberg, Wayne and Terry Olson, Deanne Gates, Robert and John Hadella, Spencer, Eddie and Brandy Olson. Her great-grandchildren are Michael and Drew Erickson, Andrew and Faith Guttenberg, Alex Jo and Jordan Lynch, Jonathan and Kayla Olson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.
