Mona Rae Dunham
DOUGLAS, Wyo. - Funeral services for Mona Rae Dunham, 70, will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas with the Rev. Marion Canterbury of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be at Douglas Park cemetery. Mrs. Dunham died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at the Dunham mountain cabin near Esterbrook.
Mona was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Douglas, the daughter of J. Frank and Jessie (McCartney) Batton Sr. She was reared and educated in Douglas, graduating from Douglas High School in 1947. She was married to Merle Dunham on March 10, 1953, in Cheyenne. They lived on a ranch in the Buffalo area working for the Moores. In 1963 they moved to Glenrock where they owned and operated the Tabor Hotel. They moved to Douglas where they managed the Lone Tree Village Trailer Park. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, bowling, her family, and the mountain cabin.

Mona is survived by her husband, Merle of Douglas; three children, Dixie Miller of Worden, Mont., Peyton Lee Dunham of Eagle River, Alaska, and Nancy Johnson of Glenrock; one sister, Elva Wilson of Medford, Ore.; one brother, Frank Batton of Douglas; five grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Memorials to the Converse County Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 49, Douglas, Wyo. 82633 would be appreciated by the family.

Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Miranda Fenner
LAUREL - Miranda Fenner's life was taken Nov. 15, 1998. Miranda Collen Fenner was born Dec. 26, 1979, to Mike and Sherry Fenner. She has a younger brother, Tim.
Miranda moved with her family to Laurel in 1990. She graduated from Laurel High School in May of 1998. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, animals, drawing and shopping.

Her parents and brother, as well as her grandparents, Warren and Colleen Schroeder of Laurel; a great-grandma, Maude Schroeder of Fargo, N.D.; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will miss her love and laughter in their lives.

Services will be Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at Laurel United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Laurel High School Memorial Fund, 203 E. 8th St., Laurel, MT 59044 in memory of Miranda. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Anna M. Price
HAMILTON - Anna M. Price, age 89, of Hamilton, died Monday, Nov. 16, in Missoula at the Community Medical Center Rehab.
Born on Sept. 30, 1909, in LaMoure, N.D., the daughter of the late Albert and Julia Jacobson Halverson.

Anna was a graduate of Billings High School and A.W. Johnston School of Business in Billings.

She worked as a bookkeeper at the Laurel Refinery before her marriage to Oren D. Price in Laurel. She later worked in the Laurel office of the Montana Power Co. for 29 years and retired in 1974. Then in 1987, she moved to Hamilton where she has resided since.

Surviving include: her children, Patricia and Jerry Sheldon of Post Falls, Idaho, Orene and Edward LaFortune of Westminster, Mass., and Kenneth and Sandra Price of Corvallis; sisters, Amy Nielsen of Sacramento, Calif., and Edna Reiner of Peoria, Ill; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband in May 1975, three sisters and three brothers.

Family graveside services will take place at the Laurel cemetery in Laurel. Family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

Marilyn Z. Odegard
Marilyn Q. Odegard passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, after a courageous battle with diabetes and end stage renal disease.
The sixth of seven daughters, Marilyn Orpha Luella Qualley was born on Feb. 11, 1930, in Kindred, N.D., to Herman and Alma Qualley.

Raised on the family homestead, she graduated from Leonard High School in 1947. She was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church near Kindred, where she sang solos to her Father's delight.

She graduated from Moorhead (Minn.) State University and began her teaching career in one-room schoolhouses near Hillsboro and Wild Rice, N.D.

On May 27, 1949, she married Edwin Oscar Odegard. They had one daughter.

Marilyn and her husband moved to Billings in 1957, where Marilyn continued to teach first grade education at Bench, Miles Ave., Bitterroot, and Sandstone Elementary Schools.

During her 40 years in teaching, she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority, a member of the National Education Association, the Montana Teachers Association and the Billings Education Association.

Marilyn, along with her husband, was one of the charter members of Atonement Lutheran Church, in Billings. And, until the time of her death, a faithful member of the congregation.

"Auntie Molly" as she was known to her family was a "very special Auntie" who always took the time to talk and teach the nieces and nephews (great and great-great) of the family. She loved to read, bake, crochet and had a special talent for gardening. "She could make a stick grow roots and bear fruit."

She is survived by her husband, Edwin and daughter, Paula Odegard Stuyvesant of New York; her sisters, Ann Aanstad of Billings, Helma Mitchell of Fargo, N.D., Ruth Odegard, Fargo, Jean (John) Geyer, Walnut Creek, Calif.; nephews, Robert Odegard and family, Sal Aanstad Jr. and family and Jim Mitchell and family, and nieces, Jan Geyer de Montcriffe and family and Gloria Miller and family. And the hundreds of first graders that passed through her classroom over the years.

Psalm 34, v.4: "I sought the Lord and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears." Your faith carried you through your battle, Mom. Dad and I were blessed to have you here. You will be missed.

Visitations will begin at noon on Thursday. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church. Smith Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Christikon Living Center, 1108 24th St. W., Billings, MT 59102.

William F. 'Fred' Brew
William F. "Fred" Brew, 77, of Billings passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 17, 1998, at the Deaconess Medical Center following a long illness.
He was born June 24, 1921, in Butte, the son of Frederick Henry and Mary Anne (Kelly) Brew. He was raised in Butte and graduated from Butte High School in 1939. He then attended Butte Business College. On June 14, 1944, he married Helen Lomas in Butte. Fred worked for Continental Oil in Butte from 1941 until 1964.

He moved to Billings in 1964 and worked for Volkswagen Inc. from 1964 to 1968. He attended Eastern Montana College and in 1968 became a partner in Star Service Plumbing and Heating.

He enjoyed baseball, football, bridge and golf. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Butte and Billings and was a member of the North American Manx Society.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Billings; two sons and their wives, William F. Brew Jr. and wife, Cora of Billings and Thomas James Brew and wife, Judy of Olney, Md.; three grandsons, William F. Brew III and Michael Vance Brew of Billings, and James Allen Brew and wife, Patricia and step-granddaughter, Terry Lynn Rodgers, all of Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. W. Family interment will be at the MT Moriah cemetery in Butte. Memorials may be made to the Shrine Children's Hospital, c/o Al Bedoo Shrine, P.O. Box 20673, Billings, MT 59104, in lieu of flowers.

Gertrude 'Bert' Sweten
MILES CITY - Bert Sweten passed away on Oct. 13, 1998.
Bert was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Roundup, to Carl and Gertrude Carlson. She graduated from Klein High School. In 1968, she settled in Miles City after living in Roundup, Harlowton and Ryegate.

After retiring from the V.A. Hospital in 1997, Bert spent her time traveling and visiting with family and friends. She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched.

Bert was preceded in death by her sister, Carleen Egge and brother, Jack Carlson.

Bert is survived by eight siblings: Vic Carlson, Vi Paulus, Julie Enman, Myra Solberg, Cora Campbell, Albert Carlson, Ann Brenchley and Paul Carlson; five children: Gary, Kerry, Steve, Terri, Stuart; 13 grandchildren: K.C., Joshua, Heather, Mariah, Kerry, Cody, Dinae, Samantha, Timothy, Brian, Jeffrey, Marcus, Katherine; two great-grandchildren, Steven and Madison.

Memorial services in Roundup are at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Wier Funeral Chapel, and in Miles City on Friday, Oct. 16.

Robert L. Chapple
LAUREL - Robert L. Chapple, 46, of Laurel, passed away Oct. 12, 1998, after a long illness. He was born Jan. 30, 1952, in Lovell, Wyo., the son of Richard and Dorothy Geary Chapple. He attended Holy Rosary School and graduated from Billings Central High in 1969. He married Karen Ellingson in 1975. Bob was "Pa" to two sons, Cody Roy Chapple and Eric Chapple. He worked as a food broker and one of the greatest loves of his life was music. He valued self expression and lived his life in that manner. Bob rarely said goodbye, a smile and a peace sign was his way.
Bobby is loved and will be remembered by his parents, two sons, all of Laurel; brothers, Richard (Alice) of Hardin, Patrick (Kim) of Fredricksburg, Md., Phil (Cindy) of Laurel; sisters, Kathy Chappel of Laurel and Colleen (Tim) Muerer of Billings; many nieces and nephews, friends, and his close friend, Sherry and her son, Halen of Laurel. Heavenly Father, cradle him in your loving arms for us. Bob you will be forever in our hearts.

Cremation has taken place at Cremation or Funeral Gallery. Memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to Cody and Eric at 107 Durland Ave., Laurel, MT 59044.

Doris Bentz Dymond
POWELL, Wyo. - Funeral services for Doris Bentz Dymond, age 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Dymond died Oct. 12 at her home at the Rocky Mountain Manor in Powell. Visitation will be held at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home, Friday evening, Oct. 16, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Floyd P. Bentz and Russell Dymond; sons, Floyd Robert Bentz and Ronald Dean Bentz; grandson, Bruce Honstain; and great-grandson, Josh Honstain. She is survived by sons, Norman Bentz of Powell and Donald Bentz of Casper, and numerous grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Bruce and Josh Honstain Scholarship Fund in Powell. Interment will be at Crown Hill cemetery in Powell.

Cloyde Priestley
Cloyde Priestley, 80, was a longtime resident of Billings as a Master plumber. He died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at Valley Health Care Center. He was born Nov. 7, 1917, in Bridger to Cloyde A. and Verga L. Neafus Priestley. He married Margaret R. Straw in Billings.
Cloyde contracted Polio in his early '20s and was disabled for most of his life. He was highly creative and enjoyed woodworking, carving and leatherwork. An avid fisherman, he loved boating on Canyon Ferry and Hebgen Lake. He loved the outdoors and camping. In recent years, he was confined to his home and enjoyed computer programs, e-mail, and playing cards. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. As a Master plumber, he worked for Drier Plumbing and Heating, Swainson Plumbing and Boise Cascade.

He is survived by his sister, Alice Drier and his three children, Douglas of Springfield, Vt., Vicky Priestley of Spokane, Wash., and Linda L. Robinson of Billings.

Cremation has taken place and burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made in his name to: The Shrine Hospital or the Billings Education Scholarship Fund.

Cleo McCoy
MEDICINE LAKE - Cleo McCoy, 72, of Medicine Lake, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at the Roosevelt Memorial Hospital in Culbertson.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Plentywood. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the church with interment in Plentywood Memorial cemetery.

Karl W. Stein
Karl W. Stein, 53, died Monday, Oct. 12, in his home of an aortic aneurysm. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 11, 1945. He was a successful businessman in the Billings area for 24 years, and earned the respect of many members of this community.
Karl had great respect and love for the outdoors and enjoyed connecting with nature whenever possible.

He lovingly raised two daughters, Carla and Heather Stein, and a granddaughter, Chelsey, whom he cared for very much along with his intended bride, Jean Fike.

He is survived by a brother, Charles Stein of Nevada, and two sisters, Kris Meyers of Cleveland and Lynn Justice of North Carolina.

"Karl, you were a good father, friend and companion. We will all miss you dearly. May you rest in God's peace and love forever."

Memorial services will be held at Smith's Downtown Chapel, 120 N. 26th, Friday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m.
