Glen L. Bond, born in Powell, Wyo., to L'Rhea and Faye Bond, passed away Oct. 9, 1998. He is survived by one daughter, Robin of California and three brothers, Brad of Billings, Tom of Washington and Marshall of Alaska.

SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Eva R. Nicholson, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at her home.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Margaret Schwartz
WOLF POINT - Margaret Schwartz, 89, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at the Faith Lutheran Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Zion Lutheran Church with interment in the Dawson County cemetery, both in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is in charge.

Justin Zackery Hare
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Justin Zackery Hare passed away from injuries of an automobile accident, Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at the age of 4.
Justin was born March 13, 1994, at Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Katja Ann Hare and Paul Trout.

Survivors include Justin's mother, Katja Ann Hare of Sheridan; his father, Paul Trout; his maternal grandparents, J.C. and Heidi Hare of Denver.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Ronald B. Kuzin officiating. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Marie Enlow
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Anna Marie Enlow, 76, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Kane Funeral Home.

Glenn E. Nielson
CODY, Wyo. - Glenn E. Nielson, 95, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Cody Stake Center with interment in Riverside cemetery. Ballard Funeral Home is in charge.

Frank Julian Ash
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Frank Julian Ash, 75, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at Sheridan Manor.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Dayton Community Church. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Nina Forrester
Nina Forrester was born on the family farm June 27, 1911, in Sabetha, Kan. Her parents were Ira and Rose Bohn. Nina had three brothers and one sister.
She graduated from Sabetha, Kan., high school in May of 1927. She moved to Jardine where she met Olin Forrester. They married on Aug. 5, 1939. Nina and Olin had six children: Joyce (Jim) Mole, Kent (Cheryl) Forrester, Gary (Jeanne) Forrester, Janet (Dick) Tippets, Lyle Forrester, and Bohnie Forrester. Olin preceded Nina in death, April 12, 1970.

Nina is survived by her six children, 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her sister, Sylvia Jolly.

Her passions in life were her family, gardening and needle-work. She was a founding member of the Lockwood Evangelical Church, where she remained a member until her death.

Nina passed away at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness. She will always be remembered for the kindness she showed everyone who knew her.

Services will be held at the Lockwood Evangelical Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday with Burial in the Rockvale cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lockwood Evangelical Church building fund.

Arvanda 'Jill' Stewart
RIVERTON, Wyo. - Arvanda "Jill" Stewart, 19, formerly of Busby, Mont., died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
A wake service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lame Deer, Mont. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at the church in Lame Deer with interment in the Busby cemetery. Rausch Funeral Home of Lame Deer is in charge.

Orval S. Ellison
McLEOD/LIVINGSTON - Orval S. Ellison, 77, longtime Park and Sweet Grass County rancher and retired state legislator, died suddenly Sunday evening, Oct. 18, 1998, at Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22; from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m. Friday. Oct. 23; and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 N. 3rd St., Livingston. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Holbrook United Methodist Church, corner of 5th and Lewis Streets in Livingston, with the Rev. Carol Simms of Lewistown officiating. Graveside committal and burial will follow in Park View Gardens cemetery.

Orval was born July 6, 1921, in Forsyth, the son of Dillon and Nancy Ellison. He received his early education in Colstrip, near the family ranch, and graduated from high school in Burlington, Wyo., as the valedictorian of his class. While in high school, Orval excelled in sports and was captain of the basketball team.

In 1941, the family moved to the Paradise Valley, south of Livingston. He entered the U.S. Army in July of 1942 and served with the 15th Army Air Corps in Africa and Italy during WWII. On Oct. 12, 1947, he married Emma M. Elges in Livingston. The couple continued to reside and ranch in the Paradise Valley, on the Yellowstone River near Pray. In 1969, they moved to a ranch on the West Boulder River, near McLeod, and have lived and ranched there since.

Orval and his wife have always been very active in civic activities and pursued a lifelong interest in politics. He has served as trustee on the Rosedale School board and had been chairman and director on the board of the Park Branch Canal. Proud of his military service, he was also a member of Sweet Grass Post #19 of the American Legion and had served as commander of District #7.

In order to follow his interests in politics in Montana, Orval ran for state legislature in 1974. He was elected to a seat in the Montana House of Representatives, serving rural Park County and Sweet Grass County. Orval served for nine consecutive terms, or a total of 18 years. In 1981 he was chairman of the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Committee. During his final term in 1991, he earned the title of Dean of the Republican Party as the legislative member of that party with the most seniority.

Orval was never intimidated by controversy and always kept his sense of humor. His colleagues dubbed him "the Will Rogers" of the Montana House. Following his retirement from the House, he continued to follow state and local politics closely. More recently, he has served on the West Boulder Planning Commission. Orval has always been a hardworking civil servant and has made his commitment to his constituency his primary concern in politics.

Orval avidly pursued his musical interests, especially as an accomplished banjo player, and was a member of the Montana Fiddlers Association. He also played the mandolin, guitar and drums. When he was a teenager, he and his brothers formed an orchestra and played for local dances and social functions in eastern Montana. Orval was a voracious reader, enjoyed woodworking and many outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Emma M. Ellison of McLeod; his daughter, Kathi Ellison of Livingston; two brothers, Derald Ellison of Seattle, Wash., and Evan Ellison of Livingston. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harley and Melvin Ellison.

Memorials in Orval's memory may be directed to Livingston-Park County Public Library, 228 W. Callender St., Livingston, MT 59047; Livingston Ambulance Service, 414 E. Callender St., Livingston, MT 59047; or to the Montana State Capitol Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 200101, Helena, MT 59620-0101.

Walter E. 'Curly' Humiston
BRIDGER - Walter E. "Curly" Humiston, 88, of Casper, Wyo., formerly of Bridger, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper.
Walter was born March 29, 1910, at Pony, to George and Rowena Humiston. He grew up in the Edgar area where he attended school. He married Mabel Haworth on July 13, 1928.

Curly traveled throughout the United States and South America working as a pipefitter and welder.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, one son, George, and three brothers. Survivors include LeRoy and Helen Humiston of Casper, Bill and Joan Humiston of Cooke City, Ann Wilm of Sheridan, Wyo.; one sister, Suzie (David) Vanover of Billings; a sister-in-law, Mabel Haworth of Billings; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, in the Rockvale cemetery.

Martha Helen Dust
LODGE GRASS - Martha Helen Dust, 77, of Lodge Grass, went to be with the Lord, Nov. 24, 1998, while at the St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
She was born March 7, 1921, in Lodge Grass, a daughter of William and Verlie Bright Wings Dust. Her formative years were in Wyola, where she attended the Wyola Country School. She later attended the St. Ann's Catholic School near Lodge Grass and completed her education at the Chemawa Indian School in Oregon.

Awaasuua Ashkawuan Balaxiah, "Sings in the House" was an accomplished Indian Gospel singer, who once sang for a Sheridan radio station. She was a charter member and board member of the Lodge Grass Miracle Church and was instrumental in the development of the Indian Gospel movement on the Crow Indian Reservation. "She was an inspiration to many young women in the gospel."

Martha attended the Billings Adult Education Program in 1989 and graduated from the Billings Vo-tech as a certified cook in 1970. She was known for her cooking abilities and her sewing talents.

She was a member of the Piegan Clan, a child of the Big Lodge Clan and a member of the Lodge Grass Senior Citizens.

Martha followed a Crow Tradition and was honored to give Amanda Leider and Breann Bright Wings their Crow Indian names. She raised many children on the Reservation as her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clive Dust Sr.; a sister, Leona Morning; and a grandson, Quannah Bird.

Survivors include three daughters, Verlie Aldeen Dust and Veronica Vicki Dust of Lodge Grass and Justine Deputee of St. Xavier; four sons, Dean Bird and Dana (Valerie) Bird of Lodge Grass, John Dust and Isaac Dust of Billings; four brothers, Henry Bright Wings Sr., William Gros Ventre and Archie Bear Ground of Lodge Grass and Louis Good Luck Sr. of Pryor; three sisters, Edna Dust and Rita Don't Mix of Lodge Grass and Amy Red Star of Pryor; an adopted brother, Victor Morning Sr. of Lodge Grass; one aunt, Julia Not Afraid of Lodge Grass; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who include her very special grandchildren, Willy, Ivy, Trevor and Latrell Bird, Veronica T., Robert and John Dust Jr., Jonathon and Deland Deputee. She is also survived by Victor, Bernard, Tonya, James Paul (JP), Lenora and Clive Dust Jr., Vienna Stewart, James Young, Wesley Stewart, Janet Stewart, Donald Stewart Jr. and Almenda Good Luck, all of whom she raised.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the Lodge Grass Baptist Mission. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Benjamin A. Dudley
ROUNDUP - Benjamin A. Dudley, 77, of Roundup, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the Odd Fellows Hall. Wier Funeral Home is in charge.

Valma L. Holy
Valma L. Holy, 85, of Billings, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998.
She was born Dec. 29, 1912, in Iowa. She came to Billings in the 1940s, then moved to Portland, Ore., for 16 years and then returned to Billings. Valma served in the WACS and received her discharge in 1945. She was employed as a telegraph operator for the Northern Pacific Railroad. She and Frank Holy married in Cody, Wyo., in 1965.

Survivors include her husband, Frank, and her brother, Marvin Haught.

Memorial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at 114 Florine, Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Augustine 'Gussie' Costa
CROW AGENCY - Augustine "Gussie" Costa, 74, of Crow Agency, died Monday evening, Oct. 19, 1998, in the Crow Agency IHS Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1924, in Pryor, a son of Arnold Costa and Mary Angela Bull Horse and the grandson of Chief Pretty Eagle.

Gussie was a member of the Greasy Mouth Clan, a Ties the Bundle Clan child, Crow Agency Four Square Church, Native American Church and the Tobacco Society.

He married Annie Singer on April 26, 1947, in Crow Agency and the couple made their home near Crow Agency. He farmed near Crow Agency, where he was an avid horseman and raised race horses.

Gussie was active in the Black Lodge District and observed the Crow traditional ways, often asked to be an announcer at various functions. He was a skilled designer and maker of feather fans and bussels, often making them for his grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed all games of chance.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne; two daughters, Agnes Singer and Claudia Dawes; a sister, Myrtle Blaine; and five brothers, Joseph Costa, Sam Bull Horse, Ted Bear Cloud, James Big Lake and George Bear Cloud.

Survivors include his wife, Annie of Crow Agency; seven sons, Larry and Conrad Costa of Crow Agency, Oliver Costa and William Rides the Horse of Pryor, Carlton Nomee and Clifford Singer Jr. of Lodge Grass, Harold Stone of Wyola; one daughter, LaVern Costa of Billings; an adopted son, Rick Horton of Hardin; an adopted daughter, Lori Ann Pretty Paint of Crow Agency; two sisters, Dorothy Hugs and Mary Agnes Shane; four brothers, Ed Little Light Jr., Ervin Sings Good, Joe Bear Cloud and Benedict Blaine; his nephew, Arnold Costa; four nieces, Jessica Plain Bull, Ann Couture, Josalyn and Andrea Costa; his Tobacco Society adopted son, Gale Three Irons; 53 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the Crow Agency Four Square Church with Rev. Kenneth Pretty on Top, officiating. Interment will follow in the Crow Agency cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Earl V. 'Bee' Biss
ASPEN, Colo. - Earl V. "Bee" Biss, 51, world-famous Crow Indian artist of Aspen, died suddenly Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, in Santa Fe, N.M.
"Spotted Horse, " i'ichiilisaxxish, was born Sept. 29, 1947, in Renton, Wash., a son of Earl Biss Sr. and Dorothy DuShane. During his formative years, he was raised by his grandparents, Frank and Margaret Stewart and his uncle, Isaac and Mary Agnes DuShane. He later returned to Washington, where he completed his education. Bee attended the Santa Fe Institute of Art and later studied art throughout the United States and Europe.

He was a well-known artist and painter of Indian art, with galleries in Red Lodge, Mont., New York City, Santa Fe, Aspen, and South America.

Bee married Loulou Goss in December of 1994 in Aspen and the couple made their home in Aspen.

He was a child of the Greasy Mouth Burnt Lip Clan and a member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Loulou of Colorado; three brothers, Howard Shane of Garryowen, Mont., Jessie Yellowrobe of Crow Agency, Mont., and Fred Glassman of Hardin, Mont.; five uncles, John Pretty on Top of Lodge Grass, Mont., Isaac DuShane, David, Donald and Reuben Stewart of Crow Agency; six aunts, Priscella Gardner of Crow Agency, Wilma Stands of Pryor, Mont., Beverely Pretty on Top of Benteen, Mont., Henrietta Pretty on Top, Winona Plenty Hoops and Bertha Bear Claw of Lodge Grass; numerous cousins and a host of friends throughout the United States.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the First Crow Indian Baptist Mission. Interment will follow in the Crow Agency cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
