Pete Ostermiller
Pete Ostermiller, 76, of Billings passed away at the Deaconess Medical Center, Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, following a long illness.
He was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Teton City, Idaho, the son of John B. and Mary (Kruger) Ostermiller. He attended school in Billings and Shepherd. He served in the U.S. Army overseas in the European Theater during WWII.

On Aug. 20, 1945, he married Esther Foos in Billings. They lived in Huntley and moved to Billings in 1952. Pete worked for the GTA Bean Division until retiring on June 30, 1983.

His hobbies were carpentry, fishing, hunting and he loved spending time at his cabin.

He was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Esther; his son, Larry and wife, Dianne of Powell, Wyo., and his daughter, Debbie and husband, Cal Michael of Billings; grandchildren, Cory Ostermiller, his wife, Darci, and daughter, Courtney; Cale Ostermiller and Corrine Ostermiller, all of Powell; granddaughter, Suzy Michael of Billings; four brothers, Duane, Henry and Fred, all of Billings, and Joe of Roundup; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and sisters, Mary Aldridge and Mollie Ernest.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pilgrim Congregational Church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials to the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th St., Billings; the American Lung Assn., 825 Helena Ave., Helena, MT 59601; or the American Heart Association, 2612 First Ave. N., Billings, MT.

Richard Roundstone
LAME DEER - Richard Roundstone died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, from injuries received in an automobile/pedestrian accident near Lame Deer.
Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Archie Roundstone residence in Lame Deer. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Boys & Girls Club in Lame Deer with interment in the Busby cemetery. Rausch Funeral Home is in charge.

Geraldine G. Christopherson
Geraldine G. Christopherson, 88, of Billings passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at the Western Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on March 9, 1910, at Pella, Iowa, the daughter of John and Kate Vande Noord.

Geraldine was raised and educated at Pella and graduated from Central College and earned her Master's degree from Drake University. Following graduation she held teaching positions at Hartwick, Lewis, Ankeny and Ames, Iowa. She retired from teaching in 1975.

She married Jerome R. Christopherson on June 1, 1940, at Des Moines, Iowa. In 1947 they moved to Ames where she resumed her teaching career. After retirement they continued to reside in Ames during the summer and spent the winter months in McAllen, Texas. They moved to Billings on March 19, 1993.

She was a member of the Collegiate Presbyterian Church of Ames, the BI Chapter of TTT Society, the Mary Greeley Auxiliary, the Iowa State Education Association, Phi Sigma Alpha and the Ames Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jerome, and a brother, Harris. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Plomitallo and her husband, Dr. Anthony Plomitallo of Stamford, Conn.; a son, Dennis N. Christopherson and his wife, Sheila of Billings; a sister, Mrs. Anna Mae Gosselink of Pella; a brother, Mr. George Vande Noord of Marietta, Ga.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be at the First Presbyterian Church at Stamford, with interment of the cremated remains at the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Gardens at Stamford at a later date.

Should friends desire, memorials maybe made to the Collegiate Presbyterian Church, Ames, Iowa.

Richard J. Laferriere
WORDEN - Richard Laferriere, 49, went to live with the Lord, Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, after a long courageous battle with cancer. His family was with him at their home near Worden, which is what he wanted.
Richard was born in Billings, Jan. 4, 1949, the son of Edward and Aune (Saarela) Laferriere. He was raised in Billings and Roberts. He graduated from West High in 1967. He served in the Army Airborne Unit for two years and returned to Billings where he married Darlene Fay Krieger on Sept. 9, 1972, in Worden. Rich was a meat cutter and had owned Project Meat Service for a while. He then had worked in the fire sprinkler installation industry until his retirement in 1995 due to an injury.

Rich was a member of Local 669, NRA, VFW in Worden and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Rich had a wonderful sense of humor up to the end. His abundance of love overflowed for his family, friends and everyone he met. He knew no strangers and lived life to the very fullest. Rich thrived when it came to the outdoors. He loved hunting, camping, boating and especially fishing. Nothing pleased him more than to see his family and friends enjoy eating the many delicacies he conjured up. He filled with pride as he often gloated about his children and their accomplishments. Richard lived life "opened up, full speed." He was a candle who burned brightly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Aune, his brother, Michael, and his nephew, Jeffrey.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; his children, Keri of the family home, Joey and her husband, Nate Pickett of Northglenn, Colo., and Clint of the family home; his godparents, Johnny and Hilda Krieger of Worden and his father, Edward Laferriere of Billings; brother, Gary Laferriere, wife, Margie and family of Billings; sister, Donna Reid and family of Lewisville, Texas; sister, Mary Shoff, husband, John and family of Billings, and sister, Janet Laferriere of Billings; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends.

"Dad, we love and miss you very much. We know you are in God's hands now and that he has many fishing adventures waiting for you. Until we meet again, we thank God for your guidance, zest of life and never-ending love."

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the Bethlehem Congregational Church in Worden. Cremation will follow services. Memorials to the Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35003, Billings, MT 59107 or the Cancer Treatment Center of Tulsa, 2408 E. 81st St. Suite 100, Tulsa, OK 74137-4210.

Albert Bjarko
SCOBEY - Albert Bjarko, 74, of Scobey, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the Scobey Lutheran Church with interment in the Scobey cemetery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary A. Schieffer
WIBAUX - Mary A. Schieffer, 67, of Wibaux, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at the Glendive Medical Center.
A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at St. Peter's Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at the church with Rite of Committal in the Wibaux cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home is in charge.

Francis Jonathan Little Nest
LANDER, Wyo. - Francis Jonathan Little Nest, 34, of Lander, formerly of the Lodge Grass area, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998.
He was born Oct. 23, 1964, in Crow Agency, a son of James Bear Below and Gladys Little Nest. He was raised by his adopted parents, Joseph and Mary Ann Little Nest. He received his education in Lodge Grass and at the St. Labre Indian School. He later worked on area ranches and construction projects.

Jonathan married Roberta Armajo and the couple resided in Wyoming.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta and their son, Shane Armajo of Wyoming; his mother, Gladys Bear Below; his adopted mother, Mary Ann Little Nest; a brother, Ben Bear Below and his adopted father, Newton Old Crow, all of Lodge Grass. He is also survived by four adopted sisters, Agelique Bear Below, Martha Blaine and Rhonda Anderson of Lodge Grass and Marcelline Pretty on Top of Crow Agency; five adopted brothers, Ray Ken Hill, Thomas Walks and Dennis Gonzales of Lodge Grass, Clinton Walks and Benito Brown of Crow Agency.

Funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lodge Grass Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mark Robin Jensen
CIRCLE - Mark Robin Jensen, 42, of Circle, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 16, 1998, at the McCone County MAF. He dearly loved his family and the Lord all of his life. Mark was born on Sept. 21, 1956, at Circle the son of Earl and Betty Robbins Jensen. He attended the Lower Corral Creek School through the sixth grade. He then attended school in Circle where he graduated from high school in 1974. Mark attended Montana State University in Bozeman graduating with a degree in Ag Business in 1978. He moved to Broadus where he was the Powder River County Extension Agent until 1981 when he returned to the family ranch and joined his father and brother. Mark was married to Ellen LaRowe in the First Lutheran Church at Circle on April 27, 1985. Mark continued to work with his family at the ranch raising commercial and registered Saler Cattle. He enjoyed judging livestock and was very honored to be asked to judge the Champion of Champions Livestock show on two different occasions as well as numerous other fairs. Mark also enjoyed working with the youth while working as a county agent. He was a member of the Circle Evangelical Church, served on the Pastor Parish Board and taught Sunday School. He was also a Past Director of the State Saler Association. Mark's special love was for his wife and children. He also loved the ranch and ranch life.
Survivors include: his wife, Ellen; children: Lee, Naomi and Sarah, all of the family home; his parents: Earl and Betty Jensen of Circle; a brother, Wes Jensen and his wife, Cheryl of Circle; four sisters: Barbara Bailly and her husband, Bert of Wolf Point, Marilyn Sorensen and her husband, George of Great Falls, Linda Jambeck and her husband, Nick of Sanibel Island, Fla., and Janet McCabe and her husband, Dean of Circle; numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at 2 p.m. in the Circle Evangelical Church with Pastor James Riekeman and Pastor Rich Greenwald officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview cemetery in Circle. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge of the arrangements.

Marlene Delores Reid Johnson
COLUMBUS - Marlene Delores Reid Johnson, 66, of Columbus, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at her home. She was born to John and Dorothy (Wadsworth) Reid on Nov. 3, 1932, in Bear Creek, and has lived in the Columbus area all of her life.
Marlene was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, gardening, and flowers. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Columbus. She was active with the bridge club and enjoyed visiting with people.

Mrs. Johnson was Clerk of District Court of Stillwater County from June 1980-1995. She also worked for the Stillwater County extension office.

Survivors include her son, Bill Johnson Jr.; daughter and son-in-law Vicki (Johnson) Hyatt and Rich Hyatt; grandsons, Coleman and Shea; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Debbie Johnson; grandchildren, Laurel, Cable, and Erin. She is also survived by her close friend, Ardis Webb.

Granny Marlene was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Columbus. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with a luncheon to follow. Rite of Committal will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at Red Lodge cemetery. Memorials may be made to: St. Mary's Catholic Church in Columbus. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Hollis Cretsinger
BAKER - Hollis Cretsinger, 86, of Baker passed away on Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. He was born on Dec. 26, 1911, the son of John S. and Margaret Christenson Cretsinger at Lincoln, Neb.
As a young child, he moved with his parents to their homestead. Hollis attended rural country schools in Fallon County. He entered the U.S. Army and served during WWII as a Private in Co. D. in the 4th Armored Replacement Battalion. After being honorably discharged, Hollis returned to the Medicine Rocks area where he farmed the rest of his life.

He will always be remembered for his care of the land and his love for building and caring for the shelter belts. Hollis also enjoyed gardening. He especially enjoyed his sisters, nephews and nieces. Due to failing health, Hollis made his home in the Wibaux County Nursing Home.

Survivors include: four sisters: Dorothy Hufford of Baker, Helen Foster of Grand Junction, Colo., Ruby Manska of New Port, Tenn., and Clara Mae White of Hettinger, N.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Katherine Flor.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at the Medicine Rocks Church. Burial will follow in the Medicine Rocks Church cemetery. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Medicine Rocks Church, Willard, Mont. 59354.

Floyd Louis Lilienthal
JORDAN - Floyd Louis Lilienthal, age 80, of Jordan passed away Monday, Oct. 26, at the Garfield County Health Center in Jordan.
Floyd was born on Oct. 13, 1918, at the homestead east of Angela, the son of Henry and Anna (Ponsor) Lilienthal. Floyd married Sylvia Pluhar on Aug. 15, 1942, in Miles City.

They resided in Miles City until moving to Cohagen in 1946. Floyd worked for Sylvia's dad until 1952, then went to work for the Garfield County road crew until his retirement in 1978. Floyd moved his family to Jordan in 1960.

Floyd was a school board trustee for many years in Cohagen and Jordan. He belonged to the Jordan Community Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed people, dancing, playing cards, music and his family. He always had a good sense of humor. With the help of his sons, he wired many houses in the county when electricity first came in. He loved to mechanic and carpenter.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia Lilienthal of Jordan; his seven children: Clarence Lilienthal and his wife, Donna of Eden Prairie, Minn.; Adonna Toshoff and her husband, Jim of Harlowton; Lyle Lilienthal and his wife, Idella of Malta; Janice Nelson and her husband, David of Dickinson, N.D.; Keith Lilienthal and his wife, Roxie of Toston; Wayne Lilienthal of Billings; Irene Trogden and her husband, James of Miles City; two sisters: Alma Handley of Billings; and Hattie Bums of Sacramento, Calif.; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ted

A prayer service will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the VFW Hall in Jordan with Rev. Helen Young officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Pioneer cemetery with a luncheon to follow. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church, Garfield County Health Center, or the charity of one's choice.

William 'Bill' Miller
LAUREL - William "Bill" Miller passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born west of Park City on Dec. 13, 1916, the son of Fred and Emilie Miller. He attended school in Lovell, Wyo. On March 7, 1939, he married Edna Metzger in Red Lodge. Bill enlisted in the army where he helped serve his country during World War II. After the war Bill and his family settled in Laurel, where they raised their six children. Bill worked for A&A Builders of Laurel and the Laurel Public Schools from which he retired in 1984.
Bill enjoyed fishing, telling stories around the camp fire, gardening, reading, his crossword puzzles, weight lifting, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; brothers, Emil (Tillie) Marcus and John (Rosalie) Miller, both of Laurel; sisters, Katie Palin of Philipsburg and Theodora Bolen of Billings; sons, Ken (Karen) Miller of Billings, Max (Vickie) Miller and Ron (Joan) Miller, both of Laurel; daughters, Charlene (Dennis) Ringheimer, Judy (Larry) Horton and Linda (Doug) Schwindt, all of Laurel; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel. Memorials can be made to New Hope Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1154, Laurel, MT 59044 or charity of one's choice.

David C. Fowler
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - David C. Fowler, 71, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at his home east of Sheridan.
Viewing will be held before the services at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the church with interment in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Maybelle S. Leece
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Maybelle S. Leece, 74, of Thermopolis, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Riverton Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the church with interment in Riverside cemetery. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge.

Goldie Ruth McGovern
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Goldie Ruth McGovern, 61, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Hot Springs Christian Church. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge.

Gaylen D. Kelley
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Gaylen D. Kelley, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at the VA Medical Center.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date in the Elks cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Alta Jennie Good
WOLF POINT - Alta Jennie Good, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at the Faith Home.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the chapel with interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Fritz Purcell
BUFFALO, Wyo. - Fritz Purcell, 74, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at his home of emphysema.
Visitation will be 1-10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, and 8-9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel with interment in Willow Grove cemetery.
