McLEOD - Orval S. Ellison, 77, of McLeod, longtime rancher and retired legislator, died suddenly Sunday evening at Billngs Deaconess Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston.

Samuel Curtis Collins
LOVELL, Wyo. - Samuel Curtis Collins, 92, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at his daughter's home in Lovell.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Haskell Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Lovell LDS Stake Center with interment in the Lovell cemetery.

Donald J. Chapman
LIVINGSTON - Donald J. Chapman, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the chapel of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home with graveside committal and interment in Park View Gardens cemetery.

William F. Brosseau
SACO - William F. Brosseau, 78, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings of heart failure.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Adams Memorial Chapel in Malta. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at St. Francis Catholic Church with interment in the Grandview cemetery.

Edman Jackson 'Jack' Brewer
POWELL, Wyo. - Edman Jackson "Jack" Brewer, age 80, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at Powell Nursing Home. He was born June 25, 1918, in St. Joe, Ark., the son of Thomas Grover and Mary Ann Thornton Brewer. He married Ruth Elizabeth Jones on Oct. 14, 1937, in Lutie, Mo. Mrs. Brewer preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1995, in Billings, Mont.
A longtime Wyoming resident, Jack had lived in the Garland and Powell area for 50 years. He worked as a ditchrider for the Shoshone Irrigation District in Powell until his retirement.
Jack was a past president and longtime member of the Wyoming Fiddlers Association, District 2. He has won numerous contest awards at fiddling events. In 1998, Jack was presented with a special award to commemorate 25 years attendance at the Wyoming State Fiddlers Contest held in Shoshoni. He enjoyed raising and training his quarter horses and planting and raising his yearly vegetable garden. Jack also enjoyed his friends and dearly loved his family.
His survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Janet Brewer of Cody and Larry and Zoe Brewer of Powell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol and Chuck Eckley of Riverton and Muriel Brewer of Cody; 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe Brewer of Wichita, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; two sisters, Dorothy Silvey and Orpha Pride; and a grandson, Jody Stransky.
Visitations for Mr. Brewer will be Tuesday evening, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at First Southern Baptist Church of Powell with Pastor Richard Gatlin of the Cody First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill cemetery.
Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Wyoming Fiddler's Association, District No. 2 in Jack's memory.

Barbara Jo 'Jody' Badgett
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Barbara Jo "Jody" Badgett, 63, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at her home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the First Christian Church. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Ralph G. Backes
LIVINGSTON - Ralph G. Backes, 74, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at his home.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Chuck Nicholson was in charge.

Nancy Eunice Cohen
BRIDGER - Nancy Eunice Cohen, 80, of Bridger, formerly of Tulsa, Okla., passed away Oct. 17, 1998, in Billings.
Eunice was born at Huntsville, Ark., Feb. 11, 1918, and two years later her family moved to Mayes County, Okla. After graduation she worked in the medical field in Tulsa.
She married William (Bill) Cohen in November of 1941. Nancy faithfully attended Tulsa Baptist Temple and served the Lord there in many ways.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and son, Tony Allex Cohen, and granddaughter, Traci Moorman.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Wayne Moorman, with whom she has lived with the past five years. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Toni (Dale) Berger, Heidi (Jeremy) Conard, Mike (Traci) Moorman, Jodi and Marci Moorman; three sisters, Lela Bond, Faye Perkins and Daisy Cavalier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel, with interment in Floral Haven cemetery, Tulsa.

Elsie Niemi Harrison
Elsie Harrison passed away Oct. 17, 1998, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Billings. Elsie leaves many lifelong friends as well as the wonderful staff and residents at St. John's.
Elsie was born the fifth child of Einar and Agnes Niemi at Red Lodge on Nov. 11, 1918. On Dec. 17, 1938, Elsie married her childhood sweetheart, Archie Harrison, in Billings with a double wedding with her brother, Bill, and Archie's sister, Goldie, all exchanging wedding vows together. Archie and Elsie had three sons, Ernest, Delmer and James. These two families raised their children together on Butcher Creek, ranching close together with many happy memories with friends and both families.
Elsie loved to knit and garden and was a wonderful cook. She loved to spend time with her family and liked a good long walk. She and Archie loved to dance and play cards and were lifetime partners in their ranching business that they shared with their family.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Archie, and five brothers and one sister. She is survived by two sisters, Marion, (Mrs. Frank Bachini) of Havre and Laverna Pilati of Red Lodge; and her three sons and their families, Ernest and (Wanda) Harrison of Billings, Delmer and (Janette) Harrison of Roy, and James and (Renata) Harrison of Henderson, Nev. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jay, Sheila, Marty, Mark, Micheal, Monty and Eric, and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be sent to St. John's Lutheran Home, 3940 Rimrock Road, Billings, Mont. 59102, or the charity of your choice.

Donald Lloyd Heidner
WOLF POINT - Donald Lloyd Heidner, 68, of Wolf Point, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at the Poplar Community Nursing Home of diabetes and renal failure.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Clayton Memorial Chapel. Services with refreshments to follow will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Community Bible Church with interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Helen A. Miller
Helen A. Miller passed peacefully at her daughter's home Sunday morning, Oct. 18, 1998. She was born in Max, N.D., on Dec. 27, 1907, to Thomas and Antonino Timoskevich, immigrants from Poland. She spent her early childhood in Southern Alberta. Helen attended boarding school and completed Business School in Minot, N.D. She married Andrew O. Miller in 1926. In 1935, they moved to Crosby, N.D., where they together operated Andy's Cafe for 30 years where she was well known for the homemade pies she baked daily.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, 1967; her eldest son, Bill, 1987; and her two brothers and sister. Survivors include her children and spouses: Dr. T.J. Miller, Marion and Joe Lenneman, Rosie and John Wathen of Billings; Dan and Mary Miller, Mark and Nancy Miller of Las Vegas, Nev.; Jean (Koller) and Bob Masters, Willmar, Minn.; Val and Vince Ames, Grand Forks, N.D.; daughters-in-law, Clara Miller of Bismarck, N.D., and Helen Miller of Billings.
Grandchildren include: Tom, Patti, Dan, Kathy, Julia (Miller); Andy, Val, Danielle, Michael, Patrick, John, Megan (Miller); Paul, Marc, Sarah (Lenneman); John, Joe, Marion, Mark (Koller); Vic, DeeAnn, Brad, Kari (Ames); Andrea, Amy, Rosanna, Dan, Dave (Wathen); Brad (Miller); Glen (Miller). Helen is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren.

Vigil Services: Tuesday 7 p.m. at St. Pat's Co-Cathedral. Funeral Mass: Wednesday 12 noon at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral. Memorials: Billings Central Catholic High School, 3 Broadwater, Billings, MT 59101.

Melissa "Cobbie" Rude
Melissa D. "Cobbie" Rude, 93 of Billings, formerly Vancouver, Wash., died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
The daughter of Samuel and Katherine Cobb, Cobbie was born June 9, 1905, in Townsend. She married H. Clyde Rude in Helena, July 3, 1937. He preceded her in death. A teacher, Cobbie worked in the Vancouver Public School system for 35 years.
Survivors include her sister, Alta Chakos of Billings, and two brothers, Richard D. Cobb of Conrad and W.D. Cobb of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Cremation has taken place. Interment is planned in Emmett, Idaho.
Memorials may be made to Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.
Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

Lillian A. Woodenthigh
ASHLAND - Lillian A. Woodenthigh, age 63, member of the Northern Cheyenne and Oglala Sioux tribes, departed this life on Oct. 15, 1998, in the St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, due to a long illness. She passed away with the comfort of her family and loved ones at her bedside.
She was born on Feb. 13, 1935, the daughter of Samuel and Martha (Wolfname) Weaselbear Sr., one of their 12 children. Lillian resided in Ashland with her husband of 31 years, Teddy Woodenthigh. During that time she held employment with the Guild Arts and Crafts in Ashland. She also worked for the Head Start Program, the St. Labre Cafeteria and was a cook for the Northern Cheyenne Senior Citizens Program for quite sometime.
Lillian was deeply involved with the Northern Cheyenne religion and also of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed sewing star quilts, beading, making shawls and traditional clothing for her children and grandchildren, all while listening to handgame, peyote or pow-wow songs. Her favorite past time was Handgame. Her love for the game took her and her family, along with many friends, on many long trips to the mid-South and Northern reservations to play. Lillian and her husband have met many, many lifelong friends through the game, too many to print.
Survivors include her husband, Teddy Woodenthigh, Germaine (Monte) Haugen, and Iola Woodenthigh of Ashland, Anna (Joel) White of Apple Valley, Calif., Joseph (Emily) Weaselbear and Juanita (Eric) Killsnight of Lame Deer; Adopted daughters, Rosella Woodenthigh and Sonja and Rhoda Glenmore of Busby, and Tracey Vivar of Jackson Heights, N.Y.; she raised Robert Weaselbear Jr. and Melvin Woodenthigh Sr.; a nephew, Connie Weaselbear; and three nieces: Cleo Red Feather, Arlene Hawk and Lisa Two Bulls, all of South Dakota; sisters: Wilma Twomoons, Mary Shoulderblade and Wendeline Neiss, all of Lame Deer; a cousin, Nancy Weaselbear of Seattle, Wash.; brothers, Don and Francis Shoulderblade; two uncles, Van Ryan Sr. and Robert Bearchum Sr. of Lame Deer; two special sisters-in-law, Phyllis BigLeftHand of San Fernando, Calif., and Elsie Weaselbear of Lame Deer. Lillian had 11 grandchildren, which include two special granddaughters, April Haugen and Tedi Woodenthigh, Weaselbear family of South Dakota and the Wolfname family of Busby. She was preceded in death by her parents; her nine brothers: Robert, Carl, Lorenzo, Moses, Paul, Ralph, Herman, Archie, and Samuel Jr.; two sisters, Valoria and Ernestine Weaselbear; and one son, Samuel J. Powell. Lillian was the great-great-granddaughter of Chief Big Foot of the Oglala's.
Lillian will be greatly missed by all whom knew and loved her.
A wake service will be held in her private home on Monday, Oct. 19, for all family members. Another wake service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at 6 p.m. at the St. Labre Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at the St. Labre Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the family lot in the St. Labre cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.

Nora C. Bradford
WILLISTON, N.D. - Nora C. Bradford, 82, of Williston, formerly of Culbertson, Mont., died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, in Mercy Medical Center in Williston.
Visitation will be from 9 am. until 6 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at Fulkerson Funeral Home in Williston. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the Fulkerson Funeral Home with interment in Riverview cemetery, Williston.

Ernest Brown
MILES CITY - Ernest Brown, 98, of Miles City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Graveside services will be Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Hill Crest cemetery in Grants Pass, Ore.

Leonard Dittus
LEAD, S.D. - Leonard Dittus, 74, of Lead, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, at N.H. General Hospital in Deadwood.
He was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Fredonia, N.D., to Gottfried and Clara (Findel) Dittus. He grew up on their family farm and attended country school in Fredonia.
On Oct. 31, 1952, he married Eileen Griesbach. They moved to Lead when Leonard started working for Homestake Mining Company as a trackman.
He was a veteran of WW II, a member of the VFW, and a live member of the Homestake Union.
He enjoyed fishing, animals, and his greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Eileen, of Lead; two sons, David and Julie Dittus, of Aberdeen, and Jimmy Dittus, of Lead; two daughters, Dorothy and Pete Huck, of Billings, Mont., and Lois Butler, Tooele, Utah; five brothers, Gerhard Dittus, of Fredonia, N.D., Rueben Dittus, of Oakes, N.D., and Roy Dittus, Willie Dittus, and Paul Dittus, all of Portland, Ore.; five sisters, Emma Miller of Wishek, N.D., Annetta Hauf, of Hunter, N.D., Alvina Otterstetter, of Oakes, N.D., Loraine Fischer, of Portland, Ore., and Marian Purcell, of Tulsa, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 18, at Fidler Funeral Chapel in Lead from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead, with Rev. David Baer officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National cemetery in Sturgis.
