Ada Shoonover-Cain
MILES CITY - Ada Shoonover-Cain, 83, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at Saint Vincent Health Center in Billings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Custer County cemetery.

Anna Elizabeth Worm Steiner
Anna Elizabeth Worm Steiner, 86 of Billings passed away Nov. 27, 1998, at Deaconess Medical Center. She was born Nov. 30, 1911, in Kent, Russia, a daughter of Andrew and Katherine Worm. Anna was six months old when her family decided to emigrate to the United States on board of the RMS Titanic. While waiting at the dock for the ship to arrive a band of gypsies stole Anna off the dock and it was three days later that her father found the gypsy camp and got Anna back. They took her because of her red hair. Needless to say they missed the Titanic. Her family then came to the United States on the SS Dominion which sailed into Philadelphia. Anna loved to tell this story because it is a true one. She became a U.S. citizen in 1922.
Anna worked for the Yellow-stone Cannery, did yard work and farmed with her brother Chris in Billings.
She was active in the Retired Senior Citizen Center, volunteer program, loved quilting and belonged to OAKS and loved managing the information center at the Billings Logan International Airport. She also was a member of the Billings Gem Club, had a special green thumb with raising flowers of all kinds, and especially loved the wildflowers of Montana and was a winner at playing blackjack at the nursing home.
She is survived by sons: Douglas (Mary) Steiner of Park City and Dr. Dwight (Peggy) Steiner of Fort Washakie, Wyo.; daughters: Lillian (Paul) Woodward of Cle Elum, Wash., Carol (John) Tampazopou-los of Axtell, Texas; Linda Stalkfleet of Billings and Anna E. Quealy of Seattle. She also had 26 grandchildren, 53 great- grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Keiikos and all of her brothers and sisters.
Anna will be loved and missed by all of her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, (her birthday) at Smith Downtown Chapel. Memorials may be sent to the Stillwater Convalescent Center; P.O. Box 789; Columbus, MT 59019.

Elmer Dean Bent
Elmer Dean Bent died Nov. 24, 1998, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident north of Bridger. Born in Billings on June 26, 1944. Dean was the son of Mabel "Betty" Catherine (Smith) and Elmer Robert Bent. Dean was raised in Bridger graduating from high school in 1962. He then attended the University of Montana where he majored in accounting. Prior to going to work for Corporate Air in 1987, Dean worked various jobs in Missoula, Spokane, Wash., Clarkston, Wash., Newport, Wash., and Billings in the accounting field.
Dean enjoyed hunting, gun shows, children, lunch with the crew at Doc n Eddy's, supper at the Trapper with his father and friends, and "Butch" his bull dog and his cat. He loved to joke with his family and friends. They all enjoyed his quaint sense of humor.
Survivors include his father, Elmer R. Bent of Bridger; daughter, Jennifer and husband Scott Curtis of S. Lake Tahoe, Calif.; son, Robert R. and Mary Bent of Jacksonville, N.C.; sister, Darlene and husband Lonnie Schwend of Bridger. He is also survived by granddaughters: Lacey Brooke Handeland and Jaque Lee Bent; grandsons: Jamie Allen Bent, Jesse Nathan Bent and Bryce Lee Curtis; nieces: Cathy and husband Kevin Weimer, and Stephanie and husband Hank Scarber; nephew, Wes and wife Tara Schwend; great nephews: Stetson Schwend and Cliff Scarber; and great nieces: Jessica Scarber, Shaniah Schwend and Savvana Weimer. Dean was preceded in death by his mother; and one brother, Robert.
There will be visitation from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Bridger Methodist Church. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be directed to the Bridger Volunteer Fire Department.

Naomi Davidson
Naomi Davidson, 95, of Billings, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital.
The daughter of Frederick and Ida Sibley, Naomi was born June 18, 1903, in Mazeppa, Minn. She moved with her father to Lavina in 1911.
Her husband, James Davidson, preceded her in death in December 1944.
Survivors include her son, Jim Davidson and his wife, Peggy of Billings, and her sister, Marion Hoyer of Belt.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stephens Episcopal Church Chapel.
Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

Eldora M. Davis
LOVELL, Wyo. - Eldora M. Davis, 85, of Lovell, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Haskell Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, in the Byron cemetery.

Gladys Marie Kinnison
BUFFALO, Wyo. - Gladys Marie Kinnison, 84, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at her home.
Visitation will be 1-10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Adams Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at the funeral home chapel.

Richard R. Knoll
LOGAN, Utah - Richard Raymond Knoll, 41, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Logan after a 13-year battle with cancer.
Richard was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Billing to Donald R. and Florence Buck Knoll. He married Lora Lee Wight in 1981 in Boise, Idaho. They had three children. They later divorced.
Richard loved the outdoors and spent as much time as he could in the mountains. He was a talented photographer, artist and writer and was an avid rock collector. He loved music, Star Trek, and most of all, his children. He took many pictures of them and documented all their milestones.
Richard had a great talent for making lifelong friends. He showed tremendous perseverance throughout his trials with cancer. He bore everything he was faced with, and did so with a wonderful sense of humor and touched the lives of many of the people he came in contact with. Richard will be missed.
Richard leaves his children: Benjamin, 15, Michael, 13, and Jennifer, 12, all of Hyde Park; his mother, Florence Knoll of Boise, Idaho, his father, Donald R. Knoll of Billings; his close friend, LouAnn West of St. George, Utah; and numerous extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, in the Cranney Mortuary Chapel, 420 E. 1800 N. in Logan with Bishop Lynn Jaggi conducting. A visitation will be held at the mortuary following the memorial services.

Martha Krogedal
CULBERTSON - Martha Krogedal, 87, formerly of Froid, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at the Froid Lutheran Church with interment in the Kvile cemetery north of Froid. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge.

David L. LaGree
FORSYTH - David L. LaGree, 89, formerly of Red Lodge, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at the Rosebud Health Care Center after a heart attack.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel. Cremation will follow and interment will be held at a later date.

Richard D. McAnally
POPLAR - Richard Dana McAnally, 80, of Poplar, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings of congestive heart failure.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at the Poplar Presbyterian Church with interment in the Poplar City cemetery.

Bessie R. McLane
COSTA MESA, Calif. - Bessie R. McLane was born 92 years ago in Plainfield, Iowa, on July 12, 1906, to William and Effie Robinson. She passed onto her Savior on Nov. 17, 1998.
Bessie moved from Iowa with her parents in 1914, where they homesteaded on a ranch 16 miles north of Reedpoint, Mont. Bessie attended the local rural grade schools and graduated from Sweetgrass County High School in Big Timber, Mont. She attended "Normal" training in Billings and became a teacher, teaching in several rural schools in Sweetgrass and Stillwater counties.
She was married to Oscar O. McLane on June 12, 1929. They had 62 wonderful years together. To this union were born four children: Evelyn Jean Kramer of Monte Vista, Colo., Dale L. McLane of Costa Mesa, Glenn Everett McLane, who preceded his parents in death on July 11, 1942, and Don Edwin McLane of Loveland, Colo.
Bessie and her family lived on various farms in the Sweetgrass County area until moving to Big Timber in March of 1947, accepting a position with the Big Timber Grade School. In June of 1956 Bessie and her family moved to Billings to accept a position with the Billings School District. From 1968 until 1974, Bessie and Oscar were in charge of the "Camp on the Boulder." During the winter months they traveled, visiting their family and friends and enjoying retirement. After Oscar's death, she moved to St. John's retirement home until May 1997, when her health required more care and she moved to Costa Mesa, Calif., to live with her son, Dale. She spent many happy hours with Dale's family.
Bessie was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church. She always considered her family and church as the most important part of her life. She loved to knit and crochet and made an afghan for each of her descendants. Her survivors include her three children, Evelyn, Dale, Don, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Visitations will begin Monday morning at the Smith Downtown Chapel and continue until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The casket will be closed at the church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 345 Broadwater Ave. with interment at 3 p.m. at the Mountain View cemetery in Big Timber. Smith Downtown Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Clay McMullin
MILES CITY - Lloyd Clay McMullin, age 80, of Miles City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Lloyd was born in Miles City on June 26, 1918, the son of James and Nancy (Gunther) McMullin. He attended school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School in 1937. He worked for the Milwaukee railroad until being called to the service. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945. He ranched in the Crow Rock area until his retirement in 1992. At that time, he moved to the Eagles Manor in Miles City and has resided there since.
Lloyd is survived by a sister, Pearl Marx of Tacoma, Wash., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Mae Lotz, Grace Cahill, and Edna Askin; and six brothers: Charles, Carl, James, Floyd, Jack, and Robert.
Cremation has taken place. At Lloyd's request, no services are planned. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.

Vernon W. Schauer
WOLF POINT - Vernon W. Schauer, 47, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at his home of congenital heart failure.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at the chapel with interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Robert E. Thompson Sr.
WASHBURN, N.D. - Robert E. Thompson Sr., 70, formerly of Culbertson, Mont., died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at his daughter's home in Washburn.
Friends may call at the church one hour before services. Services will be at 10 a.m. (MDT) Monday, Nov. 30, at the United Methodist Church in Culbertson with interment at 2:15 p.m. (CDT) in the United cemetery Mausoleum in Tioga. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Williston is in charge.

Robert A. Torgrimson
LEWISTOWN - Robert A. "Bob" Torgrimson, 38, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Creel Funeral Chapel with burial at the Beaver Creek cemetery. Creel Funeral Chapel is in charge.

Jerry Christensen (Egeland) Underwood
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Jerry Underwood, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, in Memorial Sheridan Hospital, Sheridan.
She was born in Frannie, July 20, 1929, to Don and Elaine (Casey) Christensen. She attended grade school in Frannie and graduated from Deaver High School in 1946, continuing her education at Northwest Community College in Powell.
She enjoyed traveling, was an avid rock hound, loved music and dancing. For many years she worked for the City Drug in Livingston, Mont., and was a bookkeeper for many Livingston businesses. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and her grandchildren brought her special joy.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Albert Hieb, Don Egeland and Richard Underwood. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Elaine Christensen.
Survivors include one son and daughter and their spouses: Mike and Valerie Hieb of Frannie, Pixie and Pete Wilson of Sheridan; grandchildren, Eric Hieb of Denver, Colo., Chris Hieb and wife, Jenniffer of Deaver, Tracy Wilson of Cody, and Nathan Wilson of Sheridan; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Karene and Dick Wagner of Deaver, Dona and Gary White of Livingston, Tara and Wayne Wagner of Cody; and step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Deaver Methodist Church. Graveside services following at Deaver cemetery.
Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell is in charge of arrangements.
