Rosa Lee Underwood
CODY, Wyo. - Rosa Lee Underwood, 59, of Cody, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at Ballard Funeral Home with interment in Riverside cemetery.

Elmer Dean Bent
Elmer Dean Bent died Nov. 24, 1998, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident North of Bridger. Born in Billings on June 26, 1944. Dean was the son of Mabel "Betty" Catherine (Smith) and Elmer Robert Bent. Dean was raised in Bridger graduating from high school in 1962. He then attended the University of Montana where he majored in accounting. Prior to going to work for Corporate Air in 1987, Dean worked various jobs in Missoula, Spokane, Wash., Clarkston, Wash., Newport, Wash., and Billings in the accounting field.
Dean enjoyed hunting, gunshows, children, lunch with the crew at Doc n Eddy's, supper at the Trapper with his father and friends, and "Butch" his bull dog and his cat. He loved to joke with his family and friends. They all enjoyed his quaint sense of humor.
Survivors include his father, Elmer R. Bent of Bridger; daughter, Jennifer and husband Scott Curds of S. Lake Tahoe, Calif.; son, Robert R. and Mary Bent of Jacksonville, N.C.; sister, Darlene and husband Lonnie Schwend of Bridger. He is also survived by granddaughters: Lacey Brooke Handeland and Jaque Lee Bent; grandsons: Jamie Allen Bent, Jesse Nathan Bent and Bryce Lee Curtis; nieces: Cathy and husband Kevin Weimer, and Stephanie and husband Hank Scarber; nephew, Wes and wife Tara Schwend; great nephews: Stetson Schwend and Cliff Scarber; and great nieces: Jessica Scarber, Shaniah Schwend and Savvana Weimer. Dean was preceded in death by his mother; and one brother, Robert.
There will be visitation from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Bridger Methodist Church. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be directed to the Bridger Volunteer Fire Department.

George N. Econom
George N. Econom, 61, of Winifred died Tuesday morning at his home of natural causes. He was born May 3, 1937 in Spokane, Wash., the son of Nick and Helen Econom. They lived in Adair, Idaho, before moving to Winifred in 1938. George attended Winifred School graduating from Winifred High School in 1955. On Sept. 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Eileen Pollard in Lewistown. He farmed with his parents continuing after they retired. He later farmed with his children spending his life in Winifred with his family until his death
George was a family man and dreamed of farming with all of his children. He achieved this dream when they purchased the Bus & Alice Thompson Ranch for Becky and Keith and then the Art & Lucille Osburnson Ranch for Chris and Mike with Nick and Ann on the home ranch. He always said how nice it was to work with his son and two son-in-laws and be able to see his children and grandchildren everyday.
George served on the Central Montana Medical Center Board, Farm Credit Board, Winifred Community Club, Winifred Cenex, Winifred Harvest States, Winifred Rodeo Club, life member of the Lewistown Eagles Lodge, Montana Pilots Association, Farm Bureau and Winifred Rifle Club. In 1975, George was named Outstanding Young Farmer. In 1987, he was instrumental in helping to start the Central Montana Agriculture Tour and in 1997 was named Agriculture Person of the Year.
George is survived by his loving wife Eileen; one son: Nick and his wife Ann; two daughters: Becky Meckling and her husband Keith and Chris Schmitt and her husband Mike; eight grandchildren: Amy, Tara, Candee Meckling, Lindsey and Stephi Schmitt, Nicolas, Kari and Joe Econom all of Winifred; his mother Helen Econom of Lewistown; one sister: Callie Chamberlain and her husband Dick of Kalispell; two brothers: Sam of Vancouver, Wash. and Tom and his wife Wilma of Winifred; his special Uncle Paul Econom of Astoria, NY; a very special cousin, Jim Targaris and his wife Sevo of Chicago and Chris Paspalis of NY; his mother-in-law Marie Pollard of Lewistown; three sisters-in-law: Sandy Styer and her husband, Bill, of Winnemucca, Nev., Carol McGrail and her husband, Ron, of Billings and Joyce Pospicil of Lewistown and many much loved nieces and nephews.
His father preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Winifred High School with interment to follow in the Winifred cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Higinio 'Steve' Blanco Esteves
MILES CITY - Higinio "Steve" Blanco Esteves, 80, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at the Ft. Harris VA Medical Center in Helena.
A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment at the Custer County cemetery.

Pauline 'Polly' J. Keil
ROUNDUP - Pauline "Polly" J. Keil, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at her home.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Wier Funeral Chapel.

Lloyd Clay McMullin
MILES CITY - Lloyd Clay McMullin, 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at the Holy Rosary Center.
Cremation has taken place. At Lloyd's request, no services are planned. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Dean E. Preble
FORSYTH - Dean E. Preble, 44, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, after a heroic battle with cancer.
Dean was born Nov. 7, 1954, in Great Falls the son of Lowell "Bud" and Ardith Preble. He was raised in Great Falls and graduated from CMR in 1973. Dean attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings where he served as student body president his senior year. He graduated summa cum laude in 1977. Dean received his Master of Science in Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington.
On May 20, 1978, Dean married Dawn McCulloch in Forsyth. They became the proud parents of three daughters. Dean found the career he loved and taught high school math at Havre, Billings West, and Forsyth. He felt privileged to be part of the National Science Foundation's SIMMS Project which developed a curriculum that integrates learning and technology. He did summer workshops for Texas Instruments, and served as treasurer of Montana Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
He is survived by his wife Dawn of Forsyth; three daughters, Chettie, Heather, and Merridy; mother Ardith Preble of Great Falls; in-laws Gene and Corrine McCulloch of Forsyth; sister Darlene (Bill) Staffeldt of Clancy; brother David (Danette) Preble of Libby; brother-in-law Scott (Ann) McCulloch of Billings; sister-in-law Jacquie Preble of Great Falls; grandmother Hazel Dietz of Oakes, ND, and 11 nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by his father Lowell and older brother Dan.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday Nov. 28, 1998, at the Federated Church in Forsyth with interment of the urn to follow at the Forsyth cemetery. Memorials will be used to establish a Dean Preble Scholarship. Beals Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Arden Quinlan
FORSYTH - Arden Quinlan, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at the Rosebud Health Center.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at a later date.

Richard R. Knoll
LOGAN, Utah - Richard R. Knoll, 41, formerly of Billings, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of cancer.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, in the Cranney Mortuary Chapel with visitation to follow.

William J. Mason
FAIRVIEW - William J. "Bill" Mason, 75, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at the Sidney Health Center.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the Lawndale cemetery in Opheim. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.

Gladys L. McCarten
BRIDGER - Gladys L. McCarten, 92, of Bridger, formerly of Sidney, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Center in Billings.
Rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bridger. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Sidney with interment in the Fairview cemetery. Olcott Funeral Chapel of Red Lodge and Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney are in charge.

Stewart S. Armstrong
MEETEETSE, Wyo. - Stewart S. Armstrong, 90, of Meeteetse, died Nov. 21, 1998.
Stewart was born May 16, 1908, in Howard, Mont., the son of William H. Armstrong and Anna B. Snook. On July 28, 1934, he married Mary Myrtle Brown in Red Lodge, Mont.
Stewart was an excellent hunter. He, along with his faithful partner, Myrtle owned and operated an outfitting business for 30 years that stretched from Meeteetse up the Greybull River to the Venus Basin.
Additionally, Stewart raised two daughters and one nephew who became like a son to him. Stewart and Myrtle were avid square dancers for 56 years.
Stewart is survived by his wife, Myrtle; daughters, Caravenne Pedersen of Cody and Serena Thorson of Caye Caulker, Belize, Central America. Grandchildren include Stewart Plouvier of Wasilla, Alaska, Corina Damjanovich of Billings, and David Thorson of Belmopan, Belize, Central America. Great-grandchildren are Kyle Plouvier and Jason and Travis Damjanovich. Additionally, there is Bill Whitmore, his beloved nephew, as well as many dear nephews and nieces and dear friends.
Memorial service to be held Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, 1 p.m. at the Meeteetse High School.

Zema Rhea Baker
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Zema Rhea Baker, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Ferries Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the First Baptist Church with interment in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert 'Hap' Barber
DENTON - Robert T. "Hap" Barber, 81, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center in Lewistown.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Denton Community United Methodist Church with burial at Hillcrest cemetery. Creel Funeral Home is in charge.

Bertha M. Cutkosky
WAHPETON, N.D. - Bertha M. Cutkosky, 85, formerly of Billings, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at St. Catherine's Living Center.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings.

Lillian Ellerkamp
BOZEMAN - Lillian Ellkerkamp, 78, died Oct. 19, 1998, at the Evergreen Care Center.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Cherry Creek cemetery in northeastern Montana. Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service is in charge.

Raymond L. Focht
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Raymond LeRoy Focht, 68, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at his home.
Visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Kane Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Thomas Patrick 'Tom' Goff
ANTELOPE - Thomas Patrick "Tom" Goff, 71, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at his winter home in Needles, Calif.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Plentywood; interment of cremated remain, will be at the Plentywood cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Rodney J. Greenwood
LARSLAN - Rodney J. Greenwood, 21, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, in Union City, Wash.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow with burial at the Highland cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge.
