Amy E. Frickle
Amy E. Frickle, 92, of Billings, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 1998.
The daughter of Conrad and Elizabeth Fitchner, Amy was born Nov. 17, 1905, in Goodrich, N.D. When she was 14, the family moved to Montana. Amy married George Frickle in Laurel, Feb. 19, 1928. They farmed west of Billings until moving to Billings in 1948.
She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans, and sewing. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Mrs. Frickle was a member of Billings Bible Church.
Survivors include her husband, George, of Billings; two daughters: Mrs. Corrine Michel and LaDonna Bexell and her husband, Larry, all of Billings; two sons: Elwood Frickle and his wife Carol of Seattle, and Gary Frickle of Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James, son-in-law, Dick Michel, her parents and two brothers.
Friends may gather at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, Alderson Chapel for Graveside services 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Mountview cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Greater Billings Chapter, Box 35200, Billings, MT 59107.

Victoria Gomez
POWELL, Wyo. - Victoria Gomez, 16, died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at the Powell Hospital.
Visitation will be between 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home and also at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the LDS Church in Powell. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the LDS Church with burial at Crown Hill cemetery.

Robert F. 'Bob' Hensel Sr.
Robert F. "Bob" Hensel Sr., 65, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at the Deaconess Hospital in Billings. He was born on Aug. 28, 1933, in Fairmont, Minn., the eldest son of Edward E. and Linda (Hilgemeier) Hensel.
Bob served in law enforcement with the Bremerton, Wash., Police Reserve, as range master and firearms training officer. Also in Billings, as a jailer with the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department.
A master automotive technician, Bob worked for Archie Cochrane Ford, in Billings, and dealerships in Florida. Most recently he was a driver for City Cab.
A skilled craftsman, Bob was also a gunsmith, and was noted for his finely crafted custom-made rifles, and knives. A longtime member of the National Rifle Association, he was an active proponent of the Second Amendment, and an avid hunter and fisherman.
On Dec. 7, 1974, Bob, and Flora Peake, were united in marriage in Bremerton and moved to Billings in 1977.
Bob is survived by his wife, Flora, of the family home. Sons: Robert "Bob" Jr. (Maggie), Clinton (Tanya) and Edward (Nicole), and his much loved granddaughter, Rebecca Jade, all of Billings. Daughters: Beverly Bruns, and Brenda Kelly; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Schuler.
Bob is also survived by granddaughter Lisa (Brian) Tetzlaff, and great-granddaughters, Britney and Areona, of Woodbury. A brother, Richard (Gloria) Hensel, Big Lake. Sisters, Alice (Donald) Hart, Shakopee, Evelyn (Harlon) Swenson, Zimmerman, Mary (Wm.) Husberg, Glencoe, all of Minnesota.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9th, at the Free Will Baptist Church, 1545 Hawthorne Lane, Billings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Rockies Cancer Center, and the Deaconess Foundation.

Dorothea McDowell
BRIDGER - Dorothea Pearce Taylor McDowell, 90, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at Evergreen Laurel Health and Rehab Center.
Dorothea "Dot" McDowell was born July 3, 1908, in Ossining, N.Y. a daughter of Irving and Mary Taylor. She graduated from Wellesley College, Wellesley, Mass. in 1930 with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts. She was employed by New York City Library from 1930 to 1934.
Dot was married to Mabry McDowell June 2, 1934, in Livingston and had resided at the McDowell Ranch on Bluewater Creek since 1947. She taught piano lessons for many years in the Clark's Fork Valley. She loved little children and crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Dewey of Winter Park, Fla.; children, Jim (Roberta) of Silesia, Sam (Monica) of Bridger, Mary Blain (Rodney) of Billings and Peggy Klein (Larry) of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Church of the Good Shepherd in Bridger with interment in Bridger cemetery. Memorials are suggested to: Bridger Youth Rodeo, P.O. Box 481, Bridger, MT. 59014; Church Of The Good Shepherd, Bridger or charity of one's choice. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Glen E. Packer
WORLAND, Wyo. - Glen E. Packer, 85, formerly of Thermopolis, died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at the Washakie Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Community Federated Church in Thermopolis with the burial following at Riverview Memorial Gardens cemetery in Worland. Veile Mortuary is in charge.

Chester W. 'Chet' Temple
BRIDGER - Chester W. "Chet" Temple, 78, passed away at his home in Bridger, on Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, after a lengthy illness. Chet loved his family and particularly enjoyed his grandchildren.
Chester was born on Feb. 11, 1920, a son of Agnes Jonas Temple and Carl Chester Temple, on the family homestead in Dawson County. He attended Loughboro School and graduated from Dawson County High School in 1938. He farmed with his father until 1942 when he left to serve his country with the 91st Division, U.S. Army, in the Italian campaign of WWII. In 1946, Chester married Doris Slater in Laurel. He farmed in the Bridger area and later worked for Great Western Sugar Company until his retirement in 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years; seven daughters: Susan (Robert) Riehl of Billings, Eileen (Doug) Winterrowd of Meridian, Idaho, Carol of Bridger, Laurie of Lakewood, Colo., Bonnie Salanky of Lakewood, Colo., Lisa (Randy) Watkins of Troy, Mich., Barbara (Darrin) Heitmann of Hamilton; two sons: Robert (Debby) of Athol, Idaho, Jon (Jeanette) of Laurel; one sister, Irene Bolin of West Lafayette, Ind.; one brother, Harold of Glendive; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Ray.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice, the Bridger Ambulance Service or charity of choice.

Mary Wilson
LIVINGSTON - Mary Wilson, 93, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at the Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, in the chapel of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home. Graveside committal and burial will follow in Mountain View cemetery.

Arlan H. Ripplinger
MILES CITY - Arlan H. Ripplinger, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls, Wis. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with interment in the Mount Calvary cemetery in Chippewa Falls. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary 'Millie' Nelson
JORDAN - Mary "Millie" Zier Nelson, 68, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at the Garfield County Health Center.
Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at the VFW Hall with interment in the family lot in the Pioneer cemetery.

Phillip V. Bollinger
MILES CITY - Phillip V. Bollinger, 43, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at his home.
Funeral services and burial will be in Owensboro, Ky. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Frank H. Tolman
WORLAND, Wyo. - Frank H. Tolman, 80, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at Washakie Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at the Worland LDS Stake Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stake Center with interment in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge.

Dr. Herrick John Aldrich
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Dr. Herrick John Aldrich, 91, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at his home.
Visitation will be noon-6 p.m. Jan. 20, 1999, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with interment at a later date in Prairie Grove cemetery in Potter County, S.D. Champion Funeral Home is in charge.

Anna Alvarado
PLENTYWOOD - The Funeral Liturgy will be held for Anna Alvarado at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at St. Joseph's Church.
A public Vigil service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Fulkerson Funeral Home in Plentywood. Burial will be in Plentywood.
Anna, 17, died early on the morning of Dec. 27, 1998. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Chris J. Angle
Christopher Jacob Angle, 92, passed away at Western Manor on Saturday, Dec. 26, after a long illness. Chris was born in Spokane, Wash., on Oct. 26, 1906, to Jacob and Pearl Sanford Angle. In 1910 his parents homesteaded in Camas Prairie, Mont., and were the first white family in the area. His father built the first school which Chris attended and translated between the teacher and his fellow Native American students.
When it came time for high school, his family moved into Missoula. He graduated and then attended two years at the University of Montana. During that two years he delivered milk for a dairy each morning before attending classes.
Several summers he worked in the Palouse wheat fields during thrashing season driving the horses that pulled the combines. He and a partner went to South America with a boatload of cattle. While there they broke wild horses for the Hormel Meat Co. He later came back to Miles City, Mont., and worked for the Miles City Mercantile Co. for several years. He then bought into a partnership in a grocery/meat market in Broadus, Mont. He married Eleanor Broadus and became the proud father of his son, Chesley W. Angle, better known as, "Bill." After Chris and Eleanor were divorced, he sold his interest in the business and went to work for Yale Oil Co., later named Exxon, as auditor.
When WWII started, Chris was the first man called into service from Miles City. He served his four years learning to fly and then taught many other young men to become qualified pilots. He ferried planes to England and also flew President Truman to many areas in the U.S. After his discharge from the service he went back to auditing for Yale Oil, eventually working his way to the positions of salesman, district sales manager, personnel manager in the Billings area, and into the Denver area from which he retired as the personnel manager of the Northwest Region of Exxon in 1967. Upon retiring he and Virginia Young Angle, whom he married in 1947, returned to Billings with their two daughters, Marlane and Sharon. Chris spent the next 15 years selling real estate for Curtis Phipps and Woody Hannah until retiring at the age of 81.
Chris gave back to his community the gifts he'd received in his lifetime through volunteer service: helping the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Club come into being; having a helping hand in building up the Special "K" Ranch with his Kiwanis group; serving as president of his Kiwanis club and as lieutenant governor of his district; being a Mason for more than 50 years; being a member of the Billings Lodge #113; being a member of the Scottish Rite, and the Shrine; being a member and serving as worthy patron of Billings Friendship Chapter #124; and, as an active member of the Service Corp of Retired Executives (S.C.O.R.E.).
Chris is survived by his: wife, Ginnie; daughters, Marlane Angle, Ph.D. (Alan Sawyer) and Sharon Angle, both of Seattle; son, Bill Angle (Mary) of Kennesaw, Ga.; sister, Mary Pine of Phoenix; brothers, Ross and Chess Angle of Missoula, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Chris is preceded in death by his brother, Joe Angle of Livingston, Mont.
Memorial service 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Mayflower Congregational Church.
Memorials may be directed to: Boys and Girls Club of Billings, 505 Orchard Lane, Billings, Mont., 59101, or Special K Ranch, Columbus, Mont., 59019, or to charity of choice.

Campbell Caleb Calvert
LAUREL - Campbell Caleb Calvert, the son of Campbell B. and Cassie M. Calvert, died Dec. 22, 1998, at his home in Laurel, at the age of 74. He was born on Aug. 13, 1924, at Billings.
Cam attended school in Laurel until November of 1942, his senior year at Laurel High School. At that time he joined the Air Force and served with the Fifth Air Force 303rd Airdrome Squadron in the South Pacific.
Following military service he enrolled in the University of Montana at Missoula and graduated in 1950 with a degree in English.
Cam returned to Laurel and assumed the duties of reporter at the Laurel Outlook and ultimately became owner, publisher and editor.
On Sept. 9, 1950, Cam married Patricia G. Small, the daughter of Floyd and Virginia Small of Helena, Mont.
Campbell was always interested in and active in the community and was a member of community and civic groups. He served on the Laurel Public Library Board for many years. He was also a Mason, Rotarian, active in the Boy Scouts, charter member of the Laurel Golf Club, and an early member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church.
Campbell was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mathew Calvert, M.D., and his youngest son, Grant. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Laurel, a son Chris Calvert, Ph.D., and his wife Patty Robertus, of Winters, Calif.; and a daughter Tabitha Calvert of Cushman, Mont.
Cremation has taken place and according to Cams' wishes his ashes will be placed on Tabitha's ranch. Memorial services will be held at a later date at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel.

James Ronald Campbell Sr.
COLSTRIP- James Ronald Campbell Sr., 63, of Colstrip passed away on Dec. 27, 1998, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Jim was born Oct. 14, 1935, in Cedar Key, Fla., to Alex V. and Beatrice Campbell. He attended Cedar Key High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1955 where he was trained as an aircraft electrician.
Jim married Carolyn Watters on Nov. 2, 1962, in Apopka, Fla. They made their home in Cedar Key where Jim worked as a commercial fisherman as had four previous generations of his family. In 1975, he moved his family to Colstrip, where he was employed with Montana Power Co. Due to his illness, Jim retired from his position as senior lead plant operator earlier this month.
Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities with his family. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading.
He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge #52 in Forsyth since 1978.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Varnell and Edward.
He is survived by his wife Candy of Colstrip; three children, James Campbell Jr., and his wife Connie of Baker, Keith Campbell and his wife Bridgette of Joliet; and Alicia O'Toole and her husband John of Colstrip; four grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle, Cole and Ethan and many nieces and nephews; four sisters, Gladys Osborne and husband Don of Seely Lake, and Margart Nance of Salt Lake City, Utah; Patricia Goodwin, Gloria Mounce and Viola Mausola all of Fla.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West, Billings. Viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Smith West Chapel. Interment of his cremains will be in the Shiloh cemetery in Cedar Key, Fla., at a later date.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
