Emelia L. Whitmore
MELSTONE - Emelia Leno Whitmore of Melstone, and recently of Roundup Memorial Nursing Home, joined her husband, Carl, in heaven on Dec. 26, 1998.
Emelia was born Jan. 17, 1917, in Steele, N.D., to Dan and Emelia Bechtoldt Leno. She grew up on a farm south of Tuttle, N.D. She married Carl Whitmore on June 14, 1939, and settled on their ranch twelve miles south of Melstone.
She was an active and caring member of the Melstone community for over 50 years. She gave generously of her time and efforts to Faith Lutheran church. She was actively involved with PTA, 4-H and school activities while her children were growing up. She loved baking bread and her favorite German dishes for her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, teaching herself after she married . She will be warmly remembered by all that knew her.
Emelia was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents, Dan and Emelia Leno; two brothers, Ed and Fred Leno; three sisters, Pauline Docktor, Alvina Forno and Eva Stonehouse. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frank and Diana Ostrom of Skagway, Ala.; her son, Dan of Billings; seven grandchildren, Rand Ostrom and wife Caroline of Twin Falls, Idaho; Julie LaMay and husband Roy of Anchorage, Ala.; Janelle Maestas and husband Jim of Espanola, N.M.; Michelle Brown of Hardin; Cheryl Galbrecht and husband Jon of Columbia Heights, Minn.; Sheila Pehl and husband Greg of Thornton, Colo.; and Justin Whitmore and wife Tara of Billings. Thirteen great-grandchildren, one brother, and four sisters also survive Emelia.
As per Emelia's request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services 1p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Faith Lutheran church in Melstone.
Wier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle J. Abar
RESERVE - Myrtle J. Abar, 82, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home in Plentywood.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at the Reserve Lutheran Church. Cremation has taken place. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in Charge.

E. L. 'Bud' Allen
E. L. "Bud" Allen, 78, of Billings, went to be with the Lord Friday, Dec. 25, 1998.
The son of John Harvey Allen and Edna Allen. He was born in Fayetteville, Ohio, on Dec. 1920.
Survivors include one sister Mary Lou Barr in Ohio; three children and their spouses, John and Mayferd Allen of Billings, Steve and Diane Allen of Washington and Paula Allen of Billings; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Bud loved to fish and was a plumber for fifty years.
He married Jean McCoy May 6, 1940, and she preceded him in death Jan. 18, 1997.
"We will miss you Dad and Grandpa."
Cremation has taken place. Services are pending at Smith Downtown Chapel.

Edward Brantz
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Edward Brantz, 70, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at Westview Health Care Center.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Kane Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, with interment at the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Alma Dukart
MILES CITY - Alma Dukart, 69, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at her home in Miles City.
Prayer services will be held on Monday, Dec. 28, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, in the funeral home with interment in the Custer County cemetery.

Gorman L. Gallentine
COLUMBUS - Gorman L. Gallentine, 89, of Columbus. Died at his home, Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998. He was born Aug. 15, 1909, at Buffalo, Neb., a son of Vernon and Nora Gallentine. At the age of five he moved with his parents to Randolph, Utah, to ranch and attend school. The family then moved to Chicago, where Gorman finished high school. Later the family moved to Montana to work on the Smith Sheep Co. Ranch, where the family lived and worked for 29 years.
He married Olive Hereim. Gorman & Olive then moved to Wyoming to ranch for two years on his brother's ranch. The couple had a son during that time and then moved to Martinsdale, to work on a ranch for four years, then on to Columbus to work for Davey Motors for twelve years. Gorman then worked as a ditch rider for the Shane Ditch Co. for 23 years and at the same time was the custodian for 35 years at St. James Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife Olive of Columbus; a daughter, Wanda R. Gallentine of Billings, and a son Loren H. Gallentine of Camarillo; and one grandchild.
Gorman was preceded in death by a daughter, Ina G. Kershner.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at St. James Lutheran Church, Columbus. Interment will be in Mountainview cemetery. Smith Funeral Chapel-Columbus was in charge of arrangements.

Beth C. Green
POWELL, Wyo. - Beth C. Green, 86, died Dec. 24, 1998, at Cody Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 29, at the Union Presbyterian Church, with interment at Crown Hill cemetery. Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home is in charge.

John Leo Helling
LARAMIE, Wyo. - John Leo Helling, 87, formerly of Laramie, died suddenly at home, Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, in Douglas, Wyoming.
John was born April 21, 1911, to Jess R. and Dora E. (Birkbine) Helling in Fairbury, Neb.
John came to Laramie in 1938. He served in the Army during World War II in Africa and Italy. After the service he returned to Laramie where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement at age 62. He then worked for Spic-N-Span Laundry where he especially enjoyed visiting the college students.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #52, I.O.O.F. #7, the V.F.W. Post #2221, O.E.S. Chapter #45, Golden Age Club and the U.P. Old Timers.
He was an avid UW Cowboy fan and season ticket holder.
He moved to Douglas, Wyo., in March 1991, where he was involved at the Senior Center. He loved to garden and play cribbage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cora; a sister, Lora Wertz; and a brother Kenneth.
He is survived by his sister, Verna B. Fritz of Cheyenne, Wyo., and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Martin officiating. Inurnment will follow at Green Hill cemetery. Military rites by V.F.W. Post #2221 and the American Legion Post #14.

Ward L. Hoblit
RECLUSE, Wyo. - Ward L. Hoblit, 61, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at his home near Recluse of natural causes.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at New Life Wesleyan Church, Gillette.

Charles A. Hofferber
Charles A. Hofferber, 66, of Billings, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998.
The son of Jacob and Tillie Hofferber, Chuck was born February 28, 1932 in Billings. He graduated from Billings Central and Eastern Montana College. On Jan. 6, 1951, Chuck married Wanda Schuler in Billings.
Chuck drove bus for Rimrock Stage and Powder River until retiring in 1996. He had started driving bus in college.
He lived in Wilsall from 1976 to 1986. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife Wanda of Billings, four children, Inez Johnson and her husband Peter of Ballantine, Wayne Hofferber of Billings, Karen Harcharik and her husband Greg of Gillette, Wyo., and Holly Swanke and her husband Craig of Billings, 13 grandchildren, Joel and Jason Johnson, Misty, Heather, and Brandon Hofferber, Hilaree Fuchs, Micky Michelle, and Ashly Harcharik, and Carrie, Cole, Jolene, and Jesse Swanke, and his sister Donna Kuchera of Ben Wheeler, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jacob W. Hofferber.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, Alderson Chapel with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Arlyne Juliette Fosso Olson Janes
Arlyne Juliette Fosso Olson Janes died on Dec. 23, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
She was born on Feb. 15, 1932, in Green Lake Township, Minn., to Sigurd and Verlinda (Erickson) Fosso. She was confirmed at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Pennock, Minn. She graduated from Willmar High School. On June 2, 1951, she married Kenneth P. Olson. They resided in Willmar, Minn., in Wayzata, Minn., Spicer, Minn., New London, Minn., and Billings. Kenny died on Nov. 28, 1977.
On Aug. 25, 1981, she married Robert Janes, who died on March 24, 1987. She worked as a telephone operator in Willmar and Billings.
She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (Rick) Woltjer of Pennock; two sons, Lyle Olson and Eric Olson of Billings; two brothers, Virgil and Jeanne Fosso of Eugene, Ore., and Spicer, Minn., Dean (Helen) Fosso of Pennock; four grandchildren, Chris (Sunshine) Woltjer, Paul Woltjer, Julie Woltjer and Jeremy Olson; two great-grandchildren, Damian and Morgan Woltjer; and other relatives.
Memorial services will be held in Billings at the Faith Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. In Willmar, funeral services will be held at the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association or Deaconess Hospital I.C.U., Alice Fortin Center.

Kenneth H. Johnson
CLYDE PARK - Kenneth H. Johnson, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Shields Valley United Methodist Church in Clyde Park. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home is in charge.

Edward Needens
ROUNDUP - Ed Needens, 82, long time resident of Roundup, passed away at the Roundup Memorial Nursing Home on Dec. 26, 1998. He was born to Molly Miller and Jacob Needens Aug. 12, 1916 in Huntley.
He served his country in World War II. After the war he worked for various ranches, breaking and training horses. He received his education in Sheridan, Wyo., for many years.
He is survived by three sisters and four brothers, Hilda Anderson of Sheridan, Wyo.; Elsie Slusher of George, Wash.; Helen Lind of Quincy, Wash.; Bill Needens of Buffalo, Wyo.; Walt Needens of Grand Junction, Colo., Ivan Needens of George, Wash.; and George Needens of Dillon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation 5-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at the Wier Funeral Chapel in Roundup. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at the Lavina City cemetery. Wier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Eileen Cecil Swanz Rader
SPOKANE, Wash. - Eileen Cecil Swanz Rader, 81, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at Deaconess Medical Center.
A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Creel Funeral Chapel in Lewistown, Mont. Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hobson, Mont., with interment at Utica cemetery. Creel Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge.

William Albert (Bill) Sibbit
William Albert (Bill) Sibbit, 68, of Billings passed away on Dec. 25, 1998, at Western Manor Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Bill was born July 14, 1930, on the family ranch northwest of Reedpoint, the son of Arthur and Daisy (Daniel) Sibbit. He attended school at White Beaver school and graduated from Reedpoint High.
Bill married Nardene "Corky" Marvin on May 30, 1951, in Helena. Soon after their marriage they moved to Billings and started a family. Throughout his career, he worked for various automotive dealers and owned his own service stations. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, working on cars, his family, children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Corky, April of '85, his parents, and his older brother Marion.
He is survived by an older brother, Lloyd (Maxine) Sibbit of Billings; three daughters, Vicki (Dave) Bierwiler of Medford, Ore., Glenna Staebler and fiancee, Jeff Brent, Tammy (Jim) Eckenroad, all of Billings; seven grandchildren, a great granddaughter and three nieces.
"We love you Dad and we will all miss you!"
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Smith Downtown Chapel.
Memorial may be made to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.
