Mark Orland Marty
Mark Orland Marty, 41 years of age, and a resident of Helena, died of an apparent heart attack at Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mark was born April 25, 1957, at Havre, to Gary and Mary (Darlington) Marty. Mark attended school in Havre graduating in 1975. He was active in band, football, and Demolay while attending school. Mark attended Montana State University at Bozeman, graduating in 1980. While attending college, he participated in the R.O.T.C. program and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. Following college graduation, he joined the Army Corp. of Engineers.
Mark married the former Claire Lund Sept. 3, 1983 at Plentywood. The couple lived in Tacoma, Wash. and then moved to Lewiston, Idaho. After his discharge, he continued to work for the Army Corp. of Engineers at Lewiston, Idaho and Walla Walla, Wash. Mark remained active in the Army Reserves.
Mark moved to Helena in 1990 and worked for the State of Montana. At the time of his death, he was employed by Hydrometrics Inc. in East Helena.
Mark was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, coached baseball and helped with the Lions Swim Team. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harley Darlington and paternal grandfather Lloyd Marty.
Survivors include his wife Claire Marty of Helena; sons: Brian, Jeffrey, and Ross Marty of Helena; parents, Gary and Mary Marty of Havre: sister Tracy Reamy of Grand Forks, N.D.; grandmothers: Alma Darlington and Mickey Marty both of Big Sandy. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing hours will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Retz Funeral Home in Helena. A Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday Dec. 8, 1998, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to the Marty Boys Education Fund at D.A. Davidson, Box 1692, Helena, MT 59624 or the charity of the donors choice.

Gerald Wayne Mulholland
CODY, Wyo. - Gerald Wayne Mulholland, 74, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Ballard Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Riverside cemetery. Ballard Funeral Home is in charge.

Hannah B. Hoskin Nesset
RED LODGE - Hannah B. Hoskin Nesset, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Cedar Wood Villa in Red Lodge, where she has lived for the last four years. Hannah was born in Gatzke, Minn., to Charley and Anne Haugen Olufson on Feb. 23, 1907. She weighed in at a mighty two pounds! She slept in a shoe box in the warming oven on the wood stove. She attended grammar school in Gatzke and "farmed out" during her high school years in Middle River.
Hannah came to Montana to visit friends, where she met and married Clarence A. Hoskin in Red Lodge, March 11, 1938. They lived at Bridger, then Powell, Wyo., for seven years, returning to Bridger to raise garden produce. Hannah and Clarence and their two sons sold the produce door to door in Bearcreek and Red Lodge. Their main product was dry land watermelons. When Clarence passed away Sept. 14, 1949, Hannah took her two sons, Jim and Charlie home to Minnesota, where they lived with her brother Oscar for two years.
Later returning to Montana, they worked together at whatever they could, to stay here.
When the boys were married , Hannah went back to Minnesota, where she met and married Melvin Nesset in Bemidji, on June 15, 1960. They lived on his farm at Blackduck, until their home burned, at which time they bought a new home in Kelliher. Melvin passed away during the summer of 1987. Hannah came to Bridger in July, 1990, to be near her family again and then to Cedar Wood Villa in Sept. 1994.
Hannah is survived by her two sons: Jim and Phyllis Hoskin of Bridger and Charles and Anne Hoskin of Blackfoot Idaho; grandchildren: David and Sue Thomas, Sara and Chelsie of Lewistown. Jim and Sherry Hoskin, Cullen and Codi of Bridger. Wade Hoskin and fiance Kellie Wegner of Bridger. Cory and Joan Nelson, Kelly and Erica or Wausau, Wis. John Hoskin and fiance Chyrl of Tucson, Ariz. She leaves, one sister-in-law, Mildred Olufson of Gatzke, Minn., and three nephews; Myron, Charles and wife Jane, and Juell Olufson all of Minnesota. She is also survived by Clarence's son Floyd and Melvin's children, Marion, Carol, Dean, and Donna and their families.
Hannah was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers John and Oscar and one sister-in-law, Nettie,
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tues. Dec. 8, at Olcott Funeral Chapel 201 N. Broadway Avenue in Red Lodge with interment at Bridger cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Clarks Fork Valley Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 94, Bridger, MT. or a charity of one's choice. Visitation day of service only.

Lois Scott Noyes
HOT SPRINGS - Lois Scott Noyes, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson.
Services will be announced by Grogan Funeral Home, Polson.

Tony Lee Romero
MANDERSON, Wyo. - Tony Lee Romero, 31, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998.
Prayer service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Mount Calvary Assembly of God Church. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the church. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens cemetery. Veile Mortuary is in charge.

George L. Ruff
George L. Ruff, 65, of Billings passed away Friday evening, Dec. 4, 1998, at the Aspen Meadow Care Center following a long illness.
He was born August 8, 1933, in Lovell, Wyo., the son of George and Sara (Foote) Ruff. He was raised in Kane, Wyo. At age 16, his family moved to Roberts, and then to Joliet where he graduated from high school in 1951. Following graduation he worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. He entered the U.S. Air Force April 22, 1955 and served until June 30, 1962. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller in Great Falls before moving to Billings, where he began working for Pacific Hide and Fur where he worked for 23 years, retiring in 1996 due to ill health.
He married Amelia "Amy" Zielke, May 25, 1973 in Cody, Wyo.
George enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and painting pictures.
Survivors include his wife Amy of Billings; his mother Sara Ruff of Billings; brother, Bill (Jeanne) Ruff of Billings and sisters Peggy (Keith) Springer of Spokane, Wash. and Kathy Ruff of Moraga, Calif.; children Richard (Kate) Karp, and their children: Rick, Kari, and Kelle of Dallas, Texas; David Zielke and children: Libby and Lindsay of Bothel, Wash.; Connie Davis and children: Racheal, Seth, Ezra, Isac, Joshua, Rebecca, Ethan and grandchildren: C.J. and Cord; Randy (Kris) Zielke and their children Zack, Kimberly, Jake and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith West Chapel, 302 34th St. West. Cremation has taken place. Memorials to the American Cancer Society; 16 N. 26th; Billings, MT 59101.

Clara F. Searcy
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Clara F. Searcy, 55, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Westview Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the Willow Grove cemetery in Buffalo. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Kristine Mysse Solberg
BIG TIMBER -Kristine Mysse Solberg, 82, passed away Dec. 4, 1998, at the Livingston Memorial Hospital after a courageous baffle with cancer. She was born May 12, 1916 at her parents, Carl & Randy Mysse's ranch south of Reed Point. Kristine attended school in Reed Point and graduated in 1934. After graduation she worked at the Esp ranch on Deer Creek and several years at the H.P. Franklin Ranch at Melville. She graduated from the Anderson Beauty School in Billings in 1939 and the same year she opened and operated a beauty shop in Big Timber. On Feb. 9, 1942 she married Ole Solberg in Billings and when he returned from the service they owned and operated their ranch northeast of Big Timber on the Yellowstone River until Ole's death in 1969. Kristine sold the ranch the same year and moved into Big Timber where she worked at the Gust Store and cared for her parents. Kristine will best be remembered for her beautiful wedding cakes and Kransa Kagas; her many pieces of rose mauling and her never ending favors to her friends and family. I wonder who will replace her taxi service? She was member of the Big Timber Lutheran Church, Bridger Creek Club, Wiltgrow Garden Club and the Sons of Norway.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ella Hillard and 3 brothers: Donald, Jack and Robert Mysse. Survivors are 3 sisters: Agnes Vink of Emigrant; Dorothy Langhus of Big Timber; and Helen Osen of Livingston; three sister-in-laws: Helen Mysse of Harlowton; Sally Severin of Absorakee; and Annie Solberg of Big Timber. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Big Timber Lutheran Church. At her request cremation was her final wish with her cremains to be laid to rest by her love - her husband Ole. Lowry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Logan T. Wilson
RED LODGE - Logan T. Wilson, 94, of Red Lodge, formerly of Fairbury, Ill., died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, in Cedar Wood Villa in Red Lodge.
Logan was born March 25, 1904 in Lincoln, Neb., a son of William and Lillian Wilson. At an early age, the family moved to Saskatchewan, Canada where they farmed south of Dundurn. Logan graduated from the University of Saskatchewan and later obtained a Ph.D. in animal nutrition at the University of Wisconsin. Logan married Nevah Westfall in 1933 in Plainsboro, N.J., where he was employed at a large dairy operation.
Logan was very active in community affairs in Fairbury, Ill., where he and his wife resided for many years. He loved music and was in the Methodist Church choir. He was also an active Rotarian, serving as secretary treasurer, and was awarded the Paul Harris medal by his club. He also belonged to the International Club and was on the board of the Echoes Museum, both in Fairbury. Due to his farm roots, Logan was an avid gardener all his life and enjoyed the outdoors and physical activity.
Logan and his wife moved to Red Lodge in 1996 to be near their son Bill and his family. Logan became a member of Red Lodge Community Church and attended services regularly. Logan enjoyed a long and healthy life extending from the day of the horse to the space age.
Logan was preceded in death by his wife Nevah; two brothers, William J. Wilson and Robert Wilson. Survivors include a brother, Paul Wilson of Ontario, Canada; Two sons and their wives: Bill and Elsie Wilson of Red Lodge and George and Catherine Wilson of Ogunquit, Maine; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the Red Lodge Community Church. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be in the Red Lodge cemetery. Olcott Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Beartooth Hospital and Health Center; Box 590; Red Lodge, MT 59068.

Violet 'Vi' Alice Caudill
SALEM, Ore. - Violet "Vi" Alice Caudill, age 85, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998 in Salem. She was born July 16, 1913, in Herreid, S.D.
In 1931 Violet married Ollie C. Caudill. Violet lived in Miles City and Bremerton, Wash. during WWII. She had lived in Billings for over 30 years while retiring as a hostess at Hilands Golf Club. In 1978, she moved to Salem, Ore.
Violet enjoyed crocheting, baking cookies, playing cards and entertaining friends and family at holiday get-togethers.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her sons: Ollie C. Caudill, Jr., and Bobby E. Caudill both of Salem, Ore.; a daughter, Carol J. Ferron, of Soio, Ore.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also survived is her sister, Hilda, of Salem, Ore.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at Vigil T. Golden Chapel Salem. Donations in her memory may be made to Mother Oak's Child; 1055 Edgewater, Salem, OR 97304.

Dorothy Marie Chaney
Dorothy Marie Chaney, 74, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Thursday evening, Dec. 3, 1998, at her home in Billings after a year long battle with leukemia.
She was the first of four daughters born to Elmer and Mabel Dixon Ryker near the small village of Redstar, Ark. in the Ozark Mountains on Dec. 6, 1923. She lived there with her family until 1931 when they moved West during the Great Depression.
She spent her early years in a logging camp northwest of Whitefish going to a one room country school. The family moved to Kalispell, in March of 1936 where she continued her schooling, graduating from Flathead County High School with the class of 1942.
After graduation, the family moved to Vancouver, Wash., where she worked for Kaiser Shipbuilding during WWII. It was there she met her future husband, a navy man, Harry E. Chaney.
They were married in Batavia, Ohio on July 18, 1946. To this union their only child was born, a daughter, Pamela Ruth Chaney (Wong). The family returned to Kalispell in 1948.
Dorothy spent the next 30 years of her life being a homemaker and mother. In 1976 she moved with her husband to Hardin and returned to work as a legal secretary for the Kronmiller/Seykora Law Firm and later worked for several years as a secretary for the Big Horn County Superintendent of Schools. After the untimely death of her husband in 1978, she moved to Billings to be closer to her family. She retired in 1983.
Let it be said of this woman that she loved her Lord and Saviour above all else in this world, followed by love for her family and her fellow man. If she could be of assistance or help to anyone she would go out of her way to do so. She had a great empathy for the poor, the suffering and less fortunate. She was always there to help with a word of advise or encouragement. She was a universal mother and her generosity was enormous. A born homemaker, she loved to clean, cook, sew and can. She loved flower gardening. She traveled throughout the United States with her husband, always returning to her favorite place on earth, Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park. She had a marvelous way with words and had written numerous poems and stories, having copyrighted a collection of poetry entitled "Daughter of the Unicorn." She was working on a book at the time of her death about her early life in the logging camps of Montana, but she was unable to finish it.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father Elmer in 1971, by her beloved husband Harry in 1978, and by her mother Mabel in 1994.
Dorothy leaves to mourn her a beloved daughter, Pamela Ruth Chaney Wong, three beloved grandchildren; William Bing Wong Jr. and his wife Erin, Christopher Barry Wong and Wendy Noelle Wong; two great-grandchildren: Christian Michael Wong and Alysia Marie Jensen. She also leaves three sisters: Ruth Lovette of Vancouver, Wash., Edythe Hill and Ardath Lee Gendreau both of Kalispell. Also numerous honorary great-grandchildren; including Kalea Dawn Kiesser, Jake Adams, Marissa Nicole Jensen all of Billings and Kayla Joyce and Jessica Marie Miller of Fromberg. She leaves behind two exceptional and loyal friends, Kathleen Nelson of Red Lodge, and Vic McMillan of Billings.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at The Chapel of Hope Assembly of God Church in Lockwood.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be made to The Rescue Mission or The Salvation Army. Arrangements by Cremation or Funeral Gallery, Cremation Society of Montana.

Maurice L. Crabtree
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS - Maurice L. Crabtree, 71, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Benefis East in Great Falls.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Interment will be at the Mayn cemetery. Twichel Funeral Home is in charge.

Edwin Heit
ABSAROKEE - Edwin Heit, 73, of Absarokee passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at St. Vincent Hospital after a battle with cancer.
Ed was born March 11, 1925, to Fred and Katherine Heit of Hysham. Ed went to school in Rosebud Schools. He farmed in Forsyth before joining the army in 1943. He served in WWII in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was honored with two purple hearts.
He married Bernice Hawley in 1947. She preceded in death in 1960. Ed married Lois Shearer in Red Lodge in 1961. Ed spent his life working as a mechanic at Seitz Machinery, Lane Construction, Moaut Mine, Davey Motors and Mansville Corp. He retired in 1984 due to a stroke.
Ed always enjoyed going fishing and going on long rides with his grandchildren. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife Lois, son Eddie of Red Lodge, daughters: Charlene (Jack) Hoffman, and Joy Bossert and Pat; brothers: Ted(Marilyn) and John (Sandi); sister-in-laws: Carol and Delores; grandchildren: Shawn (Michelle) Bossert, Craig Bossert, Kevin Ostrum, Misty Ostrum, April Hoffman and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sister: Christine, Lydia, Freda; brothers: Fred and Bill.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Community Congregational Church in Absarokee. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
We'll miss you Grandpa Ed.
