Esther U. Engbrecht
TALENT, Ore. - Esther Undine Engbrecht, 87, formerly of Shepherd, Mont., died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the United Methodist Church in Talent with graveside services in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. Memory Gardens Mortuary of Medford is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Duane Frisk
LIVINGSTON - Gerald "Jerry" Duane Frisk, 65, of Livingston, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held this summer in Livingston. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge.

Sidney Mary Gonzales
LOVELL, Wyo. - Sidney Mary Gonzales, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at the North Big Horn Hospital.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, and 9-10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Powell. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with interment in Crown Hill cemetery. Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home of Powell is in charge.

Vern P. Bender
STOCKTON, Calif. - Vern P. Bender, 54, of Stockton, formerly of Billings, Mont., died Saturday, March 13, in a hospital. Mr. Bender was born in North Dakota and lived in Stockton for 17 years.
Survivors: wife, Vangie Bender of Stockton; children, Troy Bender and Todd Bender, both of North Dakota, and Kevin Scott Bender and Jodi Bender, both of Stockton; stepchildren, Debra Caldwell and Dan Ottenbacher, both of Oregon; siblings, Phillis Birkes of Oregon, Irene Schantz, Evelyn Phelps, Stella Eisenbarth, and Nettie Brown, all of North Dakota, Dolores Scott of Forsyth, Mont., Kenneth Bender and Clarence Bender, both of Billings, and Gary Bender of New Ulm, Minn.; and two step-grandchildren.
Services were March 18 at the Shortline Chapel.

Bea M. Bentzen
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Bea M. Bentzen, 79, of Sheridan, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings, Mont.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, at the First Baptist Church. Champion Funeral Home is in charge.

Harriette Brown
BUFFALO, Wyo. - Harriette Brown, 78, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at the Amie Holt Care Center.
Visitation will be 1-10 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, and 8-10 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, at the Adams Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with interment at 3 p.m. in the Black Hills National cemetery in Sturgis, S.D.

Hermoyn Eckroth
Longtime Billings resident Hermoyn Eckroth passed away on March 13, 1999, at the age of 98. She was born in Fargo, N.D., on Oct. 2, 1900.
Hermoyn attended school in Fargo and graduated from high school in Minneapolis. She went to work for the Northern Pacific Railway in St. Paul, Minn., in 1916 at the age of 16. The rules of the company stated that a worker must be 18 years of age before working for them but with the help of a friend this obstacle was easily surmounted by Hermoyn as were many more in her long and eventful life.
She seemed to have worked at almost every town that the railroad had a station in, from St. Paul to Billings, arriving here in the 1920s.
Hermoyn married Michael Eckroth, an employee of Northern Pacific. Together they also built houses and duplexes in the city. After her husband's death in 1941 she continued operating the construction company until moving to her home on Custer in the early 1960s.
She was an accomplished musician, playing both piano and organ. She took pride in always being well-dressed and making a good impression when appearing in public.
Although she did not have children of her own she loved to help those that were disadvantaged and in need of assistance.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, March 24, at 3 p.m.

Arnold N. Engen
Arnold N. "Papa" Engren, 89, of Billings, passed away Monday, March 22, 1999, at his home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1910, in Wahpeton, N. D., the son of Nels and Minnie (Radkstad) Engen. He was raised in North Dakota and on Aug. 27, 1932, he married Evelyn Schmidt They moved to Billings in 1955.
Arnold worked for the Billings Rendering Co. until retiring in the early '70s
He enjoyed hunting with his son and grandsons and watching his grandchildren play baseball. His favorite thing was to spend quality time with his family.
He was a member of the Billings Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Evelyn of Billings; his son, Don of Billings; grandchildren: Kurt Engen, wife, Marsha and their son, Dexter of Billings; Kevin Engen and wife, Kris of Denver, Colo.; and Kathy and son, Mike of Billings; his brother, Roy Engen of Missoula; and two sisters, Bernice Hoverman and Frances Olson of Wahpeton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Marlys.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 1999, at Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. W. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Clydehurst Christian Ranch, 802 N. 27th, Billings, MT 59101.

James Joseph Friend
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - James Joseph Friend, 60, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at his home after a short illness.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at Holy Name Catholic Church with interment at a later date after cremation.

W. K. 'Kenny' Good Sr.
COLUMBUS - W. K. "Kenny" Good Sr., age 90, of Columbus, formerly of Billings, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Beartooth Manor in Columbus where he and his wife had been residents the past three years.
Kenny was born Feb. 21, 1909, at Bozeman, the son of Hezikia and Emma (Brandenberg) Good. He moved with his family to Townsend where he attended grade school and graduated from Broadwater County High School. He graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in business administration in 1931.
Kenny married Jamesina "Jimmie" Worthingham in 1933. After their marriage he worked for the Bozeman Production Credit Association. In 1937 they moved to Billings where Kenny worked as field auditor for the Montana State Income Tax Department. In 1941 he received his Certified Public Accountant certificate and went into public practice in December, 1942. He worked as a partner in Rowland, Thomas and Co. In 1956 Kenny operated under his own name until Jan. 1, 1968, when the partnership of Roush, Good, Nevin and Murray was formed. He retired from public practice in 1970. After retirement Kenny continued to work as an accountant in several different areas.
Kenny and Jimmie enjoyed traveling in their motor home for many years. They were some of the first residents to live at West Park Village where they were for 10 years.
Kenny was a member of the First United Methodist Church; Billings Lodge No. 113 A.F. & A.M.; Montana Society of CPA's and American Institute of CPA's.
Survivors include his wife, Jimmie of Columbus; a son, William K. Good Jr. and wife, Sally of Helena; daughter, Barbara Zebell and husband, Leonard of Columbus; sister, Emily Honeycutt and husband, George of Sundance, Wyo.; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one step-grandson, three step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great grandson. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, LeRoy; and a sister, Mary Long.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at Smith's West Chapel, 304 34th St. W.
Memorials may be made to the Beartooth Manor, P.O. Box 789, Columbus, Mont. 59019.

Cedric L. Hugs Jr.
HARDIN - Cedric Leo Hugs Jr., 16, of Hardin, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, of injuries sustained in a one-car accident west of Hardin.
"Big Boy" was born Nov. 10, 1982, in Sheridan, Wyo., a son of Cedric Hugs Sr. and Faith Stone. He grew up in the Wyola and Lodge Grass areas, later attended Reedpoint High School, and was currently a sophomore at Hardin High School. He participated in football, basketball and wrestling.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on cars.
Big Boy was a member of the Wyola Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church, Big Lodge Clan and a child of the Greasy Mouth Clan.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Cedric and Mardi Hugs Sr. of Greycliff; his mother and stepfather, Faith and Gary Kemp of Hardin; two brothers, Terrill Hugs of Greycliff and Ian Hugs of Crow Agency; one sister, Jordan Hugs of Hardin; his grandparents, Carol Joy of Hardin, Oliver Hugs of St. Xavier, Charles and Janice Wilson of Wyola, Harold and Marina Stone of Wyola; his great-grandmother, Winona Plenty Hoops of Lodge Grass; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in the Wyola Rose of Sharon Church. Interment will follow in the Black Hawk Family cemetery near Wyola. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Evelyn Kelly
MILES CITY - Evelyn Kelly, 80, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care.
A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery.

Elizabeth Lambert
BUFFALO, Wyo. - Elizabeth Lambert, 95, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at the Johnson County Health Care Center.
Visitation will be 1-10 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, and 8-10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at the Adams Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with interment in the Highland cemetery in Casper.

Clarence 'C.T.' Leischnner
Clarence "C.T." Leischner, 86 of Billings, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at his home.
He was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Plevna, the second son of nine children born to John and Bertha Leischner. He worked on the family homestead and went to school in Plevna. He played basketball on the Plevna boys team and graduated high school in 1932. C.T. moved to Billings and worked for Carter Oil. He married Bernice Balkwill in Hardin, Sept. 19, 1940. Clarence continued working while going to school earning his Master Plumbing License. In 1948 he started his own business, Magic City Plumbing & Heating.
He was a past member of Yellowstone Kiwanis and sang with the Kiwanis Men's Quartet. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, which always included his children.
In 1954 he purchased 90 acres on Pryor Creek. Over the years, almost everyone who was touched by Dad's influence was involved with "the ranch." He was always willing to take any or all of the kids whenever they wanted to go. The ranch grew and as time went on, Dad gradually did less plumbing and more farming. He slowly turned the plumbing business over to his son-in-law, Gary Geffre, and grandson, Kevin. He drove the 60-mile round trip almost every day, even the last day of his life.
Daddy, you touched so many people with your quick humor and generous heart, we will all miss you so much. Until we meet again, love, your family.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Billings; four children, Bill Leischher of Yuma, Ariz., Barbara Habovstak and her husband, Tony of Bountiful, Utah, Robyn Geffre of Billings, and Sandi Morris and her husband, Tom of Butte; 13 grandchildren, Jay, Jeff, Kelly, Camey, Steve, Clarence, Diana, Kevin, Kyle, Kory, Melissa, Ryan, and Erin; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Ted of Checkerboard, and Elmer and his wife, Vivian of Billings; three sisters, Ida Fried of Billings, Bernice Barney of Yakima, Wash., and Esther Gruell and her husband, Max of Lady Lake, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Alma Leischner of Billings and Jean Leischner of Miles City; and a brother-in-law, Herb Bechtold of Midland, Wis.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.

James K. 'Moe' Martini
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - James K. "Moe" Martini, 54, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at the First Christian Church with interment in the Sheridan Elks cemetery. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Bob L. Baker
GLENDIVE - Bob L Baker, 73, long time resident of Glendive passed away on Friday, March 19, 1999, at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 23, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glendive with Pastor Stephen Holmes officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Dawson County cemetery in Glendive. Silvenale--Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Bob was born on Jan. 21, 1926, in Larned, Kansas. After a childhood in Sunnyside, Wash., he joined the Marines. He served his nation proudly during World War II. After the service, he went to work in the oilfields of eastern Montana, eventually forming Western Oil Well Service Company with two partners. He was married on August 23, l 953, to Hilde. He retired as president of Western Oil Well Service in 1986. Since his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his many friends. He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife, Hilde, of Glendive; son, Robert Baker and his wife Annette of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Susan Morasko and her husband Robert of Ely, Nev.; brother, Stanley G. Baker of Greeley, Colo.; four grandsons, Robert R. Baker, Bryan E. Baker, Blair P. Baker and Michael Morasko; two great-grandchildren, Mark and Marissa Baker of Oklahoma.
Bob was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
