FITZGERALD
CLEMMONS -- The Rev. James Alton Fitzgerald, 73, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Lincoln County to James B. and Hattie Chaffin Fitzgerald. Rev. Fitzgerald was retired from the ministry after 52 years of service. He pastored several area churches including Mount Olivet United Methodist Church for 13 years and was presently interim pastor at Arcadia United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Laurie Davidson Fitzgerald of the home; four sons, Christopher A. Fitzgerald of Wilkesboro, Reuben B. Fitzgerald of Charlotte, Andrew N. Fitzgerald and wife Milissa of Winston-Salem and Joseph B. Fitzgerald of Wilmington; a daughter, Jane F. Suther and husband Edward of Charlotte; a brother, Bishop A. Ernest Fitzgerald and wife Frances of Winston-Salem; a sister, Oneta F. Smith of Winston-Salem; and four grandchildren, Brad and Allison Suther and Michael and Allen Fitzgerald. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dan Hester and the Rev. G. Thomas Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. HANES
Mr. David Jonathan Hanes, 86, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Silas Creek Manor. He was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Forsyth County to Robah Eugene and Effie Louella Vanhoy Hanes. Mr. Hanes was retired from Hanes Knitwear after 34 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Burkhead United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Doris Suber Hanes; his parents; and two sisters, Mary Hanes Sparrow and Margaret Hanes Sparks. Surviving are two daughters, Camilla (Ted) Porter and Marilyn (Jack) Miller both of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Allison (Brad) Thompson, Alfred T. Porter III, Amanda Porter, Courtney Miller and Whitney Miller; two great-grandsons, David and Dalton Thompson; and two sisters, Sudie (Robert) Clayton and Jacque (Glenn) Joyce; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Robert M. Smith Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Burkhead United Methodist Church, 5250 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.

JENNINGS
Mrs. Christine Cox Jennings, 78, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 1, 2000, at the Brian Care Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Jennings was born March 29, 1922, in Engelhard, Hyde County, to the late Roy Starr and Lucy Williams Cox. She attended Chowan College and worked at Camp Davis during World War II. After that she moved to Durham, where she started a public stenographer business and was a secretary for the Durham Jaycees. She and her husband, Kenneth Jennings, met and were married there in 1947 and moved to Winston-Salem in 1958. She was a homemaker and worked in her husband's architectural firm in Reynolda Village as secretary and bookkeeper for 14 years. During that time she established and operated the Village Soda Shop. She is survived by her devoted husband of Winston-Salem; a son, K.B. "Ken" Jennings Jr. and wife Cindy of Winston-Salem; and two daughters, Cindy Jennings and husband Bob Livingstone of Blacksburg, Va., and Amy Jennings and husband Bob Briggs and their children, Elizabeth, Sammy and Emily Briggs of Spokane, Wash. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Centenary United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Roland T. Barnhardt and the Rev. B. Edward Ritter. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church in her name.

KIRKMAN
Mr. Albert Reece Kirkman, 85, of Lewisville died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Claire Bridge of Winston-Salem. He was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Liberty to Grady R. and Ila Reece Kirkman. Mr. Kirkman was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church, where he had served as treasurer and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Enterprise Masonic Lodge No. 752 and was a 32nd degree mason. He had been a member of the Winston-Salem Jaycees and the Lewisville Civic Club, where he was instrumental in obtaining Lewisville's first fire truck. He has also served on the Lewisville School Board and was president of the P.T.A. Mr. Kirkman loved the out of doors and was an avid golfer. He was a charter member of Tanglewood Golf Course and after he was unable to play golf was a ranger at the golf course. For 12 years he was office manager for American Oil Co. He retired from L.A. Reynolds Paving Co. after 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Celeste Brewer Kirkman of the home; two sons, Reece Kirkman and wife Becky of Advance and Steve Kirkman and wife, Anne of Lewisville; two daughters, Betsy Cooksey and husband, Dick of Spartanburg, S.C., and Beverly Davis and husband, Dean of Lewisville; five grandchildren, Mark Kirkman and wife Renee of Advance, Kent Kirkman and wife Lisa of Clemmons, Eric Kirkman of Lewisville, Ashley Kirkman of Lewisville and Jason Davis of Wilmington; three great-grandchildren, Madison Kirkman, Avery Kirkman and Celeste Kirkman; a brother, Henry M. Kirkman and wife, Billie of Winston-Salem; a sister, Eleanor Livengood of Davidson County; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forsyth Memorial Park, by the Rev. Donald W. Routh. LIIPFERT
CHEVY CHASE, Md. -- Eugene T. Liipfert, a longtime Washington transportation attorney whose name is associated with one of the capital's most prestigious law firms, passed away Monday, Oct. 30. Eugene Transou Liipfert was born in Winston-Salem April 24, 1919. In 1939, he received an A.B. degree in Political Science and Economics from Davidson College; in 1941, he received an MA in History from Vanderbilt University; and in 1948, he graduated from Harvard Law School. During World War II, Mr. Liipfert served as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps from 1942 to 1946. He was a navigator with the Army Air Corps Air Transport Command. He was married to the former Ann Turney, who passed away in 1982. In 1984, he married the former Dixie Friedrichs King. For many years, Mr. Liipfert was one of the leading practitioners of transportation law in Washington, representing a number of motor carriers, railroads and shippers. Following graduation from law school, he joined the law firm Turney & Turney, but left in 1958 to serve as vice-president and general counsel of Consolidated Freightways, based in Menlo Park, Calif., then the nation's largest trucking company. In 1961, he returned to Washington to engage in private-practice law. In 1964, he joined the law firm which was renamed Verner, Liipfert & Bernhard. He practiced with that firm until his retirement in December 1985. He played a major role in the early growth of the firm, which today is named Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand. Mr. Liipfert served as a national officer of the Association of Transportation Practitioners, was a member of the Public Utility Council of the American Bar Association and the Transportation Lawyers Association and a Fellow of the American Bar Association. Mr. Liipfert also owned Rocky Hill Farm in Woodsboro, Md., Frederick County. He is survived by his wife, Dixie Liipfert; his two sons, John T. Liipfert and Christian E. Liipfert; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three stepdaughters; and three stepsons. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at Christ Episcopal Church, 4001 Franklin St., Kensington, Md. LINDSEY
Mr. Robert David Lindsey "Bobby" of Monroe passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Carolina Memorial Hospital in Charlotte. He was born in Winston-Salem Sept. 16, 1966, to the late Robert Jamison and Josephine Leak. He was a graduate of Parkland High School and a member of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Clare Moser Lindsey of the home; three stepsons, Darius, Christopher and Demarcus Ervin, all of Monroe; a stepdaughter, Tamara Moser of Monroe; three brothers, Carnell Leak (Pauline), Noah Lindsey (Alice) both of Winston-Salem and Lee Vance Lindsey Jr. (Corazon) of the Philippines; two sisters, Gayle R. Hymes (Elder Harold) and Helen Lindsey of Norcross, Ga.; three uncles, Robert Leak (Jackie), the Rev. Charles W. Leak and Luther Noah Leak (Marie), all of Winston-Salem; two aunts, Mrs. Essie Taylor of Polkton and Mrs. Annie Mae Medley of Winston-Salem; mother-in-law and father-in-law John and Willie Mae Moser of Charlotte; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many treasured friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles W. Leak officiating. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at noon Friday for viewing an hour before the services. ALEXANDER FUNERAL HOME of Charlotte is in charge of services.

McBRIDE
Mr. Paul Kiger McBride, 70, of Sebring, Fla., and Jefferson died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, in Sebring, Fla. He was born in Forsyth County Dec. 19, 1929, to William Walter and Nancy Jane Money McBride. He was of the Moravian faith. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. A member of West Bend Masonic Lodge 434, he was a master mason in 1967. Mr. McBride retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1984 with 37 1/2 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, W.D. "Mickey" McBride. On March 15, 1951, he was married to Peggy Jane Binkley McBride who survives of the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Paula Dickinson of Snellville, Ga.; a son, Keith H. McBride of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Drew, Hannah, Logan Dickinson; four sisters, Betty Groce of Huntsville, Nancy Warner of Winston-Salem, Karlene Cope of Mocksville, Francis Harris of Elkin, and a brother, Thomas Homer McBride of Pfafftown. A graveside service with masonic rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel.

McGEE
NEWTON -- Clyde Oliver McGee, 88, of 403 N. Spring Ave. in Newton died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at the Hospice Home. Born July 10, 1912, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Oliver Duffy and Hattie Elizabeth Witherspoon McGee. He was a retired supervisor with Century Furniture in Hickory. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton, where he was a former deacon, Sunday school teacher and an usher. He was a member of the Newton Lions Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine McGee Houser, and two brothers, Joe McGee and Lee McGee. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Edna Robinson McGee of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" McGee Gray of Asheboro; a son and daughter-in-law, John Oliver and Barbara V. McGee of Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane McGee and John B. Byrd of Winston-Salem; grandsons John Eric Gray of Level Cross, Christopher Robinson Gray of Blacksburg, Va., John Patrick McGee of Greenville, Martin Vaughn McGee of Newton, Parks Robinson Byrd of Raleigh and Raleigh Craig Byrd of Clearwater, Fla.; great-granddaughter, Julia Ann Louhoff of Blacksburg, Va. and Alexandra Elizabeth Gray of Blacksburg, Va.; brothers, Noah McGee of Conover and Mervin McGee of Newton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Newton. The Rev. David Gray and the Rev. Brant Hoots will officiate. McQUEEN
Mrs. Sally Lindsay McQueen, 93, a resident of the Pines at Davidson Retirement Home, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at her daughter's home in Winston-Salem. Born Sally Fiske Lindsay in Saginaw, Mich., on Sept. 4, 1907, to Edward and Mary McLean Lindsay, she grew up in Decatur, Ga. She attended Agnes Scott College and the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Va. Her commitment to service in the church has been lifelong. She had been a Christian educator, writer, church-school teacher, choir member, elder and editor. She served as an officer of the Presbyterian Church on a local, state, national and international level. She has held such positions as chairman of the Presbyterian General Assembly Women's Advisory Committee (1943-1944) and in 1949 became the first woman to serve on the General Assembly's Board of Christian Education. She was also the first woman president of the Presbyterian Grandfather Home for Children in 1978. Mrs. McQueen has been a true servant of the church and has given of herself in every aspect of church life. Her influence and dedication, especially concerning the role of women in the church, has paved the way for generations to come. Her most recent and personally satisfying accomplishment was her ministry on the Resettlement Committee at the First Presbyterian Church of Statesville. In 1980, she became the chairman of the Refugee Resettlement Committee and was vital in bringing 26 Cambodian refugees from Southeast Asia to a safer and happier life in Statesville. Her involvement, love and devotion in every aspect of their lives gave them hope and opportunities for a better life. Sally McQueen was a woman of vision who had a vital sense of God's calling. She was a true servant of the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John W. McQueen. Surviving are a daughter, Kim Lindsay Osborne of Winston-Salem; and two grandsons, Nicholas Lindsay Osborne and Nathaniel Lee Osborne. A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at the First Presbyterian Church in Statesville. Mrs. Bessie Faye Hedgecock Motsinger, 85, of Motsinger Drive died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Service is assisting the Motsinger family.

MYERS
Mrs. Posie Wilkes Myers, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. Born Sept. 7, 1914, to the late Henry Lee and Ruth Lemmons Wilkes, Mrs. Myers was married March 27, 1932, to Clyde William Myers, who preceded her in death Aug. 8, 1992. Also preceding her in death was a son, Clyde Lee, on Nov. 30, 1943, a great-grandson, Stephon James Lassett, two sisters, Hazel West and Ann Carlson and three brothers, Henry Wilkes Jr., Pete Wilkes and Tom Wilkes. Surviving are three daughters, Louise Allen, Brenda Kelly and Jean Myers; a son, Steve Myers and daughter-in-law, Linda Myers; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Norman Wilkes. Mrs. Myers and her husband founded C.W. Myers Trading Post Inc. which is still family operated. She was a past president of the Forsyth Saddle Club and a very active member of College Park Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She dearly loved showing American saddlebred horses and in September 1992 she was inducted into the Carolina's Hall of Fame, UPHA Chapter 12. The family would like to express special thanks to Posie's loving caretakers: Virginia Shore, Betty Swaim, Juanita Bennett, Anne McGee and Carol Griffin. SCHRUM
NEWTON -- Bess Lore Schrum, 99, of 602 W. Eighth St. passed away Oct. 31, 2000, at her residence. Born Dec. 11, 1900, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late James A. Lore and Lida Walker Johnston Lore. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Grace Reformed United Church of Christ. She was a charter member of Halycion Bridge Club, Fortnight Bridge Club, the Executives Club and the Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Schrum; four brothers, Rob Z. Lore, James V. Lore, Joseph C. Lore and David G. Lore; four sisters, Mrs. Kent Turbyfill, Mrs. Hugh Williams, Mrs. Kenneth Spicer and Mrs. Fred Hartness; and a daughter, Bess Lore Schrum. Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy "Dot" Hamond of Newton; two sons, Ed Schrum of Newton and Frank Schrum of Kingsport, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Grace Reformed United Church of Christ, with the Rev. David Bowling officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service. SMOAK
COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. -- Mrs. Hilda Englebert Smoak, 88, of W. Poplar St., the widow of Daniel E. Smoak Jr., died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Baptist Hospital in Collierville. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel. Burial will be in Mountain Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday before the service. Mrs. Smoak was born Aug. 20, 1912, in Iredell County to John Douglas and Mamie Wilson Englebert Sr. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Wilkesboro. Her only child, Nettie Margaret Smoak Kragh preceded her in death. She is survived by a son-in-law, Harry Kragh of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. B.N. (Mozelle) Benton of Purlear and Mrs. Frank (Louise) Morrison of Midland; a brother, Charles B. Englebert of Kernersville; a half sister, Mrs. James (Carol) Wilson of Statesville; and a half brother, Richard Don Englebert of Statesville. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

TERRY
Paul Harvey Terry, 82, of Westfield died Oct. 31, 2000, under Saint Luke's Hospice Care at his daughter's home in Boise, Idaho. Memorial services will be scheduled at Saint Luke's Methodist Church in Danville, Va. at a later date with burial in Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy. Arrangements are being handled by Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel in Boise, Idaho and Moody's Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Paul was born Jan. 23, 1918 in Greensboro. He married Ruth Frans Terry on May 24, 1941. A veteran of World War II he served in the Asiatic Pacific Area as seaman first class. Paul's business career spanned 50 years in the southern textile industry. He retired from Durham Hosiery Mill and enjoyed an active retirement serving his church, gardening and visiting and fishing with his grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth, of Westfield; daughter Paula and her husband, John Warren of Boise, Idaho and two grandsons, Josh Warren of Boise, Idaho and Ian Warren his wife, Roxanne of Boise, Idaho. TILLEY
James Olin Tilley Sr., 78, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday evening, Oct. 31, 2000, at his home. He was born July 15, 1922, in Stokes County to Rector and Ethel Flynt Tilley. Mr. Tilley was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He owned and operated Tilley Gulf at the corner of Thomasville Road and Sprague Street for 20 years. He retired from Salem Trust Bank after losing his eyesight in 1997. He was president of Broadbay #2 precinct for 20 years. Surviving are his wife Peggy W. Tilley of the home; a daughter, Vicki K. Tilley of the home; two sons, Jim (Brenda) Tilley of Graham and Tony (Susan) Tilley of Wilson; two granddaughters, Katy and Megan Tilley; two brothers, Jack (Pansy) Tilley of Stoneville and Bobby Joe Tilley of Lawsonville; five sisters, Dorothy Reid of Madison, Angela (Bill) Steele, Temple (Lynwood) Shelton of Sandy Ridge, Virginia Veneable of Stoneville and Rexine (Norman) Bennett of Kernersville; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Marvin B. Aycock Jr. and the Rev. Alan Paschal officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. WILSON
MOCKSVILLE -- Miss Mary Lois Wilson, 77, of Meadowbrook Terrace of Davie died early Wednesday morning. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Eaton Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Jericho Church of Christ cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the services on Friday to receive friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Jericho Church of Christ cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 354 Mocksville, NC 27028 or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Pence of Cleveland and Mrs. Sara W. (Oscar) Koontz of Mocksville and several nieces and nephews.

BEFUS
Rev. John Befus, 87, of Salemtowne entered into the presence of his Lord Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. John, originally from Alberta, Canada, gave much of his life as a missionary in Nicaragua with the Moravian church, serving many congregations and impacting many lives over a 26-year period in that country. He also pastored churches in Canada, Philadelphia and lastly at Fries Memorial Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. Following retirement, John spent many hours visiting those who were homebound or hospitalized from both Fries and Trinity congregations. John's loving family includes his beloved wife of 57 years, Violet Stelter Befus; two sons, the Rev. Gerry Befus and Timothy Befus; a daughter, Ruth Snyder and her husband, John; six grandchildren, Richard Snyder, Randall Snyder (wife Andrea), Gregory Snyder (wife Courtney), Eva Mullinax, Deanna Befus and Michelle Befus; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Kathryn Mullinax. The family in Canada includes brothers Gordon, Wilfred and Edward Befus and a sister, Mildred Graham. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fries Memorial Moravian Church with Rev. Stuart Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in God's Acre. The family will receive friends after the burial at Fries Memorial Moravian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mission Society of the Moravian Church South, 500 S. Church St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101. The family wish es to express their gratitude to the nurses and the support per sonnel of the 9th floor at Forsyth Medical Center.

BUSBY
Mrs. Mary Frances Richardson Busby, 85, of Oak Street died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at the Brian Center in Salisbury. Mrs. Busby was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Davie County to the late Robert Wesley and Lettie Boyd Richardson . She was married to the late Isaac W. Busby who preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Busby is survived by a son, Morgan Earl Smith and wife Gail of Mocksville; two daughters, Mary Jane Smith of Lynnwood and Faye Williams and husband, Darryl of Mocksville; brothers, William Richardson and Clyde Richardson and Shirley Richardson, all of Mocksville and Bobby Richardson of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Dorothy Smith of Welcome, Louise Swisher of Goldsboro, Ann Schiller and Elizabeth Cale of Norfolk, Va.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive her. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Davie Funeral Service, LLC, 416 Valley Road, Mocksville. A graveside service will be held at Ijames Baptist Church cemetery at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Tuggle officiating. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Southern Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. Davie Funeral Service, LLC will be serving the Busby family.

CREWS
SUMMERFIELD -- James P. (J.P.) Crews, 75, of 6728 Brookbank Road died Oct. 30, 2000, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Memorial service will be Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at 7 p.m. at Forbis and Dick, North Elm Street Chapel. Mr. Crews was born in Kernersville. He was a U.S. Marines veteran of World War II and was a retired pipe fitter. He attended Union Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughters, Lana Stafford of Thomasville, Sharon Scarbrough of Greensboro and Kelly Lattimore of Kernersville; sons, Barry L. Crews of Oak Ridge, Timothy G. Crews of Greensboro and Buzz Crews of Kernersville; a sister, Betty Crews McGee of Kernersville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas L. Crews Jr. The family will receive friends at Forbis and Dick, North Elm Street Thursday after the memorial service until 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the World War II Memorial Fund, American Battle Monuments Commission, P.O. Box 96074, Washington, DC 20090-6074.

Mrs. Pearl Rose Parrish Day of Winston-Salem died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Forsyth County to Walter and Myrtle Rose. She was a member of Cedardale Baptist Church. Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Russell G. Day and a daughter, Tammy Renee Parrish Gibson. Survivors include a son, Ricky Parrish and wife Doris of Welcome; two daughters, Vikki Tuttle and husband Roger of Lewisville and Pamela Sykes and husband Tommy of Franklinville; two granddaughters, Rebekah Williams and Melissa Parrish; seven grandsons, Ritchie Parrish, Jamie Williams and wife Stefani, Ryan Gibson and wife, Tanya, Chris Sykes, Chad Gibson, Jamie Tuttle and Scottie Parrish; a brother; four sisters and a special friend, Jim Shell. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodland cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
