MOSER
ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. -- Mr. Rudy Moser, 71, died Nov. 27, 2000, at his home. He was formerly of Chestertown, Md., where he was a manager of Stenger True Value Hardware. He had lived in St. Pete Beach since 1980 and retired from True Value Hardware. Mr. Moser was of the Episcopalian faith. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Chestertown, Md., Volunteer AARP -- Driver Safety Training and an active sponser for Children Inc. He was interested in golfing and sailing. Surviving are his wife, Brenda; two sons, John Frederick Moser of Severna Park, Md. and Lawrence Moser of Lynch, Md.; and four grandchildren.

PRUITT
Mrs. Hazel Spach Pruitt, 74, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born May 28, 1926, in Forsyth County to Willis Eugene and Louella Branson Spach. Mrs. Pruitt was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church on Palmer Lane. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reece E. Pruitt. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Vickie Fritts and husband Larry and Ms. Carolyn Zimmerman and special friend Charles Wilder of Winston-Salem; a son, Gary W. Peak and wife Kim of Winston-Salem; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Geraldine Heirs of Summerville, S.C., and Ms. Louise Baugness and family of Shepherds Crossroads; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Yontz of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Reece and the Rev. Richard Everhart officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation Inc., 1501 N.W. PURYEAR
Mrs. Wanda Osborne Puryear died at her home Nov. 30, 2000. Mrs. Puryear was born March 26, 1932, to Jones E. and Ola Arnold Osborne in Creston. She is survived by her husband, Thomas C. Puryear; two sons, Billy Douglas Puryear Sr. and wife, Deborah, of Winston-Salem and Thomas Christian Puryear of Roanoke Rapids; a grandson Billy Douglas Puryear Jr. of Winston-Salem; a granddaughter, Kristen Puryear of Ohio; a great-granddaughter, Whitney Puryear of Kernersville; two brothers, Bud Osborne of Pennsylvania and Paul Ham of Lansing; and a sister, Margaret Howell of Lansing. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Maj. Dan Proctor of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the funeral home.

SMITHERMAN
YADKINVILLE -- Mrs. Rose Smitherman, 91, formerly of Clemmonsville Road, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Silas Creek Manor in Winston-Salem. She was born Aug. 7, 1909, in Spring Creek township, Iowa, to the late Joseph Scharfel and Mollie Miller Scharfel. Mrs. Smitherman worked as a nursing aide at Hoots Memorial Hospital and with the Boonville school system in the cafeteria. She was married to the late Foy Smitherman, who preceded her in death. Also a son, Robert J. Smitherman, and three sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Billy) Jenkins of Winston-Salem; two sons, Benard "Bud" (Nita) Smitherman of Winston-Salem and Billy (Sharon) Smitherman of Jackson, Va.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five sisters in Iowa. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Deep Creek Friends Church in Yadkinville, with the Rev. H.O. Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Reavis Funeral Home, Yadkinville. Reavis Funeral Home Yadkinville Chapel is serving the Smitherman family.

SPAINHOUR
KING -- Troy Leroy Spainhour, 90, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Walnut Cove Health Care where he had been for the past 12 years. He was born July 18, 1910, in Stokes County to Oscar Lee and Nannie Ethel White Spainhour. Troy served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired farmer and brick mason. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Elbert and Delos Spainhour and a sister, Hassell Spainhour. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Denny Spainhour of the home; a daughter, Cindy Ann Sales; a grandson, Jason Lee Thomas, both of King; two stepsons, Melvin and Johnny Thomas, both of King; three sisters, Medea Cardwell of Winston-Salem, Opal Lawson of King and Estelle Pope of Kernersville; and two brothers, Branson Spainhour of King and Thamer Spainhour of Rockwell. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Slate Funeral Home in King with Brother Larry Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Closer Walk Baptist Church cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the Resident's Council of Walnut Cove Health Care, P.O. Box 158, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.

STEWART
Mr. Charles Abner Stewart Jr., 79, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, after an illness with cancer. Mr. Stewart was born in Rockingham County Feb. 6, 1921, to Charles Abner and Sallie Morton Stewart. He was of the Baptist faith. He lived most of his life in the Ogburn Station community. Mr. Stewart was a plumbing contractor and had owned Stewart Plumbing Co. for 20 years. Mr. Stewart was retired from the city of Winston-Salem as a plumbing inspector after 15 years service. Mr. Stewart was a former member of Mineral Springs Volunteer Fire Department with 22 years service, where he served several years as chairman of the board. He was a member of the North Forsyth Civic Club and the High Rock Lake Association. He had served several years on the board of directors at Northwestern Bank, Ogburn Station branch. He was a 32nd degree Mason of Corinthian Lodge #542, Greensboro. He was a Shriner and a member of Oasis Temple. Mr. Stewart served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was in campaigns and battles in Central Europe, Northern France, the Ardennes and the Rhineland. Among the citations and decorations he earned were the EAMET Campaign Medal with four bronze stars, the American Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clyde M. Stewart; and a sister, Ramona Ann Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Coram Stewart; three sons, Ronald J. Stewart and wife, Lynn, of Kernersville, Charles S. Stewart of Lexington and Mark A. Stewart of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Karen G. Snider and husband, Scottie, of Lexington and Connie J. Mitchell and husband, Steve, of Apex; four grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy "Dottie" Stewart of Stanleyville; and two brothers, Thomas Moody Stewart and wife, Loran, of Pine Hall and Bobby Lee Stewart and wife, Nell, of Winston-Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 at Vogler's Reynolda Road Chapel. Members of the family and friends will meet at the cemetery for a graveside service at 2 p.m. Dec. 2 at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Road. The Rev. B.A. Carroll will officiate. A special thanks to all the staff at Hospice that helped during our Dad's illness.

TIRRELL
CLEMMONS -- Carol Jean (Claycamp) Tirrell, 58, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Aug. 13, 1942, in Harper, Kan., to Ella Marie (Parker) Claycamp and the late Leslie Clarence Claycamp. She spent a cherished childhood on a farm between Ames and Rice in Cloud County, Kan., and in the community of Benton, Kan., with her parents and four siblings. After graduating from Benton High School in 1959, she entered Kansas State Teachers' College in Emporia where she received her bachelor's degree in elementary education. In September of 1963, at the age of 21, she began her lifelong teaching career at Heusner Elementary School in Salina, Kan. Carol wed the late Dr. Richard Irving Tirrell, at that time a second lieutenant at Schilling Air Force Base, on Oct. 9, 1965. She received her master's degree in elementary education from Kansas State Teachers' College in 1967. Carol had been with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools since 1974 and had worked as the curriculum coordinator at Old Richmond Elementary in Tobaccoville for 25 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and had many interests, hobbies and friends. Carol enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad, singing in the Messiah, collecting antique children's books and volunteering for the Ronald McDonald house and other charitable organizations. She was an accomplished pianist and would often play piano during the Sunday service at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship where she was a longtime member and past president. She is survived by two sons, Mark Allen Tirrell (Anna) of Winston-Salem and Gregory Richard Tirrell of Clemmons; her mother, Ella of Augusta, Kan.; her brother, Leslie Duane Claycamp (Trudy), also of Augusta; her sister, Janet Marie Duncan (Gerald) of Girard, Kan.; her brother, Dean Ray Claycamp (Paula) of Wichita, Kan.; her sister, Diane Kay Hraban (Tom) of Ponca City, Okla.; her sister-in-law, Jean Prescott (Tirrell) Pratt (Don) of Springfield, Pa.; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Mark and Greg would like to extend heartfelt grati tude and thanks for the over whelming support of the teach ers and staff of Old Richmond Elementary, especially Pau line Lowder, Kay Schneider and Caroline Billings; the Care Committee members and friends of the Unitarian Uni versalist Fellowship of Win ston-Salem, especially Donna and Ernie Schmid; and to Lin da Henson and aunts Janet and Diane. Our gratitude for your love, care and support during a difficult time cannot easily be expressed or repaid. WATFORD
Mrs. Bessie Adams Watford, 88, formerly of 112 Cecil Drive,died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Springwood Care Center of Forsyth. Mrs. Watford was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Yadkin County to Willis Lee and Frannie Selena Evans Adams. She lived most of her life in Winston-Salem and was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Watford was retired from the Container Corporation of America. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Gibson Watford. Surviving are her daughter, Hettie W. Pittman of Winston-Salem; three granddaughters, Darlene Cantrell of Winston-Salem, Vickie Summey of Lewisville and Marty Young of Walnut Cove; a grandson, Wayne Pittman of Winston-Salem; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Cecil Cave Jr. officiating. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. ARMSWORTHY
ADVANCE -- Mrs. Violet Irene Smith Armsworthy, 90, of Baltimore Rd., passed away Sunday, November 28, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mrs. Armsworthy was born April 1, 1909 in Davie County to the late Floyd and Josephine Tucker Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boss Rensy Armsworthy in 1978 after 51 years of marriage; one brother, Gurney Smith; and one grandson, Christopher Armsworthy. Mrs. Armsworthy spent her life tending to her family and was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Mrs. Armsworthy was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. She is survived by two sons, Ricky G. Armsworthy and wife, Elaine and Barry R. Armsworthy; two daughters, Maxine A. Spillman and husband, Robert and Sherry A. Franco all of Advance, N.C.; three sisters, Ruby S. McKnight, Grey S. Robertson, and Jessie S. Hodson all of Advance, N.C.; two grandchildren, Mrs. Toni S. Ireland and Michael Franco both of Advance, N.C.; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Weekley officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 30, 1999 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Davie Funeral Service Chapel. BAITY
Mr. John Preston "Jim" Baity, 82, of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at Meadowbrook Terrace in Winston-Salem. Mr. Baity was born July 10, 1917 in Yadkin County to John and Etta Wooten Baity. Mr. Baity was involved in organizing the Forsyth County Rescue Squad in the early 1960's and served on the Board of Directors. He retired from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department with 17 years of service. He also was a member of the Winston-Salem Police Department Reserve Unit. He was of the Moravian Faith. Mr. Baity was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Flynn Baity and a daughter, Toby Edwards. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Thomas and husband, Donald and Jewel Troutman and husband, Jack all of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Beverly Cleveland of Rural Hall, and Kelly Troutman, Keith Thomas, and Stevie Edwards all of Winston-Salem; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron Osborne, Hailey, and Chelsie Thomas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Norwood Green and Chaplain Glenn Davis officiating. The burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. CARO
Mr. Julian Sepeda Caro, 22, of Winston-Salem, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 28, 1999. He was born March 11, 1977 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Julian had been accepted to Johnson & Wales Culinary School and his goal was to someday own a restaurant. He had a strong love and high regard for his family and fiancee', Kendra She' Weaver. Julian was a kind, loving, compassionate soul. He was a shining star and a true gentleman. Surviving are his mother, Carmen Caro and step-father, Joe Wallace Campbell of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Omar Caro an Fernando Caro; his fiancee', Kendra She' Weaver; and numerous family and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Corts officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Greg and Lana Weaver, 467 Heritage Dr., Lewisville. HOOKS
Mrs. Selma Pittman Hooks, 95, of Salemtowne, the Moravian Retirement Community, died Monday, November 29, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Hooks was born on August 31, 1904 in Black Creek, N.C. to Benjamin Paul and Mary Estelle Pittman. She was married to Louis Gaylor Hooks who predeceased her in 1988. A former resident of Rocky Mount, N.C., she was very active in the First United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount, and was a District Methodist Women's President for the Methodist Church. In addition, she was a winner of the Clara Barton Award for Volunteer Services in Rocky Mount, a past President of Rocky Mount Rose Society, and the recipient of many awards for her roses. Mrs. Hooks is survived by her daughter, Helen Smith of Annandale, Va.; two sons, Dr. Gene Hooks and wife, Jean of Lake Wylie, S.C. and Dr. Alvin Hooks and wife, Carol Jeane of Lake Wylie, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Linda Kurkowski and husband, Ted of Sedona, Arizona, Andrea Register of Annandale, Va., David Hooks and wife, Lisa of Raleigh, N.C., Dennis Hooks and wife, Perry of Bethesda, Md., Michael Hooks and wife, Linda of Germantown, Md., Terri Meeker and husband, Doug of Charlotte, N.C., Jeff Hooks of Raleigh, N.C., and Nell Wagner of Raleigh, N.C.; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Robyn, Gena, and Andrew Saulitis; Jessica, Daniel, David, Dillon, Olivia Jean and Julia Hooks; Alexander Beasley; Lindy Jamey; and Zach Meeker. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel by Rev. Norwood Green and Rev. Bruce Jones. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. HYLAND
Mrs. Thelma Smith Hyland, 73, of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born August 18, 1926 in Davie County to Alexander and Hazel Bowden Smith. Mrs. Hyland was of the Methodist faith and was a Licensed Practical Nurse. Surviving are four sons, James P. Bennett and wife, Gretchen, Greg Wiles and wife, Cindy, and Doug Wiles all of Winston-Salem, and Mark Wiles and wife, Lee Ann of Clearwater, Fla.; one grandson, Todd P. Bennett of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Fred Smith and wife, Doris and Warren Smith; and two sisters, Ava Nell Willard and Zelda Burton and husband, Herb all of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Dana Wooten officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C. S. KING
Mr. William Aaron King, 80, of Winston-Salem, died peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. King was born March 4, 1919 in Forsyth County to James Walter and Viola Locke King. He was a WWII U.S. Air Force veteran and was retired from Hanes Hosiery, a division of Sara Lee Corp., after 44 years of service. After retirement, Mr. King was an active member of the Cricket's Nest and enjoyed his garden. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Louise Shipley King, of the home; a daughter, Josie L. King, of Winston-Salem; a son, Larry G. King, of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Janice B. King, of Winston-Salem; a grandson, Aaron E. King, of Greenville, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Lillian Solomon King, of Kernersville, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Phillip Shore, of Winston-Salem; and six nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Gardens of Memory cemetery with Pastor Larry Esler officiating. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek is serving the King family.

MISCHLER
KERNERSVILLE -- Philip "Yankee" Mischler, 68, died Monday, November 29, 1999 at Kernersville, N.C. A native of New york State, Mr. Mischler was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and had retired from Pilot Freight Carriers. He was a member of teamsters Local 391. He is survived by his wife, Polly Mischler of the home; daughter, Dale Bottoms and husband, Eugene of Kernersville; son Captain Philip "P.R." Mischler, Jr. and wife, Ashley of L.A., Calif.; brothers, Peter, Wesley, and Russell Mischler and families of New York State; and grandchildren, Ami and Philip Mischler of L.A., Calif. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at Pierce Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, N.C. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Pierce Funeral Chapel.
REDMAN LILLINGTON, N.C. -- Gatrina Simmons Redman, 94, widow of Odes Alston Redman of Brookfield Retirement Home, Lillington, N.C., formerly of Pilot Mountain, N.C., died late Sunday evening. Mrs. Redman was born in Surry County August 1, 1905 to William Alexander and Mary Nannie Hemmings Simmons. She was retired from Belton's Laundry in Mount Airy, N.C. and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Opal Redman Jones of Newport News, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Katherine Redman of Hendersonville, N.C. and Phillip and LaRue Redman of Lillington, N.C.; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, December 1, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Holly Springs Baptist Church, Mount Airy, N.C. by Rev. Fred Chilton and Rev. Odell Sisk. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. Mrs. Redman is at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain, N.C. and will be taken to Holly Springs Baptist Church 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

SHAW
BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. -- Mrs. Essie Lee Shaw, 78, passed away November 28, 1999. Jesus called and Mother answered "Her Coronation Day" at Guilford Healthcare Center after declining health with Alzheimers. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at Reedy Fork Baptist Church where she was a member. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Officiating in the service will be our Pastor Dr. Steve Gunter, Rev. Ralph Webb, and Rev. Joe Chandler. Mrs. Shaw was born February 20, 1921 in Lincoln County, N.C. to Annie Helms and James D. Long. Mrs. Shaw was a housewife, homemaker, and helpmate to our Father Rev. M. W. Shaw (Dub). She was a very kind, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Loved by everyone who knew her and her sweet spirit. She helped our father in every church they ministered and acquired many lasting friendships along the way. Mother loved the Lord with all her heart and loved to sing about Gods love. Even with this terrible disease she remembered hymns and burst into song praising God. Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. M.W. Shaw, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Long; two brothers, Winfred D. Long and James D. Long of Charlotte, N.C.; and one sister, Mrs. Willie Mae Simpson of Charlotte, N.C. Surviving are a daughter, Gayle Clark and husband, David of Browns Summit, N.C.; four sons, Larry Shaw and wife, Sheila of Blountville, Tenn., Wayne Shaw and wife, Karen of Winston-Salem, N.C., Steve Shaw of Browns Summit, N.C., and Tim Shaw of Melbourne Fla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Shaw is also survived by one brother, Donald Long of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Clara Bell Long and Betty Jean Long of Charlotte, and Mrs. Carolyn Long Holland of Denver, N.C. along with many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Reedy Fork Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Reedy Fork Baptist Church, 4709 Yanceyville Road, Browns Summit, N.C. 27214. Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel is serving the family.

SHIVELY
Mr. Ellis H. Shively, 87, of Heritage Woods in Winston-Salem, died Saturday evening, November 27, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 1, 1912 in Peru, Ind. to Glen and Celia Hiatt Shively. Mr. Shively graduated from the University of Indiana with a major in economics. He did graduate work at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Mr. Shively was owner-operator of an automobile dealership, vice-president of Wabash Valley Express, Inc. and employed with Douglas Aircraft Co. in Santa Monica, Calif. During World War II, Mr. Shively served his country with distinction as an Army Air Corp pilot during the invasion of Normandy, Southern France, Holland, and Germany. Among his decorations was the European Theater of Operations Ribbon with seven Battle Stars, Silver Star, and Air Metal with 3 Oakleaf Cluster. Mr. Shively enjoyed many years of healthful retirement with his beloved and adored wife, Susan in St. Petersburg, Fla. where they shared their mutual love of reading on the shores of Tampa Bay. He was a member of St. Petersburg Yacht Club for 42 years and a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Cathedral. Mr. Shively was preceded in death by his son, Ellis lee Shively. Surviving are his dear wife, Sue Dyer Shively of Winston-Salem; a step-daughter, Patricia S. Poole of Clemmons; and other relatives include Katherine (Bob) Watson and Anna and Emily Watson all of Winston-Salem, Kimberly (Keith) Hilliard, Alex and Kelly Hilliard all of Thomasville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by Rev. Dr. John R. Campbell. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service.

WATSON
Mr. Grady Watson, Sr., 86, of Ebert Rd., of Winston-Salem, died Monday, November 29, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1913 in Ashe County to Noah and Victoria Byland Watson. Mr. Watson was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Owens. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Vetra Blackburn Watson of the home; one daughter, Melba Owens and husband, Larry "Don" of Winston-Salem; four sons, Kenneth Watson and wife, Ruby of Clemmons, Bennis Watson of Atlanta, Ga., Grady Watson, Jr. and wife, Mabel of Advance, and Donald R. Watson; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Watson and wife, Iris, Herbert Watson and wife, Rachel all of Deep Gap, and Hobert Watson and wife, Jewel of Boone; and three sisters, Hazel Cheek and husband, Edmond of Lenoir, Ella Mae Cheek of Pennsylvania, and Mary Nell Miller and husband, Arlon of Statesville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Eller and Rev. Mike Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Watson will lie instate at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church cemetery Fund, 4265 Ebert Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27127.
