TAYLOR
PILOT MOUNTAIN -- Mrs. Mary Lee Mills Taylor, 86, of 261 S. Boyles St., widow of Marvin B. Taylor, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Taylor was born June 17, 1914, in Patrick County, Va., to the late James William and Mary Waller Mills. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, Appomattox, Va. Mrs. Taylor was formerly a resident of Appomattox where she was a retired teacher at Appomattox High School. She also taught in the Patrick County and Surry County school systems. Mrs. Taylor is survived by three sisters, Lena Mills Cook of Mount Airy, Hope Mills Bateman of Pilot Mountain and Alice Mills Johnson of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack M. and Jency Mills of Columbia, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and a special caretaker and niece, Mary Alice Bennett. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Mills Johnson and two brothers, William H. and Edward Mills. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Hebron Baptist Church in Appomattox with the Rev. Mitch Luckie officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Taylor will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, at Howell Funeral Home, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Patrick Henry Boys Home, Route 2, Box 125, Brookneal, VA 24528. The family is being served by Howell Funeral Service of Mount Airy.

TEMPLETON
Mrs. Lizzie Bracken Templeton, 92, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 24, 2000, at the home she shared with her son, Ernest David Templeton and his wife, Kaye Templeton in Wilmington. She was born in Iredell County May 20, 1908, to William Godfrey and Linnie Boyd Bracken. Mrs. Templeton was retired from P.H. Hanes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Howard Templeton in October 1968; two sons, Thurmond and Eugene Templeton; five brothers, Harvey, Thomas, Noah L., Robert and Carl Bracken; and two sisters, Pauline Bryant and Ola Davis. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest David and Kaye Clanton Templeton; six grandchildren, Harvey Templeton of Lawton, Okla., Tommy and Terry Templeton of Clemmons, David and Kathleen Templeton of Chapel Hill and Johnna Templeton Chorba of Shelby; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

WATTS
KING -- Mamie Lee Bennett Watts died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Village Care of King. She was born July 4, 1914, in Stokes County to Coy Ernest and Ida Gertrude Spainhour Bennett. Mamie was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in King. Preceding her in death were her husband, Lester Carson Watts; a son, Jack Carson Watts; a sister, Phebe Beauchamp; and two brothers, Hobb and Corbett Bennett. Surviving are two daughters, Betty Watts of Winston-Salem and Sue Watts of King; a daughter-in-law, Jane Watts of King; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Pansie Smoot of King; and a brother, A.J. (Della) Bennett of Rural Hall. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Slate Funeral Home in King with the Rev. Randy Roberts officiating. There will be no public visitation or graveside services. Memorials may be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery Fund, 1180 Chestnut Grove Road, King, NC 27021.

ABELL
YADKINVILLE -- Arthur Saxton Abell, 84, of Yadkinville, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999. His funeral service will be held Friday, November 26, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gentry Family Chapel with Bishop Gary Delozier of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Burial will follow in the Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday before the funeral service at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 North of Yadkinville. He was born October 6, 1915 to Winthrop Saxton Abell and Flora Bell Matthews Abell both of whom preceded him in death. He was born in Norwich, Connecticut but has spent the last two decades as a resident of Yadkinville, N.C. Before moving to Yadkin County, he spent many years as a machinist, farmer, as well as the work he found most fulfilling, a foster father to four children. Surviving are his wife, Ida N. Abell; a step-son, Daniel R. Lewis; and step-daughters, Gretchen L. Holcomb and Sandra Lewis; and several step-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Mr. William Abell of California; his sister, Mrs. Ruth Tubbs of New Jersy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Though he had no biological children of his own, through the grace of God, he was given the family he so deeply desired. He will be sorely missed by friends and family alike, having left a lasting impression of a life filled with love. Although he spent his life quietly going about his business, he managed to touch the hearts of those who knew him. His love for his Lord and Saviour shone through his every word and deed and blessed the lives of all he came in contact with. We thank him for the time and love he gave so freely.

ANGLIN
Mr. Charles Lewis Anglin, Jr., 76, of Winston-Salem, N.C., died Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Winston-Salem on November 8, 1923, to Charles Louis and Louise Anglin, Sr. He was a 1942 graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and served in World War II. He retired from Western Electric in 1978 after 33 years of service. He moved to Fayetteville, N.C., in 1980 and worked at the Clock Boutique which he owned with his son. In 1982 he founded Westwood Christian Bookstore which he owned until 1988. He and his wife resided at Oak Island from 1988 until 1993 when they moved back to Winston-Salem. He was a member of Salem Lodge #289 A.F. and A.M. where he was Master in 1975, and Scottish Rite of Winston-Salem where he was a 32 Degree Mason. He was also a member of the Twin City Chapter #60 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a former Scout Master of Troop 49 at Ardmore Methodist Church and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of A.T. & T., a retiree organization. Mr. Anglin was preceded in death by his brother, James T. (Tommy) Anglin. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Mary Frances Lackey of the home; a son, Charles Lewis Anglin III of Raeford; a daughter, Rebecca Anglin of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Stephanie A. Rathjens and Charles Lewis Anglin IV of Aurora, Illinois, Michael Cristian James of Lexington, and Leigh a Reale of Chapel Hill. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Anglin Rights of Mt. Airy and Dorothy Anglin Rantz of Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel. The funeral service will be held at Vogler's Reynolda Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday immediately followed by a graveside service at Forsyth Memorial Park cemetery. BARNARD
Mr. Paul Bruton Barnard, 88, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Iredell County to Thomas L. and Mary McCoy Barnard. He was a member of Bethania Moravian Church, the Forsyth County Fireman's Brotherhood, and a former member of the Winston-Salem and State Civil Air Patrol. He was a millwright and operator of Barnard Milling Co. in Bethania for many years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary B. Windsor. Survivors are his wife, Evelyn of the home; a daughter, Carmen Barnard of Bethania; a grandson, Joseph Lowry of Norfolk, Va.; and a brother, Richard W. Barnard of Winston-Salem. The family will be at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Road from 6:30-8:30 Friday night. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Charles Fishel and Rev. John H. BLAKLEY
Mrs. Kathryn Speas Blakely, 76, of 1540 Polo Road, (Manor House), died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at The Nursing Center at Oak Summit. She was born July 4, 1923 to Charles Edwin and Etta Draughn Speas. Mrs. Blakley was a retired Bookkeeper for Howard Blakley & Son Plumbing company. She was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Blakley was preceded in death by three brothers, Julius, Carl, and Walter Speas of King. She is survived by her husband, Howard Gray Blakley of the home; a daughter, Linda Rhoades and husband, Arthur of Winston-Salem; three sons, Bobby Blakley and wife, Lynda of Kernersville, Rev. Billy Blakley and wife, Pat of Simpsonville, S.C., and Johnny Blakley and wife, Robin of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, November 26, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestwood Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Todd Holt and Rev. Ray Davis. The body will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. BURGE
HIGH POINT -- Mrs. Ethel Marshall Burge, 89, of 1911 N. Centennial St., High Point, died Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Wesleyan Arms Nursing Home after a period of declining health. She was born April 19, 1910 to Vick and Anna Boles Marshall. Mrs. Burge was a retired owner/operator of Burge Florist in Asheboro, a member of Archdale United Methodist Church, and a former Sunday School Teacher and choir member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Oliver Burge; a daughter, India Burge Mackintosh; one brother; and three sisters. Surviving are four sisters, Alma Morgan and Gladys Carroll of Walnut Cove, Lorraine Bowman of Germanton, and Margaret Culpepper of Gibsonville; one grandson, Charles Gideon Mackintosh of Trinity; and three great-grandchildren, Jessica Sekulich, Adam Mackintosh, and Noah Mackintosh. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Cumby Eastchester Chapel conducted by Charles Mackintosh with burial in Floral Garden Park. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Friday until the service.

HARLEMAN
Christopher Scott Harleman, 17, died Friday, November 19, 1999 in a fatal car accident in Kernersville. Chris was a senior at Western High School and a computer student at Weaver Education Center in Guilford County. He was also a member of the Kernersville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Survivors include his parents, Scott L. and Brenda D. Harleman; his three younger sisters, Diana L., Tonya R., and Julie E.; his grandmother, Joy Gross of Florida; his grandparents, Don and Ruth Jones of Indiana; and numerous aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 26, 1999 at East Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4259 Northampton Drive, Winston-Salem. HOWARD
Scekeithia C. Howard "Kei", 38 of 2453 Valley Road, passed away Sunday, November 21, 1999 at WFU/Baptist Medical Center. She was born November 21, 1961 to John Howard and Mrs. Annie (Herbert) Hope both of Winston-Salem. She was a graduated of Springarden High School in Washington, D.C. She futhered her education at harrisburg Community College in Harrisburg, Pa. She was an employee of The Special Children's School. Kei was a Baptist by faith. She received an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Howard was a member of the N.C. Teachers Association. Surviving are a very devoted friend, Edmund J. McNeil of the home; a loving step-daughter, Kathleen McNeil of this city; two sisters, Katrina Howard (Mike) Pemberton of Trenton, N.J. and Chadilynne Howard of Harrisburg, Pa.; five brothers, Anthony Luck, Leonard Morrison, and Larry Gray all of Statesville, N.C., Gregory Howard of Corinth, Texas, and Stephan Howard of Harrisburg, Pa.; four step-sisters; one step-brother; her maternal grandmother, Seloccia Witt of Forestville, N.C.; four uncles; one great-uncle; two aunts; two great-aunts; and other relatives and many friends. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Friday, November 26, 1999 at Frances S. and Jerry Gilmore, Jr. Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Isaac Carter. LEDFORD
HIGH POINT -- Charles Wilson Ledford LCDR USN,77, of 3832 North Main Street High Point, N.C., died Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at his residence. He was born November 21, 1922 in Harrimon, Tenn. a son of the late Anna Mae Stone and Charles Tendel Ledford. He grew up in Somerset, Kentucky then moved to Salisbury, N.C. where he graduated from Spencer High School. There he worked for the Southern Railroad before joining the Navy in 1943. He received his Navy wings and served in World War II. After W.W.II he graduated from United Television laboratories and Capehart Television Factory. He worked for Television Sales and Service in both High Point and Winston-Salem. In 19540 he was recalled into the Navy for the Korean War. He served as a Fighter Pilot abroad the USS Princeton aircraft carrier stationed in the Sea of Japan. On February 21, 1953 he married Sara Dean Miller and was stationed in Norfolk, Va. at the Naval Air Station as the Ground Control Officer where he was presented a Commendation Award for Outstanding and Distinctive Service by Admiral Flatley. He was also stationed in Adak, Alaska where he was G.C.A. officer and head of Air and Sea Rescue Missions. He retired a Lt. Commander from the Navy with an impressive record from both W.W.II and The Korean War. He joined Bivens and Caldwell as company pilot and service technician and later moved into sales. It was acquired by Hewlett Packard Medical Company and he continued in sales. Through the years with several promotions he became District Manager and her retired after 22 years. In 1983 he founded Ledford Medical Electronics. As President and CEO he leaves behind over 100 employees that he was very proud of. His most important endeavor and achievement was raising his family to stand together and stay together and to be proud of his namesake and to know their father for he never had one. He is survived by his wife, Sara Miller Ledford; four children; five grandchildren; and one sister, Charles (Chuck) Wilson Ledford, Jr. his wife, Lynne and children, Jessica Lynne and Carly Jennifer, Henry (Hank) Franklin Ledford, Michael (Mike) Dean Ledford his wife, Lorraine and child, Luke Michael, Sallye Ledford Kirkpatrick her husband, Ron and children, Sara Katherine and John Ledford, and sister, Fancis Reynolds. He will be forever loved and greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held with full military rites Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 918 North Main Street by Dr. R. Scott Woodmansee and Rev. Lisa M. Mullen. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home and will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Visitation will be Friday evening at Sechrest Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on E. MAYO
TOBACCOVILLE -- Mr. Edward Michael"Mike" Mayo, 51, of Tobaccoville, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at his home. He was born July 19, 1948 in Buncombe County to Edward Herman and Geneva Drake Mayo. Mr. Mayo was owner/operator of PB's Takeout, Inc. where he established many friendships throughout the Winston-Salem community. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and a member of King Moravian Church. Surviving are his beloved wife, Mrs. Lorrie Cox Mayo of the home; a step-son, Michael William Ballance of the home; his mother of Winston-Salem; a sister, Patty Mayo Pate and husband, Richard of Winston-Salem; a niece, Lauren Pate; a nephew, Brandon Pate; mother-in-law, Mrs. Shirley Cox of Winston-Salem; and many special friends and relatives. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at King Moravian Church with Rev. Jimmie Newsom, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. MCCOLLUM
PILOT MOUNTAIN -- Mrs. Alma Scott McCollum, 96, of Pinnacle, N.C., died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at Central Continuing Care, Mt. Airy, N.C. Mrs. McCollum was born April 6, 1903 in Surry County, N.C. to Thomas Hauston Scott and Letha Owen Scott. She was a homemaker and was a member of Shoals Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, nancy M. McCreary and husband, Henry of Pinnacle, N.C.; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and six great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three step-sons; two step-daughters; three brothers; and four sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 26, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Shoals Baptist Church by Rev. Colen Forrest and Rev. Bailey Elmore. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cox-Needham Funeral Home Thursday evening, November 25, 1999 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in floral tribute or to the Shoals Baptist Church cemetery Fund. MCCULLOH
ADVANCE -- Mr. John Karr McCulloh, Jr., 69, of U.S. Hwy. 158 East, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at his residence. A graveside service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Dulin United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Mark Weekley and Rev. Donald Funderburk officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. They request memorials be considered for Brenners Children's Hospital Developmental Office, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27157. Mr. McCulloh was born May 1, 1930 in Forsyth County to the late John and Magdalene Potts McCulloh. He was a graduate of Shady Grove High School and was co-owner of McCulloh Produce and retired as a self-employed truck driver. Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Leona Myers McCulloh of the home; one son, Dennis McCulloh of Advance; two daughters, Pamela M. Crump of Brown Summitt and Lynn M. Tutterow and husband, Dean of Mocksville; six grandchildren, Niki McCulloh, John McCulloh, Maggie Crump, Samuel Crump, Caitlin Tutterow, and Annalee Tutterow; and one sister, Jacqueline Taylor of Augusta, Ky. Eaton Funeral Service of Mocksville is serving the McCulloh family.

NELSON
Mrs. Virginia Gallman Nelson, 72, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, November 22, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born January 24, 1927 in Blacksburg, S.C. to Fred H. Gallman, Sr. and Lucretia Guinn Gallman. Mrs. Nelson was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church and was very active as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Fred H. Gallman, Jr. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband, Jesse Nelson, Sr. of the home; one son, Jesse Dennie Nelson, Jr. of Winston-Salem; three daughters, Kathy N. Warren and husband, Bob of Winston-Salem, Dorothy N. Carter and husband, Tom of Kernersville, and Jenny N. Odom and husband, Alton of Atlantic Beach; two sisters, Frankie Jackson of Van Nuys, Calif. and Sara Isidro of Berwyn Heights, Md.; and one half-sister, Mary Moss of Blacksburg, S.C. Funeral services will be Friday, November 26, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Kilbreth and Rev. Paul Riggs officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. BOSTIC
GEORGETOWN, S.C. -- Murphy Crews Bostic, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Winyah Convalescent Center in Georgetown. Mrs. Bostic was born in Kernersville on Aug. 2, 1908, a daughter of the Rev. James Madison Crews and Louisa Victoria Matthews Crews. She grew up in Winston-Salem and worked with Duke Power in Charlotte for 18 years. Mrs. Bostic lived in Columbia, S.C., and North Litchfield Beach, S.C., for a number of years before moving to Georgetown. She was a communicant of All Saints Church, Waccamaw at Pawley's Island, S.C. Mrs. Bostic was a former communicant of St. Michael's and All Angel's Episcopal Church in Columbia, where she served on the Altar Guild. She was noted for making Christian Symbol ornaments for Christmas sales for both churches. Mrs. Bostic was the widow of Wade Smart Bostic. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Bostic Choate of Georgetown; a brother, Justice A. Crews of Winston-Salem; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Wade Choate of Georgetown. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Old All Saints Church, Waccamaw, with the Rev. Thaddeus R. Barnum, the Rev. Erilynne Barnum and the Rev. Benjamin Wham officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. There will be a reception in the ACTS Building of the church immediately following the commital service.

BRANHAM
KERNERSVILLE -- Mr. Michael Ray Branham Sr., 35, of 222 Clifton St. died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at his home. He was born Feb. 9, 1965, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late William Joseph Branham Sr. and Guinevere Day Branham Grove. He was a forklift operator and warehouse supervisor at Carolina Art and Frame. Surviving are a son, Michael Ray Branham Jr. of Lindenwold, N.J.; a sister, Beth Pryor of Kernersville; two brothers, William Joseph Branham Jr. of Columbus and David Lee Branham of Pittston, Pa.; his grandmother, Gayle Taylor of Georgetown, Ky.; two nephews; and two nieces. A funeral service will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Chapel, Kernersville. The family will receive friends immediately after the service until 6 p.m.
