REDDING
Mrs. Sadie Walker Redding, 85, of Balford Road died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Clemmons Village II. She was born Feb. 5, 1915, in Yadkin County, the daughter of William and Emily Mathis Walker, who preceded her in death. Her young life was spent in Wilkes County until she married Daniel Floyd Redding and then she resided in Forsyth County. She was also preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Nina Smith Gregory; three brothers, Grady Walker, Noah Walker and Clay Walker; and a grandson, David Jon Redding. Mrs. Redding was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for 34 years, especially enjoying the young medical students who were under the watch care of the church. Mrs. Redding's expertise in crafts was making handmade quilts for family and friends. Surviving are a son, Daniel "Buddy" Walker Redding and wife Lois of Lewisville; a daughter, Peggie Bell and husband Arnold of Hamptonville; a sister, Esther Pardue of Pittsboro; four grandchildren, Daniel Walker Redding Jr. and wife Anita, Mary Ann Redding, Koreen Thomasson and husband Chuck and Art Bell and wife Terri; six great-grandchildren, Daniel Phillip Redding, Jonathan Redding, Thomas Redding, Matthew Bell, Emily Bell and Sloan Thomasson; and a very special niece and her family, Linda and Sam Santiago. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Forsyth Memorial Park, with the Rev. Daniel W. Redding Jr. and Mr. Art Bell officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel and request that memorials be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or Triad Disability Advocates Inc., 3205 S. Main St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.

RIPLEY
ELKIN -- Mr. Gordon Morrisette Ripley, 78, of Oakwood Drive passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at his residence. Mr. Ripley was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Pawhuska, Okla., to Gordon Mont and Mary Morrisette Ripley. Mr. Ripley was a retired colonel of the U.S. Army Special Forces and a member of Elkin Presbyterian Church. Mr. Ripley attended Westminster College and was very active in the Adult Literacy Program in Russellville, Ky. He served as the chairman of the board of the Logan County Library and was fire chief of the Beach Mountain Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Nell Richardson Ripley of the the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Gill and Dee Ripley of Elkin and Robert S. Ripley of New Orleans; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mike Corum of Conyers, Ga.; four grandchildren, Adam Gordon Ripley, Ellen Gill Ripley, Merideth Claire Corum and Alex Michael Corum; a brother, Bob and Carol Ripley of Belleville, Ill.; a sister, Mary Ellen Whitmore of Wilmington, Ill.; and a special friend, Eduardo Marvez. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Elkin Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Dale Walker, the Rev. Bill Brown and the Rev. Roger Ray. Memorials may be made to Elkin Presbyterian Church Piano Fund, 151 Hillcrest Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.

ROBINSON
Mrs. Juanita Robinson departed this life Saturday evening, Dec. 16, 2000. Juanita was born in Darlington, S.C., to the late James and Sarah Marks. She was the youngest of six children. She attended Timmonsville's Brockington School in South Carolina. After leaving school, she moved to New York City, where she met and married Algie P. Robinson. They were a lovely couple and had a wonderful family. She gave birth to nine beautiful children, three of whom preceded her in death, Lavern, Belinda and Alice. Juanita spent most of her adult life in the Bronx of New York. She was a homemaker who believed in taking her family to church. In New York, for many years, she was a member of Mount Haven Reform Church. Upon his retirement in 1987, she, her husband and Kathy, a granddaughter, moved to Winston-Salem, where they joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was not in the best of health, but she assumed her role as housewife and mother. Although her children are all adults now, she looked forward to having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren come for the summer. She loved children so much, and she loved her husband just as much. Juanita has left a real void in the Robinson and Marks families, "But Life Goes On". She leaves to mourn her devoted husband, Algie P. Robinson of Winston-Salem; a brother, Mr. Masoliner Marks (Josephine) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Ms. Bettye Jean Robinson of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Barbara Ann Hamilton of Bronx, N.Y.; four sons, Curtis of Florence, S.C., Cecil Robinson (Hetty), Algie P. Robinson Jr. and Michael Robinson, all of New York; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a numerous amount of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at the Mount Olive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the chapel. The funeral cortege will assemble and leave from 209 Rhyne Ave. Arrangements entrusted to Gilmore Funeral Home. (GILMORE)

STOOTS
Mr Robert Herman Stoots, 78, of 6148 Tobaccoville Road, Tobaccoville, died Tuesday morning at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Elkhorn, W.Va., on Sept. 15, 1921, to Hobert Gordon Stoots and Mary Elizabeth Moore Stoots. Mr. Stoots served with the U.S. Army during World War II. For more than 30 years, he was employed by the Olga Coal Co. in Coalwood, W.Va., retiring as a supervisor. Surviving are his wife, Juanita Moore Stoots of the home; a son, Howard Edward Stoots and his wife Rebecca of Flint, Mich.; a grandson, Scott Edward Stoots, and a granddaughter, Heather Stoots, both of Flint; and a sister, Betty Griffith and husband Charlie of Mesa, Ariz. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Thursday evening at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. A military service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, W.Va., conducted by American Legion Post 175. Mr. Stoots will lie in state 30 minutes before the service.

WATTS
ELKIN -- Mrs. Theresa McAllister Watts, 70, formerly of Hillcrest Drive, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Watts was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Burke County to the late Millard Fillmore and Cora Lavada King McAllister. Mrs. Watts was a homemaker and a member of Elkin First Baptist Church, where she was a choir member. Mrs. Watts was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Elkin Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Thurmond Watts of Elkin; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Buddy Mastin of State Road; a sister, Novella Swanson of Drexel; and a grandchild, Carrie Elizabeth Mastin of Jonesville. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Bill Johnson and the Rev. Joe Dell Rust. The family will receive friends immediately after the memorial service. The family would like to acknowledge with deep grati tude the kind and loving care Mrs. Watts received at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and at Heritage Care of Elkin. WHITAKER
YADKINVILLE -- Mr. Oscar Gentry Whitaker, 93, of 207 Whitaker Road, Pinnacle passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at the Yadkin Nursing Home in Yadkinville. Mr. Whitaker was born Aug. 25, 1907, to Houston Gentry and Annie Barker Whitaker in Surry County. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Whitaker United Methodist Church Chapel for 52 years, where he taught adult Sunday school and was church treasurer for many years. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy B. and Joanne Whitaker of Winston-Salem and Van G. and Elaine Whitaker of Dobson; four grandchildren, Donna Whitaker of New Port Richey, Fla., Teresa and Steve Whitmyer of Annapolis, Md., Jon and Sally Whitaker and Sommer Whitaker of Dobson; and a great-grandchild, Holly Anne Whitmyer. Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his wife, Holly Whitaker Whitaker; sister Minnie Ring; and brothers John Whitaker and Tony Whitaker. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Whitakers Chapel with the Rev. Elise Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be made to the Whitakers Chapel cemetery Fund, 234 Whitakers Chapel Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. WHITE
MADISON -- Mrs. Betty Reid Amos White, 58, of 301 W. Decatur St. died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Morehead Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at True Gospel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Kallam Grove Christian Church cemetery. Mrs. White was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County and was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Pearl Bullins Reid and her husband, Clifton White. Survivors include her son, Jeff Amos and wife Dawn of Sandy Ridge; daughter Donna Ellis and husband Jerry of the home; brother Roy Lee Reid and wife Martha of Madison; sisters Ruth Brown and husband R.V. of Asheboro, Shirley Reid of King, Penny Michaux and husband Odell of Stokesdale and Christine Kimel and husband Butch of Rural Hall; grandchildren David and Tamatha Ellis of the home, Jacob and Joshua Amos of Sandy Ridge; special care giver Mary Welch of Madison; and special nurse Abby Stopml of Eden. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Colonial Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

ZERFOSS
GREENSBORO -- Ernest E. Zerfoss, 87, of Summerfield passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in Blairsville, Pa.
The family is being served by Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain.

ANDREWS
CLEMMONS -- Mr. Everette Wayne Andrews, 68, a resident of Clemmons died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
No visitation is planned at the funeral home.

BALLARD
Mr. Drewie Alson Ballard, 78, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Walnut Cove Health Care. He was born May 6, 1922, in Wilkes County to Robert Luther and Nancy Combs Ballard. He was of the Baptist faith and served as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended Winston-Salem Barber College and was a member of White Rock Civic Club. He retired after 30 years with the N.C. Department of Transportation. He was preceded in death by a special son, Douglas Edward Ballard; a brother, Asbury Ballard; and two sisters, Emmaline Porter and Beatrice Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ruby Waddell Ballard; two daughters, Ann B. Ibraham (and husband Gerald) and Chrystal B. Crosby; three grandchildren, Dr. G. Jason Ibraham, C. Edward Crosby Jr. and Malinda C. Owen; six great-grandchildren; a brother, MacArthur Ballard; and two sisters, Martha Cody and Anzie Pruitt. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown by the Rev. Glenn Davis. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel and requests memorials be made to Williams Adult Day Care Center (specializing in Alzheimer's care), 231 Melrose St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

BROWN
MOCKSVILLE -- Mr. Paul Junior Brown, 66, of Ridge Road passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Davie Medical Center in Statesville. Mr. Brown was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Rowan County to the late Grover Cleveland and Rosa Harkey Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Brown, and four brothers, Rome Brown, Grover Brown, George Brown and Clyde Brown. After 37 years as a supervisor, he retired from Kenwnuee Scientific Equipment in Statesville. He was of the Lutheran faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Nora Lynch Brown; two sons, Paul Richard Brown and wife Carolyn of Mocksville and Curtis Lee Brown and wife Terri of Salisbury; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Arthur Ray Brown of Cooleemee and Bobby Lee Brown of Mocksville; and four sisters, Emma Hendrix of Mocksville, Catherine Privette of Cooleemee, Sadie Mae Hilton of Mocksville and Dorothy Jean Brown of South Carolina. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Calvary Baptist Church on Davie Academy Road with the Rev. Edward Mitchum and the Rev. Steve Hedgecock officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church cemetery Fund, 2165 Davie Academy Road, Mocksville, NC 27028. Davie Funeral Service LLC, 416 Valley Road, Mocksville, will be serving the Brown family.

CHILDRESS
MIDWAY -- Enriqueta "Henri" Siqueiros Childress, 41, of Woods Lane, Midway community, died Friday morning, Oct. 20, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center after a short illness. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel conducted by the Rev. Billy Martin. Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. She was born July 15, 1959, in El Paso, Texas, to Rafael Siqueiros and Olivia Brito Siqueiros. She was a phlebotomist with Forsyth Medical Center and was of the Catholic faith. She loved her angel collection, and the family knows that she has angel wings. Surviving are her husband, Steve Oscar Childress of the home; three daughters, Stephanie Childress, Karen Childress and Jennifer Childress, all of the home; her mother, Olivia Brito Siqueiros of El Paso, Texas; brothers Rafael Siqueiros Jr. and Lorenzo Siqueiros, both of El Paso; and sisters, Rosa Siqueiros, Rebecca Siqueiros Rodricuez, Frances Siqueiros and Christina Siqueiros, all of El Paso and Alejandra Cobb of Ft. Campbell, Ky. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the home.

DENNY
PILOT MOUNTAIN -- Cameron Collins Denny, 12, of Reid Denny Way passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 19, 2000, at the Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem. Cameron was born in Forsyth County on April 14, 1988, to Reid Leonard Denny Jr. and Tammy Ruth Collins Denny. Cameron was a student at Pilot Mountain Middle School and a young Christian man of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his loving parents, Tammy and Reid Denny Jr. of the home; a sister, Salley Katelyn Denny of the home; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Jeffrey Lynn Denny and wife Ramona Gore Denny of Wake Forest and Richard "Andy" Landon Collins and Joseph Reid Denny, both of the home; two nephews, Jack Ballard Denny and Brooks Cameron Denny; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Collins of Pinnacle; and his paternal grandmother, Ruth Denny of Morristown, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Collins, and his paternal grandfather, Reid Leonard Denny Sr. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at East Surry High School by the Rev. Jerry Tedder, the Rev. Robbie Stephens and the Rev. David Wyant. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. Cameron is at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and will lie in state at East Surry High School from 2 to 3 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain. HALL
NORTH WILKESBORO -- Mrs. Lelia Frances Shumate Hall, 82, of Colonial Drive, widow of Claude Monroe Hall, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at her home. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Snipes and the Rev. Karen Hall Parsons officiating. Burial will be at Mountlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Hall was born in Wilkes County on Oct. 14, 1918, to Jacob and Senia Soots Shumate. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher at North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hall was the secretary/treasurer for Tar Heel Oil Inc. Surviving are two daughters, Linda H. Lankford of North Wilkesboro and Brenda H. Cashion of Wilkesboro; a son, Ted M. Hall of North Wilkesboro; eight grandchildren, Paige H. Smith of Chapel Hill, Karen H. Parsons of Charlotte, Arthur H. Lankford of Lawrenceville, Ga., Maria Elledge Nesselrotte of Charlotte, Ted Hall Lankford of Lawrenceville, Ga., Brandon Hall Elledge of Washington, D.C., Fran L. York of Wilkesboro and Cathy C. St. John of Jonesville; six great-grandchildren, Anna Parsons and Will Parsons, both of Charlotte, Nora Smith of Chapel Hill, Austin Lankford of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Katie St. John and Lindsey St. John, both of Jonesville. The family will receive from 6:30 to 8:30 Saturday night at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in North Wilkesboro. HOYLE
COOLEEMEE -- Mr. Marion Hudson Hoyle Jr., 81, of Ruffin Street passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Autumn Care of Mocksville in Mocksville. Mr. Hoyle was born Jan. 20, 1919, in Davie County to the late Marion Hudson and Margaret Efird Hoyle Sr. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Hoyle. He was a graduate of N.C. State University in Raleigh. After 35 years of service, he retired from Western Electric. Mr. Hoyle was a very active member of Cooleemee United Methodist Church and served as a past member of Davie County Hospital Board, Davie County Board of Education and was a member of Mocksville Lodge #134. During World War II, he served as an officer in the Merchant Marines. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marjorie Reavis Hoyle; two daughters, Janet Towell and husband Phillip Gugel of Turlock, Calif., and Tina Roten and husband Rich of Matthews; four granddaughters, Jenni and Kristin Towell and Emily and Meredit h Stout; a brother, Ed Hoyle and wife Mary Lee of Marietta, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Cooleemee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Marshall and the Rev. Joe Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cooleemee United Methodist Church, c/o William Gales, P.O. Box 428, Cooleemee, NC 27014. Davie Funeral Service, LLC 416 Valley Road, Mocksville, will be serving the Hoyle family.

KIMBER
WARRENVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Elizabeth Joyce Kimber, 72, of 19607 Lanbury St., the wife of Frank Kimber, passed away at her residence Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, in Warrenville Heights. Elizabeth was the daughter of the late W. Harvey and Margaret Glenn Joyce. She was a graduate of the local public schools and N.C. A&T State University. She served as secretary of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C., and later as registrar at Bowie (Md.) State College. She was an active member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and the BMCR as long as her health permitted. Libby was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. for over 50 years. She was preceded in passing by a sister, Eva Marie Joyce. Surviving Elizabeth Joyce Kimber are her husband, Frank Kimber; her son, Barrett Harvey, both of the home; a granddaughter, Nicole of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Margie Scarborough (J.P) and Cornelia Forbes (Frizzell) of Winston-Salem; three dear nieces, Claudette Boyd (Ray) of Winston-Salem, Brenda Edge (Carl) of Rocky Mount and Pia Forbes of Atlanta; two nephews, Michael Scarborough of Charlotte and Reginald Scarborough of Winston-Salem; three brothers-in-law, Marvin "Bill" Kimber (Evie), Clifton Kimber (Doris) and Henry Kimber (Dora); four sisters-in-law, Frances Dillard, Jerrine Bigelow, Margaret Thaxton and Mildred Ann Shaw, all of Burlington; and many other nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside rites will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. Donald Jenkins and Dr. Seth O. Lartey presiding. There will be no public viewing of Mrs. Kimber.
