SNIDER 4
John William "J.W." Snider, 82, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1 at First Baptist Church in Welcome. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Snider was born in Welcome Oct. 1, 1918, to William Henry and Olivia May Snider. He was married to the former Louise Rothrock and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Welcome and was a machinist for Hanes Hosiery, retired in 1983. A son, Thomas William Snider, preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dennis of Midway and his wife Lynda, and two grandchildren, Shelly Snider of Winston-Salem and Pete Snider of Midway. Mr. Snider is also survived by three brothers, Ira Snider of Welcome and Paul Snider and Bobby Snider of Lexington. He is also survived by a sister, Pauline Pickle of Reedy Creek. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts be sent to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

WARWICK
KING -- Joseph Lanier Warwick, born Sept. 5, 1927, in Robeson County to Joseph Heber and Nora Leggitt Warwick, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, Forsyth County . Surviving are his wife, Ruth Sisk Warwick of King; three sisters and two brothers, Miriam Warwick Beecher of Carolina Beach, Patsy Warwick (Ray) Joyner of Greenville, Angela Warwick (Graham) Neville of Smithfield, and James (Betty) Warwick and Milton (MaryAnn) Warwick of Wilmington. As requested by Lanier, funeral services will not be observed. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home or a charity of your choice or "Just Go Fishing!"

WATSON
Mr. John Martin Watson, 74 of Mount Airy, husband of Helen Hawks Watson, passed away at Wake Forest University-Baptist Medical Center Friday, Dec. 29, 2000. Mr. Watson was born in Surry County on Jan. 4, 1926, the son of John Martin Watson Sr. and Hattie Haynes Watson Hiatt. He was retired from Pilot Freight Carriers, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Helen Hawks Watson of the home; two sisters and brother-in-law, Hazel Johnson and Delphia and Arvil Thomas, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Watson and three brothers, Bob Watson, Dennis Watson and Maurice Watson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Calvary Baptist Church, with services conducted by Dr. Wayne Hager. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.

BOLTON
MACON, Ga. -- Mr. George Thomas Bolton, formerly of 5325 Houston Road, Macon, Ga., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000. Mr. Bolton was the son of George Sylvester and Annie Dye Bolton and lived in Macon most of his life before moving to North Carolina. He was a machinist retired from Southern Railroad and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Snow's Memorial Chapel in Macon, Ga., conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Woods. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery entering through the main gate. His wife, Mildred Cranfod Bolton preceded him in death. Surviving are his daughters, Frances B. Montaquila of Winston-Salem and Helen B. Dundee of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Lila Bolton of Macon, Ga.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue in Macon, and other times at the home of Elaine and Mel Cranford, 711 Ormond Terrace, Macon, GA 31206. Snow's Memorial Chapel in Macon is serving the Bolton family.

BREWER
Mr. Edward Eugene Brewer, 66, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Charles Martin officiating. BURCHETT
CLEMMONS -- Mrs. Deborah Marshall Burchett, 52, of Lavale Drive died Dec. 31, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born Oct. 11, 1948, in Knox County, Tenn. to John and Bonnie Adams Marshall. Mrs. Burchett retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System as an elementary music teacher. She received her bachelor's degree from East Tennessee State University and her master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a member of Clemmons United Methodist Church; a volunteer at the Oncology Department at NC Baptist Hospital; a volunteer with Cancer Services; and helped start a Cancer Support Group in Clemmons. Mrs. Burchett is survived by her husband, Al; two sons, Heath and his wife Amanda of Winston-Salem and Sean of the home; her parents of Morristown, Tenn.; a sister, Janet Kay Manning and her husband Wayne of Kingsport, Tenn.; and her mother-in-law, Ruth Burchett of Morristown. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Clemmons United Methodist Church with the Rev. David L. Baxter, the Rev. Allan Wright, the Rev. Karla Farabow and the Rev. David Cunha officiating. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance. CAMPBELL
PURLEAR -- Mrs. Iola Church Campbell, 81, of Purlear Road, widow of Edward Montroe Campbell died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with the Rev. Fellman Cheek officiating. Burial will be in the Church of Christ cemetery in the Rock Creek community. Mrs. Campbell was born in Ashe County, June 8, 1919, to Will D. and Mary Phillips Church. She was a member of the Church of Christ in the Rock Creek community. Mrs. Campbell is survived by two daughters, Kaye Reid of Purlear and Jane Bouchelle of North Wilkesboro; two sons, Bobby Campbell of North Wilkesboro and James E. Campbell, PhD of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Leida Vannoy of Purlear, Josephine Blackburn of Millers Creek and Kathleen C. Harrison of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three brothers, Hal Church of Winston-Salem, Guy Church of Millers Creek and Kyle Church of Rock Hill, S.C.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 10 to 11 prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Bless Their Hearts, c/o Sharon Bouchelle, 113, Gentry St. Apt. 15, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659. Bless Their Hearts is a non-profit organization for persons with congenital heart defects. Their goal is to offer scholarships, annual week long day camp to encourage blood and organ donations to help families of CHD patients with hotels and meals during hospital stays. The long term goal is to help fund CHD research. These donations will be in honor of Sharon Bouchelle, Mrs. Campbell's granddaughter, who is a recipient of a heart and lung transplant. Ms. Bouchelle is on the board of directors and vice chairman of Bless Their Hearts.

CHURCH
TOBACCOVILLE -- Mrs. Hazel Reeves Church, 88, formerly of Purlear, Wilkes County and recently residing in Forsyth County died Dec. 30, 2000, at the High Point Regional Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Wilkes County, she was born June 12, 1912, to the late Mitchell and Jennie Hacket Reeves. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Harrison Reeves. On July 6, 1935, she married Richard Ray Church, with whom she spent more than 65 wonderful years. Her family was the center of her life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband of the home; her daughter, Jewel C. McInnis and husband William of High Point; her son, Benny M. Church and wife Phyllis of the home; three granddaughters, Barbara J. Cannon of High Point, Patsy Y. Cannon of Huddleston, Va. and Catherine C. Shallow and husband Rodney of Germanton; a grandson, Richard L. Church of Winston-Salem; and a great-grandson, Mitchell E. Church and his mother, Euna W. Church of Rural Hall. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Zeno Groce officiating. There will not be a public visitation or viewing at the funeral home, however, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Gideons International, 2900 Lebanon Road, Nashville, TN 37214. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and nursing assist ants who lovingly and tenderly cared for our loved one. CRANFILL
YADKINVILLE -- Mr. B. Stephen Cranfill, 32, of Styers Mill Road died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home. Mr. Cranfill was born Feb. 25, 1968, in Yadkin County to Burley C. Cranfill and the late Lois Cranfill Cornelius. He was employed with Greg's Painting Co. and was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville. Surviving are his wife, Christy Brannon Cranfill of Yadkinville; two sons, Bradley Stephen Cranfill and Colby Seth Cranfill of Yadkinville; his father of Yadkinville; a sister, Janice Cantrell of Yadkinville; a niece, Brittany Morawitz of Weaverville; and a nephew, Joshua Morawitz of Yadkinville. His funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Bruce Freeman. Burial will follow in the Peace Haven Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 N., Yadkinville.

DAVIS
EAST BEND -- Mrs. Geneva Lineberry Davis, 88, of 3913 Mount Bethel Church Road passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Yadkin County Dec. 31, 1911, to Doc and Myrtle Sears Lineberry. She was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Davis and a granddaughter, Pam Davis Garcia. Surviving are two daughters, Ann Davis Long and Myrtle Davis Freeman of East Bend; three sons, Howard June Davis of Clemmons, Bobby B. Davis of Yadkinville and William R. Davis of East Bend; a sister, Callie Logan of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Everett "Beauty" Lineberry, Lawrence "Codger" Lineberry and Frank Lineberry all of East Bend; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Huff Funeral Home Chapel in East Bend by the Rev. Jerry Atkins and the Rev. Ottis Hurst. Burial will follow in the Mount Bethel Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.

DREW
Mr. John Reese Drew Jr., 44, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Drew was born May 25, 1956, to John Reese Drew Sr. and Alice Zimmer Drew in Johnstown, Pa. He was retired from the U.S. Army. Mr. Drew enjoyed golf, cooking, gardening and reading. Mr. Drew was of the Presbyterian faith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Alice Jean Zimmer Drew. Surviving are his wife, Alexandra Drew of the home; two daughters, Melanie and Maike of the home; a son, Jeremy of the home; his father, John Reese Drew Sr. of Winston-Salem; and two aunts and uncles, Karen and John Bowden of Springfield, Va. and Rosemarie and Edward Zimmer of Johnstown, Pa. A graveside funeral service will be conducted with full military honors at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Forsyth Memorial Park with the Rev. Maggi Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel and other times the family can be contacted at Mr. John Drew Sr.'s home at 815 Westview Drive, Winston-Salem. The family wishes to acknowledge the many remembrances of lifelong friends.

GOUGH
YADKINVILLE -- On Dec. 30, 2000, our family lost a devoted and loving husband, father, paw paw, son, brother and friend, Robert "Johnny" H. Gough Jr. He was friends with and loved by so many people, and he will be missed. Robert worked at Microfibers in Winston-Salem for 13 years after the closing of AT&T. He was born Nov. 8, 1950, to Exie Plowman Gough and Robert Gough. He left behind a loving and devoted wife, Linda Hutchens Gough of the home; a son, Robbie (Sandy) Gough and a grandson, Nathan Gough, all of Yadkinville; a daughter, Gretta Gough (Marvin) Adams of Yakdinville; his mother, Exie Plowman Gough, and a loyal friend, Don Baity of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Kathleen (Vernon) Dixon and Jeanette (Doug) Holt, all of Yadkinville; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Gough was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Rob" Gough. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Timothy Jones. Burial will follow in the Turner's Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 North of Yadkinville. God gave him to us for 50 years, and one day we will see him again. Until then. . .We All Love You!

HOLOMAN
Mr. William Dunning Holoman Jr. of 3120 Bonhurst Drive died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Va. He was born in Lynchburg, Va. Nov. 22, 1932, to the late William and Rebecca Williams Holoman. Mr. Holoman was a retired administrator at Wake Forest University and was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church. Surviving are his two sons, William C. Holoman of Salt Lake City, Utah and John T. Holoman of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m Tuesday, Jan. 2 at Mr. Holoman's residence, 3120 Bonhurst Drive. Arrangements by Vogler and Son's South Main Street Chapel.

HUCKS
LEWISVILLE -- Mrs. Jo Ann Dye Hucks, 61, of 5800 Kinney Road Lot 36 died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her home. Mrs. Hucks was born in Guilford County a daughter of the late Clyde and Mozelle Tilley Dye and was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters, Tammie Burleson and Tina Hall of Thomasville; two sons, Dale Byerly of Virginia and Gary Byerly of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Peggy Marshall of Stokesdale, Durene "Dee" Cave of Clemmons and Joetta "Jo" Dye of Winston-Salem; two brothers, John "J.C." Dye of Summerfield and Clyde "C.L." Dye Asheville; and 12 grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Westminister Gardens in Greensboro by the Rev. Michael Duffield. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville and other times at the home of her sister, Peggy Marshall, 8405 Stokesdale St., Stokesdale.

JESSUP
Mrs. Ola Mae Priddy Jessup, 83, of 5127 Ramillie Run, Winston-Salem died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem with her family around her. She was born on March 31, 1917, in Stokes County the daughter of the late Elder Watt Priddy and Linda Koger Priddy. She was preceded in death by her parents and a very special niece, Patricia Priddy Smith. On Dec. 26, 1936, she married Ralph A. Jessup, who survives her. Always a very loving and devoted wife and mother, she also leaves behind her two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy and Doug Silvis of Thomasville, Ga. and Susan Carol Jessup of Winston-Salem. Also left behind are two brothers and their wives, Russell and Earline Priddy and Curtis and Polly Priddy all of Danbury. She leaves three grandchildren, Timothy and his wife, Katherine Silvis of Athens, Ga., Kimberly Silvis of Athens, Ga. and Todd Silvis of Thomasville, Ga., as well as nieces, nephews and their children and many loving friends. While living she retired from Pannells Knitting Co. in Martinsville, Va. to raise her two daughters and later retired from Orisle Elementary School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she was a teacher's aide. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale and had stayed in touch over the years with friends in the cancer support group there. Throughout her life her joy was caring for her family. She enjoyed doing many things together with her daughter, Susan, who always lived at home with her parents. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Peters Creek Baptist Church on Highway 8 above Danbury near the Virginia line. Mrs. Jessup will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Elder James Wilkins, Elder Rodney Marshall and Dr. Jim Nelson will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Peters Creek Church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall. Pallbearers will be relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Ola Priddy Jessup to the American Cancer Society, 1900 S. Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. or to the Hospice of Stokes County, P.O. Box 10, Danbury, NC 27016. Mother you will never be gone from our lives or all the lives you have touched, because the quiet, selfless way you gave of yourself will be held very dear in the hearts of all who have had the honor of knowing you. JOHNSON
Mrs. Mildred Campbell Johnson, 87, of Advance died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 13, 1913, in Chesterfield, S.C., to John T. and Mary Gaddy Campbell. She was retired from Western Electric Co. and was a member of Green Meadows Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Walter Johnson Jr., and two sons. Surviving are a daughter, Julie J. Bechtel of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday at Vogler and Sons Clemmons Chapel by the Rev. Ray Davis. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Voglers.

KERRIGAN
Mrs. Mary Marsh McGee Kerrigan, 74, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Kerrigan was born in Forsyth County to Floyd Hampton and Nora White Marsh Nov. 12, 1926. She was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church for the past 50 years. She also was owner and operator of Sir Winston Restaurant of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Kerrigan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Kerrigan; a sister, Dorothy Marsh; and a brother, Arvil Marsh. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Carlton and husband Roger of Kernersville; a son, Mr. Larry E. McGee and wife Vickie of Advance; grandchildren Cheryle and Keith Carlton, Michael McGee and Michelle Barnette; great-grandchildren Maegan, Mitchell McGee and Broc Barnette; sisters Mrs. Frances Hicks of Mocksville and Mrs. Peggy Whisenant of Advance; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Saint Johns Lutheran Church with Pastor Philip C. McLain and Pator Kevin Armbrust officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Kate B. LORENZ
KERNERSVILLE -- Mr. George Aloysius Lorenz, 68, of 361 Brentwood Road, Winston-Salem died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at the Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Lorenz was born in Thrnau , Germany and was employed by Johnson Controls Inc. He was a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Anne Kilgalon Lorenz of the home; a daughter, Carol ann Lorenz Vecsey of Madison, N.Y.; three sons, George Lorenz III and Mark Lorenz of Kernersville and Vincent Lorenz of Brewster, N.Y.; a sister, Theresa Vaccariello of Thornwood, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph Lorenz of Hamilton, Ohio; and six grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be conducted 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph E. Tufkin.

MELTON
ADVANCE -- Mr. Troy Wesley "Chalk" Melton, 73, of Baltimore Road died late Friday night at Forsyth Medical Center after a short illness. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alton Beal officiating. Burial will be in the Bixby Church of the Living God cemetery. The family requests that memorials be considered for the American Cancer Society, 1000 S. Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Mr. Melton was born in Davie County, June 6, 1927, to the late Richard and Eunice Sears Melton and was retired from Heritage Furniture Co. He was a member of Bixby Presbyterian Church. Mr. Melton was a member of the Mocksville Moose Lodge, a member of the Samuel C. Hart American Legion Post 29, Salisbury and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was considered the best Texas wedge player in Davie County and surrounding areas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Beal Melton in 1996. Surviving is his daughter, Mrs. Paul (Gale) Barney of Advance; two sons and daughters-in-law, Maxie and Vickie Melton and Tony and Libby Melton, all of Advance; three grandsons, Wesley Melton, Travis Melton and Daniel Melton; four sisters, Kate Barney of Clemmons, Nancy Wright of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Louise West of Advance and Maude Harris of Mocksville; two brothers, Richard Melton Jr. of Winston-Salem and Harold Melton of Advance; and a special companion, Zelma Stanley of Advance. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and at other times at the home of his sister, Mrs. Louise West on Baltimore Road, Advance.
