SHAW

Mrs. C. Irene Shaw, 79, known as '`Granny’‘ to all that knew and loved her, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 26, 2001, following a period of declining health. A native of Carroll County, Va., she was born June 18, 1921, to the late Joseph Mack and Eliza Whitt Richardson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Davidson Shaw, in 1979 and her only son, Hubert Shaw, in 1986. Mrs. Shaw spent most of her life in Forsyth County and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by one brother, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Jan. 29, in the Rural Hall Memorial Park, officiated by Bro. Ronnie Comer and Bro. Robert Robinson. The family will receive friends and relatives 7-9 p.m. this evening at the Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Rural Hall Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Brenner Children’s Hospital, 301 Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27157.

SHULER

Madeline Louise White Shuler, 70, of Winston-Salem passed away at N.C. Baptist Medical Center on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001. She was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Iredell County to the late Fred C. and Eva Burton White. She was married on April 5, 1947, to Thomas Garland Shuler. In addition to her husband of 53 years, her son, Randy Garland Shuler of Clemmons, survives her. She was also the very proud grandmother of Thomas Shane Shuler and Shana Ann Shuler of Winston-Salem and Taylor Alyse Shuler of Clemmons. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sisters, Pearl Matthews and husband Gray, Marie Harpe and husband John and Hazel Davis and husband Charles. Her sisters Helen Yates and Anna Belle Howard and brother Thomas White predeceased her. Madeline was a lifelong member of Rosemont Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. She retired from AT&T and spent her remaining years cherishing her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was an example to all in her unending devotion to her family as well as her desire to do for others. She was always there with helping hands to assist her friends and family during sickness and health, good times and bad. All those who knew her had their lives touched in a very special way, one that will always rekindle warm thoughts of her kindness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Rosemont Baptist Church on Clemmonsville Road by Pastor Curtis Whaley and Dr. Gary Norris. Interment will follow immediately at Parklawn Gardens. Memorials may be made to Rosemont Baptist Church.

SMOOT

Mr. Robert Norman Smoot, 66, of Winston-Salem died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 29, 1934, in Durham County to Robert and Hattie Eads Smoot. Mr. Smoot was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church and retired from Western Electric. Survivors are wife Polly Smith Smoot of the home; two brothers, Tom Gibson and wife Bonnie of Pfafftown and Harold Gibson and wife Fran of Winston-Salem; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Kevin Kilbreth and Rev. Paul Riggs officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oaklawn Baptist Church, Vision to Victory Fund, 3500 Kernersville Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.

STAUBER

Mr. William (Bill) Franklin Stauber, 41, of Rural Hall died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Stauber was born Nov. 13, 1959, in Forsyth County to Leslie Edwin Stauber Jr. and Johanne Pfefferkorn Stauber. He spent all of his life in Rural Hall, graduating from North Forsyth High School. He studied music at the North Carolina School of the Arts. He performed and taught guitar for many years. He also worked with his father in his father’s business, the Rural Hall Veneer Company, Inc. He was a lifelong member of the Rural Hall Moravian Church. Surviving are his mother, Johanne Pfefferkorn Stauber of the home; sister Janet Stauber Moore and her husband H. Gill Moore of Rural Hall, nephew Benjamin E. Moore of Rural Hall; uncle William G. Pfefferkorn and his wife Jane of Winston-Salem; cousin Karl Pfefferkorn and his wife Katherine, son Joachim and daughter Eva of Charlottesville, Va.; cousin Paul Pfefferkorn and his wife Robin of Winston-Salem; cousin Katherine Johanne Pfefferkorn of Charlotte; uncle L. Gordon Pfefferkorn and his wife June of Winston-Salem; cousin Richard Pfefferkorn and his wife Lisa of Winston-Salem; aunt June S. Fultz of Greensboro; cousin Donna Key and her husband Richard Key and daughter Caroline of Winston-Salem; and cousin David Fultz of Greensboro. Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday at Rural Hall Moravian Church by Rev. James C. Newsome Jr., Pastor. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Bethania Moravian Church Graveyard. Memorial may be made to Rural Hall Moravian Church, P.O. Box 487, Rural Hall, NC 27045. Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road is in charge of arrangements.

TAYLOR

Kovelka '`Kay’‘ Berona Taylor, 76, of Rural Hall, the wife of Edward J. Taylor, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at her home with her family at her side. Mrs. Taylor was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of the late Angelina and Ralko Prerad. A resident of Milwaukee and then Chicago during her younger years, Mrs. Taylor obtained an Associates Degree in Business Administration, worked as an executive assistant overseas for ARAMCO Oil Company, then worked in Los Angeles after World War II. She married Edward J. Taylor of Watertown, N.Y., in 1952 and became a homemaker, bearing five children. The young family settled in Greensboro in 1957 but moved north to the Philadelphia area in 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor returned to North Carolina in 1975 and have resided in the Winston-Salem area since. An avid reader and antique collector who attended many auctions throughout the state, she was also a longtime volunteer at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Taylor had five children, but was preceded in death by her third child, Eric Ross Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Edward Taylor; three sons, Mark Edward Taylor and wife Ilene C. Wasserman and J. Scott Taylor of the Philadelphia area, and Gregory Ross Taylor of Winston-Salem; and one daughter, Christine Taylor McGee and husband John G. McGee of Yadkinville. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Erin Wasserman Taylor and Matthew Wasserman Taylor. Kay was a loving mother and grandmother. The family would like to thank Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, in particular Amanda Bachman for her loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Taylor’s memory to Hospice of Winston-Salem, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 520 Summit St., Winston-Salem.

WEBER

Doris M. Weber of Kernersville passed away on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem. She was born Doris M. Tyler in Buffalo, N.Y., on July 10, 1927, and retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo. She is survived by sister Ethel Tyler of Buffalo, N.Y.; five children, Karen Scherer of Fayetteville, Barbara Barreto of Kernersville, Kathy Wilson of Buffalo, N.Y., Margaret Blalock of Linden, David Bryan of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Jill, Melissa, Jason, Andrew, T.J., Andrea, Kal and Jonathan; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Madeline. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Hanes Lineberry Pierce Chapel, Kernersville. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Cherry Street, Kernersville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

WILSON

DOBSON — Mr. Raymond William Wilson, 70, of 520 Greene Road, Dobson, passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 27, 2001, at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Wilson was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Stokes County to Lindo and Gertie Epperson Wilson. He was a farmer and of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Diana Wilson and Brian Collins of Dobson; two sons and daughter-in-law, David Wilson and Mark and Charlie Wilson of Dobson; and eight grandchildren, Kendall Moorefield, Amber Lewis, Megan Lewis, Mark Wilson Jr., Taylor and Jordan Collins and Kayla and Destiny Wilson. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain conducted by Bro. Don Collins. Interment to follow in the Shoals Baptist Church cemetery. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. The Wilson family is being served by the Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel in Pilot Mountain, N.C.

ANDREW

Mrs. Lorena Manaugh Andrew, 82, died Dec. 22 at Arbor Acres. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Pfafftown Christian Church. Dr. Tom Everton will officiate. Surviving are her husband of almost 60 years, Dan E. Andrew of Brighton Gardens; her two sons, Dr. Ray Hall Andrew and his wife, Dr. Susan Willis, of Winston-Salem, and Dr. John Allan Andrew and his wife, Dr. Lori Andrew, of Leesburg, Va.; one daughter, Lynne Andrew Dickerson and her husband, Francis, of Los Gatos, Calif.; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the church narthex from 5:15 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to Pfafftown Christian Church, P.O. Box 130, Pfafftown, NC 27040.

BRINDISI

Mrs. Betty Brindisi, 88, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001. She was born to the late Solomon Sarfaty and Esther Halio Sarfaty on Oct. 30, 1912, in Istanbul, Turkey. She was married to Frank Brindisi. He preceded her in death in January 1989. She is survived by two sons, David Sonbert of Winston-Salem and Ted Brindisi of Hazlet, N.J.; and two sisters, Clara Motola of New York, N.Y., and Mollie Blumkin of Holmdel, N.J. Also surviving her are five grandchildren, six great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery. Local arrangements by Vogler & Son’s Reynolda Road Chapel.

BROWN

Mrs. Marie Almeta Brown of 4644 Walcott St. passed away Friday afternoon at Forsyth Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem where she attended the public schools. She was the daughter of the late Sabe Black and Anna Crews Black. Survivors include daughter Mrs. Johnnie M. Glenn, son the Rev. George Hauser (the Rev. Sarah) all of Winston-Salem, sister Mrs. Ollie Hamlin of Winston-Salem, devoted nephew Kelly McQueen (Lillian), 12 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Howard-Robinson Home of Memory Chapel with Rev. James Linville officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Black-Martin cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:30-1 p.m. Tuesday, 30 minutes before the services. The procession will assemble and leave from the home of the daughter, Mrs. Johnnie M. Glenn of 4661 Indiana Avenue. Johnson-Howard-Robinson Home of Memory.

COCKERHAM

KING — Mr. Randy Paul Cockerham, 33, of 809 Spainhour Road, King, died Sunday morning, Jan. 28, 2001, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Cockerham was born Feb. 3, 1967, in Surry County to Paul Cockerham and Foye Lee Lowe Cockerham. Surviving are his mother Foye Lee Lowe Cockerham of King; his father Paul Cockerham and wife Judy of King; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Jeff Anderson of Mocksville, Denise Cockerham of King and Rhonda and Steve Beaver of Cleveland, N.C., one brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Jessica Lowe of King; one grandmother, Rose Lowe of Mount Airy; two nephews, Caleb Anderson of Mocksville and Cody Beaver of Cleveland, N.C.; one niece, Ally Lowe of King and several aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with services conducted by Rev. Ralph Sproles and Lt. Col. James Ingram. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home Health of Danbury, N.C., or to Independent Living in Winston-Salem, N.C.

DULL

Mr. Dallas Harper Dull, 73, of South Peace Haven Road died Jan. 28, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on Sep. 27, 1927, to Ho-bert and Flora Harper Dull. Mr. Dull retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with over 39 years of service. He was a lifelong faithful member of Lewisville Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher, a deacon and R.A. Leader. He was loved by everyone. Mr. Dull also loved woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hobert Dull. Surviving are wife Betty; one son, Kevin Dull and his wife Michele of Elon; two daughters, Connie Burnham and her husband Dr. Charles Burnham of Henderson and Susan Diane Hair and her husband Bill of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Carri, Craig, Sara, Matthew, Michael, Jonathan and Michael Thomas; one brother, Jack W. Dull of Lewisville; two sisters, Kathleen Barr of Clemmons and Betty Myers of Advance; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Dull of Lewisville. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Lewisville Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Priest and Rev. Dwight Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Lewisville Baptist Church Preschool, 125 Lewisville-Clemmons Road, Lewisville, NC 27023.
