FULK

KING - Mrs. Agnes Fulk, 89, of 112 Fulk St., died at her home Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, after a period of declining health. She was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Stokes County to Jim and Sally Cassell Fulk. Mrs. Fulk was a member of Boyles Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001. Elders Jimmy Lankford and Vance Jones will officiate. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramie Fulk, in 1987 and two sons, Dellie Gray Fulk in 1979 and Michael Fulk in 1956. Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. John (Alleen) Marshall of Mount Airy, Mrs. Garfield (Wyvena) Hicks, Mrs. D.R. (Ineida) Pratt, Mrs. Nellie Slater, Mrs. Lawrence (Nancy) Phillips and Mrs. Joseph (Diane) Beck, all of King, Mrs. Melburn (Anna Lee) Myers of Swansboro and Mrs. Billy (Sally) Essick of Manteo; four sons, Aldeen Fulk of Swansboro, Edgar Reid Fulk, Jimmy Leo Fulk and Barry Fulk, all of King; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Lankford, of Greensboro; and a special niece, Sara Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Boyles Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, cemetery Fund, 1656 Flat Shoals Road, King, NC 27021. Slate Funeral Home in King is serving the family.

GALLUP

Margaret Ella Farrar Gallup of Arbor Acres, Winston-Salem, the widow of the late Kenneth Raynor Gallup Sr., died Thursday, March 1, 2001, in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Gallup was the daughter of the late Albert Austin and Ella Carpenter Farrar of Mount Holly. She was a former resident of Sanford. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday morning in Casey Chapel at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Hillcrest Gardens in Mount Holly. Mrs. Gallup was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford. She was a former Sunday-school teacher at Steele Street Methodist Church. Mrs. Gallup graduated from Greensboro College with a bachelor's degree in 1930 and graduated from Duke University with master's degree in 1933. Mrs. Gallup was a member of the Private John Grady chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and past regent and member of the Lee County chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Gallup is survived by two sons, Dr. Kenneth R. Gallup Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Winston-Salem and Albert Gallup and wife, Linda, of Sanford; grandchildren Malinda Carole Gallup of Winston-Salem and Kenneth R. Gallup III of Elon College; and nephews David Carpenter Farrar Jr. of Mount Holly and Albert Austin Farrar III of Gastonia. Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2916 Wicker St., Sanford, NC 27330; the Boys & Girls Home of North Carolina, P.O. Box 217, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450; or Greensboro College, 5800 W. Friendly Ave., Greens-boro, NC 27410. Arrangements are by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home, Sanford.

GROGAN

MADISON - Mary Dot Wood Grogan, 64,of 307 N. Market St. died Friday, March 02, 2001, at her home after a lengthy illness. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001, at the First Baptist Church of Madison. Burial will be in the Woodland cemetery in Madison. Mrs. Grogan was a native of Stokes County and had lived in Madison for the past 44 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Madison and was a home-health-care nursing assistant for Rockingham County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter M. and Fairy Wilkins Wood; a sister, Iris Hill; and a brother, Allen Wood. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Carter and husband, Randy, and Sharon Brewer of Mayodan; a son, Ken Grogan of New Orleans; a sister, Pansy Johnson and husband, Vernon, of Reidsville; a brother, Jackie Wood and wife, Jenny, of Walkertown; and four grand-children, Carla Carter, Erin Carter, George Carter and Sarah Brewer. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Ray Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at her residence. Memorial contribu-tions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth NC 27375, or the Gideons, P.O. Box 373, Mayodan, NC 27027.

GWIN

Jack Paul Gwin passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 28, due to complications from a fall earlier in February. He was born Oct. 12,1923, in Winfield, La. He grew up in Union Springs, Ala. He served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers during World War II in England, France, Germany and the Philippines. After graduating from Auburn University with a degree in mechanical engineer-ing, he worked two years for Humble Oil Co. in Baytown, Texas. He returned to Union Springs and was a partner with his father in Gwin Ice Co. He moved his family to Winston-Salem in 1956. He worked for Western Electric for 20 years before transferring to Southern Bell, where he worked for 10 years before retiring. He was married to Dixie Feagin Hall for 53 years. He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Myra Gwin-Summers and Rick Summers of Hillsborough, Dinah Stuart and Delma Stuart of Westfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul Gwin and Elaine Gwin of Winston-Salem and three granddaughters, Ashley Summers, Leigh Gwin and Ellen Gwin. Jack was an active member of Knollwood Baptist Church, Twin City Lions Club, Ardmore Community Club and had been active in the Telephone Pioneers. Friends and family will remember his wit and humor and his love for the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. With his wife, Dixie, he enjoyed dancing, traveling to Elderhostels around the world during their retirement and spending time with friends and family. He was an artist, a musician, a woodworker and a gardener. His easygoing manner and simple charm endeared him to all who were lucky enough to have known him throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in his memory to the Parkinson's Foundation or to Knollwood Baptist Church Memorial Garden. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Knollwood Baptist Church. A reception will follow in the church foyer.

JOHNSON

Mildred Hutchins Johnson, loving and proud mother, encouraging grandmother, caring sister and faithful friend, went to celebrate with the Lord Thursday, March 1, 2001. Mrs. Johnson was born in Piedmont, S.C., on March 5, 1929, and was a member of Vernon Forest Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Steve, Michael and Meta Johnson; stepdaughter Brenda Johnson; grandchildren Krista, Jonathan and Michael; sisters Mary Lankford, Edith DeMers and May Simpson; and brothers Frank and Paul Hutchins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Vogler's Main Street Chapel by Dr. Billy Martin and the Rev. Terry Coats. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time and request that any memorials may be made to the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission.

KIGER

GERMANTON - Mr. Charlie Thomas "Tommy" Kiger, 51, of 6610 Highway 8 S. died unex-pectedly at his home Friday, March 2, 2001. Mr. Kiger was born in Forsyth County on Aug. 7, 1949, the son of Jasper Thomas and Betty Caudle Kiger. He was a member of Marshall Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. He was a 1967 graduate of North Forsyth High School and was an employee of Mock Tire Co. on Country Club Road in Winston-Salem. Surviving are his mother, Betty C. Nelson, and husband, Doug, of Rural Hall; his father, Jasper T. Kiger Sr., and wife, Mae, of Rural Hall; one sister, Jane Kiger of Germanton; two half brothers, J.T. "Junior" Kiger of Pinnacle and Charles Kiger of Walnut Cove; a very special cousin, Trent Carter, of Winston-Salem; and an aunt, Lula Cox of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall by the Rev. Jim Wright. Burial will be in Marshall Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Saturday evening at the funeral home and request that memorial donations be directed to Brenner Children's Hospital, Medical Park Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27157.

PATTERSON

Mr. B.W. "Bill" Patterson, 72, of Winston-Salem died Thursday March 1, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 21, 1928, in Forsyth County to A.L. and Clara Brown Patterson. Mr. Patterson served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS New Jersey. He was retired from Sara Lee and was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church. Mr. Patterson was an ordained deacon at Konnoak Baptist Church and had been active in the after-school program and the food bank of the church. He was past president and coach of the Tiny Greyhounds, past coach and board member of the Winston-Salem South Little League. He was instrumental in helping build the South Little League (Krites Field). Mr. Patterson enjoyed playing golf. And to his golf buddies, the family would like to express a special Thank You! Bill and Libby were an inspiration to many and perfect role models as parents. Though we've lost two loved ones, there's comfort in knowing where they are. Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by his wife, Libby Patterson, in March 1999. He is survived by two sons, Don Patterson and wife, Dawn, of Winston-Salem and Forest Patterson and fiancee, Terri, of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Stacy Roberts, Jamie Patterson, Kristen Patterson, Dale Patterson and Whitney Makas; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Keith Roberts; and a sister, Mary Simmons, of Winston-Salem. Fun-eral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Konnoak Baptist Church by Dr. Gary McCullough and Dr. Ray Hamilton. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gar-dens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.

REAVIS

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Albert Lee Reavis, 74, of 506 Brookside Court, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at his home. He was born in Forsyth County, a son of the late George Lee and Onie Carruthers Reavis. Mr. Reavis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a professional barber and a member of Crews United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter; a grandson; two sisters; and four brothers. Surviving are his wife, Glenna Wooten Reavis, of the home; a sister, Mrs. Nell Fagg, of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Kim Hill Sparrow, of High Point, Danny Ray Hill Jr., of Kernersville and Steven Albert Hill, of High Point; and three great-grand-children. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Chapel, Kernersville, by the Rev. Wanda Ogden. Burial will be in Crews United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Satur-day at the funeral home.

REES

ADVANCE - Mr. Richard L. Rees, 69, died March 1, 2001. A native of Menash, Wis., he relocated to North Carolina in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Porcari, of Clemmons, and Jean Stenehjem, of Bakersfield, Calif.; a son, Sean Rees, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Pat Weichmann, Betty Kehl and Marge Rees; three brothers, Jim, Will and Bob Rees; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Westside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the home of a daughter, 4224 Gardenspring Drive, Clemmons, after the service. Arrangements by Mem-orial Funeral Chapel.

BYRD

MOUNT AIRY - Mrs. Lina Mae Carter Byrd, 89, of 542 Allred Mill Road, the widow of Mr. John Q. Byrd, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at the Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Byrd was born Jan. 19, 1912, in Patrick County, Va., to the late James Walter and Evelyn Spencer Carter. She was a homemaker and member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Johnny C. Edwards of Mount Airy; two grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Melinda Edwards of Lake Norman and Derek and Robin Edwards of King; two great-grandchildren, Chad Edwards of Lake Norman and Joshua Edwards of King; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Arthur and Virginia Carter and Leslie Carter, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Carter Stewart and Sallie Carter Pruitt, and a brother, James Alvis Carter. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 3, 2001, at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with services conducted by the Rev. Robert McCrary. Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Friday night at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Haymore Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 319 Rockford St., Mount Airy, NC 27030.

COGGIN

THOMASVILLE - Wyatt Davis Coggin Sr., 72, a resident of 618 Dogwood Road, died Thursday morning, March 1, 2001, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1928, in Montgomery County, a son of the late George B. Coggin Sr. and Carrie Myrtle Tysinger Coggin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired employee with Bentley Machinery of High Point. Mr. Coggin was a member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church. On Aug. 4, 1951, he was married to Carolyn Smith, who survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Deborah C. Whitt and husband David Whitt of Archdale and Mrs. Linda C. Jarrett and husband Foy Jarrett Jr. of the Wallburg community of Winston-Salem; a son, Wyatt D. Coggin Jr. and wife Sherry of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Kathleen Smith of Thomasville and Dorothy Lee Parrish of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and two grandsons, Daniel Lee Whitt and Andrew Wayne Coggin. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2001, at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with the Rev. Ken Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home. CRAVEN

WILKESBORO -Mr. Claude Wootson Craven, 85, of Moravian Falls Road, the widower of Frances Novella Dyer Craven, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Moravian Falls Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay Johnson and the Rev. E.W. McMurray officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Moravian Falls cemetery. Mr. Craven was born June 18, 1915, in Wilkes County to Charlie Norman and Clemintine Brock Craven. He was a retired building contractor and a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Brown of Moravian Falls; a brother, Warren Craven of Johnstown, Pa.; and a grandson, Steven Todd Brown of Moravian Falls. The family will be at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in North Wilkesboro Friday night from 6:30 to 8:30. Memorials may be made to Moravian Falls Optimist Club, P.O. Box 10, Moravian Falls, NC 28654.

FEEMESTER

Bridgette Feemester, 32, of 1910 Franciscan Terrace, Apt. F (Deerwood Crossings), passed away Feb. 24, 2001.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday with visitation at 1:30.
Burial will be private.

FRAZIER

BELLEAIR BLUFF, Fla. - Mr. Calvin Luther Frazier Jr., 82, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel conducted by Dr. William Medlin III. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service. Interment will be in Forsyth Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Home Inc., 1001 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.

FULK

PFAFFTOWN - Mrs. Martha Jean Hardy Fulk, 73, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Fulk had been in declining health for six months. She was born July 28, 1927, to Fred and Esther Lawson Hardy. She lived all of her life in Winston-Salem and was a graduate of Hanes High School. She was a member of Shattalon Church of Christ. Mrs. Fulk is survived by her husband of 52 years, Grady J. Fulk of the home; a daughter, Pam Witt and husband Johnny; a son, Dale Fulk and wife Chevy; three grandchildren, Andrew Fulk, Cory Witt and Clay Witt; and a brother, Fred A. Hardy Jr. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel with Ministers Bob McCaskill and Gene Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Fulk's honor to either the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
