KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Leo Ray Tuttle, 70, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Tuttle was born March 19, 1930, in Forsyth County, a son of the late James Laurston and May Belle Ingram Tuttle. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Laura Pinnix. Surviving are his wife, Doris Barnes Tuttle of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Wendi Tuttle of Kernersville; a granddaughter and husband, Joey and Don Geller III; great-grandson Nicolas Pegram; brother and sister-in-law Gene and Jeanne Tuttle; and stepgrandchildren Brandon and Brianna Baughman. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory by the Rev. Howard Fleming. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. WRIGHT

NEWPORT, Va. - Annie Ball Wright, 73, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the New River Valley Medical Center. She was born in Winston-Salem Oct. 30, 1927, to the late Richard Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Aaron Ball. She is survived by her husband, Douglas C. Wright Sr.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Gale and Everett Stowers, Kathy and Les Nester all of Newport, Robin and Holt Hottel of Christiansburg, Va., and Lila and Lee Owens of Salem, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, D. Caudill Jr. and Debbie Wright of Roanoke, Va. and Steve and Kathy Wright of Christiansburg; 15 grandchildren, Penny Harless and husband Chuck, Jacquie Peyton and husband David, Adam Wright and wife Robin, Glenn Stowers, Zach Wright, Christie Martinez, Rhonda Ervine, Melissa Gregory and husband Dan, Jeff Nester and wife Kimber, Ashley Wright, Matthew Wright, Meghan Hottel, Conley Owens, Kyle Owens and Malia Owens; and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001, in the Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg, Va., with the Rev. John LeMasters officiating. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Christian School, 2120 N. Main St., Blacksburg, VA 24060. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.

ALLAN

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Services for Kenneth M. Allan, 94, father of Peter Allan of Winston-Salem, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church before the service. Memorials may be made to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 N. Trenhelm Road, Columbia, SC 29206 or First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1159, Smithfield, NC 27577. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, is in charge. Mr. Allan died March 5, 2001, in Raleigh, where he had lived since moving from Columbia in 1998. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to South Carolina in 1951 and was a retired consulting forester. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan and had a master's degree from Duke University. Surviving are a son, Peter Allan and wife Joan of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Martha Taylor and husband John of Clayton; two sisters in Ohio; seven grandchildren, including Laura Payne of High Point and Andrea Hicks of Clemmons; and nine great-grandchildren, including Jean Dent of East Bend and Cory and Andrew Payne of High Point. His wife of 64 years, Marjorie, preceded him in death.

BELL

HAMPTONVILLE - Mrs. Betty Jean Wood Bell, 63, of 4317 U.S. Highway 21 died Tuesday afternoon after a short illness at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston Salem. Betty was born in Surry County Feb. 7, 1938, to the late Archie Leonard Wood and Edith Mae Davis Wood. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Bell, and a son, James Dale Chipman. She was a retired beautician and had worked at Brintle's Truck Stop as a cashier as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. Surviving are her mother, Edith Davis Wood of Dobson; a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and David Cockerham of Dobson; a loving niece and her husband, Tonda and Allen Tyndall of King; and a lifetime of special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday March 9, 2001, at Salem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrell Tate conducting the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Her body will remain at Davis & Son Funeral Home in Dobson until carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the services. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Thursday at Davis & Son Funeral Home and other times at her mother's home in Dobson. Flowers will be permitted or memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 430 Rockford Road, Dobson, N.C., or in c/o Jobie Draughn, P.O. Box 32, Dobson, NC 27017.

BULLINS

MAYODAN - Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bullins, 77, of Mount Villa Apt. 3H died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden. A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2001, at Mayodan Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Bullins was a native of Stokes County and had resided in Rockingham County for the past 40 years and retired from Washington Mills in 1986. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bullins; her parents, Rob and Carrie Welch Farmer; a sister, Eva Hazlip; and brothers Walker and Daniel Farmer. She is survived by her sister, Pearl Webb and husband Pete of Winston-Salem; brothers John Farmer and wife Pat of Marion, S.C. and Glenn Farmer and wife Felicia of Mayodan; and several nieces and nephews. Lizzie loved her family very much, and they loved her, and she will be missed by all of them. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service and all other times at the home of Glenn and Felicia Farmer, 207 13th Ave., Mayodan, NC 27027. Ray Funeral Home in Madison is serving the Bullins and Farmer families. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, to please make memorial contributions to the Mayodan Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 327 N. Second Ave., Mayodan, NC 27027.

BURCHETTE

Mrs. Daphne Hauser Burchette, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, 80, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the home of her son. Mrs. Burchette was born July 23, 1920, in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Orville Elester and Emma Victoria Bowers Hauser. She was a member of the Hiatt Memorial United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Surviving are a son, Ronald Eugene Burchette and wife Tommie of Walkertown; two daughters, Jeanette Stubban and husband Leighton of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Barbara Waddell and husband Gray of Winston-Salem; a brother, Hansel E. Hauser of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2001, at the Hayworth-Miller-Cain Chapel by the Rev. Sybil Parks and the Rev. Frank Shumate. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 1100-C S. BUTNER

KING - Ms. Virginia McGee Butner, 68, died at her home Tuesday morning, March 6, 2001, after a lengthy period of declining health. A native of Stokes County, she was born on Nov. 16, 1932, to the late Ernest William and Lillian Vaughn McGee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mack and Bob McGee, and two sisters, Phyllis Isaac and Margie Garner. Ms. Butner was a member of the Pinnacle Baptist Church where she was the church pianist for many years. She was a retired CNA from Metro Nursing, where she was employed as a private home nurse. In past years Virginia was an avid bowler, spending much time at Northside Lanes. Surviving are three sisters, Inez Tuttle of Winston-Salem, Betty James of King, and Kay Mykytyn of Vero Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Aldeen McGee of King, and Virgil McGee and wife Janie also of King; a special godson, Zachary McGee; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Pinnacle Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Jerry Tedder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7 to 9 this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Rural Hall Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Pinnacle Baptist Church, Pinnacle, NC 27043.

CAMPBELL

Mrs. Louise Richardson Campbell, daughter of Sam and Mary Richardson was born Aug. 4, 1906, in Darlington, S.C. She attended school in Darlington County but had resided in Winston-Salem for approximately 80 years. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John CME Church. Family visitation hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday with Ritualistic services by Sethos Court, daughter of Isis at St. John CME Church. (Forsyth)

DeBRUHL

Mrs. Catherine Hughes DeBruhl, 82, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 20, 1918, in Buncombe County to George Emmett and Love Thomas Hughes. Mrs. DeBruhl was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and had retired from Tar Heel Railroad Construction Co. Inc. Preceding her in death were her husband of 45 years, Max W. DeBruhl Sr., and a son, Max W. DeBruhl Jr. Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Love Linton and husband Donn C., who was a devoted caregiver to Mrs. DeBruhl, and a daughter-in-law, Lynn C. DeBruhl, all of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Bradley C. Linton of Charlotte, Laura C. Linton of Orlando, Fla., Max W. DeBruhl III, Dawn Love Boyer and husband Dan, Martin K. DeBruhl and wife Rebecca and Deborah Faith Burns and husband Will, all of Winston-Salem; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Duncan of Asheville; and num-erous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by Dr. Bob Nations. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Green Hill cemetery in Asheville. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Research Center, 919 N. EVERHART

Richard Coman Everhart of Welcome died Tuesday March 6, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County March 28, 1920, to Willie Coman and Zeffie Darr Everhart. Mr. Everhart was a member of Elon Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. Mr. Everhart was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Yokeley Everhart; a great-grandson, Jacob Charles Kepley and a brother, Connie Everhart. Richard is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Susan Koonts and husband Jimmy and Mrs. Vickey Kepley and husband Charles of Welcome; a son, Richard "Rick" Coman Everhart Jr. and wife Judy of Arcadia; six grandchildren, Timothy Charles Kepley and wife Tiffany, Wendy Kepley Dameron, Richard Scott Everhart, Amy Everhart Canovia and husband Travis, Christy Koonts Benson and husband Scott and Amanda LeeAnn Koonts; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Gallimore, Madison Keenan, Hailey Dameron, Wesley Chase Everhart, Payton McKenize Everhart and Emma Catherine Benson. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001, at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. James Chatham and the Rev. Jim Bates officiating. HAYNES

HAMPTONVILLE - Mr. H.L. Haynes, 59, passed away Tuesday March 6, 2001, at Yadkin Nursing Center. He was born in Yadkin County to the late Harvey and Samantha Cheek Haynes. His funeral arrangements are incomplete, with Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville serving the family.

KEY

Mr. Charles Alexander Key Sr., 78, of Winston-Salem, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Carthage to Sidney Russell and Minnie Mooney Key. Mr. Key served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 aboard the USS Wyoming. Mr. Key loved the automotive market. He co-founded Auto Supply Co. Inc. in January 1954. He continued his career by founding Salem Automotive Warehouse in 1968, Key Parts Inc. in 1972 and Auto Paint & Equipment Co. in 1973. His business interests included ownership of the former Bethania Golf Club in the 1980s and a partnership in Granada Farms Golf Club (Granite Falls, NC) during the '70s, '80s and '90s. Mr. Key retired in 1996. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann White; a granddaughter, Wendy Danielle Luper; two grandsons, Todd Daniel and Ralph Clinton Luper; two brothers, Russell R. Key and Hugh L. Key; two sisters, Estelle Victoria Key and Opal Irene Key; and a sister-in-law, Ruby K. Eller. Surviving are Maeola B. Key of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Carla Key Luper and husband Dan of Winston-Salem; a son, Charles A. Key Jr. and wife Karen of Advance; a son-in-law, Odell White of Granite Falls; two granddaughters, Sarah Keagan White and Kimberly Jane Luper; three grandsons, Charles Andrew Key, Chase Alexander Key and Joshua Odell White; five sisters, Kathlyn Hauser and husband Herb, and Edith Gordon and husband Wallace, all of Winston-Salem, Jennie Rutledge and husband Joe of Burlington, Carole Merritt and husband Earl of Jamestown, and Helen Key of King; and a sister-in-law, Betsy W. Key of Wilmington. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. LADD

Mrs. Dessie Myers Ladd, 93, of Meadowbrook Manor, Clemmons, died Tuesday March 6, 2001. She was born in Davie County to Mr. Charlie A. and Sarah Vaughn Myers. Mrs. Ladd worked during World War II at Duplan Corporation making parachutes, and after the war was a devoted homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and an avid gardener. Mrs. Ladd was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Leonard Ladd; two sons, Henry W. and Clint J. Ladd; six brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Alma Jean and Curtis Todd of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Allen L. Todd and wife Astrid and Paul D. Todd of Winston-Salem, Deborah L. Craven and husband Lee of Midway, Vicki K. Weildburg and husband Eric and Mary Ladd, both of Stockton, Calif.; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral ser-vices will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday March 9, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Troutman officiating. Interment will be at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Thursday at the funeral home. KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Darrell Eugene Lambert, 69, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Lambert was born March 19, 1931, in Radford, Va., a son of the late Elbert and Stella Howell Lambert. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Lambert was a retiree of Highland Industries after 34 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jackie Lambert. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Oma Cox Lambert of the home; two daughters, Connie Lambert Eaton and husband Anthony and their son Scott of Germanton, and Sandra Lambert Barker and husband Darrell and their children, Ian, Eryka, and stepchildren Kevin and Jessica of Winston-Salem; a son, Jimmie D. Lambert and wife Lisa and their children, Kristi and Jason of Kernersville; and a sister, Nadine Bridges of Bland, Va. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2001, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home.

LONG

Mrs. Eva York Long died Saturday, March 3, 2001. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2001, at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1016 N. Trade St., Winston-Salem, with Dr. Jerry Drayton, Pastor officiating. She is survived by a very special cousin, Ms. Eva Foster of Greensboro; cousins Mr. William Turner (Elouise) of North Wilkesboro, Mrs. Pauline Brown (Ralph) of Greensboro, Mrs. Elaine Morrisey (Romeo) of Fairfax, Va., Mr. Preston Haygood (Patricia) of Charlotte and Ms. Hillis Haygood of Durham; and a dog named Sassy. Family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hargett Funeral Service of Greensboro.

McDANIEL

MOCKSVILLE - Mrs. Edna Gelene Jolly McDaniel, 65, of Rolling Wood Drive passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. McDaniel was born Feb. 4, 1936, in Davie County to the late George W. and Cora Jones Jolly and was preceded in death by a sister, Dot Hellard. She was a member of Dulin United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Bobby B. McDaniel of Mocksville; a son, Keith B. McDaniel and wife Bonnie of Mocksville; a daughter, Renee Spry and husband Tim of Advance; three grandchildren, Jason Daniel, P.J. Cope and Braxton McDaniel; and a sister, Peggy Seaford of Advance. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2001,at Dulin United Methodist Church, with Dr. Bob McLawhorn and the Rev. Ray O'ferrel officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Davie Funeral Service Chapel. Mem-orials may be made to the American Lung Association, 3409-D W.
