Mrs. Annette Jean Harris Jones, 60, of 3350 Silas Creek Parkway passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born in York, S.C., on April 27, 1941, to Albertine Johnson and the late Robert Lee Harris. She was a member of the Ambassadors Cathedral and a retired employee of Forsyth Medical Center. She is survived by her mother, Albertine A. Johnson; sons Steven Harris, Kelvin Harris and Terry Harris, Steve Jones and Gerald (Pat) Harris; brothers Author (Lillian) Anderson, William Anderson, Hazel Anderson, Fred (Mag) Anderson, James (Vanner) Johnson and Larry (Blondell) Johnson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; aunts and an uncle, Rose M. McClinton, Mary Dunbar and James Albert Johnson of Rock Hill, S.C.; a special cousin, Rose Anderson; a lifelong friend, Mrs. "Mea Helen;" and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Ambassadors Cathedral, with Bishop F.D. Patterson offic-iating. Interment will be in Pied-mont Memorial Gardens. KNIGHT

ENKA - Mr. Terry Allen Knight, 57, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Memorial Mission Hospital after a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Charles Zebulon and Willie Louise Haney Knight and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Wiggins; a brother, Charles Patrick Knight; and a sister, Sandra Knight Correll. Surviving are his former wife and mother of his children, Wanda Banks Knight of Enka; his daughters, Terry Louise Knight of Asheville and Tina Knight Keller of Kernersville; and his grandchildren, Cody Joe Huffman, Sarah Louise Huffman, Joshua Allen Huffman and Bonnie Anne Huffman. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, Ash-eville, with Pastor Mark Nieting officiating. Burial will be in River-side cemetery. MARTIN

DOBSON (ROCKFORD COM-MUN-ITY) - Mr. Nicholas Adam Martin, 17, of 1086 Rockford Road passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, Nov. 28, 2001, as a result of an auto accident in Surry County. He was born Sept. 24, 1984, in Forsyth County to Calvin Lee and Jill Dobson Martin. Mr. Martin was a student at Starmount High School, where he was a captain of the football team, and a member of the basketball team, baseball team, National Honor Society, Show Choir and Fellow-ship of Christian Athletes. He was a D.A.R.E. role model and a mem-ber of Clarks Memorial Baptist Church in Boonville. He is survived by his loving mother, Jill D. Martin of the home; two sisters and a brother-in-law, twin sister, Meredith A. Martin of the home and Kelly Harding and husband Julian of Laurel, Md.; a niece, Ryan Dobson of Laurel, Md.; and a special aunt, Rebekah J. Dobson-Williams of Boonville. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Lee Martin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Star-mount High School, conducted by the Rev. Ruby Clark. Interment will follow in the Clarks Memorial Baptist Church, Boonville. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Starmont High School. MOSLEY

Emmie Wyl Richardson Mosley of Independence Village on Reynolda Road passed away Nov. 27, 2001, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Hawkinsville, Ga., on Sept. 16, 1919, to Henry Grady and Bennie Lancaster Richardson. She was the widow of William Benjamin Mosley of Starkville, Miss., and lived in Atlanta for many years. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church. She is sur-vived by her son, William Sanders Mosley and wife Elizabeth "Lisa" Hicks Mosley; and three grand-children, Mark Whaley Mosley of Raleigh, Benjamin Sanders Mosley of St. Louis and Lisa Elaine Mosley of Winston-Salem. The funeral will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Nov. 30, 2001, at Forsyth Memorial Park cemetery on Yadkinville Road. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Norman and Wally Grandy. Visitation is at the home of her son, 1855 Runny-meade Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27104 immediately after the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. TEMPLETON

Mr. Eugene Coyt Templeton, 62, of Davidson County passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Forsyth County to Coyt V. and Reba Mahaffey Templeton. Mr. Templeton was in the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, O.R. Palmer Jr. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Mrs. Margaret Sue Palmer Templeton of the home; a daughter, Jana Fields (husband Tim) of Pleasant Garden; and a son, Alex Templeton of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Ally Fields of Pleasant Garden and Justin Templeton of North Carolina; a brother, Durward Templeton (wife Betty); a sister, Sue Styers (husband Frank); a special uncle, Hayden Mahaffey (wife Dot); a special aunt, Linda Peoples and her son Claude; his mother-in-law, Elsie L. Palmer; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; and a special friend, Sarah Ellis of Deerfield, Fla. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Mr. Bill Teague officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in memory of Mr. Templeton.

WILLIAMSON

Nina Kelley Webb Williamson died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, after a brief illness. Born July 9, 1922, in Forsyth County, she was the daughter of George Lee Kelley Sr. and Elsie Eanes. An avid painter and watercolorist, Nina spent a lifetime devoted to the arts, transferring her love of color, nature and form to all who knew her. The widow of Robert Arlington Webb of Princeton, N.J., and John Clark Williamson of Raleigh, she was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Mickey; a brother, George Lee Jr.; and three sisters-in-law, Helen Terwilliger Kelley, Ann Fuqua Kelley and Josephine Blakely Kelley. She is survived by her two daughters, Victoria Webb of South Bend, Ind., and Gina Webb of Atlanta; and her son, Robert Howard Webb of Raleigh. Also surviving are her sister, Martha Fare of Belews Creek; and four brothers, Rush of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael of St. Louis, Mo., William and wife Sylvia of Roanoke, Va., and Richard and wife Anne of Rural Hall; two sisters-in-law, Dulcie (Carl) Williamson of Raleigh and Edith (George) Kelley of Cary; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at noon Dec. 1 at the Jacksonville cemetery in Floyd, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to The N.C. Arts Council; or an arts organization of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel, Winston-Salem.

BAILEY

GASTONIA - Mr. William "Bill" David Bailey Jr., 88, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001. Mr. Bailey was a native of Winston-Salem, a retired district plant manager from Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co. with more than 41 years of service, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gastonia and the Builders Sunday-school class, a member and past president of Gastonia Kiwanis Club in 1967, a member of the Foothills Telephone Pioneer Club and the president from 1970 to 1971. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents, William David Bailey and Etta Pardue Bailey, and four sisters. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gladys Smith Bailey; a daughter, Barbara Anne Bailey Murr of Greensboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Catherine Bailey Gray and John H. Gray III, M.D., of Winston-Salem; a grandson and spouse, Robert David and Sharon Jones Murr of Matthews; granddaughters Carole Bailey Murr of San Francisco and Amy Elizabeth Gray and Emily Anne Gray, both of Winston-Salem; and a great-grandson, Grayson Bailey Murr of Matthews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, with the Rev. Jack Kayler and Dr. Jody Seymour officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park. Keith Smith, Samuel Childress, Robert David Murr, and John H. Gray III will be serving as pallbearers. BURNS

Mr. John S. "J.S." Burns, 68, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1933, in Guilford County to John Shelton Burns Sr. and Ella Dixon Burns. Mr. Burns graduated from James B. Gray High School in 1951. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, returning to work for A&P Grocery Store for 27 years, including managing Sherwood Plaza and Stratford Road stores. He concluded his work career as a realtor for Lambe-Young Caldwell Bankers, retiring after 17 years of performing work he truly enjoyed. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Selwyn Miller Burns of the home; a daughter, Karen M. Burns of Santa Fe, N.M.; a sister, Carolyn Gentry and husband Bill of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Tracy A. Joyce of Chapel Hill and Adam N. Crenshaw of Chimayo, N.M.; two nephews, Robert Gentry of Winston-Salem and Gary Gentry and wife Tracy of Durham; three brothers-in-law, R. Douglas Miller of Winston-Salem, David Miller and wife Kathi of Tifton, Ga., and John A. Miller of Wilmington. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Forsyth Memorial Park, with the Rev. DANIELS

LEWISVILLE - Mr. Laurice Lee "Dan" Daniels died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Duke Hospital Medical Center. Mr. Daniels was born in Atlantic, the son of Coast Guardsman Lee Daniels and Tamsy Hill Daniels. He was a graduate of Atlantic Christian (now Barton College) in Wilson, where he was active in campus activities. He was a member of the Phi Delta Gamma fraternity and was the business manager of the college annual. Mr. Daniels served in the U.S. Army in the occupation forces in Germany. He taught school in Forsyth and Davidson counties, then he joined Western Electric Co., retiring after 27 years as a technical writer. During retirement, he was an active volunteer, serving at Contact, Crisis Control, and at the reading lab in Yadkinville School. Mr. Daniel was an accomplished pianist and his most recent study of piano was at the N.C. School of the Arts. He was a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. His parents; a sister, Martha Ricks; a niece, Pamela Ricks; and a nephew, Wade Ricks, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hauser Daniels; a daughter, Emily Daniels Melear; a son-in-law, Dr. Nathan Melear; a granddaughter, Moira-Nyah Melear, all of Watkinsville, Ga.; an extended family, Dr. Claude Melear and Hewitt Gehres of Knoxville, Tenn., Mr. Jerrell Melear of Fairburn, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Horton of Louisburg and Mrs. Guelda Raeburn of Morehead City; two nieces, Mrs. Barbara Hernandez of Belsair, Wash. and Ms. Janet Kimbrough of Louisburg; and three nephews, Steve Raeburn of Morehead City, Fred Raeburn of Pelham, N.Y. and Bruce Babbitt of Atlantic. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Clemmons Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. DEHART

Mr. Norman Bunyon DeHart Sr., 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Salemtowne Retirement Community. Mr. DeHart was born in Swain County on Oct. 11, 1909, to Andrew Jackson and Nola Slagle DeHart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Barker DeHart; and a son, Jack DeHart. Mr. DeHart was a self-employed antique dealer before his retirement. He is survived by a daughter, Ruth Bailey; two sons, Norman B. DeHart Jr. and James DeHart; a daughter-in-law, Merinda DeHart; eight grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother; and five sisters. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Forsyth Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. J. Marion Rector. HANSLEY

Mr. Michael Leon Hansley Sr., 38, passed away at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001. He was born April 5, 1963, in Forsyth County to Marvin F. and Mary P. Hansley of Winston-Salem. He was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church and graduated from East Forsyth High School. He is survived by Fonda Brown and their son, Michael Leon Hansley Jr.; his significant other, Rhonda Lane; his parents, Marvin F. and Mary P. Hansley; five sisters, Marlene Hansley, Mary Frances Butt, Marcia A. Hansley, Miranda Hansley Snow and Maria F. Hansley; a brother, Marvin F. (Sonny) Hansley Jr.; two nieces; and five nephews. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Ray Troutman and Dr. Henry May officiating. MOSLEY

NELSON

CHICAGO - Mrs. Minnie B. Nelson of 7250 S. Damen Ave. has taken flight at the call of her heavenly father Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, in Chicago. She was born Oct. 21, 1921, to Clarence and Aurelia Gilliam in Switzer, S.C. She was an active member of the Church of the Living God until her health failed. She attended public schools in Winston-Salem. She moved to Chicago where she was a nurse at the VA Hospital, from which she retired. She later attended Moody Bible Theological School, where she earned a teach-ing certificate in Christian educa-tion. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Roy Nelson Jr.; two daughters, Aurelia Earles of Chicago and Ellen McCloud of Winston-Salem; three brothers, James Gilliam (Margaret), Cleve-land Gilliam (Carretha) and Clarence Gilliam Jr. (Anna), all of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Rosa Curry of Lexington Park, Md. and Dorothy Withers (Clem) of Winston-Salem; six grandchil-dren, Teresa Tooles (Dennis), Deborah Williams (James), Joyce Aikens, Sonya Jennings, Angela Lindsey (Tyrone) and Bryon Earles (Jennifer); 10 great-grandchildren; Ester Hayes, a sister in Christ; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and other family members. PRUITT

Margaret Louise Weavil Pruitt, 78, of 5680 Windy Hill Drive died Nov. 24, 2001. She was born Oct. 4, 1923, to Daniel Levi and Doris Wood Weavil. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold L. Weavil. She is survived by three sons, Matthew and wife Amy, David and wife Sherry and Timothy and wife Debbie; two granddaughters, Alex and Meghann Pruitt; a grandson, James Pettit; a step-grandson, Kyle Eakers; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sarah W. Welch and Frances W. (Henry E.J.) Long; three nieces, a nephew; and a great-nephew. Mrs. Pruitt graduated from Rural Hall High School and Ellerbe Radio School (She was sent to work for the Fort Monmouth lab in Ausbury Park, N.J., during World War II). She graduated from Lees McCrae College in Banner Elk in 1950. She retired from the civil service after 23 years of service. Her last assignment was chief medical librarian in the Asheville VA Hospital. She moved to Winston-Salem in 1983 and retired from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel with the Rev. Grace O'Neal officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service. Inurnment will be in St. John's Episcopal cemetery, Valley Crucis. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at The Nursing Center at Oak Summit for its loving care to Mrs. Pruitt for the past year. SMITH

Mrs. Bonnell "Bonnie" Spainhour Smith, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Smith was born April 26, 1927, to Harvey and Sadie Carroll Spainhour in Stokes County. She attended New Life Mission Church in High Point and lived most of her life in Guilford and Forsyth counties. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Haven Bowers Spainhour, and a sister, Ruth Spainhour Shore. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Vestal and husband Sam of Winston-Salem; two stepgrand-sons, Mark Vestal and wife Sherri of Greensboro and John Vestal and wife Patty of Wilmington, Ohio; and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Deep River Friends cemetery in High Point. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

SMITH

STATE ROAD - Mr. Fred Sanders Smith, 67, of Golden Road passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Smith was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Surry County to Raymond and Versie Whitaker Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from the N.C. Department of Transpor-tation. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Dolly Henley Smith of the home; a son, Richard Barry Smith of Hamptonville; a stepdaughter, Pamela Miller of Yadkinville; two brothers, Roy Smith of State Road and Eldon Smith of Michigan; and a grandchild, Jessica Miller of Yadkinville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Danny Henley, the Rev. Finley McCoury and the Rev. Mike Allen. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.

Barbee

KINSTON - Mr. Thomas Gray Barbee, 87, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Harborview Health Care Center in Morehead City. Mr. Barbee was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Durham to the late William Fredrick Barbee and Ilah Reynolds Barbee. He lived in Winston-Salem most of his life and was a graduate of Old Town High School, Class of 1933. Mr. Barbee married Ruby Groner Oct. 29, 1939. She preceded him in death June 28, 1999. He was with Merita Bakery for 40 years, and was sales manager at the time of his retirement. Mr. Barbee was a member of Home Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. He had lived in Kinston since 1967. Mr. Barbee also was preceded in death by his three sisters, Mrs. Burke (Emma Frances) Flynt of Greensboro, Mrs. Claude (Elizabeth) D. Lewis of Reidsville, and Mrs. Joe (Sally) Phillips of Winston-Salem. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Morcock of Frederick, Md., and Mrs. Allen (Janet) Vail of Morehead City; two grandchildren, David Morcock and Sarah Morcock Snider; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel. The Rev. Lehoma B. Goode and Pastor Clay Ogren of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Kinston will officiate. Burial will follow in the Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
