KING - Pansy Preston "Bubba" Rogers, 75, of School Street died at her home Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001. She was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Stokes County to Noble Elmer and Vassie Emma White Preston. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church and had retired from Growers Tobacco Warehouse in Winston-Salem. Surviving are her husband, John William Rogers of the home; a daughter, Diane Boyles Hicks and husband Mark; a grandson, John Steven Boyles; and a sister, Iris Kirby, all of King. The family would like to thank special family and friends including Yvenna and Garfield Hicks, Bob and Gaye Smith and Steve and Alice Ledford. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church cemetery in King, with the Rev. Marshall Boyles officiating. The family may be contacted at the home, 121 School St., King. STINSON

BOONVILLE - Mr. Jimmy E. Stinson, 70, formerly of Boonville, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at his home, Yadkin Nursing Center, with his friends. He was born July 8, 1931, in Forsyth County to Gorrell R. and Lura Hobson Stinson. Mr. Stinson was a farmer, a member of Charity Baptist Church and a member of Yadkin Masonic Lodge No. 162 A.F.&A.M. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Garlyn Ann "Sissy" Stinson; and a brother, Bob Stinson. Surviving are his stepmother, Gladys A. Stinson of Winston-Salem; a son, Tim Stinson; a daughter-in-law, Kay Stinson; a grandson, Brent Stinson; a granddaughter, Scarlett S. (John) Dalrymple; two great-grandchildren; his former wife, Joy Stinson; and a stepsister, Kay Stone. The family of Mr. Stinson will have a graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Charity Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Eddie Driver. The burial will be at Charity Baptist Church cemetery with Masonic Rites by Yadkin Masonic Lodge No. 162 A.F.&A.M. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charity Baptist Church cemetery Fund, 1500 Charity Church Road, Boonville, NC 27011. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the family.

ATKINS

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Ruth Burger Atkins, 73, of 200 N. King St. died Dec. 25, 2001, at Britt-haven of Madison. A graveside funeral service will be led by the Rev. Mike Smith at 11 a.m. Friday at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church cemetery in Colfax. Mrs. Atkins was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by two children, Beverly Jean Atkins and Timothy Wayne Atkins. She is survived by five daughters, Linda Stafford of Winston-Salem, Debra Taylor of Kernersville, Pamela Harris of Georgia, Sandra Atkins of New Orleans and Kimberly Bolejack of Kernersville; four sons, Jack Atkins of Winston-Salem, Douglas Atkins of Winston-Salem, Richard Atkins of Kernersville, and Carey Atkins of Oak Ridge; a sister, Oakley Williams of Greensboro; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hanes-Lineberry, Pierce Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to ARCA Inc., 1931 Union Cross Road, Kernersville, NC 27103; or to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 9856 McNeill Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.

BRISTOW

TROY - Oscar Eugene "Gene" Bristow, 71, of 104 Brown St. died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at First Health Montgomery Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at First Wesleyan Church, Hwy 134 N., conducted by the Rev. Douglas W. Beadle. Burial will follow in Southside cemetery on South Main Street. Mr. Bristow was a native of Hoke County. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a retired automobile dealer. Surviv-ors include a sister, Polly Brown of Troy, formerly of Winston-Salem; a brother, Bill Bristow of Raleigh; and a loving pet, Jimbo. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at the Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., and at other times at the home of Bill Bristow, 517 Wooley St. Arrangements by Pugh-Troy Funeral Home.

DARNELL

ELKIN - Mrs. Tessie Marie Darnell, 84, of Pleasant Hill Drive passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Elkin Healthcare Center. Mrs. Darnell was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Wilkes County to Frank and Sara Etta. Mrs. Darnell was retired from Ronda Chair Company and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Pardue; a granddaughter, Christy Bell; a great-grandson, Justin Bell Hagwood; three brothers, Grady Carter, Odell Carter and Garvey Carter; three sisters, Flora Carter, Stella Carter and Ethel Wishon; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Gayle Darnell of Jonesville, and Donnie and Susan Darnell of Elkin; a daughter and son-in-law, Lola and Don Bell of State Road; two brothers, Russell Carter of Elkin, and Gilvin Carter of North Wilkesboro; a sister Beulah Loper of State Road; six grandchildren; a step-grand-child; seven great-grand-children; two stepgreat-grand-children; a special niece, Geraldine Nichol-son of Elkin; and a special friend, Lisa Phillips of Wilkesboro. Fun-eral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Ivan Dameron and the Rev. Hubert Wishon. Burial followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery Fund.

EVERHART

Clarence Neil Everhart Sr., 80, of 304 Park Ridge Circle died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001. He was born March 12, 1921, in Forsyth County, a son of Rilley Leroy and Frankie Johnson Everhart. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army's Eighth Air Force in the European theater from January 1943 to August 1944. He received the Air Medal with three oak leaves, a Purple Heart, three Bronze Stars and a Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Ms. Carol Sue Everhart Starling of Winston-Salem; four sons, Robert E. "Bob" Everhart and wife Patsy of Winston-Salem, Clarence Neil Everhart Jr. and wife Judy of Advance, Leroy Wilson Everhart and wife Vickie of Kernersville, and Jack David Everhart and wife Kathie of Pinnacle; a brother, the Rev. Richard F. Everhart of Lewisville; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Everhart, and a sister, Helen O'Brien Mendenhall. A memorial service will be con-ducted at 3 p.m. Friday at North-west Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy McKinney. The family will receive friends from 2 until 2:45 p.m. Friday at the church. FLETCHER

INDIAN TRAIL - Mr. Jerry Eugene Fletcher 55, a native of Boonville, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at the Union Medical Center in Monroe. Mr. Fletcher was born May 18, 1946, in Surry County to Charles and Ollie Smith. He was an accountant for 30 years with Conbraco Industries of Matthews, and he was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Moose Lodge and the Boonville Baptist Church. Sur-viving are his wife, Betty Fletcher of the home; his parents of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Sharon Pennington of Macon, Ga., and Judy Hine of Winston-Salem; four aunts, Ethel Brown, Ola Martin, Faye (Don) Miller, and Molly Smitherman, all of Boon-ville; an uncle, Sanford Baity of Boonville; and four nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Boonville Baptist Church by Brady Morrison. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service at Boonville Baptist Church. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is assisting the family.

GREENE

Miss Marguerite Ruth Greene, 86, of Brookridge Retirement Home died Monday Dec. 24, 2001. She was born June 21, 1915, in Granville County to the late Alexander S. and Cornie Gooch Greene. Miss Greene was a retired registered nurse and surgical supervisor at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital for 28 years. She was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Sylvia Hanley of Winston-Salem and Lucille Hebert of Michigan; two brothers, Atlas Greene of Michigan, and Bobby Greene of Oxford, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be con-ducted at 1 p.m. Friday Dec. 28, 2001, at Sunset Gardens in Henderson, by the Rev. Craig Troutman. There will be no stated visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27405.

GULLEDGE

Mr. James Clarence Gulledge, 84, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Britthaven in Kernersville. He was born May 12, 1917, in Louisville, Ala., to James Thomas and Matilda Sharpe Gulledge. Mr. Gulledge was a member of Central Tabernacle and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a most-loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Gulledge of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Judy Doss and husband Charles of Winston-Salem, and Barbara Carter and husband Morris of McLeansville; two sons, James P. Gulledge of Stuart, Fla., and Steven C. Gulledge and wife Carrie of Welcome; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Lisa Miller, Mrs. Candy Brown, Ms. Shannon Gulledge, Jay Gulledge, Ms. Olivia Gulledge, Charles M. Carter, Travis Gulledge, Jenna Gulledge, and Dylan Gulledge; a great-grandchild, Skyler Gulledge; and a brother, Franklin "Ted" Gulledge of Winston-Salem. Funeral ser-vices will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hay-worth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Sandra Bovender and Robert Bell officiating. Entombment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park Maus-oleum. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

HARRIS

RURAL HALL - Donald Joe Harris, 57, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001. He was born March 13, 1944, to Charlie Daniel and Josie Edwards Harris. Surviving are his wife, Diane Harris; a son, Davie L. Harris; two daughters, Tonya H. Ford and Dianna H. Robbins; his mother, Josie E. Harris; four grandchildren; three sisters; a brother; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 4 this afternoon at Hay-worth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Jimmy Bowen. The family will receive friends after the service. Burial will be in Forsyth Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Friday.

HENDERSON

HAMPTONVILLE - Mrs. Effie Trivette Henderson, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hender-son was born May 19, 1913, in Yadkin County to Lazarus and Martha Ellen Crater Trivette. She was a homemaker, a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, and a charter member of the Shiloh WMU. Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Smith Henderson; five brothers, Lee, Paul, Charlie, Bruce and Hubert Trivette; and a sister, Cleo T. Crater. Surviving are six children, Garry (Linda) Henderson of Asheville, Tony (Kay) Henderson of Clemmons, Gay Nell H. (Jeff) Allen of Marianna, Fla., Tim Henderson of Winston-Salem, and George Lynn (Kim) Henderson of Hamptonville; a daughter-in-law; Carolyn M. Henderson of Hamptonville, nine grandchildren, Reneé Wishon, Wayne Henderson, Debbie Reavis, Kaye Walsh, Michelle Henderson, Laura Brannon, Holly Henderson, Justin Henderson, Brock Hender-son; eight great-grandchildren; Andrew Wishon, Krysten Wishon, Jennifer Hutchens, Michael Henderson, Ryan Henderson, April Reavis, Tracy Reavis, and Chelsea Reavis; special children Leigh Anne Shore and Darin Thomasson; a sister, Grace T. Upchurch of Winston-Salem; four sisters-in-law, Etta Trivette, Daisy Trivette, Estelle Henderson and Lucille Windsor. The funeral service for Mrs. Henderson will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Shiloh Baptist Church by the Rev. Jim Holbrook, Rev. Clint Branch and Rev. Dwight Dowell. Mrs. Henderson will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Gentry Family Funeral Home, 5108 U.S. 601 N., Yadkinville. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, Youth Department, 5532 St. Paul Church Road, Hampton-ville, NC 27020.

WALNUT COVE - Mrs. Ida Mae Abbott Ingram, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County to the late William Louis and Bertha Pergason Abbott. She was a member of Pine Ridge Primitive Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Preceding her in death were her husband, Willie Sampson Ingram, and her daughter, Willie Mae Ingram Wood. Surviving are a daughter, Patsy Ingram Tysor of Walnut Cove; a brother, S.W. Abbott of Belews Creek; a granddaughter, Kathy Tysor Dillon and husband Joseph; four grandsons, James Eldridge Tysor, Ricky Lee Tysor, Dwight David Wood and wife Vicky, and Steven Ray Wood and wife Donna; five great-grand-children, Joshua and Elijah Ray Dillon, Jennifer Mae, Kristen Michelle and Steven Alexander Wood; and many nieces and nephews. An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Burroughs Funeral Chapel, with Elder J.D. Belton officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home and other times at the home. WALNUT COVE - Mrs. Gertrude Mozelle Bullington Inman, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001 at Walnut Cove Healthcare Center. She was born in Surry County to the late Walter and Loretta Lankford Bullington. She was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Preceding her in death were her husband, James Arthur Inman, and her daughter, Jolene Javan Inman in 1961. Surviving are two daughters, Joann Farmer of Walnut Cove and Jalane Hancock (Bill) of Walkertown; one son Jimmy Inman (Linda) of Winston-Salem; one sister and one brother, Maxie Dezern and Paul Bullington, both of Pinnacle; six grandchildren, Rhonda Farmer Cook and Monica Farmer Nelson, both of Walnut Cove, Brent Farmer of Hillsborough, Shane Inman of Tobaccoville, Brad Inman of Pinnacle and Levelle Windsor of Blacksburg, Va.; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001 at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home and at other times at the Joann Farmer's home. MARINO

CLEMMONS - Mr. Anthony "Tony" Marino, 70, of 525 Merrybrook Court, died Christ-mas morning at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born June 13, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph and Angela Russo Marino. Mr. Marino moved to Clemmons five years ago from New York. He had served with the Marine Corps. during the Korean conflict. He was retired from Eastern Airlines. Mr. Marino was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Ann Koch Marino; two sons, Vincent Marino and Michael Marino; a daughter, Angela Marino, all of the home; a brother, Frank Marino of New Salem, N.Y.; and a sister, Mildred Zafferese of California. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father Adrian officiating. The family will receive friends at Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. with a brief prayer service at 7:15 p.m., led by Deacon Michael Lansdorf. Burial will be Monday at the National cemetery in Salisbury.

McCOLLEM

BELEWS CREEK - Mr. Rosco Charles McCollem, 63, of 6146 Reidsville Road, died Wednesday Dec. 26, 2001, at his home. Mr. McCollem was born in Forsyth County, a son of the late John R. and Leola Vestal McCollem and was an employee of the Allied Machine Co. He attended the Smith Grove Baptist Church, and was a member of the New Birth Baptist Church in Walnut Cove. Surviving are his wife, Martha Beasley McCollem of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dale Chandler of Belews Creek; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Vickie McCollem of Germanton; two stepsons, Ricky Young and his wife Janet of Asheboro, and Marshall Young of Atlanta; five sisters, Lois Gregory of Greensboro, Hazel Hendrix, and Ann Reavis both of Kernersville, Pauline Macy of Danbury, and Jane Holt of Galax, Va.; four brothers, Raeford McCollem of Lewisville, Ralph McCollem of Kernersville, Robert McCollem of High Point, and Raymond McCollem of Stokesdale; two grandsons; and two granddaughters. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Chuck Peters with burial to follow in the Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston Salem, NC 27103.

McMICHAEL

GREENSBORO - Miss Jean McMichael, 76, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001. She was born April 11, 1925, in Forsyth County to the late John Erle and Pearl Covington McMichael. She was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem and the Woman's College of Greensboro. She was member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Erle McMichael Jr. She is survived by a sister, Sara M. Tyer and her husband, Steven of Greensboro; a nephew; three nieces; two great-nephews; and six great-nieces. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Vogler's Main Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Salem cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Triad Chapter, 202 CentrePort Drive, Greensboro, NC 27409.

MELTON

KING - Christopher Kyle Melton of Dewsberry Road, a 10-year-old son of Bruce Edward and Shari Renée Stapleton, died Wednes-day, Dec. 26, 2001. He was born July 16, 1991, in Ashland, Ky. Along with his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Tiffany Dawn and Ashley Reneé Melton, and a brother, Zackary Tyler Melton, all of the home; maternal grandmother Carma Stapleton of Ashland; and paternal grand-mother Dorthea Jean Melton Craig of Raceland, Ky. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Slate Funeral Home in King. Burial will follow in King Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
