MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Madison "Mac" Lee Weddle, 74, of 323 East Wilson Street, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Surry Community Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Fancy Gap Baptist Church.

ZAMIEROSKI

Mr. Leonard A. Zamieroski, 69, formerly of Regis Drive, Erie, Pa., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Erie, Pa., May 11, 1932, to Gerald and Cecilia Kowalski Zamieroski. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Erie Parks Department. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. He was an avid card player and golfer. Mr. Zamieroski was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Kierzek Zamieroski, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Marie McBride of Winston-Salem and Michelle Zamieroski and her fiance, Christopher Vigna, of Charlotte; a son, Gary M. Zamieroski, and wife, Amy, of Sterling, Va.; six grandchildren, Justin, Kirk and Max Zamieroski, Jacob, Casey and Morgan McBride; a sister, Alice Gallager, and husband, Lloyd, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Henry Zamieroski, and wife, Maxine, of Erie, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Vogler's Clemmons Chapel. The family will receive friends after the prayer service until 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church by Father Adrian Porras. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1900 S. Hawthorne Road, Forsyth Medical Park, Suite 622, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103, or to the Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27013.

ARNOLD

WEST JEFFERSON - Charles Vernon Arnold, 84, the husband of Beatrice Osborne Arnold, died Wednesday at Ashe Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Boone Family Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

BAHNSON

Dr. E. Reid Bahnson, 84, of Salemtowne the Moravian Retirement Community, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Winston-Salem to Frederic Fries Bahnson and Bleeker Reid Bahnson. He attended Central School, South Junior High School, Reynolds High School, Davidson College and was graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1938, Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Bahnson attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and was graduated in 1942 receiving the Alumni Medal for the highest academic average. He was a member of AOA Medical Fraternity. Dr. Bahnson served his internship and medical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was a medical officer in the U.S. Navy from July 1943 until May 1946, serving in the South Pacific. Dr. Bahnson began practice of internal medicine in Winston-Salem in September 1948. In February 1976 he became the medical director of Winston-Salem Health Care Plan Inc., retiring in October 1983. He served as medical director of Piedmont Airlines from 1952 until 1987, was the former president of Forsyth County Medical Society, and was president of the medical staff at City Memorial Hospital in 1964. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, president of the North Carolina Orchid Society, a member of the board of directors of the American Rhododendron Society (1990-91), of the Piedmont Chapter, president of the North Carolina Botanical Garden Foundation , a lifelong member of Home Moravian Church, a member of the Board of World Missions of the Moravian Church and served on the board of directors of the Moravian Home. He was a founding director of Trout Unlimited. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Louise Adler Bahnson of the Salemtowne Community; a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Bahnson Halajian and husband Kenneth of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.; a son, Edward Reid Bahnson Jr. and wife Diane of Girdwood, Alaska; two grandchildren Michael Reid Halajian and Samuel John Halajian; and a brother, Dr. Henry T. Bahnson of Pittsburgh, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Home Moravian Church by the Rev. Lehoma Goode and Dr. Robert Sawyer. Burial will follow in the Moravian Graveyard. Memorials may be given to N.C. Botanical Garden of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, CB 3375 Totten Center, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-3375 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

BETHEA

Mrs. Yvonne Rodell Truesdale Bethea, 58, of 5575 Shattalon Drive, known to all as Miss Bob, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at the Springwood Care Center of Forsyth after a period of illness. She was born June 2, 1943, to Mr. and Mrs. Lee Truesdale. She was preceded in death by a grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Jenerett. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Louise Truesdale; two sons, Perry Truesdale of New York and Daniel Bethea and a devoted daughter, Sonya Williams (David), all of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two loving sisters, Karen Truesdale and Cheryl Hairston (Rodney); a loving brother, Donald McKnight (Evelyn) of Plano, Texas; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, in the chapel of the Russell Funeral Home, with Minister Anthony Coles officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery. The family visitation will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. (Russell)

BLEDSOE

SPRING LAKE - Mrs. Lois Story Bledsoe, of 729 Goodyear Drive, formerly of Winston-Salem died Tuesday at her home. Lois was a graduate of James A. Gray High School and in spite of her failing health was able to attend the recent union of all of the '50s graduates. She greatly enjoyed meeting with and reminiscing with her old friends. She worked at the old City Memorial Hospital prior to her marriage and then spent the next 27 years traveling with her husband Jack to various national and international locations with the U.S. Air Force. She was retired from the U.S. Air Force Morale, Welfare and Recreation Division, where she was in charge of accounts receivable for many years prior to her retirement. She received many awards and accolades from the U.S. Air Force for her service to the men and women assigned to Pope Air Force base. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence H. "Jack" Bledsoe of Spring Lake; two daughters, Dawn Langevin of Clemmons and Sena Marcella Ware of Spring Lake; sons David C. Bledsoe of Naples, Fla. and Lawrence W. Bledsoe of Surf Side, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Juanita Cude of Winston-Salem; a brother, Mr. Tommy Story of Lexington; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, in the chapel of J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, N.C. 109 N., Wallburg, with Steve Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Friday evening.

BRUNER

BURLINGTON - Mr. Lester Bruner Jr., 79, of 2285 May Drive died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, after years of failing health at Liberty Commons. Mr. Bruner was born in Surry County to the late Roy Lester Bruner and the late Ida May Wood Bruner. Mr. Bruner was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He retired from AT&T as a security guard and attended Graham Friends Church. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Thelma Collins Bruner of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Brenda (Larry) Blackburn of Rockledge, Fla., Mrs. Deborah (Danny) Laughon of Lakeland, Fla., and Mrs. Barbara (Sammy) Epps of Burlington; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; three brothers, Bobby Bruner, Charlie Bruner and Harold Bruner, all of Burlington; and two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Eten of Burlington and Ms. Betty Bruner of Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bennie Smith officiating. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence. BULLINS

SILER CITY - Mrs. Stacy Mae Hicks Bullins, 81, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 15, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bullins was born June 19, 1920, in Stokes County to the late S.M. and Annie Bullins Hicks. She retired from Western Electric in 1975 after 25 years of service. Mrs. Bullins was a member of Cape Fear Baptist Church in Carolina Beach. She was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Kellam; and two brothers, Robert Hicks and Ralph Hicks. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband and soul mate of 62 years, Redgie "Slim" Bullins of Siler City, formerly of Kure Beach; five sisters, Ellen Carter of Sanford, Nancy Simmons (Tommy Brown) of Siler City, Alice Morris (Ralph) of Greenville, S.C., Bessie Childers (Kenneth) of Kernersville and Faye May (Charles) of Graham; four brothers, Henry Hicks (Mary Bell) of Stokesdale, Sandy M. Hicks Jr. (Shelby) of Greensboro, Edward Bailey Hicks (Betty) of Reidsville and Donnie Hicks (Mary Ann) of Greensboro; a special nephew, Butch Hicks; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Stokesdale Baptist Church, with Brother Carl Brown and Brother Charles May officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at Brooke Funeral Home in Stokesdale and other times at the home of Donnie and Mary Ann Hicks, 4312 Blackberry Road, Greensboro.

CAMERON

ASHEVILLE - Mrs. Anna Mae Brown Cameron, 80, formerly of Boone, the wife of the late Robert W. Cameron Sr., has died. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Brushy Fork Baptist Church. Barney Hampton Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

CHILTON

KING - Mrs. Stella Brinkley Chilton, 86, widow of Charles Clyde Chilton, of 897 N. 52 Bypass, Pilot Mountain, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 16, 2002, at Village Care Center in King. She was born May 7, 1915, in Surry County to Luther Thomas and Rosa Lee Wilson Brinkley. Mrs. Chilton was a loving mother and grandmother, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Pilot Mountain. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Adele and Bill Jessup of Pilot Mountain; two grandchildren, Cindy and Dean Denny of Pilot Mountain and Sandra J. Tedder and a special friend Tommy Comer of Rural Hall; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Wes Denny of Pilot Mountain; a sister in Law, Anges Chilton; and several special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chilton was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jesse and Carlie Brinkley; and three sisters, Novella Haymore, Donie Brinkley and Ethel Inman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Cox-Needham Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Eugene Sherill. Interment will follow in the Pilot Mountain City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday Jan. 17, 2002, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and residents of Village Care of King for their love and support. Memorials may be made in floral tribute; to the Village Care, P.O. DOBSON

Mrs. Dorothy Scott Dobson of the 500 block of E. 14th St. passed away at the home of her daughter, Brenda, Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, after a brief illness. Mrs. Dobson was born March 19, 1922, in Mocksville, Davie County, and was educated in the local public schools. She had been a resident of Winston-Salem since the age of 16. Her husband, Mr. James V. Dobson, and her parents, Mr. Richard Coy and Mrs. Ossie Hall Scott preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother and sister, Harvey and Creola. Mrs. Dobson is survived by her 10 children, Mr. James R. (Pat) Dobson of Philadelphia, Mr. Robert L. and Mr. Raymond A. Dobson, both of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Juanita Dobson-Black-well and Mrs. Dorothy Dobson (the Rev. Howard) Daniels of Winston-Salem, Mr. Roland A. Dobson of Virginia Beach, Va., Mr. Joseph R. (Angela) Dobson, Ms. Linda E. Dobson, Mr. Rickey D. (Toni) Dobson and Mrs. Brenda Dobson (the Rev. Cedric) Crawford, all of Winston-Salem. Three sisters also survive her, Mrs. Sadie Sharpe of Harmony and Ms. Helen B. Scott and Mrs. Marie Frost-Robinson-Baskin, both of Winston-Salem. Survivors also include 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; dozens of nieces and nephews; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; close relatives, including the Jesse Peachtree family, the Ivey Booe family, the Ollie Smith-Forst family and the Grace Ijames family; the extended families of the late Richard R. Robinson; Mildred R. Long; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at the Living Water Non-Denominational Church, 2315 Urban St., Winston-Salem, with the Rev. Howard Daniels and the Rev. Cedric Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery. A wake service will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Beasley's Funeral Service, 3001 Old Greensboro Road, Winston-Salem. Condolences may be expressed at the homes of a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Dobson-Daniels, 200 Lee Smith Lane, Kernersville or a son, Mr. Rickey Dobson, 3417 Cumberland Road, Winston-Salem. The funeral procession will depart from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Daniels at 12:30 p.m. en route to the church. Beasley's Funeral Service is in charge of services and arrangements.

YADKINVILLE - Mr. James Roger "Bud" Doss, 63, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Doss was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Surry County to Henry Edward and Mary Ola Simmons Doss. He was employed by Lowe's Corp., North Wilkesboro, and was a member of Old Fashion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lester Grover Doss. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Lou Manring and husband Oakley of Tobaccoville, and Becky Davis and husband Roby of Rural Hall; a brother, Lawrence Doss and wife Helen of Yadkinville; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Church of the Corinth in Level Cross by the Rev. Oakley Manring. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Gentry Family Funeral Service, 5108 U.S. 601 North., Yadkinville.

MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Vester Grover Fulk, 82, died Wednesday at Northern Hospital of Surry County. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy.

FULTON

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. John Fewell Fulton, 80, of 3040 Bethel Church Road died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Forsyth County, a son of the late Elbert and Clara Waggner Fulton. Mr. Fulton served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Southern Tool Manufacturing Co. He was a farmer and avid fox hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Barrow Fulton, and a son Ronnie Covington. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Covington Fulton of the home; a daughter, Donna Walker (David); five sons, Wayne Fulton (Peggy), Terry Fulton (Ann), Phil Covington (Kim), Kenny Fulton and Doug Covington (Kathy); 11 grand-children; and two great-grand-children. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Goodwill Baptist Church by the Rev. Mervin Garrison and the Rev. Joe Pizzino. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

The moment you left for Heaven an eagle landed on our house, stopped briefly, and flew away Heaven bound. You were always the wind beneath our wings, how appropriate to be carried away on eagle's wings. But here on earth a little while all of us must stay, and keep you in our hearts and always in our dreams until we meet again in glory on that day.

Mrs. Floy Lee "Lucky" Johnson Darnell Gardner, 72, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Gardner was born May 27, 1929, in Courtney to the late William L. and Ella Spaugh Johnson. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville and was a home-maker. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her first husband, Harvey Willard Darnell; three brothers; and a sister. Surviving are her husband, Harold R. Gardner; a daughter, Dawnna "Dee" Darnell Davila; a son, Nathan Bradley Gardner and wife Glenda; five grandchildren, Stephanie K. Morgan and husband Bill, Brian N. Davila, Cody N. Davila, Jason B. Kearney and Adam D. Kearney; two great-grandchildren, Chad T. Kearney and Brooke T. Kearney; three sisters, Lillian J. Folwell, Jean J. Branon, and Winfrey Mae Blackwell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Michael Pope. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Friday evening at the funeral home and requests that memorials be made to the Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

GREENE

WALNUT COVE - Mrs. Helen Rebecca White Greene, 71, died Tuesday at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Greene was born June 10, 1930, in Stokes County to the late Edd and Mamie Kiser White. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Gospel Baptist Church in Germanton. Survivors include her husband, William C. Greene of the home; three daughters, Rebecca Alquezada of Frankfort, Ind., Debbie Smith and husband Dan of Winston-Salem and Carolyn Lawson and husband Phil of Lawsonville; a son, Roger and wife Mary Norman Greene of Walnut Cove; five grandchildren, Lyle Greene, Molly Dolan, Will Lawson and Hanna and Dallas Alquezada. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Burroughs Funeral Home. With the Rev. Darrell Hampton and the Rev. Jerry Manuel officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Cove cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
