KINNEY

Mr. Donald Shupert Kinney Sr., 73, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Forsyth County to William Lee and Martha Marion Kinney. He is survived by two sons, Donald S. Kinney Jr. and John W. Kinney; three daughters, Malissa K. Bumgarner, Lucetta K. Zaytoun and Martha K. Dodd; a brother, William Lee Kinney Jr.; and 14 grandchildren, Angela Kinney, Meredith Kinney, Marian Dodd, Andrew Dodd, Meggie Bumgarner, Trevor Bumgarner, Daniel Kinney, Michael Kinney, Ford Dodd, Myriah Dodd, Katie Zaytoun, Liza Zaytoun, Adam Zaytoun and Tessa Zaytoun. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with the Rev. David Marcus Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 3409 D W. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27407. LARMORE

Mrs. Ella Wright Larmore of 2225 Polo Road passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 27, 2002, at The Oaks at Forsyth. Mrs. Larmore was born March 25, 1917, to Claude and Eunice Mason Wright in Mardella Springs, Md. She was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, William George Larmore, on May 18, 2000. Funeral services will be held at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, by Dr. Randy Waugh and the Rev. Robert Symanski. She is survived by a son, William T. Larmore and wife, BJ, of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Noah W. Larmore and wife, Cathy, of Winston-Salem, and Jane Neill Larmore of Atlanta; two sisters, Lillian Marvel and Shirley Gable, and a brother, Frank P. Wright, all of Baltimore Md. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at Vogler & Son's Reynolda Road Chapel. Memorials may be made to Roof Top Gardens Project of Brenner Children's Hospital, c/o the Office of Development, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27157-1021.

LIVENGOOD

LEXINGTON - William Alexander Livengood Jr., 67, the husband of Betty Garrison Livengood, died Monday at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

MCSWAIN

THOMASVILLE - Mr. W. Carl McSwain, 93, the husband of the late Ruth Everhart McSwain, died Sunday at Thomasville Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holly Hill Memorial Park cemetery. J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

RUMMEL

MOCKSVILLE - Sherry Lynn Rummel, 35, of Ranch Way died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born Oct. 20, 1966, in Lebanon, Pa., to Gary Thierwechter of Lebanon and Nancy Cheatham of Mocksville. Prior to her illness, she was employed by B&H Beauty Supply. On May 23, 1987, she married Gary L. Rummel Jr., who survives. In addition to her mother, father and husband, she is survived by her stepmother, Debra Thierwechter of Lebanon, Pa.; a stepbrother, Shannon Cheatham; two stepsisters, Angel Cheatham and Susan Young, all of Lebanon; and two special dogs, Flash and Taz. Funeral services for Sherry will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Davie Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Dale Parsley officiating. Interment will be at Rowan Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Conn, Kenneth Head, Leroy Hill, Tommy Hill, Gerry Burk, Allan Pardon and Greg McQueen. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home and other times they will be at the residence on Ranch Way. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Davie Funeral Service Inc., 416 Valley Road, Mocksville, is serving the family of Sherry Lynn Rummel.

SHUTT

MANHEIM, Pa. - Pauline V. Shutt, 83, of 113 W. Colebrook St., died Sunday morning, Jan. 27, 2002, at her home following a long illness. Born in Lancaster, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Carl and Grace Hecker Wolf. In her early years, Mrs. Shutt worked for the former Consolidated Cigar Factory, Lancaster. She was the wife of Clayton W. Shutt, and they observed their 49th wedding anniversary Nov. 29, of last year. She was a member of St. Richard's Catholic Church, Manheim, where she was a member of the women's group and participated in the music program. She was a member of Manheim Historical Society, the Manheim VFW Post No. 5956 Auxiliary, Stiegel Roses Senior Citizens Group of Manheim and the Lititz Senior Center. Mrs. Shutt volunteered for the Mennonite Central Committee in Akron, Pa. She enjoyed folk, polka and square-dancing with her husband and was a member of Dutchland Polkateers and the Swing Through Square Dance Clubs, both in Lititz. An accomplished seamstress, Pauline also enjoyed home sewing, crocheting and flower gardening. In addition to her husband, Pauline is survived by a son, Dennis C. of Kernersville; a daughter, Carol A., married to Donald L. Stoltz of Lebanon, Pa.; a brother, Henry, married to Doris Wolf of Lancaster; and a sister, Elsie Horn of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Albert, Charles, Johnny, Herman and Theodore Wolf; and three sisters, her twin, Mary Guldin, Kathryn Mitterer and Margaret Wolf.

STANLEY

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Charles Russell Stanley, 88, of 4850 Old Hollow Road died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at The Oaks at Forsyth in Winston-Salem. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pisgah United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Tom Howard. The family will received friends following the service at the church. Mr. Stanley was a lifelong member of Pisgah United Methodist Church. He retired as a supervisor in 1977 from R.J. Reynolds, Brook Cove Plant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia B. Stanley; three brothers, R. Ray Stanley, Jay R. Stanley and Wayne Stanley; and a sister, Era Roberson. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Swisher and husband James L. of Greensboro; a brother, Clay Stanley of Kernersville; four grandchildren, Brad Swisher of Greensboro, Laura Nye and husband Ward of Durham, Lynn Neese and husband Tommy of Greensboro and Leigh Bellino and husband Al of Charleston, S.C.; and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2165 Pisgah Church Road, Kernersville, NC 27284. Hanes-Lineberry, Pierce Chapel is assisting the family.

STARR

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Ms. Sadie Starr, 97, formerly of Elkin and Winston-Salem, and mother of Ila Wilmoth Martin of Winston-Salem, died Jan.27 in Independence. Burial will be in Stillwell, Okla. Jan. 31 2002.

VANNOY

BOONE - Mrs. Maude Hodges Vannoy, 91, the widow of Tom G. Vannoy, died Sunday. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Boone Advent Christian Church. Hampton Funeral Service, Boone is in charge of arrangements.

WALSER

LEXINGTON - Ruby Tussey Walser, 82, of Shawnee Road, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at her home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dan Walser and the Rev. Michael Collier. Burial will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Walser was born in Davidson County June 8, 1919, to Arthur David Tussey and Lona Temple Tussey. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Walser, in 1968; brothers Harold Tussey and Ralph Tussey; and a sister, Jean Tussey Fouts. Surviving are sons Randy Walser and wife Donna Craver Walser of Winston-Salem and the Rev. Dan Walser and wife Joyce of Louisburg; daughters Joan Lookabill and husband Gerry of Lexington and Deanna Merritt and husband Jim of Welcome; six grandchildren, Lisa Fishel, Denise Carr, Joey Merritt, Brent Lookabill, Whitney Walser and Taylor Walser; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Dave Tussey, Holland Tussey and Clyde Tussey, all of Lexington; and sisters Clatie Nelson of Clemmons and Donese Leonard of Welcome. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 119 Shawnee Road.

YARBOROUGH

LEXINGTON - Clyde Cyril Yarborough, 79, the husband of Rachel Hope Sechrest Yarborough, died Saturday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, is in charge of arrangements.

BANNISTER

Mrs. Gracie Sheffield Bannister, 84, formerly of 2952 Bainbridge Drive passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Silas Creek Manor Nursing Facility. She was born Jan. 18, 1918, in St. Matthews, S.C., to the late Annie and John Gilmore. She was a member of Grace United Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Bannister; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Yates; and a grandson, William Yates. She leaves to cherish her memory a son-in-law, Leroy Yates; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two devoted nieces, Clare (Bravette) Lyles and Lynn Golden; two devoted nephews, Thomas Gary and Allen Gary; a devoted friend, Mrs. Kay Montgomery; and a host of other nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Grace United Community Church with the Rev. Joseph Parks officiating. Burial will be at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. (Russell)

LANSING - Mr. Russell Jackson Blevins, 81, the husband of Kathleen Neaves Blevins, died Wednesday at Segraves Nursing Care Center. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Boone Family Funeral Home Inc., is in charge of arrangements.

BURNS

Mr. Buck Pressley Burns, 49, of 1928 E. Third St. passed away Jan. 29, 2002, at his residence. He was born Oct. 20, 1952, in Anderson, S.C., to Willie Burns and Glendola Carter Burns. He was a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his father; a sister and four brothers. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Patricia Ann Burns; sons Presley Dkaslo Ijames and Demtrius Quaye and Argentinus Quaye; brothers Walter and Jerome Carter Burns; sisters Hattie and Sherman McClendon, Lula M. Starks, Mattie L. Burns of Germantown, Md., Clatis B. Freeman of California, Willie Ann Simmons, Lucius Beverly J.B. Woods and twin sister Leslie Burns Reynolds and husband William of Winston-Salem; a granddaughter, Tyeasha Quaye; aunts Clatis C. Crawford of Fort Washington, Md.; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Frances S. & Jerry C. Gilmore Memorial Chapel, where Lula Starks will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at the funeral home. The funeral cortege will assemble and leave from 2713 Raleigh Ave. Arrangement entrusted to and services will be conducted by Gilmore Funeral Home.

THOMASVILLE - Mr. Walter Peacock "Bud" Byerly, 90, the husband of the late Dovie Daisy Beck, died Wednesday at Centerclair Nursing Center, Lexington. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Emanuel Reformed United Church of Christ. J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Irene Spangler Cox, 101, of 145 Ravenswood Lane died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Patrick County, Va. Oct. 14, 1900, to the late Harry H. Spangler and the late Hinda L. Hardy Spangler. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the House of Prayer, Martinsville, Va. She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Logan (Lorena C.) Compton and Mrs. Wesley (Helen C.) Eggleston, both of Martinsville, Juanita Ramsey of the home, Mrs. Douglas (Frances C.) Hundley of Fieldale, Va., Mrs. Jackie (Clara C.) of Martinsville and Mrs. J.C. (Barbara C.) Martin of Advance; three sons and five daughters-in-law, Thomas J. Cox, Jesse L. and Ruth T. Cox, R. Kennon and Martha A. Cox, Mildred F. Cox, Ruby C. Cox and Travis P. Cox, all of Martinsville; a brother, Harry H. Spangler Jr. of Eden; a half-brother, Wallace Spangler of Critz, Va.; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Treavor Cox; three sons, G. Wallace Cox, Harry G. Cox and John D. Cox; three brothers, G. Wallace Spangler, W. Ira Spangler and Dillard M. Spangler; and a grandson, Glenn Compton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Bob Ford, the Rev. Oscar Adams, the Rev. Keith Campbell, the Rev. Otis Finney, the Rev. Bill Preskitt, the Rev. Byrum Orr and Dr. James Wall officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. PILOT MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Virginia Smith Dearmon, 85, died Sunday at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Exodus Progressive Primitive Baptist Church. Spencer Funeral Home of Mount Airy is in charge of arrangements.

GAITHER

MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Kelly Lee "June Bug" Gaither Jr., 49, of Duke Whittaker Road died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ben Mull officiating. Interment will be in Ijames Baptist Church cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home one hour before the service Saturday. They request that memorials be considered for Ijames Baptist Church cemetery Fund, c/o Mr. Joe V. Gobble, 911 Sheffield Road, Mocksville, NC 27028. Mr. Gaither was born Aug. 13, 1952, in Rowan County to Ruth Chaffin Gaither and the late Kelly L. Gaither Sr. He was an avid fan of racing and Richard Petty, loved to do art work, and enjoyed birds and country music. Survivors include his mother of the home who for 32 years provided him with special and loving care after an automobile accident; two brothers, Curtis (Retha) Gaither of Harmony and Ronald "Mooney" Gaither; two sisters, Brenda Gaither (Phil) Crowe of Mocksville and Kathy Gaither of Yadkinville; and 10 special nieces and nephews; John, Chinera and Tyler Robinson, Michael and Nathan Crowe, Anthony and Shanda Gaither, Daniel Gaither, Jennifer Gaither and Ronda, Daryl and Bayleigh Martin.
