DOSS

RURAL HALL - Mrs. Jetta Wright Doss, 88, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002. She was born to the late Zed and Mary Etta Danley Wright on Sept. 5, 1913, in Yadkin County. She married Vineyard Willard Doss on Jan. 31, 1931, in Carroll County, Va. He preceded her in death in 1964. She was retired from Hanes Hosiery with more than 25 years of service. Mrs. Doss loved the Lord and was a member of Mizpah Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Mrs. Doss is survived by two sons, Bobby L. Doss (Lucy) of King and Don Doss (Evelyn) of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Glenda McDonald (Gordon) of Vancouver, Canada; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Vogler & Son's Reynolda Road Chapel. Interment will follow at Woodland cemetery. The Rev. Donnie Pickeral will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Falcon Children's Home, P.O. Box 39, Falcon, NC 28342.

EVERHART

LEXINGTON - Loretta Katen Everhart, 62, the wife of Robert C. "Bobby" Everhart, died Tuesday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Spruce Street Baptist Church. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, is in charge of arrangements.

FRAIL

Mrs. Kathryn Garvey Frail, 79, of Winston-Salem died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at the Brian Center. She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Luzerne, Pa., to Peter and Catherine Brennan Garvey. Mrs. Frail was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and St. Teresa's Guild and Golden Club. Surviving are a son, J. Donald Frail and wife Bonnie of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Scott C. Frail of Charlotte, Patrick J. Frail and wife Cathy of Winston-Salem, Douglas J. Frail and wife Oliver of Winston-Salem and Mollie E. Frail of Charlotte; and three great-grandchildren, Jack Frail, Abbey Frail and Mary Margaret Frail. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

FRANKLIN

MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Shade McGee Franklin, 80, of 178 Sunset Ave., the husband of Mary Easter Franklin, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at his home. Mr. Franklin was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Cumberland County, Va., to the late Jay and Mary Alice McGee Franklin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, the retired owner of the State Line Trading Post and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Mary Easter Franklin of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Jeff Pruitt, and Sherri and Freddie Lyons, all of Mount Airy; a son, Lewis Franklin of Mount Airy; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mike Money of Mount Airy; six grandchildren and spouses, Sara Daus, Breanna Pruitt and Benji. and Rhonda Hiatt, all of Mount Airy; Stephanie and Heath Winslow of Raleigh; and Sheena Franklin and Shasta Franklin, both of Cana, Va.; and three special friends from Northern Home Care, Becky Johnson, Rebekah Meyers and Sabrina McKeithen. In addition to his parents, Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sandra Hiatt; a grandson, Michael Money; and a sister, Mary Jay Parks. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy, conducted by the Rev. David Sechrist and the Rev. Russell Vass. Burial will be in the Oakdale cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Yokefellow Ministry, 215 Jones School Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.

FRYE

Mrs. Zella "Zee" Bass Frye, 76, 5429 Shattalon Drive, Apt. 4, died Wednesday morning at Forsyth Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the new Oak Grove United Methodist Church cemetery in Rural Hall by the Rev. Harry Sammons. Mrs. Frye was born in Winston-Salem on July 13, 1925, the daughter of Cletus A. and Zella C. Robbins Bass. Before retirement, Mrs. Frye was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 15 years and by H.S. Kress Co. She was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her husband, Masten "Mack" Montgomery Frye, of the home; a son, Terry T. (Sharon) Blakeley of Denver, Colo.; two stepchildren, Sandra F. Shreve and Kent M. Frye; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Vogler & Son's Reynolda Road Chapel and other times at the home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Carolyn Landry, 733 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045. The family would like to thank Piedmont Dialysis and Northside Dialysis for the loving care they provided Mrs. Frye.

GRIGG

VILAS - Mrs. Margaret Adams Grigg, 83, the wife of the late Barney W. Grigg, died Wednesday at Watauga Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cove Creek Baptist Church. Hampton Funeral Service, Boone, is in charge of arrangements.

HARGER

WALNUT COVE - Mrs. Virginia Estelle Redmon Harger, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Stokes Reynolds Hospital. She was born in Stokes County to the late Joseph Cephus and Claudia Agnes Tuttle Redmon. Mrs. Harger was a homemaker. Preceding her in death were her husband, Ralph Junior Harger, on May 28, 1988; four sisters, Clara, Beulah, Pauline and Margaret; and four brothers, Carl, Alvin, Trevor and Rob. Mrs. Harger is survived by four sons, A.J. and Donnie Harger of the home, Dean Harger (Gail) of Westfield and Roger Harger (Julie) of Walnut Cove; two brothers, Joe Pete Redmon and James Milton Redmon; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home and other times at the home of Roger and Julie Harger.

HEDRICK

ADVANCE - Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Bartgis Hedrick, U.S. Army Ret., 75, died in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md., Feb. 5, 2002. Born in Beckley, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thomas Hubert and Nora L. Bartgis Hedrick. He retired from the Army after having served his country during World War II in the European Campaign and the Korean War, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He had worked at Motorola for 20 years. Since his retirement in 1979, he has lived in Bermuda Run. Before that he had lived in the Annapolis and Washington areas. He enjoyed golf and fishing. Mr. Hedrick is survived by three sons, Robert H. Hedrick of Bel Air, Md., David P. Hedrick of Silver Spring, Md., and James W. Dent III of Pawleys Island, S.C.; a daughter, Cynthia D. McCorkle of Charleston, W.Va.; a brother, Thomas H. Hedrick Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Clemmons Moravian Church, Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wilmer Eye Institute, 600 N. Wolfe St., Wilmer Suite 112, Baltimore, MD 21287, specify Diabetic Research. Arrangements were under the direction of McComas Funeral Home P.A. in Abingdon, Md.

HOLLOWELL

KERNERSVILLE -Mrs. Jean Carroll Sullivan Hollowell, 69, a resident of Valley Forge Road, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 13, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Davidson County, a daughter of the late Odell Sullivan and Mary Elizabeth Ferguson Sullivan. She was a retired employee with Sears Inc. Mrs. Hollowell was a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, the Ladies Circle, and was a volunteer in the church office. On July 19, 1952, she was married to Daniel Clifford Hollowell, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1988. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Vickie Hollowell) Weavil of Atlanta; and a son, Darrell Hollowell of Washington. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Holly Hill Memorial Park cemetery, with the Rev. Dana McKim officiating. Mrs. Hollowell will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The family requests that memorials be directed to Crisis Control Ministry Inc., 431 W. Bodenhamer St., Kernersville, NC 27284.

JACOBSEN

DOBSON - Mr. Walter Jacobsen, 73, the husband of Ingeborg D. Jacobsen, died Wednesday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Davis & Son Funeral Home, Dobson.

JESSUP

WESTFIELD - Elder George Daniel Jessup, 55, the husband of Victoria Penn Jessup, died Wednesday at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Danbury. The funeral arrangements are incomplete with Spencer Funeral Home, Mount Airy.

KIME

BLOWING ROCK - Mr. Robert Clay Kime, 83, the husband of Majorie Niles Kime, died Wednesday. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blowing Rock. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LACKEY

Mr. Benjamin Woody Lackey passed away Feb. 12, 2002. He was born Feb. 7, 1928, to the late Rome Lackey and Annie Mae Ordell Woody. Funeral serviced are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Beasley's Chapel. Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen cemetery. Survivors include sons Thavers (Debbie) Shuler and Benjamin, Desmond and Jerome Lackey; daughter Angela and Erica Lackey; stepchildren Joe (Angela) Shulerand and Barbara Ann (Rickey) Pouncey; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was employed by the city of Winston-Salem for 12 years. Professional services are implemented by Beasley's Funeral Service.

BLOWING ROCK - Ruth Edmisten Lentz, 97, died Tuesday. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blowing Rock. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LEWIS

LEXINGTON - Mrs. Norma Gladys Bowman Lewis, 81, the wife of the late Clarence Garland Lewis, died Wednesday at Thomasville Medical Center in Thomasville. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy.

MYERS

JONESVILLE - Mr. Robert "Ted" Myers, 67, of Bethel Road, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Feb. 21, 1934, in Yadkin County to the late Jim and Annie Garis Myers. Mr. Myers was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 30 years of service. He was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by a brother, Claud Myers. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Peggy Howell Myers of the home; three children, Kathy (Wade) Reece, Perry (Nancy) Myers and Amy (Mark) Stevens; four grandchildren, Justin, Crissman, Drew Stevens, Liam Stevens and Gabrielle Myers; two sisters, Erline Nichols, and Joan (Fred) Whitaker; and a brother, Ralph (Sammy) Myers. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Swan Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Nat Thompson and the Rev. Tim White. He will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Home, Highway 601 N., Yadkinville. PARDUE

I have received many gifts, but one is greater than any other: It's the gift God gave to me, my very special Mother. Cherished by family and friends, Mrs. Mary Ann Smith Pardue, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002. Mary was the daughter of Willie Edgar and Mary Ellen Bradford Smith. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Howard Lee Pardue; a son, Howard Lee Pardue Jr. and wife Stephanie of James-town; a daughter, Darlene Hand and husband Larry of Winston-Salem; and a granddaughter, Shakira Ann Hand Humble and husband Scott of Mobile, Ala. She is also survived by a sister, Mable S. Culler, and a brother, Alfred L. Smith, both of Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in the chapel of Centenary United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. PHILLIPS

ATLANTA - Mr. Paul Thomas Phillips was born March 14, 1960, in Atlanta. He died Feb. 5, 2002, in New Caledonia. Paul is now reunited with his beloved mother, Dorothy E. Phillips, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. K.L. Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Tyson. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Whitaker of Atlanta, formerly of Winston-Salem; his father, Harold S. Phillips of Kennesaw, Ga.; a brother, Patrick E. Phillips of Rome, Ga.; and a sister, Cynthia Liebhardt and her husband, Brian, of Mentor, Ohio. He is also survived by four nieces, Janna, Crystal, Heather and Briana; and three nephews, Chris, Chad and Patrick, all of whom he adored. Paul graduated from Emory University in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in economics and finance. He began his career with Cox Communications as a manager trainee. During his 20-year career, Paul served in several responsible positions, rising to the vice-presidential level, but he was most proud of the relationships developed throughout the Cox operation. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, East Point, Ga., with Interfaith Minister Laurie Boddie officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until service time. Interment will be at 4:30 p.m. at Brooks cemetery in Brooks, Ga. For those desiring, contributions can be made in memory of Paul T. Phillips to the Hemophilia Foundation of Georgia, 8800 Roswell Road, Suite 170, Atlanta, GA 30350. SITERLIT

Harold M. Siterlit, 76, a resident of the Lutheran Home, Winston-Salem, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002. He was born Jan. 8, 1926, and had been a resident of Winston-Salem for 20 years. Mr. Siterlit was preceded in death by his faithful friend and caregiver, Carlton Garrison. Surviving are Jeff and Tina Garrison and his friends of the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission. Memorial Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
