WILSON

Mrs. Margaret Jenkins Wilson, beloved mother and grandmother and widow of Felix Curry Wilson Jr., of 1525 Woods Road, Winston-Salem, died Feb. 27, at Forsyth Medical Center after a very brief illness. She was born to the late Robert Jenkins Sr. and Florence Sharp Jenkins in Radford, Va., Oct. 20, 1917. She was a member of several art groups and classes in Winston-Salem and also loved to write poetry. As a longtime active member of Reynolda Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed many activities. Her love was singing the praises of God in the choir and sharing her paintings and poetry with others. Margaret was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.'s sales department. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986 and a sister. Survivors are her daughters, Sandra (John) Beane of Pfafftown, Felice (Keith) Avery of Winston-Salem, Gay (Charles) Cherry of King and Sherry (Jeff) Thompson of Tobaccoville; a stepdaughter, Sylvia (W.M.) Walker of Winston-Salem; brothers Robert Jenkins of Murphy and John (Joy) Jenkins of Duck; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2002, at Reynolda Presbyterian Church by Dr. Perry Mobley. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Reynolda Presbyterian Church Music Department, 2200 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Vogler & Son's Reynolda Road Chapel.

BARGIOL

Mr. Keith Jacob Bargiol, 82, formerly of Cash Drive, died at the Wesley Long Nursing Center in Greensboro Feb. 18, 2002. He was born in St. Johns, Kan., March 24, 1919, to Joseph and Mary Smith Bargiol. Mr. Bargiol was a member of Central Tabernacle and was the owner of Liberty Mattress and Furniture Co. He was a Mason and Shriner and also a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Bargiol was an avid hunter and fisherman and was the greatest father and Papaw to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by four daughters, Judy Wofford and her husband, Bob, of Greensboro, Betty Beeson and her husband, Norris, of Winston-Salem, Peggy Crews and her husband, Don, of Walkertown and Pamela Phillips and her husband, Dillard, of Kernersville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, the Rev. Bill Bargiol, Bo Bargiol and Virgil Bargiol; and two sisters, Sue Hawkins and Floy Bargiol. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Bill Bargiol officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

LEXINGTON - Mr. Charles Reid Beck, 85, the husband of Doris Crotts Beck, died Tuesday at High Point Regional Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Tabor United Church of Christ. Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BOLES

THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Dorothy Surratt Boles, 81, the wife of the late William O. Boles, died Tuesday in Britthaven of Guilford. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel.

BREWER

THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Frances Tee Varner Brewer, 92, the wife of the late Robert Lee Brewer, died Sunday at Mariner House of Bel Air, Maryland. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel.

CALABRO

YADKINVILLE - Mr. Carmelo Calabro, 85, the husband of Donna C. Calabro, died Tuesday at his home. The funeral will be Saturday in Bluewell, W.Va. Mackie-Reavis Funeral Home of Yadkinville is in charge of arrangements.

COLLINS

WALKERTOWN - Mrs. Annie Snow Collins, 88, died Feb. 19, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Collins was born Nov. 19, 1913, in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Thomas and Martha Matthews Snow. She was preceded in death by her husband, S.L. Collins Sr.; four brothers, Charles, Will, Harvey and David Snow; two sisters, Ella Lewis and Cynthia Holbrook; and a stepson, Herman Collins. Surviving are three daughters, Faye Collins, Phyllis (Bob) Williams and Becky Shepherd, all of Walkertown; six stepchildren, Ruby Bailey, Nina (Nick) Robbins, Doris (Harold) Lewis and John (Florence) Collins, all of Winston-Salem; S.L. Collins Jr. (Betsy) of Statesville and Virginia Whitman of Tobaccoville; a sister, Minnie Aycoth of Meadowbrook Manor-Clemmons; and a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Chapel, by the Rev. Hank Keating. Burial will follow in Woodland cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's choice.

DUKES

Mr. George Keller Dukes, 75, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, as a result of a truck accident. He was born July 5, 1926, in Washington County, Va., to James R. and Charlene Keller Dukes. Mr. Dukes was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He worked for Hennis Freight, Royal Cake Co. and presently with Synagro. His true love was farming. He was always happy when he was around tractors, horses and cows. He taught his son to drive tractors, ride horses and work with animals. He loved children and helped with his son's scout troop and 4-H projects. Mr. Dukes was preceded in death by his father; an infant sister; and a brother, J.W. Dukes. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Pearl S. Dukes of the home; a son, George K. Dukes III of Mountain City, Tenn.; his mother of Winston-Salem; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Betty. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Tom Southern officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

DULL

EAST BEND - Mr. Keith Ray Dull, 48, of 305 Martin Acres Road died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Dull was born March 24, 1953, to Thomas Ray and the late Peggy Coram Dull in Forsyth County. Mr. Dull served in the U.S. Army during the Vietname War. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Dull was of the Quaker faith. He is survived by his loving companion, Carol Pendergrass of the home; a daughter, Wendy Ann Allison and husband Keith of Burlington; three stepchildren, Candace Mitchell, Misty Miller and James "Bo" Pendergrass Jr.; his father, Thomas Ray Dull Sr.; two brothers, Ricky and wife Annette Dull of East Bend and Thomas "Tommy" Jr. and wife Kathy Dull of Hillsville, Va.; a sister, Diane and husband Ronald Williams of Winston-Salem; a stepbrother, Rudy and wife Teresa Bray of King; and two stepsisters, Susan (Mike) Branch of Winston-Salem and Sandra (Chris) Embler of King; several loving nieces and nephews; and best friends, Bob Baum and William Keene. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Foy Dull. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at the Huff Funeral Home Chapel, East Bend, conducted by the Rev. Eddie Tyson. Burial will follow in the East Bend Friends cemetery will full military honors conducted by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

THOMASVILLE - Mr. Albert Raymond Ferguson, 92, the husband of the late Nellie Aderholt Ferguson, died Tuesday at the Brian Center in Yanceyville. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel.

GARNER

BOONVILLE - Mr. Joseph Norwood "Moe" Garner, of 519 Highway 67 E., passed away Feb. 19, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Forsyth County to the late Walter C. and Dora Manuel Garner. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Gravely Tractor in Clemmons. After the Army, he worked at Steelman Motors in Boonville as a mechanic and helped build racecars. He eventually built his own racecar and raced at Bowman Gray Stadium and the Wilkesboro Raceway. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hubert Garner of Yadkinville and Ralph (Lee) Garner of Winston -Salem; a sister, Mildred (Bob) Moser of Winston-Salem; and a grandson, Scott Dudley. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline Wagoner Garner, of the home. They celebrated their wedding anniversary February 14, Valentine's Day. Also surviving are three daughters, Pam (James) Dudley of Jonesville, Jean (Terry) Macemore of Jonesville and Carolyn (Eugene) Potts of Mocksville; five grandchildren, Tammi (David) Kimmer and Jennifer (Jamey) Money of Jonesville, Chad Hall of Mocksville, Angie (Kyle) Bailey of Advance and Daniel Macemore of Jonesville; five great-grandchildren, Joey and Dylan Jones and Jordan, Trey and Raghan Money; two stepgrandchildren, Frank and Robert Potts; a sister, Erlene (Bill) Bowers of Winston-Salem; and several special friends and neighbors. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Gentry Family Chapel, Highway 601 N., Yadkinville by the Rev. Don Hudson. Burial will follow in the Boonville cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post No. 10346. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at funeral home. PILOT MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Juanita Coe Gilley, 58, of 124 Heidi Court, the wife of Oliver Ray Gilley Sr., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Gilley was born in Surry County June 14, 1943, the daughter of Ila Tate Coe and the late Ralph Henry Coe. She was a sales clerk at Belk Department Store and was a member of North Side Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Oliver Ray Gilley Sr. of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Vince Willis and Vickie and Kenny Vass, all of Mount Airy, Donna and Bobby Boone of Franklinville an Tina and Jeff Bennett of Walnut Cove; a son, Oliver Ray Gilley Jr. of the home; 10 grandchildren, Ethan Willis, Allison Willis, Grayson Vass, Garrett Vass and Nathan Vass, all of Mount Airy, B.J. Meredith and Kristen Meredith, both of Franklinville and Derek Wilson, Dillon Bennett and Dawson Bennett, all of Walnut Cove; her mother, Ila Tate Coe of Mount Airy; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alma and Gray Bingman of White Plains, Doris Hayes of St. Cloud, Fla., and Pat and David Smith of Mount Airy; four brothers and sisters-in-law, J.C. and Barbara Coe, Don and Charlene Coe and Ralph and Dot Coe, all of Mount Airy and Tony and Stephanie Coe of Pilot Mountain; and an aunt, Willie Tate of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at North Side Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dean Eaton and the Rev. John Fry. Burial will be in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the funeral service. GOSLEN

LEWISVILLE - Mrs. Irene Joyce Goslen, 85, died Tuesday morning in Clemmons. Mrs. Goslen was born Jan. 22, 1917, in Stokes County to Frank Joyce and Emma Lee Lawson Joyce. She was of the Baptist faith. She retired from Hanes Knitting after working as a winder. Mrs. Goslen was preceded in death by her husband, Guy B. Goslen; three children; and a stepdaughter. She is survived by a son, Robert Church and his wife, Martha, of Lewisville; two daughters, Peggy Ellis and her husband, Gene, of Clemmons and Joyce Scott and her husband, Conrad, of Walkertown; a stepson, David Church and his wife, Sue, of Winston-Salem; 12 grandchildren, Robert Ellis, Pamela Aslanis, Peggy Ellis, Portia Byerly, Deborah Hobson, Michael Coe, Rhonda Coe, Christie Eads, Dydra Hester, Greg Scott, Ray Scott and Patty Snyder; four stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Polly Owen of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Bud Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Center Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. ASHEVILLE - Mr. Thomas Henry Guthrie, 64, of Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital, following a brief illness. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Peggy Guthrie of Asheville; a nephew, William E. Guthrie and wife Susan and sons Dalton and Kellan of Santa Clara, Calif.; a niece, Kathryn G. Torres and husband Cres of San Diego, Calif.; a niece, Martha G. Duke, and son Christopher of San Jose, Calif.; and uncles and aunts, Emil and Anna Shaffner and Louis and Jane Shaffner of Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Giles Chapel, Deerfield Retirement Community, 1617 Hendersonville Road, Asheville. Morris Funeral Home is assisting the family.

HUGHES

WEST JEFFERSON - Mrs. Lola Skaggs Hughes, 88, died Monday, Feb. 18 at the Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hughes was born July 28, 1913, in Pennington Gap, Va., to Grover Cleveland and Carrie Kirk Skaggs. Her husband, William Lee "Bill" Hughes, and two brothers, Glynn B. Skaggs and Grover Cleveland Skaggs Jr., preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of the West Jefferson First Baptist Church and had served as treasurer and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was co-owner of Colvard Oil Co. for more than 30 years. She also volunteered with the elderly of Ashe County and with the March of Dimes. She was an avid sports fan and a staunch supporter of Wake Forest University. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the West Jefferson First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Morris officiating. Mrs. Hughes will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the West Jefferson First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Badger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Segraves Care Center, 200 Hospital Ave., Jefferson, N.C. Mrs. Hughes is survived by two sons, Thomas Lee Hughes of Denton and friend Barbara Miller of Jefferson, and Ronald Lynn Hughes and wife Chris Naples Hughes of West Jefferson; two daughters, Dorthea Hughes Viola and husband Mark Viola of Winston-Salem and Nancy Hughes Rider and husband Dr. Ernest A. THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Evelyn Elizabeth Daniels Jarrett, 85, the wife of the late Donald Gray Jarrett, died Monday at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel.

JOHNSON

Mr. Jonathan David Johnson died unexpectedly, Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002. He was born in Greenville on Oct. 23, 1975. Jonathan was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of West Forsyth High School and was attending N.C. State University. Jonathan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking, camping and fishing. In 1996, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Branscomb. Jonathan is survived by his mother, Pam Branscomb-Goldstein; his stepfather, Fred Goldstein; his twin brother, Bradley Johnson; his grandmother, Tootsie Branscomb, all of Winston-Salem; and his uncle, Eddie Branscomb and wife Melissa of Clemmons and their sons, Josh, Joel, Ben, Luke, Micah and Gabe. A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Don Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 5000 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.

JONES

MOUNT AIRY - Mrs. Johnnie Frances Rogers Schaniel Jones, 60, of 245 E. Lebanon St., wife of Bill Jones, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 20, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Joseph Anway and Frances Elizabeth Spain Rogers. She was of the Presbyterian faith and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy. She lived in San Francisco, Calif., for 41 years before returning to care for her mother in 1989. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in San Francisco, where she worked at the Rincon Annex, served as vice-president of St. John's Lutheran School PTL for two years, and was vice-president of St. James Catholic School PTL for three years, all in San Francisco. She was currently employed by The Mount Airy News as a telemarketer. Surviving are her loving husband of 36 years, Bill Jones of the home; her oldest son, Russell Schaniel of San Francisco; a daughter, Rebecca Jane and her favorite son-in-law Michael Grove of Beaverton, Ore; and her youngest son, Jonathan Jones of the home. She leaves her best friends, Willie Mae Watson of Oakland, Calif., Mary Ellen Murphy of San Francisco, Louise Dunbar of Mount Airy, Hilda Watson of Dobson, Juanita Rogers of Mount Airy, Debbie Strickland Stone of Hillsville, Va., and Geraldine Quesinberry of Fancy Gap, Va.; her ex-husband, Neal Schaniel of Fairbanks, Ark.; a favorite niece, Debra Cave of Mount Airy; a "special daughter," Misty Strickland of Hillsville, Va.; two favorite cousins, Sue Stanish of Mount Airy and Michael Morgan of Pacific Grove, Calif.; an aunt, Ann Spain Hawks of Picayune, Miss.; and an uncle and spouse, Paul and Lucy Spain of Winston-Salem. She was grateful for the kindness and friendship of her good neighbors, Mary Gwyn, Catherine Parries, Neal Combs, Terry Holt and Don and Sherry Jones. She not only enjoyed the friendship, but the excellent nursing skills of her four nurses, Yevette Sisk, Donna Hawks, Vonda Rogers and Susan Simpson. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy, conducted by Dr. Benjamin William. Burial will be in the Oakdale cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. James School PTL, c/o Mary Ellen Murphy, 321 Fairoaks St., San Francisco, CA 94110; or to First Presbyterian Church, 326 S. Main St., Mount Airy, NC 27030.
