ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Aline Ward Blount, 63, of 511 Ross St. died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

She was owner and operator of St. Pauls Daycare for 22 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. William Beasley. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mrs. Blount is survived by her husband, Jerry J. Blount; three daughters, Debbie Bass of Lake Waccamaw, Angela Blount of St. Pauls and Lisa Baxley of Lumberton; a son, Jerry V. Blount of Lumberton; a brother, Robert L. Ward of Hampton, Va.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at McNeill Funeral Home and at other times at 1100 E. 14th St., Lumberton.

Rodney D. Williams

HOPE MILLS -- Rodney Demetrius Williams, 26, of Route 1, Box 140-B, died Saturday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mt. Hebrew AME Zion Church in Parkton by the Rev. Theldelmon Cromartie. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Williams is survived by his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Grady Campbell of the home; his father, Ronnie Simmons of Hershey, Pa.; a brother, Lamont Campbell of Fayetteville; two foster sisters, Quandra Williams of Fayetteville and Laquandra Monroe of the home; and his maternal grandmother, Mildred Williams of Fayetteville.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at the home.

RED SPRINGS -- Thurman Locklear, 70, of Red Springs died Saturday in Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

ROCKINGHAM -- Woodrow Harns Jr., 58, of 716 Leak St. died Friday in Richmond Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Antonio Smith. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.

Mr. Harns is survived by a daughter, Wanda Harns of Ellerbe; a son, Norman Harns of Hamlet; two sisters, Lizzie Harns of Rockingham and Annie H. Brown of Hamlet; and a brother, Lola Harns of Rockingham.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at McEachern Funeral Home.

Shuford A. Tucker

Shuford Archie Tucker, 87, of Fayetteville died Tuesday.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Bill Ridouts Valley Funeral Home Chapel of Homewood, Ala.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Tucker; a son, Shuford A. Tucker Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, James H. Tucker of Greenville; a sister, Mae Tucker of Mount Holly; and one grandchild.

Mrs. Shaver is survived by her husband, David L. Shaver of the home; two daughters, Alice S. Campbell of Hancock, Maine, and Donna C. Lovette of Lumberton; two brothers, William “Bill” Bryan and David Bryan, both of Lumberton; two sisters, Joyce Marshburn of Elizabethtown and Lois McArthur of Broadway; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Delma Wood

ERWIN -- Delma Wood, 71, of Erwin died Saturday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

He was the owner of Twin City Auto Sales.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in East Erwin Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Byrd. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Minnie M. Wood of the home; two sons, Larry Wood and Ricky Wood, both of Erwin; a daughter, Sylvia Dziedzic of Erwin; a brother, Sam Wood of Douglas, Ga.; two sisters, Lois Dorman of Dunn and Joyce Clifton of Clayton; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Price Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Eric and Sylvia Dziedzic, 308 W. B St., Erwin.

Gregory A. Gulka

PINEHURST -- Gregory A. Gulka, 49, of Pinehurst died Saturday in his home.

He was the director of golf at Knollwood Fairways and Midland Country Club for 15 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Community Congregational Church in Southern Pines by the Rev. Michael J. Garber. Burial will be private.

Mr. Gulka is survived by his wife, Bridget S. Gulka; a son, Ryan B. Gulka of the home; his mother, Dolores Z. Simpson of Pinehurst; and a sister, Cynthia D. Dering of Jamison, Pa.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at Boles Funeral Home and Crematory in Southern Pines. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

She was a member of White Marsh Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Peacock’s Chapel in the Pines by the Rev. Jim Roper. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park.

Mrs. Duncan is survived by two sons, Billy Duncan and E.O. Duncan, both of Whiteville; a foster son, Henry Benton of Leland; a sister, Lou Ann Hutchinson of Florida; a brother, Sammy Strickland of Lake City, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Dennis B. Smith

TURKEY -- Retired Air Force Staff Sgt. Dennis Bruce Smith, 47, of 1421 Needmore Road died Friday.

He was a truck driver.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in New Hope Baptist Church by Bobby Oliver and the Rev. Ray Smith. Burial with military honors will be in Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Jane R. Smith of the home; a daughter, Victoria J. Smith of Turkey; a son, Dennis C. Smith of Charlotte; his mother, Bessie R. Smith of Turkey; three brothers, Claude E. Smith of Turkey, Eugene R. Smith of Sparta and Thomas E. Smith of Newport News, Va.; and one grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and at other times at the home.

HOPE MILLS -- Retired Army 1st Sgt. Norman Martin Thibault, 65, of 6547 Cedar Oakes Circle died Saturday in his home.

A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Main Post cemetery on Fort Bragg by Father John Kelly.

Mr. Thibault is survived by his wife, Ruth G. Thibault.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Reeves Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.

John A. Ward

Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer John Ashley Ward, 87, of Fayetteville died Saturday in his home.

Mr. Ward was in the original parachute test platoon from the 29th Infantry Regiment. The unit made the first Army jump on Aug. 16, 1940.

Mr. Ward received the American Defense Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Master Parachute Badge.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 82nd Airborne Division Memorial Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Ward is survived by a daughter, Nancy W. Ransom of Lumber Bridge; a son, Edward A. Ransom of Lumber Bridge; a sister, Sarah Seagraves of Asheboro; and two brothers, C.T. Maxey of Watkinsville, Ga., and Bob Maxey of Savannah, Ga.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 82nd Airborne Division Museum, care of Bob Anzoni, Fort Bragg, N.C. 28307-5000.

Mr. Baldwin is survived by his mother, Pecolia Baldwin of the home; five brothers, Randolph Baldwin of the home, Steve Baldwin, Winston Baldwin and Lester Baldwin, all of Fairmont, and Wilbert Baldwin of Florida; and five sisters, Margaret A. Pittman of New York, and Pattie Campbell, Carrie Baldwin, Cynthia Baldwin and Catherine Baldwin, all of Fairmont.

The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Community Funeral Home.

Mrs. Flossie “T” Christian, 77, of 2008 Poinciana Lane, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Cureton Johnson. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Christian is survived by her husband, Ernest Christian of Fayetteville; four daughters, Dorothy Webster, Maxine McCree and Ernestine Robinson, all of Fayetteville, and Helen Washington of Sanford; a son, William Christian of Atlanta; two sisters, Beulah Adams of Fayetteville and Macie Drayton of Raliegh; a brother, Sam Ray of Stamford, Conn.; 28 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church, and at other times at the home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Revs. James D. Franklin and Mary Marcum. Another service will be held in Lansdowne, Pa., at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Forrest is survived by her husband, Richard E. Forrest; two daughters, Elizabeth F. Harrington of Atlanta and Victoria F. Arculin of Winchester, Va.; and four grandchildren.
