RED SPRINGS -- Hersley “Hoover” Locklear, 68, of 2556 Dairy Road died Wednesday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Galilee Baptist Church by the Revs. Ricky Deese and Roy Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson’s Funeral Home of Pembroke.
Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife Frances J. Locklear of the home; six sons, Ronnie Locklear, William B. Locklear, Bobby Locklear, Billy Locklear and Ricky Locklear, all of Red Springs, and Gene Locklear of Shannon; two daughters, Evelene Woriax of Red Springs and Phyllis Revels of Pembroke; his parents, Carlie and Strodie Locklear of Red Springs; three brothers, Harmon Locklear of Norfolk, Va., Herman Locklear of Chesapeake, Va., and Collins Locklear of Fayetteville; two sisters, Vera Parrish of Red Springs and Lillian Williams of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 p.m. at the church.

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Eva Mae Leach, 72, of 1227 N. Stewart St., died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in WMFA Radio Chapel. Burial will be in Silver Grove Community cemetery.
Mrs. Leach is survived by three sons, Robert McNeil of Norfolk, Va., Robert L. McLean of Columbia, S.C., and John H. McLean of Sumter, S.C.; three daughters, Polly E. Leach and Eva M. Campbell, both of Raeford, and Margaret Hammons of Proctorville; three stepsons, George A. McLean of Hanna Marlboro, N.Y., Willis K. McLean of Jamaica, N.Y., and the Rev. Eugene McLean of Laurinburg; three stepdaughters, Annie Douglas of Manhattan, N.Y., Eva M. MacArthur of Red Springs and Minnie L. Ross of Laurinburg; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

BENSON -- Arthur Webb, 79, of 3696 N.C. 50 South died Saturday in Chapel Hill Rehab Center in Chapel Hill.
He was a home construction worker.

Mr. Webb is survived by a daughter, Dorothy W. Ballance of Deland, Fla.; four brothers, Clarence Webb of Dunn, Marvin Webb of Coats, Jay Webb of Erwin and Charles Webb of Raleigh; a sister, Margaree W. Congilio of Amarillo, Texas; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

SANFORD -- Miss Celia Claire Herron, 58, of 11165 N.C. 42 West died Saturday.

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Mozell Oxendine Hunt, 75, of Lumberton, formerly of Fairmont, died Friday in North Carolina Cancer Institute.
She was a member of Dogwood Baptist Church and was a retired housekeeper for Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Dogwood Baptist Church by the Revs. Bobby Burns and Johnie Chavis. Burial will be in New Bethel Church cemetery.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by a son, Alfred Hunt Jr. of Fairmont; three daughters, Vonnie Matthews and Cleatis Oxendine, both of Louisiana, and Virginia L. Dew of Maysville; her mother, Sara B. Oxendine of Pembroke; a brother, Carson Oxendine of Fairmont; four sisters, Betty O. Hunt of Pembroke, Adell O. Evans of Fairmont, Estelle O. Hunt of Fayetteville and Lucille Oxendine of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

ORRUM -- George Kemper Smith, 79, of Orrum died Saturday in North Carolina Cancer Institute in Lumberton.
He was a Marine veteran of World War II and a member of Proctorville Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Ruth H. Smith of Fairmont; a son, Sanford Hardin of Fairmont; a sister, Rae Hubbard of Charlotte; and one grandson.
