Roy D. Elliott III
HALLSBORO -- Roy David Elliott III, 48, of Hallsboro died Saturday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.
He was an electronics technician for North Carolina Department of Corrections. Mr. Elliott was an Army and Navy veteran of the Vietname War and was a retired senior chief of the Submarine Force.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in McKenzie Mortuary chapel in Whiteville by the Revs. James E. Taylor and Walter Marlowe. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park.
Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife, Martha M. Elliott of Hallsboro; a son, Phillip S. Elliott of the home; a daughter, Ann M. Elliott of the home; his parents, Roy D. and Mildred H. Elliot Jr. of Whiteville; and a sister, Elaine E. Wilson of Richmond, Va.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

BLADENBORO -- Julian Pete Smith, 64, of Bladenboro, formerly of Lumberton, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
He was a retired heavy-equipment operator for N.C. Dept. of Transportation.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Galeed Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Cannon. Burial will be in New Hollywood cemetery in Lumberton. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Ann D. Smith of the home; four step-children, Lee A.
