Minot W. Godwin
SPIVEYS CORNER -- Minot West Godwin, 64, of Spiveys Corner died Thursday in his home.
He was a schoolteacher at Jacksonville High School and a member of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher and a choir member at the church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Jesse Fulcher and Burkett Raper. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Godwin is survived by two brothers, Kirby Godwin of Clinton and Mark Godwin of Spiveys Corner; and a sister, Linda G. Murphy of Rose Hill.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove.

Mrs. Sally B. Bell
HAMLET -- Mrs. Sally Fisher Beckham Bell, 73, of 116 Marks St. died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and the gospel choir for 25 years. She was a member of the Willing Hands Club.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Wade H. Gatewood. Burial will be in Northside cemetery in Rockingham. Arrangements are being handled by Nelson Funeral Service.
Mrs. Bell is survived by a daughter, Florence Wall of Hamlet; two stepsons, Walter Bell and Willie Bell, both of Hamlet; three brothers, James Beckham of Hamlet, George Beckham of Warner Robbins, Ga., and John Beckham of Syracuse, N.Y.; and two sisters, Carrie B. Little of Baltimore and Julia Cave of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the church.

Mrs. Flora Whitehead
NEW YORK -- Mrs. Flora Whitehead, 81, of New York, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Sunday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today in Bethel Baptist Church in St. Albans. Local arrangements are being handled by Tucker & Sons Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
Mrs. Whitehead is survived by a son, Larry Whitehead of New York; and three grandchildren.

Johnie Davis
HOLLY HILL, Fla. -- Johnie Davis, 66, of Holly Hill, formerly of St. Pauls, N.C., died Jan. 23 in Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
Mr. Davis was the former owner of J&K Grocery in St. Pauls, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a painting contractor.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in McNeill Funeral Home chapel in St. Pauls, N.C., by the Rev. O.C. Taylor.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Katherine Davis; a daughter, Janice D. Griffin of Ormond Beach; a son, Jimmie Davis of Enterprise, Ala.; three brothers, Archie Davis of St. Pauls, and Bill Davis and Rudolph Lamb, both of Lumberton, N.C.; two sisters, Martha D. Snipes of Fairmont, N.C., and Levonnie D. Rogers of Raeford, N.C.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Saturday after the service at the home of Archie and Elnita Davis, 2389 N.C. 20 East, St. Pauls.

Mrs. Brenda C. McFadyen
Mrs. Brenda Ruth Carter McFadyen, 31, 2726 Millbrook Road, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Mrs. McFadyen was a flight attendant for American Airlines. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and taught children’s Sunday school.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church by the Revs. John W. Coker, Hal Hyde and Sandy Saunders. Burial will be in Fayetteville Memorial cemetery.
Mrs. McFadyen is survived by her husband, John S. McFadyen of the home; two sons, John Carter McFadyen and Alex McFadyen, both of the home; her parents, Chaplain Robert and Carolyn Carter of Fayetteville; a brother, Bobby Carter of Chapel Hill; and two sisters, Glenda Guy of Fayetteville and Elizabeth Wosinski of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

COATS -- Carlie Samuel “Sammy” Day Jr., 46, of Coats died Saturday in his home.
Mr. Day had been in the National Guard and was an insurance agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.

Day of Garner, Rattler Stewart of Dunn and Wayne Day of Holden Beach; a sister, Donna Bailey of Whiteville; a step sister, Connie Holland of Angier; and a step brother, Jeremy Pleasant of Coats.

Mr. Fields is survived by his wife, April C. Fields; his father and stepmother, Wiley and Anne D.
