The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wiseman Mortuary chapel by Elder W.T. Ford. Burial will be in Northside cemetery.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eva M. McKinnon

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Eva Mae McKinnon, 71, of 2115 Davis Heights died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Gospel Tabernacle Church by the Rev. Dennis Arnett. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Church cemetery.

Mrs. McKinnon is survived by three daughters, Sallie M. McNeill of Lumberton, Theresa McKinnon of Fayetteville and Doris Floyd of Lumberton; four sons, Lonnie McKinnon Jr., Ray C. McKinnon, John T. McKinnon and Larry McKinnon, all of Lumberton; six sisters, Ora L. Williams, Mary L. Graham, Maggie Lane, Lucille Thompson, Dorothy M. Lesane and Linnie Ray McNeill, all of Lumberton; four brothers, J.C. McNeill, Walter McNeill Jr., William McNeill and David McNeill, all of Lumberton; 25 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 1 to 7 p. m. at Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

GARDEN CITY, Ga. -- Harry Bankhead, 83, of Garden City died Sunday in his home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Garden City United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Fox & Weeks Funeral Home.

Among Mr. Bankhead’s survivors are a son, Richard W. Swann of Linden, N.C.; a brother, Olin Bankhead of Hamlet, N.C.; and a sister, Marian Galloway of Hamlet.

Robert J. Cox Sr.

ROCKINGHAM -- Robert James Cox Sr., 67, of 215 Mount Olive Church Road died Friday.

Mr. Cox was a retired brick mason.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in East Hamlet by the Rev. W.H. Gatewood. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Nelson Funeral Service of Hamlet.

Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Beulah F. Cox; three daughters, Pamela K. Cox of Hamlet, Capt. Gloria J. Cox of Fort McClellan, Ala., and Barbara F. Cox of Rockingham; five sons, Robert J. Cox Jr. of Hamlet, Christian D. Cox, Roger L.Cox and P. Lynn Hayes, all of Rockimgham, and Shelton E. Sutton of Fayetteville; three brothers, Joseph Cox of Hamlet, and Lynwood Cox and Mitchell L. Cox, both of Rochester, N.Y.; seven sisters, Thelma Miller, and Catherine Nicholson, both of Rochester, N.Y., Servillis McCoullough of Detroit, Mildred Kennedy and Bernice Scott, both of Washington, D.C., Ethel M. Jordan and Wilma J. Cox, both of Newport News, Va.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the church.

Mrs. Dorothy S. Smith

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Dorothy Margaret Spaulding Smith, 53, of 556 Thompson Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Ashpole United Methodist Church in Fairmont. She was a teacher’s assistant for the Robeson County school system. Mrs. Smith had received a Teacher Assistant of the Year award from Pembroke Elementary School.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Ashpole United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church cemetery in Rowland.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Norman Smith of the home; two daughters, Ramona L. Smith of the home and Norma S. Jacobs of Rowland; and a sister, Sheila Merriman of Hope Mills.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Ashpole United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1271 Horne Camp Road, Fairmont, N.C. 28340.

Mr. Bullock was the owner of V.P.C. Industries.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Floyd Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Edwin Bullock. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mr. Bullock is survived by his wife, Virginia J. Bullock of the home; two daughters, Cindy Bull of Mobile, Ala., and Paula K. Bullock of Raleigh; and a sister, Beverly Norris of Vero Beach, Fla.

Mr. Brown is survived by two daughters, Tasha Roberts and Shannell Summers, both of Fayetteville; five sons, Clarence Roberts, Michael Roberts and Joseph Roberts, all of Fayetteville, and William J. Brown and James Clyburn, both of the home; two sisters, Mary A. Brown-Jackson and Evelyn Brown, both of Fayetteville; four brothers, John Brown Jr., Anthony Brown, Michael Brown and Jimmy Brown, all of Pensacola, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Peacock’s Chapel in The Pines by the Revs. Clyde Johnson and Ervin Etheridge. Entombment will be in Columbus Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mrs. Cumbee is survived by her husband, Phillip Cumbee; a daughter, Krystal D. Evans of Nakina; two sons, Jason Cumbee and Johnathan Cumbee, both of the home; her parents, Guy and Betty Gore of Nakina; and a grandchild.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by four daughters, Virginia Hardy of the home, Vista Fields of Columbia, S.C., Janet Eury of Brooklyn and Connie Canery of Fairmont; four sons, Alford Thompson of Brooklyn, Leroy Thompson of Fairmont, Cleveland Thompson of Kinston, N.C., and Gregory Thompson of Harvey, La.; a stepson, Cleveland Bethea of Winston-Salem; a sister, Louise Skipper of Boston; a brother, Johnny Skipper of Colorado; six foster sisters, Euliah Watson, Lorene Campbell, Maragree Jones, Vashtie Inman and Ruby Campbell, all of Fairmont, Grace Smith of Brooklyn; a foster brother, Alexander Campbell of Flint, Mich.; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hill Funeral Home in Fairmont and other times at the home of Michael and Connie Canery, 1416 Atkinson Road, Fairmont.
