Manie Wilkie
SHELBY — Manie Wilkie, 90, of Kings Road, Shelby, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 at Hospice at Wendover.
Born in Cleveland County to the late John and Lustie Oakes Wilkie, Mr. Wilkie was retired from Mastercraft Mill in Spindale, N. C. and self-employed later as a lawnmower repairman. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Shelby and a former member of Lost Cords Club, Shelby.
Mr. Wilkie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Darvin and J. I Wilkie of Shelby, and half-sister Etta Lail, Aurie Padgett, Hattie Horner and Vertie Gilreath.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Margaret Ruth Hamrick Wilkie of the home; a son, Ludy Wilkie of the home; two sisters, Velvie and Mescal Wilkie Davis of Southport; a niece, Doris Hamrick of Shelby; special neighbors Willie and Brenda Goforth; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends immediately following graveside services.
Funeral: A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2006 at 4 p.m.

Miss Jade Desiree Powers, 22, of 306-D W. Ballard St., went to be with Jesus
and the Angels on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at home.

PERSONAL HISTORY: Born in Cleveland County, Jade was the daughter of
Phil and Bonnie Powers of Shelby. She attended Elizabeth School, where she
was a cheerleader and Burns High School. Jade held a brown belt in Aikido.

Mrs. Sarah Hamrick Blalock, 88, of 320 N. Main St., Boiling Springs, died Tuesday, June 20,
2006, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

PERSONAL HISTORY: Mrs. Blalock was born and lived all of her life in Boiling Springs. She
was the daughter of the late Duke and Ida Holland Hamrick. She graduated from Boiling
Springs High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist
Church and was a organizing member of Flint Hill Chapter D.A.R. She will always be
remembered for her love and devotion to her family, friends and community.

Ronald E. Wagner
SHELBY — Mr. Ronald Ernest Wagner, 63, of Country Club Acres, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Irvington, N.J., he was a son of the late Otto Wagner and Ann Niokus Wagner. He and his loving wife of 25 years, Kathleen E. Wagner, owned and operated Paul Davis Restorations-Metrolina in Charlotte. The were owners of Mr. Donut in Shelby until 1995. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Ronald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and employer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Wagner.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Ron Wagner Jr. of Plymouth, Mass., Wayne Wagner and wife, Renee, of Matthews, Chad Wagner and wife, Rebecca, of Clover, S. William Fleenor
Mr. William Fleenor, 32, of Chestnut Ridge Church Road, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
A native of Norfolk, Mr. Fleenor worked in construction and roofing and was a member of Christian Freedom Baptist Church. He is free.
His stepfather, Billie J. Warren, and his father, William E. Fleenor, preceded Mr. Fleenor in death. He is survived by his mother, Syble Lorena Warren and wife, Sheila Fleenor, both of Kings Mountain; sons Jonathan and Tyler Fleenor and daughters Kayla and Kia Fleenor, all of Norfolk; sisters, Karen Carley and fiancé Wesley Hopkins, Donna and Mike Blake and Audrey and Mark Toney, all of Kings Mountain; and special friends Marrissa and Michael Green.

Patsy Dickens
RUTHERFORDTON — Mrs. Patsy Hill Dickens, 58, of Rutherfordton, died at home Friday, March 30, 2007, after a valiant fight against ovarian cancer.
She was a native of Sterling, Okla., where she graduated from high school. She graduated Summa cum laude from Ouachita Baptist University, where she was named the Outstanding Senior Woman of her class. She also attended Southern Methodist University where she received her master’s degree. Upon receiving her MFA as a Speech and Language Pathologist, her ministry as a college professor spanned more than 30 years at Ouachita Baptist University, Texas Christian University and Gardner-Webb University.
For many years she worked with stroke patients and their families in Hot Springs, Ark., and in Fort Worth, Texas. Loved for her sense of humor, her kindness, her Christian faith and her commitment to excellence, she challenged students to personal, academic and spiritual growth. In addition to her “routine” responsibilities, Patsy was also a partner of Membercare, a resource group providing care for missionaries in Southeast Asia.
Patsy was a member of the Oklahoma All-State basketball team in 1966, and for several years she held records in Oklahoma girls’ high school basketball. She was twice named an “All-American” athlete in collegiate basketball, and was captain of the Pan American women’s basketball team in 1970.
Patsy’s joy was her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Doug, her daughters, Lori Peak and Kristen Dickens, and her granddaughter, Kayleigh Peak. She is survived by her parents, Edward and Ida Hill of Lawton, Okla.; two sisters Karen Sherry of Oklahoma City, and Nancy Warden and her husband, Rick, of Chickasha, Okla.; nephew, Matt Sherry and niece, Jeanna Smith and her husband, Todd. She leaves behind many friends who love her and are blessed by her friendship.

Mrs. Sheila Ann Davis Jones, 52, of Joe’s Lake Road, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Hospice Cleveland County.
Born in Cleveland County, Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and was employed as a
customer service manager at Wal-Mart. She was a member of Ireland Street Chapel, where she was very active, in
Burlington. Sheila enjoyed life and she enjoyed decorating.
Her father, Alvin Don Wease, preceded her in death.
Sheila is survived by her mother, Madge Marie Clark Wease; husband, Tim L. Jones of Shelby; a son, Johnny Hugh
Bunch Jr. of Shelby; brothers, Patrick Wease and wife, Teresa, of Boiling Springs, Scott Wease of Kings Mountain,
Eddie Wease of Grover and Donald Wease and wife, Candace, of Kings Mountain; and father-in-law and mother-in-
law, Roy and Carolyn Messer of Shelby.

Ola Jones Rush
Miss Ola Jones Rush, 93, formerly of Greenwood, S.C., passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, at White Oak
Manor.
Miss Ola was born Dec. 26, 1914, to the late Bryant Roe and Elizabeth Mae Fortenbury Jones. She was a
homemaker. Miss Ola was born and raised in Cleveland County before marrying Mr. Colie and moving to
Greenwood. In 2002, she moved back to Shelby to be close to family due to declining health. She resided at
Somerset Court of Shelby until she fell and broke her hip in early 2007 and moved to White Oak Manor. She
was of the Baptist faith.
Her husband, Colie Rush, a son, Curtis Rush and an infant son preceded her in death. Three sisters, Lula
Melton, Mary Jones and Lillian Wright and three brothers, Burgin Jones, Max Jones and Ed Jones preceded her
in death.
She is survived by a son Charles Rush of South Carolina, nephews, James Wright of Shelby, Jack Jones and
Harold Jones, both of Virginia; a niece, Vickie Dellinger and her husband, Charles, of Shelby, who were her
caregivers after moving back to Shelby; a special friend and former caregiver, Clyde Dillashaw, of Greenwood.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of White Oak Manor of Shelby, North Station for
their wonderful care and concern for Miss Ola and for the family, especially during her last few days. Your care
went over and above what we could ask for. Your coming to sit with us, your kind words and your quiet concern
meant more than we could ever express. May God bless you.
