KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. Ben Thomas Goforth, 84, of 601 Crescent Circle, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Cherokee County, S.C., he retired as the owner/operator of Goforth Plumbing in Kings Mountain and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kings Mountain. He was a former member of the Kings Mountain Country Club and was a World War II veteran serving in the Army and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kings Mountain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Brown and Ila Jane Wright Goforth; his first wife, Jeanette Hardin Goforth; a daughter, Mickie Logan Springs; son-in-law, Bill Grissom; grandson, William Thomas “Tommy” Grissom; brother, Carl Goforth; and sister, Reola Goforth.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita McSwain Goforth of Kings Mountain; daughters, Claudia Goforth Grissom of Kings Mountain and Ellen Goforth Youngblood of Kings Mountain; brothers, Delbert Goforth of Columbia, S.C., and Ralph Goforth of Kings Mountain; sister, Berdie Jones of Gaffney, S.C.; grandchildren, Sondra Grissom Wilson, Windy Hamrick, Lisa Hamrick and Teresa Houser Bell; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends any time at the home, 601 Crescent Circle, Kings Mountain.
Funeral: Monday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kings Mountain.

King's Mountain — Mrs. Della Mae Stewart, 80, of 106 Morris St. Apt. 6, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at her son’s residence.
A native of Gaston County, she was born Aug. 12, 1926, to the late Bufford and Edna Mae Frye Dobbins. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Evans Stewart.
She is survived by her son, Roger Stewart of Kings Mountain; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Anita Stewart of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Heather Marie Wells, Jeffrey Stewart Jr. and Joshua Andrew Stewart; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greene Funeral Service – West Chapel.

James Linder
April 24, 1934 — Jan. 10, 2007
SHELBY — James William Linder, 72, of 418 E. Warren St., Apt. 44E died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cherokee County, S.C., he was born April 24, 1934. He was the son of the late Walter and Geneva Phillips Linder and was a member of Hopper’s Chapel Baptist Church where he was a trustee and member of the Laymens’ League and Men’s Choir.
He retired from Ray Construction after approximately 15 years of service. He will be remembered and known for his hard work and dedication at his job and church and being a special grandfather to his grandchildren whom he loved.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry William Linder; one brother, Walter Linder and a sister, Catherine Ryan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ruthleen Norris Linder; five sons, Terry Linder and wife Libby, James Linder, Michael Linder and wife Carolyn, all of Shelby, Steve Linder and wife Detria of Lancaster, S.C., and Chad Linder and wife Victoria of Shelby; three daughters, Kathey Bailey and fiancée’ Steven A. Howze of Wilmington, Del., Loretta Peterson and husband Clint and Shawna Johnson and husband Vincent both of Shelby; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Linder of Shelby; one brother, June Linder (Linda) of Boiling Springs; 20 grandchildren two whom he reared, Lakeisha Linder and Tyrez Linder both of Shelby; one aunt, Hannah Linder of Gaffney, S.C.; two special nephews, Victor Norris of Boiling Springs and Timothy Lee Norris of Wilmington; and a host of other nephews and nieces and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church and at other times at the home of his son, Terry Linder, 1335 N. Lafayette St., Shelby.

A native of Frankfurt, Germany, she was a retired seamstress in the textile industry and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Friedrich and Katharina Marscheck Semineth; her husband of 31 years, Lloyd Odean Allmond; a brother, Willie Semineth; and two sisters, Rosa Klapperer and Lina Semineth Rauch.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd E. and Charlene Allmond of Gastonia, Reimund and Linda Allmond of Blacksburg, S.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn A. and Jerry Moser of Fayetteville, Karin and Manfred Disch of Rottenbach, Germany, Denise J. Allmond of Norman, Okla.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Charles and Donnis Dobbins Smart. He was the founder and former owner of The Trade Street Eatery in Shelby.
He is survived by one son, Kyle Smart of Shelby, and two grandsons, Nate Smart and Raiden Smart.
