PERSONAL HISTORY: Mrs. Philbeck retired from Minnette Mills and was a member of First Baptist Church in Grover.

Goldsboro — Mrs. Sara Dees Fonvielle, 83, died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
FUNERAL: Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Willowdale cemetery
Burial: Willowdale cemetery
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the home of John and Georgia Dees, 707 E. Mulberry St., Goldsboro.
PERSONAL HISTORY: A native of Goldsboro, she was the daughter of the late William Archie and Mahala “May” Smith Dees. Mrs. Fonvielle was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered, especially, for her independence and sense of humor. Mrs. Fonvielle was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Bessemer City — Myrtle M. Williams, 94, of White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, and formerly of Bessemer City, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

David W. Royster Jr.
June 22, 1923 – June 4, 2006
GASTONIA — David W. Royster, Jr., 82, died on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
David was born on June 22, 1923, in Rutherford County and was raised on South Washington Street in Shelby. He graduated from Shelby High School and was an Eagle Scout. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill before and after World War II. He served in the V5 Naval Air Corp during World War II.
He was President of Capitol Funds, Inc., a real estate development company with projects throughout the southeast. He was an officer with Royster Oil Company, an oil distribution company and also Royster Transport, petroleum products carrier. He also served on the Board of Directors of Associated Petroleum Carriers and was President of the North Carolina Trucking Association. He was a founder of Piedmont Components and Homes in Shelby and Mount Gilead. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Kiwanis and Jaycees.
David was involved in numerous business endeavors over the years with a wide variety of friends and associates with whom he made lasting friendships. His business associates, friends and family knew by his frequent phone conversations that they were the joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David W. Royster Sr. and Margaret McMurry Royster.
He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Matthews Royster and his sister, Ann Royster Taylor and her husband, Jim, of Shelby. Four children, Katherine Royster Burgin and her husband, Bobby, of Shelby; Peggy Royster Porter, of Atlanta; Lynn Royster Roach and her husband, Tommy, of Raleigh; and David W. Royster III and his wife, Sally, of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Quinn Burgin Saleeby and her husband, Will; Sid Porter; Katherine, Will, Julia and Thomas Roach; and David and Jay Royster.
Also survived by four stepchildren, the Rev. J. Houston Matthews III, and his wife, Shay, of Gastonia; Annabelle Matthews Kelly and her husband, Bill, of Gastonia; Nora Matthews Hale, and her husband, Duke, of Charlotte; and Vann Marshall Matthews, and his wife, Alice, of Gastonia; 10 step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Cecil Burton Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Shelby. Burial will follow in Sunset cemetery with the Revs. Tony Tench and Houston Matthews and Dr. Gene Watterson officiating.
David and his family are so grateful for the loving care he received from the staff and doctors at Cleveland Pines and Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, c/o CRMC Foundation, 201 East Grover Street, Shelby, NC 28150 or to First Baptist Church of Shelby, 120 N. Lafayette St, Shelby, NC 28150.
Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Tucker
Died June 4, 2006
GASTONIA — Mrs. Ruby Cornelius Blackwell Tucker, 68, of 2200 Monterey Park Drive, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

BURIAL: Gaston Memorial Park Singing Tower Section
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Carothers Funeral Home in Belmont.
PERSONAL HISTORY: Mrs. Tucker was a native of Cleveland County. She was the daughter of the late William Blackwell and Katie Glover Yearwood. She was self-employed and a member of South Mountain Baptist Association.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: Her parents and a brother, Johnny Blackwell
SURVIVORS: Her husband of 38 years, David L. Tucker; two nieces, Teri Edge and her husband, Donnie and Julie Blackwell; a nephew, Steve Blackwell; a great-niece, Ashley Whitson; three aunts, Marie Towery and her husband, Cecil, Ruth D. Glover and Ruth N. Glover; and numerous cousins

PERSONAL HISTORY: Born in Cleveland County to the late Andy Pearson Towery and Essie Newton Towery, Mrs. Swink was a member of Casar United Methodist Church. She retired from K-12 Bomb Factory where she worked for the government in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: Her parents; her husband, John Albert Swink; and a brother, John William Newton; and a sister, Clara Newton

PERSONAL HISTORY: Mrs. Smith was born in Swain County and grew up in western North Carolina in the mountains around Cherokee. After she was married in 1929, she lived in the Charlotte area. She has lived in Cleveland County since 1985. She graduated Sylva High School and Greensboro Bible and Literary School and attended the school of nursing in Gastonia. She was an avid traveler, loved to garden and raise flowers and vegetables. She furnished flowers for Marvin United Methodist Church for many years. She also enjoyed painting in oil, mostly flowers and scenes
