Billy Jenkins
Billy Tillman Jenkins, 70, of Sunset Beach, died July 23, 2010 at the N.C. State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville.
He was born April 16, 1940.
Surviving are his wife, Faye Jenkins; daughter, Gloria McDonald and husband Jay; son, Randy Jenkins and wife, Kathy; four grandchildren; and mother Aroene Jenkins.
Burial with military honors was at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Lillian Dixey
Lillian Vaughan Jenkins Dixey, 86, of Holden Beach, died July 31, 2010.
She was born June 12, 1924, a daughter of the late Walter Harmon and Susan Hall Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John William Dixey.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan Dixey Sprouse and husband Phil of Holden Beach, and Carol Dixey Boyle and husband Patrick of Napa, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren;.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Shallotte.

Ryanne Cheek
Ryanne Chandler Cheek, 27, of the Sunset Harbor community, died Aug. 1, 2010.
She was born Dec. 26, 1982, a daughter of Riley Chandler Spoon of Winston-Salem and Ann Garner Scott of Cary.
Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Terry Cheek; and a daughter, Riley Chandler Cheek.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday Aug. 5, in the Chapel of Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service.

Patricia Butler
Patricia Ann Butler of Longwood died July 28, 2010 at home.
Viewing was at People’s Funeral Home of Shallotte. Funeral service was at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Longwood. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Bob Womble
Charles Robert “Bob” Womble Sr. 78, of Boiling Spring Lakes, died July 24, 2010, at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport.
He was born Sept. 1, 1931, a son of the late Charlie William Thomas Womble and Helen Marie Johnston Womble. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Maryanna Paul Womble; a son Charles Womble Jr. and wife Fran of Lexington; three daughters, Yvonne Harrell and husband Donald, Toni Rouse and husband Randall and Roberta Weaver, all of Pine Tops; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Amanda Taylor
Rev. Dr. Amanda Kay Taylor, 34, of Ocean Isle Beach, died July 22, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 16, 1976, a daughter of Robert Charles and Elizabeth Rowland Taylor, who survive.
Funeral services were in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel. Burial was in the Rowland Cemetery in Robeson County.
Brunswick Funeral Service is serving the family.

Frederick Roll
Frederick Cornelius Roll, 86, of Calabash, died July 24, 2010 at his residence.
He was born July 14, 1924, a son Simon and Anna Vermulen Roll.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; his daughter, Chris Moore of Burke, Va.; and a grandchild.
Memorial services are planned for the fall. Interment will be in Orange County Cemetery in Middletown, N.Y.
Brunswick Funeral Service is serving the family.

Reva Vance
Mrs. Reva Faye Evans Vance, 75, of Boiling Spring Lakes, formerly of Grundy, Va., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Mrs. Vance was born June 16, 1935, in Herald, Va., a daughter of the late Boyce and Bertha Evans.
Mrs. Vance was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes. She was a very loving, caring and giving woman, who loved to work in her yard.

Jo Ann Sellers
Jo Ann Gore Sellers, 72, of Bolivia, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Brunswick Community Hospital.
She was born in Brunswick County on Oct. 29, 1937, a daughter of the late John Cager Gore and Mattie Estelle Reynolds Gore.
Survivors include two children, Cecilia Connor and husband, Frank of Bolivia, and Stacy Sellers Jr. of Bolivia; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Odell Gore of Bolivia.

Medford Mintz
Medford Lee Mintz, 61, of Riegelwood, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Whiteville.
He was born on Sept. 29, 1949, in Brunswick County, a son of the late Saint Elmo and Frances Moline Mintz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Wagner Mintz; a son, Tony Michael Mintz of Ash; a daughter, Christina Horrell and partner Heather Anderson of Riegelwood; an aunt; and one granddaughter.
Graveside services were Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the New Life Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lacy Lancaster
Lacy Linwood Lancaster, 91, of Supply, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Brunswick Community Hospital.
He was born in Brunswick County on Oct. 13, 1919, a son of the late John N. and Berlyn Sellers Lancaster.
Survivors include his wife, Wardie Hewett Lancaster; three grandsons; two sisters, Doris Thompson and Betty Wilson of Wilmington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob Kans Sr.
Robert “Bob” Emmett Kans Sr., 73, of Ocean Isle Beach, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 3, 1937, he was a son of the late Meyer and Beatrice Ellen Carlisle Kans.
He was a man who loved golf. He served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard, then began his long U.S. government career and retired from the U.S. Customs Service as chief of communications.
Mr. Kans was preceded in death by a son, Steve Harmon Kans, and a sister, Joan Kans.

Lloyd Jackson
Lloyd Eli Jackson, 71, of Supply, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Brunswick Cove Nursing Center.
He was born in Liberty, Texas, on Sept. 24, 1939, a son of the late Harvey and Nellie Jackson.
Survivors include two sons, Lloyd C. Jackson of Boiling Spring Lakes, and Lawrence Jackson of Shallotte; one daughter, Tabitha Jackson of Supply; two brothers, JL Jackson and Buddy Jackson, both of Texas; one sister, Charlene Taylor, also of Texas; and one grandson.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at 49 Ash Road, Southport.

A.C. Hudson
A.C. Hudson, 86, of Sunset Beach, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Brunswick Community Hospital.
A memorial service was at Seaside United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 30. The Rev. Scott Wilson-Parsons officiated.

Mildred Holton
Mildred Holton died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at her residence.
She was born in Baxley, Ga., a daughter of the late William and Essibelle Johns Holton.
Survivors include her sister, Jean Beeder; and several stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Graveside services were Nov. 1 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bolivia.
Arrangements by Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service Supply Chapel.

Bennett Freeland
Bennett H. Freeland, 81, of Carolina Shores, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 8, 1929, in Glen Alpine, a son of the late George M. and Agnes Lucille Parker Freeland.
Mr. Freeland is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice R. Freeland of Carolina Shores; one daughter, Vickie Poole of Little River, S.C.; two sisters, Betsy Calame of Dallas, Texas, and Lila Oliver of Burlington; and two granddaughters, Ashley and Kourtney. He is predeceased by one son, George Michael Freeland.

Estelle Cartier
Estelle Marie Cartier, 107, of Sunset Beach, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, in Autumn Care of Shallotte.
Mrs. Cartier was born on July 29, 1903, in Canada. She was a daughter of the late Xavier and Lucille Cormier. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters.
Her hobbies were crewel embroidery and cooking.
