Barbara Landrum
Barbara Ruth Jones Landrum, 86, of Charlotte, died Saturday, March 10, 2012.
She was born March 4, 1926, in Atlanta to Ruth and Thomas Jones.
She was an ardent wife to George William Landrum, who preceded her in death. She welcomed his family into her home when they were in need. She gave her daughter all the compassion, patience and understanding any child should ever want.

Mary Hughes
Mary Wilda Holden Hughes, 90, of Longwood, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Hughes was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Brunswick County, to the late William Gaston and Ellie Rivers Evans Holden.
She was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening.
Mrs. Hughes was a loving mother and grandmother and had an unlimited amount of perseverance and strength and a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered for her dry wit.

Ralph Hickman
Ralph Lane Hickman of Ash died June 4, 2012, after an extended illness.
The youngest of five children, he was born Sept. 7, 1925, to Lula and Luther Hickman. He is survived by a sister, Pearl Lowman; a sister-in-law, Virginia (Hurston) Hickman, both of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., an aunt, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Miriam Speicher
Miriam L. Speicher, 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at her home on Oak Point in Supply.
She was born in Steubenville, Ohio, on Jan. 6, 1921. Her parents were Encil and Minnie Chamberlain of Wellsburg, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her son, Sammy; her first husband, Lt. Martin Lovell (who was killed in action in World War II); and her second husband, USAF Lt. Col Ret. Dale Speicher who died in 1978.

Russell Pulaski
Russell Anthony Pulaski, 61, of Boiling Spring Lakes, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 7, 2012.
He was born in Muskegon Co., Mich., on Jan. 7, 1951, the son of the late Otto M. and Dorothy Paine Pulaski.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Glenn Cooper and Martin Pulaski.
He retired in 1985 from the Grand Rapids Foam Rubber Company.
Mr. Pulaski moved to Boiling Spring Lakes with his wife Linda in 2006. He was a member of the Beach Road Baptist Church in Southport.

William Pigott
William Edward Pigott, 74, of Shallotte, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at home.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Ocean View Missionary Baptist Association in Sunset Beach. Burial followed at Angela-Faye Cemetery in Shallotte.

Steve Lyons
Stephen “Steve” Peter Lyons, 77, of Shallotte, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
He was born May 14, 1935, in New York City, N.Y., to the late Stephen and Margaret Flaherty Lyons.

Mack Little
Mr. Mattland Mack Little, 77, of Ash, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Little was born in Ash on April 25, 1935, and was the son of the late McArthur and Rosetta Little. He retired from Seaboard Railroad Systems.

Jane Keller
Jane Christina Keller, 83, of Little River, S.C., died Friday, June 8, 2012, at her home.
A funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

“Chick” Robert Hedrick
“Chick” Robert Hedrick, 85, husband of Carolyn Hedrick, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Agape Hospice in Conway.
A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, in Lee Funeral Home Chapel.

Janet Gant
Janet Elizabeth Gant, 70, of Southport and formerly of Potomac, Md., died Sunday, June 10, 2012.
She was born in Flint, Mich., on Feb. 19, 1942, and was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Marion Calber Coppel.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Gant; three children, Meg Burke of Siler City, Rob Gant of Boyds, Md., and Will Gant of Frederick, Md.; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Coppel of Fenton, Mich.

Jeffrey Gales
Jeffrey Franklin Gales, 48, of Shallotte, died Saturday, June 9, 2012, at his home.
Jeffrey was born in New Hanover County on April 12, 1964, and was a son of Carolyn Gray Gales of Shallotte and the late Franklin Dwight Gales.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his children, Tyler Gales, Heather Gales, Ashlyn Gales and Amber Gales, all of Shallotte; a grandson; two sisters, Anita Gales Evans of Supply, and LaDonna Gales Garner of Wilmington.

Janet Wittko
Janet E. Wittko, 71, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, with her family by her side after a lengthy fight with cancer.
She was a long-term resident of South Kortright, N.Y., and for the past 17 years resided in Ash.
Janet was born Dec. 15, 1940, in Bovina Center, N.Y. She was married icon in 1967 to Robert C. Wittko Sr. of South Kortright, N.Y.
Janet owned and operated a beauty salon, Jan’s Beauty Salon in Stamford, N.Y., prior to joining her husband in their hearing aid business, Wittko Hearing Aid Center, in Oneonta, N.Y.

Shirley Solomon
Shirley Mae Smith Solomon of Calabash died on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.
She was born on May 23, 1937, in Columbus County, a daughter of the late Joseph Thomas Smith Sr. and Verlie Mae Smith.
Surviving are her four children, Gary Dale Tyree of Whiteville, Ricky Allen Tyree of Lake Waccamaw, Sonya Clark Whiteside of Hickory, and Len Clark of Cary; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Carl Stidham Sr.
Carl Vernon Stidham Sr., 84, of Leland and formerly of Southport, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Leslie County, Ky., on May 29, 1928, and was the son of the late Malcolm and Julia Stidham.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Perlina Stidham; four children, Faye Brock of Wilmington, Carl Vernon Stidham Jr. of Oak Island, Brenda Wood of Leland, and Julia Baggely of Southport; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bo Phillips
James Robert “Bo” Phillips, born Feb. 17, 2012, died on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
He was a beloved son of Seth and Katherine Phillips, and adored brother of Adeline Anne Phillips.
He is survived by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Deborah Phillips; his maternal grandfather, James Robert Jennings; five uncles and aunts; and his paternal great-grandparents.
A memorial service was on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the Oak Island Presbyterian Church, Oak Island, North Carolina.

Kathy Monacello
Kathleen “Kathy” Monacello, 69, of Longs, S.C., died Thursday, June 28, 2012.
A prayer service was at 6 p.m. Monday, July 2, in Lee Funeral Home Chapel.
Arrangements by Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Thomas Humphreville
Thomas Gilbert Humphreville, 82, of Ocean Isle Beach, died Friday, June 29, 2012, in Brunswick Novant Medical Center in Bolivia.
He was born March 15, 1930, in Mount Pleasant, Ohio, to the late William and Jaymes Agnes Smith Kihcard.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia G. Humphreville.
No local services will be announced.
Arrangements by Brunswick Funeral Service & Crematory Shallotte.
