Helen Hiltabidel
Mrs. Helen Narola Hiltabidel, 83, of Calabash, was born on May 26, 1929, in Burbank, Ohio, the daughter of the late Welker E. Messenger and the late Pearl D. Walker.
She died peacefully at home on Monday, July 2, 2012.
Mrs. Hiltabidel enjoyed camping, fishing, crocheting and other crafts, and being with her family.
Mrs. Hiltabidel is survived by her husband, Melvin L. Hiltabidel of Calabash.

Troy Galloway
Mr. Troy Kevin Galloway, 41, of Supply, died Thursday, June 28, 2012.
Troy was born in New Hanover County on May 8, 1971, and was the son of Jimmy D. and Ruby Rivenbark Galloway of the home. He was preceded in death by a son, Shae Britt.
He was a commercial fisherman. Troy was a member of Word Of Christ Fellowship.

Anthony Cacace
Anthony Thomas Cacace, 56, of Calabash, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sept.11, 1955, a son of Sal Cacace and the late Eleanor Cacace.
Anthony worked for many years as a plumber before he became disabled. He found great joy in the simplest things, especially all of God’s beautiful creations. He “entertained angels” with his warm heart and graceful spirit. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor and friend.

Ginny Barber
Virginia “Ginny” Burleyson Barber, 82, of Sunset Beach, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, in McLeod Seacoast Medical Center, Little River, S.C.
Mrs. Barber was born on Nov. 1, 1929, in Dalton, Ga., a daughter of the late Belton Ross and Mildred Segars Burleyson. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, of 62 years, Mason Barber, on June 6, 2012.
Ginny was a devoted homemaker with a servant’s heart and always looked for the best in others.

Mildred Kivett
Mildred C. Kivett, 85, passed Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
She was born Aug. 9, 1927. Mildred spent her childhood years at the Methodist Children’s Home in Winston-Salem, which she loved dearly, and the majority of her adult life in Greensboro. She retired to Holden Beach with her dearly loved husband of 63 years, Rossie.

Charles Gladden
Charles Everett Gladden Sr., (No. 1 Trouble), 77, of Supply, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012.
He was born on Kings Mountain Battleground, S.C., on Oct. 18, 1934, eldest son of the late James Everette Gladden and Ollie Susanna Lovelace Gladden.
Mr. Gladden was a retired truck driver after 62 years. He was a loving father, Paw-Paw, brother and good friend to everyone.
Charles was a senior member of OOIDA, and was a longtime member of Teamster Local 391.

Charlotte Fedak
Charlotte Ann Fedak, 62, of Carolina Shores, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Fedak was born March 23, 1950, in Queens, N.Y., to the late Edward and Charlotte Furman O’Keefe.
She worked as an accountant for several years.

Bruce Cohen
Bruce A. Cohen, 74, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, at St. James Catholic Church in Conway, S.C.

Mickey Carver
Marion “Mickey” Theresa Carver, 88, of Cathlamet, Wash., and previously Oak Island, passed into the arms of her Savior on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at St. John Hospital in Longview Wash.
Mickey was born in 1924 in Trenton, N.J., to Marion Theresa Christof and John J. Maloney.
She graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1942 and married icon Robert Bruce Carver in 1944 at Trinity Episcopal “Old Swedes” Church in Swedesboro, N.J.

Buddy Carroll
Claude Elvin “Buddy” Carroll, 67, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012.
Buddy was born in Jacksonville on July 1, 1945, a son of the late Claude Andrew and Mildred Norton Carroll.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Thomas Boyd
Thomas McMullen Boyd, 84, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Lee Funeral Home Chapel.

Jim Begala
Arthur James “Jim” Begala, 71, of St. James, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Newark, N.J., on Sept. 10, 1940, and was the son of the late Arthur James Begala Sr. and Ruby Eason Williams Begala.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Begala; two children, Robert James Begala of Westmont, Ill., and Susan Jeanne Begala-Brothers of Chicago, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Vincent Coppola Jr.
Vincent Anthony Coppola Jr., 70, of Ocean Isle Beach, died May 21 at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
He was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Portsmouth, Va., a son of the late Vincent Anthony Coppola Sr. and Mary Rose Carpenito Coppola.
He retired as a mechanical engineer with the Naval Sea Systems Command.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Kenney Coppola; three sons, Vincent Coppola and wife Stacey of Downingtown, Pa.; Dennis Coppola and wife Jennifer of Pawleys Island, S.C.; and Stephen Andrew “Andy” Coppola and wife Becca of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Mary Beth Somers and husband Paul of Chesapeake, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 26 at St. Brendan Catholic Church.
Memorials may be directed to St. Brendan Catholic Church, Attn: Loaves & Fishes, P.O. Box 2849, Shallotte, NC 28459.

Timothy Rew – Southport
Timothy Carl Rew, 40, treasured son of Deborah Suiter, died on 17 July at New Hanover Hospital.
He was born on 13 July 1969 in Warrenton, Virginia, the only child of Deborah and Carl Sultan Rew. He was a graduate of the 1987 class of Annandale (VA.) High School.
He was preceded in death by his beloved stepfather Christopher Suiter. He is survived by his grandmother Donna Neiswonger and aunt Jane Lauby of Granite Shoals, Texas, stepbrother Geoffrey Suiter and wife Barbara of Alexandria, VA., cousins David Poarch of Manassas, VA., Denise Morton of China Grove, NC and Anthony Mallette of Crockett, TX.
Music was Timothy’s life. Most of his career was spent in the musical entertainment field working in various positions at clubs in Washington, DC and San Francisco. His last position was head of security at the Rock & Roll Hotel in Washington, DC. In addition he toured the country with rock performer Tim Reynolds as stage manager and tour driver.
Tim was a sensitive and brilliant young man, capable of wisdom and humor beyond his years; a shaman in training who would have become a wise elder. He was gentle soul who dearly loved his family and his cats. A man of peace, he is now at peace.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service in Southport on Friday, 24 July at 4pm officiated by Dr. Jonathan R. Kelley. Visitation with the family begins at 3pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Southport-Oak Island Animal Rescue, 3376 St. Charles Place, Southport, NC 28461

John Michael Outlaw – Supply, NC
Mr. John Michael Outlaw age 55 of 400 Al-Haynes Rd., Supply died Sunday July 19, 2009 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
Mr. Outlaw was born in Richmond County NC on October 11, 1953 and was the son of Virginia Purvis Outlaw of the home and the late Albert Outlaw. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Steven Outlaw and a nephew, Joshua Outlaw. He was a welder.
Survivors in addition to his mother include two sons, Ben Outlaw of SC and Lee Lovett of Supply; a brother, T.E. Outlaw of Jemison, Alabama; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 Tuesday July 21, 2009 at the residence. No services will be held.

Jeffrey Swaim – Southport
Mr. Jeffrey Scott Swaim, age 40 of 918 N. Shore Dr., Southport, NC formerly of Burlington, NC died Thursday July 16, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Swaim was born in Long Beach, California on August 7, 1968 and was the son of Sheila Rudd Buckner of Southport and the late Jimmy Leon Swaim. Jeffrey was an Automobile Painter and loved music and loved to sing.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Heather Swaim; two brothers, Jeromy Swaim of Burlington, Christopher Wilson of Southport; three sisters, Shelly Ann Swaim of Burlington, Stacy Lynn Swaim of Southport, Christy Clemmons of Burlington; paternal grandfather, Jesse O. Swaim of Long Beach, Ca.; maternal grandmother, Iona Rudd of Burlington; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday August 8, 2009 at 2pm at the Cedar Rock Park Shelter 4 in Alamance County, NC.

Thomas Victor Perkins – Wilmington
Mr. Thomas Victor Perkins age 64 of Wilmington, NC died Tuesday July 14, 2009 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
Mr. Perkins was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on May 11, 1945 and was the son of the late Harold Lee Perkins Sr. and Mabel Coffey Buckley. He was a former resident of Greensboro and was a music promoter for many years. Mr. Perkins was a US Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Lee Perkins Jr. and Richard T. Perkins.
He is survived by his daughter, Nichole Patino and husband Fernando of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Isaac and Kateland; a sister, Lynn P. Brown of Martinsville, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday July 25, 2009 at 11am at Grace Community Church located on 643 W. Lee Street, Greensboro.
